Had a great weekend for socializing but a miserable weekend for calorie counting. We went out to eat three times with friends and relatives. Made it hard to calculate my intake, but at least I didn’t gain any permanent weight from it. :D
I have been trying to add more fiber to my diet after hearing about all of the success others have had. My question is – how do you dare leave the house after consuming a bowl of Fiber One and a Fiber One bar the same day? It was a little more than my digestive system could handle.:?:

littlered 03-27-2007 10:03 PM

woodlilly,

drink lots of water, and maybe something like Beeno if needed.
it helps me.
Don't add to much at one time. work up to the number you want.

Did you know....
If you passed gas consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. :fr:

Did you know....Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour
(Don't try this at home, maybe at work) :joker:

littlered 03-27-2007 10:25 PM

I just have to share this with everyone.

My son. 27 yrs old. has been so impressed with everything I have been doing and learned here, that he is joining me in the weight loss game!!!

Every night, he calls me to ask me something about calories, etc.
I feel like a good mom. Both of my kids have joined me now.

Now, if hubby would try....Not! :( :^:
Maybe when I start to show some weight loss.

Thanks for listening. :)

chloeone 03-27-2007 11:11 PM

hey everyone~

woodlily~I hear ya on fiber and the digestive system..definately takes some getting used to!

littlered~ Yea for your son and daughter...you're going to have one healthy family soon!

Robbin and Bobbi~ you two are my heros for the week....wow...110 lbs for Robin, at goal for Bobbi...amazing. I'm honestly speechless!

calories for the day, 1600
I've averaged about 1550 for the last week, which is really good for me (aka I lose weight slowly on it...so far at least!)
with a herniated disc that keeps getting worse though, I have been forced to stop exercising completely...none for the last 5 days...getting really frustrated b/c I'm not sure if i'm able to reduce calories right now (i am one hungry 23 year old!), but i dont know if I can lose weight w/o exercising AT ALL (even a 10 min walk is very painful) :( any thoughts?

goodnight all!

Justme33 03-27-2007 11:40 PM

I'm just about to get to bed, but decided to come read here a bit first..I'm like an inch away from the screen...since I already took out my contacts...I CAN'T SEE!!! Forgive any typos!!

I did good today 1215 calories...half came from lentils...LOL It wasn't going to be like that, I cooked a pot of red lentils around 10am...original plan was 300 calories of it today....300 calories tomorrow...I ate it all in 3 small meals....SOOOO YUMMY!!! I love lentils...I think tomorrow I'll make some soup...(lemony lentil and spinach soup...)

azmom 03-28-2007 01:09 AM

Hey Justme33!

I would really like to try some of your lentil recipes....can you post some?

CoolMom75 03-28-2007 01:56 AM

mmm, I love lentils! That sounds delicious!

1664 cals today, including two Corona light beers. That makes my overall food intake a little low, but I had over 2000 yesterday.

Abbynormal 03-28-2007 02:02 AM

Hi all! I'm new here- hope you don't mind me jumping in here! I work 2nds and I can't help myself i get the munchies at night! What do you guys do?

Yes, I got me a 110 lb avatar!!! Although I hope I don't keep it for long. 115 sounds much better. As far as tips. I think it's kinda like what Bobbi said. I know we are coming from very different places, me being so huge when I first started out. But the truth is it's a mind thing. I too am a very determined, stubborn person and I FINALLY made the DECISION to lose the weight, once and for all, no kidding around. I got tired of being fat and realized that, hey if I don't want to be fat, well then I don't have to be. So since I made that decision, that's all there was to it. I know that sounds simple, but that is the bottom line. I found willpower in me that I didn't know existed. I have basically stuck to my plan for close to 7 months now. Very, very few days of over calories and the few days that there were, they were over by very, very little. I also tried to elminate trouble spots for myself. I was bad with leftovers in the house. So, now I just make enough for a meal at a time. This way there's also no going back for seconds and no leftovers to nibble on. Foods that I overeat, I no longer make. I eat tons of veggies, if I overeat them, no big deal. I also make yummy food that I really look forward to and it helps me to stay on plan. I eat every 2 1/2 hours or so. I tell myself, when I'm done eating, well you can eat again, something delicious in just 2 short hours or so. And luckily I've become obsessed with the weightloss. It is my new hobby.

Tuesday's calories - about 1100.

Have a great day everyone.

Justme33 03-28-2007 08:03 AM

I have to warn you.....I'm not a big cook...some would say I can't cook very well....I found a recipe for lemon lentil soup and then I changed it to be easier and healthier. I wsan't sure how it would turn out and brought it to my mom's for a family dinner...Everyone loved it!! So the recipe may not look professional because of changes I made....I got a basic idea from a recipe and just threw it together...

Lemony Lentil Soup....

INGREDIENTS

2 cups diced onions
2 tablespoons crushed garlic
1 1/2 cups finely diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
2 bay leaves (I never have any so never used this)
1 cup dry lentils
5 cups water or vegetable stock (I use water)
1/3 cup freshly-squeezed lemon juice (I use slightly more)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (again sometimes I dont have so dont use)
4 cups packed chopped fresh greens, such as kale, chard, spinach, or mustard (I use a bag of baby spinach..the whole bag..remove stems and then chop)
salt and pepper to taste

Now the original recipe called to saute the veggies in olive oil..I never do....I also use a thermal cooking pot, so I'm not sure how long this would be all coooked together on a stove. Basically I just throw all of it together...EXCEPT the lemon and spinach and cook until its done...towards the last 5-10 minutes add the lemon and spinach...

ANYWAYS, EASY and yummy!! Well at least my family liked it!!

GrammyL 03-28-2007 09:41 AM

I thought I would post this and I hope it might help someone. This is going to sound odd to many people but calorie counting is coming very easy to me and I don’t even have the urge to cheat at this point. I am catching some stinking thinking but still staying within my calorie counts. I will work on that stinking thinking while losing the weight. All the other programs I have been on took a lot of will power to follow and lose weight and I felt deprived. Calorie counting, I don’t even feel like I am using an ounce of will power and I never feel deprived. I probably eat some things I should but I don’t eat them every day, keep it at one serving and chose the healthy form available. What this has done for me is I never feel deprived and I don’t cheat. All my sense are happy and I have found that a true serving sizes is satisfying. What I have discovered that after a certain point in eating the taste of the food starts to lose its intensity and it just starts becoming something going into my mouth. The WOW is gone and I am just eating for the sake of eating. When I eat just one serving of something my taste buds go WOW and I stop before it loses its value. It is hard and that is why I buy single serving sizes on things I used to over eat on but I am now getting used to stopping before I am eating just to eat.

GrammyL 03-28-2007 09:42 AM

My Stinking Thinking

HERE IS MY STINKING THINKING THAT I AM GOING TO WORK ON NOW THAT I DON'T HAVE TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME OBSESSING ABOUT FOOD:

I have a problem with leftovers and throwing away food. Its usually just DD and I most of the time and a lot of products I buy are 3 - 4 servings, like the couscous I am making tonight. So, I either eat it because I don’t want to dump it out or I end up putting it in a little storage container and let it start growing and then throw it away. DD and I don’t like leftovers and I just need to face that fact. I don’t like eating the same thing more than once a week when it comes to my main meals. Snacks yes, main meals no. Sometimes it hard to face facts and do what you have been trained all your life not to do and that is dump that extra serving out.

Even though I am losing I caught myself in some bad thinking and eating. Last night I ate more than I should just because I wanted to and I would fall within my calorie goals. I ate a whopping 5 oz of meat and two serving of All-Bran cereal w/coolwhip (love this Bobbi, thanks for sharing). I have no idea why I did this and know that it was wrong and will continue to work on this stinking thinking. So, today I have dinner mapped out in advanced and printed it off and I am going to stick with it.

GrammyL 03-28-2007 10:36 AM

WoodLily ~ It is some very sound advise that Littlered gave you. I couldn’t figure out why I was so gassy, until just now. I started to eat healthier carbs and was blaming it on the sugar alcohols in some of things I was eating but now that I look back it was probably a combo of sugar alcohols and fiber.

Theresa ~ You crack me up, I love the gas posts. HAHAHAHAHA! That is fantastic that your family is getting involved. I so want my DD’s to do it with me but they don’t seem interested at this time.

Justme ~ My eyes used to be that bad. I used to make sure I put my glasses in the same place very night so I could find them in the morning. If I put them somewhere else, I have to have my DH or DD’s find them. I eye surgery to correct my vision, the one I had, excuse the spelling, was called radiocaritometry (how it sounds but not how its spelled). Worked fantastic for me but that is not always the case according to my regular eye doctor.

Abbynormal ~ Welcome to our group. This is a wonderful group and full of helpful information and support. I haven’t been here long but I couldn’t do it without these wonderful people.

Rockinrobin ~ I eat every two – three hours. This also keeps me good like you said because I know in two – three hours I will be eating something yummy. I have really upped my veggies to help keep me full longer. I like to mix tomatoes, celery, bell pepper and onions together and put a little dressing on. I am picky on my dressing so I use the real thing and just 1 tablespoon which is more than enough.

Well I am off for now and talk to you all later.

GrammyL:

Maybe you can just freeze half of it right up front? That way you can have it in a few weeks when you're not sick of it anymore!

Justme33 03-28-2007 11:25 AM

GrammyL: The really SCARY thing about my vision....is I JUST got contacts about 6-7 weeks ago...before that I had a pair of taped up glasses I ONLY wore driving OUT of town or watching tv at night....All other times I walked around half blind...My eye doctor just about freaked when I told him....LOL Its been quite a few years since I had an exam, my glasses were way too weak....Anyways, now that I've been wearing contacts, I notice how bad I am without it...before that I knew I couldn't see good but didn't realize how bad it really was!! I CAN SEE THE WORLD AGAIN!!! :carrot:

Rockinrobin: I am SOOOOO impressed with your 110lbs lost!! Its gives me the motivation to keep on going...I've been SOOOO hungry lately and hit a plateau and even though I've been pretty good with diet and excercise I'm feeling a little unmotivated lately...(probably just the PMS talking...)

bargoo 03-28-2007 12:05 PM

I find that if I plan my meals ahead and write it down ,as I
eat my meals I check off what
I have eaten .This keeps me from eating the same thing twice or forgetting something.,

Maybe I'll do that for the next couple weeks, see if I can break this plateau... then I wont be staring at the freezer trying to decide on something last minute

GrammyL 03-28-2007 12:52 PM

OK, now I am made at myself. I keep seeing posts about Flat Out and have never really looked for it seriously in the store and when I was reading the Fiber Fanatics I decided I have to try them. So I called our new Super Walmart, still haven't been their out of fear, not a crowd person and they have them. Then I noticed that they said Kroger carries them so I called our local Krogers store and sure enough they have them. I am going tonight and searching for them or asking for help to find them. My student even raves about how good they are. Going to look for some recipes on their website.

Thats how I doing too... I even plan my breakfast the night before. Then I just can get up and eat it without any worrys. I enter it the night before too. ;)

I agree about freezing the extra food. Thats what I do sometimes.
Mostly I try to make enough for dd and myself to have 1 meal. Unless I am making up my chicken tacos or chicken salad. Then its twice that.
I make my Chicken tacos just like meat tacos. I even grind it up the same. Its real good. low fat cheese and shells and your talking yummmy! makes a good chicken taco salad too.

Chicken also makes real good enchilada. I cut up my baked enchiladas and put on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes, top with salsa. mmmm. My dd loves this. :D

zenor77 03-28-2007 01:01 PM

Yestardays calories: 1402

Fat 28%
40g fiber

My fiber is a little lower than I've been aiming for, but it's still pretty good I think. We went out for dinner last night due to my pms laziness. ;) My meal was heavier on protein vs fiber, so I think that's why it was low. Still not too bad though.

Speaking of fiber, I finally found a high fiber cereal to try. It's called Uncle Sam, it has 10g of fiber per serving and less than 1g of sugar. I would try Fiber One, but I don't like sweetened cereal (yes I'm weird.) I had it with soymilk and blueberries this morning and it was tasty! I guess it's been around for 100 years or something like that. I found it at the local health food store.

Abbynormal~:welcome2: I get the muchies sometimes too. I try to keep low calorie snacks around so that I don't feel bad about snacking when the need arises. My favorites are popcorn, baby carrots (which I share with my chihuahua), rye crackers with light cheddar, apples, mandarin oranges (fresh), and meringue cookies (from Trader joe's.) Oh, and sometimes, nothing satifies except a few small squares of pure dark chocolate!

Justme~I love lentils too! I like to throw a bunch of fresh spinach in my lentil soup to help up the calcium, iron, and fiber. I also like to make a cold salad with cooked lentils and pearl barley (just add your favorite veggies and low cal dressing.)

Woodlily~Littlered is right. Drink lots of water with your fiber! Personally, I haven't had any problems with upping my fiber a bit, but since I've always eaten lots of veggies and beans I probably wasn't upping it as much as other might be. I don't know, I only recently started keeping track thanks to Bobbi. I do know that since trying to up my fiber that my DH has had more gas (he eats what I make, so...) Poor man, I keep telling him to drink more water.

Littlered~Congrats on getting your family to join in! My DH has been talking about tracking stuff on fitday for himself. He's along for the ride, but he has lost more than me without hardly trying. Except now he's hit a plateau, so he wants to really "try." Lol, it's so frustrating sometimes how easy it is for him. I guess I shouldn't complain (he does have more to lose than me.)

Have a good day everyone!

CHICKEN ENCHILADAS

8 Oz. chopped chicken
1 cup chopped peppers, red and green
2 cups favorite salsa
1 cup low fat cheddar cheese
8 corn tortillas (6 in.)
½ pack of taco seasoning

Heat oven to 400 degrees F

Cook chicken and peppers till meat is done. Add 1 cup salsa and Taco seasoning. Simmer 3-4 min. till peppers are tender.

Remove from heat. Add ½ cup cheese.
Spread ¼ cup of remaining salsa on bottom of 13 X9 pan.
Warm tortillas between damp paper towels.
Spoon 1/3 cup mixture onto tortillas, spread down the center leant wise. Roll and put into pan, seem side down.

Repeat with all the shells. Spoon remaining salsa on the top and bake. 20 min. covered.

Remove from oven, and put other ½ cup cheese. Bake 2-3 more minutes.

The original calls for beef.
Calories with beef is 340 each.
With chicken I figured calories at about 245. Much healthier than beef.

welcome Abbynormal. :)

Abbynormal 03-28-2007 02:39 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! It's rainy here in Chicagoland. I've been making only enough food for DF and I. It seems to be helping!

CoolMom75 03-28-2007 08:33 PM

Congratulations on the 110, Robyn!!!! Wow!

Thanks for the recipe Justme33. It printed it off. mmmm!

Lara, lots of interesting thoughts here. I also feel like it gets easier and food becomes less of an issue after a while. But the scary part for me is after I reach my goal, or get very close to my goal. I can very easily slowly slip back into my food addiction. The last few years, just as I start gaining slightly, I get pregnant again. This time I dodn't want to get pregnant again, so won't have that excuse. Its going to be a constant battle to keep myself in check, I think.

I freeze alot of meals as most recipes make 4-6 servings and i am just cooking for dh and myself. Anytime i have leftovers i stick them into the freezer, it makes for a quick meal on a night when we get home from work late or if we dont feel like cooking.

rockinrobin 03-29-2007 06:39 AM

Good morning ladies.

Thanks for all the kinds words about my weightloss gals. It means so very much to me, I can't even begin to tell you.

Justme, I without a doubt can tell you what I am eating all day today and for the entire week in front of me. Planning, planning and then planning some more is KEY for me. It was from day one. I MUST have my day/week mapped out for me. I have to have my house completely "stocked" with all the "right" foods in order for this to work. I can't be out of any of my "supplies". I just can't let that happen. I need to set myself up for success. It's really, really important.

Abbynormal, welcome to the group and I LOVE your user name. I would also like to suggest to you to please check out the 100 lb. Club, found over in the Support Groups Forum. It is a great place and I think you will really, really like it there.

I went out for lunch yesterday with my DD. She had a panini with fresh mozzerella, roasted peppers, pesto and something else I don't remember and a side order of fries. I had a healthy salad, which was basically cut up lettuce, red onions, cucumbers, tomato and corn. I had it completely undressed and ate none of the yummy smelling/looking garlic bread. My daughter then asked me "Ma, what are you going to do when you're done" I told her I will never be done, this is how I plan to eat forever and ever. I think it was kind of eye opening for her.

Anyway, Wednesday's calories - about 1100.

Have a great day everyone, healthy and productive.

Robin... I couldn't agree with you more, Keeping my house stocked is an important key to losing weight. I have a wooden note board that holds a spool of adding machine paper that I use everyday. Whenever I get close to being out of something, I write it on my "grocery List". I've kicked DH more than once when he'll eat the last of something and not added it to the list, the dweeb!

Lara... One thing I like to do with Flat outs is toast/bake them in my toaster oven (you can use a regular oven) and top with applesauce, cinnamon and cool whip. Yummy! They also make great individual pizza's.
When you mentioned "Stinking Thinking" it reminded me of the famous motivational speaker, Zig Zigalar (spelling?)That's one of his favorite phrases. Have you ever listened to him?

Abby... :welcome:

Good advice, I do that with homemade vegetable soup. Only I put it in individual containers with the calories on top of each one. I also have the recipe on my fitday in the "customs" section. How's the beverage situation at your house? Have you stopped buying it yet? I'm afraid Cabernet is my down fall, I can't keep it in the house. That's what put the weight on me in the first place!

Theresa... Thanks for the link to Kelpiesoft, I added it to my favorites and will check it out as soon as I'm done posting today.

Have a good one, bobbi

P.S. You can buy the 100 calories bags of Kettle Corn now, it's my new favorite snack.

MINE TOO!! I've been having a 100 calorie bag a day in the late afternoon. The only problem is my 5 yr old is loving it too and my 100 calorie bag probably turns into a 50 calorie bag because he steals handfuls!! Gosh I love that stuff!!

I did good yesterday 1350 calories...not all coming from lentils either...LOL Once again the scale hasn't really moved much it was at 169.6 again this morning (bouncing 168-172 for awhile)

On a positive note...I bought a bunch of jeans and capris in sz 10. 12's were loose in the behind...LOL but I'm a little thicker around the waste I guess.....things just dont fit just right anymore.... I hate to even think/say this but the more I weight I loose the more I think I may need to get a tummy tuck some day...I had 2 c-sections/2 big babies and it just doesn't seem my stomach will ever look normal again. I guess we'll see how it goes when I get down to about 140, its not like I can AFFORD the procedure anyway :( AND my gosh I never got my tattoo because I fear pain...LOL I imagine recovery would be HORRIBLE!! :D

Everyone have a GREAT GREAT day!! Kids get out early for teacher meetings this afternoon....and there is a book fair. The kids are excited. Both teachers already said the meeting will be short and sweet...so glad they are both good kids and smart!! I did something right!! Tomorrow they go to daddy's for the weekend!! YEAH!!!! I get a break!! (THE BEST thing about being divorced is the free weekends!!)

coinlee 03-29-2007 10:13 AM

It's all going so well! Calories for yesterday were a little over 900, and I can feel my tummy shrinking and I'm not so hungry anymore :YAY:
I've lost my first three pounds and it took a week and a half...that seems pretty healthy.
JUSTME: you sound like me...I had two c-sections and my stomach will never be the same! I do have a tattoo, though, and I love it. I have a butterfly on my right shoulder and it makes me feel a bit "edgy" -- a little bit rebellious, ya know. And the pain is not that bad. I say GO FOR IT! It will give your soul a boost.

Ya'll are great ladies...I'll check in later.

GrammyL 03-29-2007 12:17 PM

Thanks for all the words of advise on the food storage. I did save a serving of couscous and broccoli from last nights dinner. I will them tomorrow with a Boca thicken patty for lunch.

Zoe ~ I try not to think about it because I also get nervous. The two times I got down to about 150, I also ended up pregnant. Now mind you my kids are 19 and 16 so that tells you how long it has been. I have gotten down into the 170’s since but turned around and gained that plus some. My Mom and I joke that if I lose it again I will end up pregnant.

Rockinrobin ~ Your lunch sounded yummy. Yes, my girls I think are having a hard time figuring out how I could possibly dream of giving up all the stuff we used to eat and choosing healthier versions. I really like the healthier version and wish they would try them and realize health is more important than bad food.

Bobbi ~ I actually get the stinking thinking from Joyce Meyers. No, I have never heard of him before but maybe I will try to find something. I am always looking for words of wisdom. I think the hard part is figuring out that the way you are thinking is just bad. Yes, reading your meals each day and how you use the falt out is what made me go looking. They have a website that has all kinds of recipes.

I eat a mini bag of reduced fat popcorn every night as a snack. Stems back from childhood and having it every night as a treat. I have denied myself the simple pleasure of it most of my adult life because of the calories and not knowing when to stop. These 100 cal bags and this group has brought this simple pleasure back into my life and it surely isn’t preventing me from losing weight. Thank you all for sharing what you eat during the day so I get ideas.

Justme ~ I feel your pain on the baggy butt. I always buy stretch jeans because they tend to be smaller in the rear. DH hates it but I also don’t want what I call elephant butt syndrome. HEHEHEHE! Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have said that.

Candy ~ That is why I like my tattoos, they make me feel rebellious and naughty. HEHEHE! Since I am usually the “good girl” and none confrontational, I feel my tattoo helps me balance on the wild side.

Well I better get going. Down one more pound today so I was walking on cloud 9 this morning, does that count for cardio. HEHEHEHEHE!

Anyway I have to get going because I need to work on a mailing.

Talk at you all later.

Calories for yesterday: 1490

My calories included TWO glasses of wine.
Oops! I guess I was a bit stressed yesterday. Actually, I know I was...

Fat 18%

Fiber 47 grams

So even though my fiber isn't as high as I'd like, I think the fiber is working. When I got on the scale this morning (I weigh nearly every morning--to keep me on track) I was down two more pounds. This is two days earlier than usual. So, yay fiber!!! I'm going to wait until tomorrow to change the ticker (just in case), but it tends to stick once off. :crossed:

Justme~ The worst part about tattoo recovery is the itching! So if you can handle a little itch (and you won't pick at it) then go for it. It's so wonderful to have a pretty work-of-art on your body. I love mine!

Littlered~ Thanks for the new website! I'm going to check it out today.

Justme: I understand about the tummy tuck thing. I had 2 big babies also (natural) and I am seeing the scale go down but with the tummy not changing it don't really feel like it. But my DH said that if I loose the weight I want to then he will pay for it for me (I have the check book so I don't know how he plans to do it,lol) but I am going to hold him to it. We also have parent teacher confrences today and the book fair, I think they plan it that way so they can get even more money out of us parents.

My eating has been really good lately. I think that I am going to make my Easter goal only 1.6 lbs to go!!!

Hey guys!

3-28 939 calories

I am in a REAL pickle right now... i am currently on my 4th day of phase one of south beach. I honestly hate it and i'm missing out on so many great foods. Do you guys think i should stick with it or move to a plan with moderation? Fruits, veggies, whole wheat, lean protein, etc?

Just looking for some input- of course the people at a south beach board told me to stick with it but its hard to after reading about how a lot of them have regained their weight!

Hi everyone.

I want to thank everyone for their support. :D

Especially Bobby, Robin and Susan. I have learned more just reading your post than you can imagine. The knowledge everyone shares here has made it possible to have my first month be a big success.

I have lost 5 pounds. And according to my official weigh in at Curves...
I have lost 6.5 inches total in the last 2 weeks. Its not much yet... But it makes my hard work feel worth it!!!

Tuesday I start the Curves Protien Diet. I hope it makes my losses bigger!

My hubby is taking me out to celebrate. Now I have to go to the web site and see what I can eat and stay out of trouble. ;)

zenor77 03-29-2007 05:22 PM

Littlered~ :congrat: 5lbs and 6.5 inches is great! Keep up the good work! I too have found a lot of inspiration from those you mentioned (and more.) :D This forum is so great for helping me stay on track. BTW, the new picture of you Dgd is so adorable! She's a cutie!

Rocknroll~ I think the key is finding a program that you can stick with. I tried South beach a few years ago and I couldn't get past the third day, so it wasn't for me. That's not to say it won't work for you though. Have you looked at what you would need to eat to maintain once you reach your goal? Is that something you could do the rest of your life? I think the key is finding a way of eating that you can sustain permanently (upping calories for maintenance of course.)

Hey girls and J-man,

I'm having a really tired day and am a little worried I'm getting sick. As several of you with kids have pointed out, tomorrow is the last day of school before spring break, and I think DH and I are both quite fatigued (he teaches too). It is absolutely NOT in my plans to be sick over break - we have too much to do! Plant the garden, do lots of yard work, maybe paint a room or two, relax, exercise, spend time with family, etc. etc. So I will go to bed early tonight and try to ward off this sore throat, achy, sick feeling.

It sounds like everyone is having a great week. Good job Theresa -- 6.5 inches must be feeling really good! You'll have to buy new summer clothes!

Oh, about South Beach -- my experience was like Zenor's. I lasted just about 3 days and felt quite weak and had head aches. My sister talked me into it because she loved it and did great with it, but I just don't like eating that much protein or restricting my carbs. However, I've seen people have great success with it, so I agree with Zenor - maybe give it a week or two and if you still don't like it, go back to calorie counting.

Tomorrow is the last day for us (officially, that is) on biggest loser. Last week's weigh in was up 1 lb. and I had to move my dang ticker up. I think I'll be moving it DOWN tomorrow (better be!!), so please send positive thoughts my way... or should I say my 'weigh'? ;)

Bye for now,

Welcome NoJellyBelly http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/gen126.gif

Zenor, Claire.
thanks!

pic of dgd is first one sitting up completely on her own!
Age 20 months.
We were so excited to see it. She is behind her age due to illness. She is healthy as a horse. And as you can see... she is the highlight of my day. ;)

I agree that finding a plan that works for each individual is the way to go.

I am still not sure about the High Protein diet. I like lots more veggies and fruits than the plan shows. I guess I will give it a try. Who knows... might do real well on it. (I hope).
Has anyone here done a HIGH PROTEIN diet? how did you do on it?

walking2lose 03-29-2007 06:03 PM

:welcome3: Nojelly... we must have posted at the same time.

Good luck to you on your journey! Do you plan to (or are you already) counting calories? Lots of us here us fitday to do that, and I personally really like it. Let us know your thoughts, questions, concerns. You'll find lots of support here!
