:cheer3: GO BLUE!!!!! :cheer3:
My name is Kim and this is my first challenge. I am 51 with very slow metabolism. I think I have yo yo'd so much that my string got stuck. I have 3 children of which two are getting married next year, DD in May and DS in September leaving me one child at home...another DS. My goal is to get into a size 10 dress by May since I already bought the dress on clearance for $40.....just got to get there. I am working hard at toning with my YMCA membership and just joined WW doing Flex 6 weeks ago. My goal is to get toned and hot for the weddings next year. I think the challenge will be awesome for me! So glad to be on the BLUE TEAM!!!!! We are family!!!!!

Hi Everyone!
I'm fairly new here.. Joined a long time ago but just recently came back.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I'm 32 - from northeastern PA.
I am single - no kids or boyfriend at the moment.

I am trying to follow Weight Watchers.. I do good about 4 days a week and bad 3.. But i'm hoping this challenge will be the accountability I need.

My goal this challenge is to get in the 240-250 range by the end of this challenge.

I wish everyone lots of luck and look forward to the next 13 weeks!!!

Question for fauxtini....where abouts in Kentucky? I live in Sellersburg Indiana which is just accross the river from Kentucky. I actually work in Kentucky, Louisville...that is. Maybe we can meet some weekend....just let me know. It is always easier to have someone close who shares some of the same goals. Of course....I am an older adult with a very young mind. LOL!!!!

mountain mama 09-14-2008 06:26 PM

Iwanawurkit: I'm actually in the process of moving from Kansas to Kentucky right now. i should be there by the second week in Oct. I'm moving to Radcliff, near fort knox. We shoudl totally meet up in Louisville or something sometime! That would be great! I won't be working for like 3 months until I get a work visa ( im canadian), so I will be free pretty much whenever you can meet up :) And.. hey! Age ain't nothin but a number, lady!

Wow I can see I'm gonna have to be on my toes to keep up with this thread!

Hey, I'm "Blue" and happy to be assigned to the BLUE team! I'm following a few different plans for weight loss: mypyramid plan to make sure I get in all the good foods my body needs which also works by calorie counting, and trying to stick to better choices with You: On A Diet. I think I've finally found the winning combination for weight loss for me. I tend to struggle with binge-eating and falling off plan, but I think I have a found a way of eating that will help me get past those struggles! I'm hoping to lose 15 pounds with this challenge.

Go BLUE team! :cheer3:

Hi all! I see some familiar faces/names here! I was on the fabulous black team last challenge, and am very excited to join the bluesers this time around! These challenges are great for keeping me on track.

Hmm, a little about me... I'm 21 (but turning 22 a week from Tuesday :D), from Massachusetts, back home in MA after going to college in Illinois. Um, I have a pet chinchilla, named Albus. He's very cute. :) My goal for this challenge is to average around a pound a week loss, but first I have to get away from the 150-152 range, where I've been hovering since July.

Looking forward to getting to know you all! And congratulations to Kofarq and Fauxtini on your weddings!!

Annie aka dogpal - I love aqua fitness as well - maybe you can share some effective moves - I am in a class 2 times a week - used to go 3 times a week

I am beginning to think that my metabolism is in stuck mode as well - I will be working on balancing my foods - will check out the my pyramid site mentioned

I am wondering how this challenge works since it goes along with the tv show.

oh, I live and work in CT. near the Rhode Island and Massachusetts border - it's called the quiet corner of the state

Good afternoon team!

I'm so excited to see all the Canada talk. ;) I live in Alberta but I was born out in Nova Scotia and most of my family is still out there. Very nice to see some fellow Canadians on board!

I got out for a run in the ravine by my home today and though my time and distance were reasonable I was not feeling very enthusiastic. I chalk it up to the 4 days I took off and the time of day that I ran. My route took me to the dog park where I met up with DH and DD and DD was so excited to run the last 30 meters with me. There's some good incentive for me!

Hope you've all had a fabulous OP weekend and that you're ready for a great week!

Oh, and Dogpal, may I just say that I am in total awe of your enormous loss?!! I'm so glad you're on our team!

McKenziesmomma 09-14-2008 07:42 PM

fauxtini, JKS, Blue Serenity - Glad we are all on the same team together!!!
Its nice to see some familiar people, but I'm looking forward to makeing new friends too :cheer3:

chellez: Thanks for the info...I'm excited and ready to get to work!!! :D

How do you know what team you are on? I signed up and submitted my weight on time but I have no clue which team I"m on?

never mind

Doragone 09-14-2008 08:00 PM

WooHoo to all that's Blue!!!

Hello teammates, I'm Dora, from Oregon and like other PNW residents, I love it here 3/4 of the time. Can't have beautiful greenery without a lot of water right? A fair exchange in my mind.

I will be turning 58 :yikes:during this challenge and have a short term goal of reaching onderland by then. This is my second TBL challenge with the blue team. I lost 25 lbs. on the last one and hope to repeat that on this one, bringing me close to 185.

I write everything down :write:into Fit Day, which is big for me - I never have done this in the past, so I think that was the biggest help for me last challenge. I didn't add exercise into my mix until late in the last challenge, so that will likely help me this time. I did injur my L knee however, which has been getting worse, but I have an acupuncture appointment the 24th of this month, so I am hopeful my exercise routine won't be hampered too much. My R knee is starting to have a twinge as well. (sigh)

I use WATP dvds, elliptical and body weight exercises alternately. I hardly miss a day of WATP, and even had it with me yesterday while at the coast, doing my routine in the hotel room! First thing in the morning, I make up 2 bottles of water (adding Propel vitamin mix) which I always finish by the end of the day and maybe some more.

I added more protein to my diet, more fiber - fruits, vegetables, grains, the latter a result of learning from vegan members of our group, specifically Josephine - Blue Team's last challenge biggest loser.

MJ made some remarks that fit me to a T - that once I lose a significant amount, but not to goal, I am in my danger zone too. I get overconfident :rollpin:so am so glad to have this challenge under way to help me to also keep focus. MJ you also have a bad knee, which you said you hid behind. Glad to hear you're "coming out" and be my example.

I like gday's line "Blue blood to the end!" very apropo.;)

Kim, glad to meet another "older adult", but I've got you beat. Like Christina who felt a little saddened to be the heaviest, I too feel a little out of place being the oldest.:bb: But if I take my cue from Christina - that just means I have to be a better example for those coming up this "old" ladder. I liked your line about being a yo yo dieter whose string got stuck - got a chuckle there. :D Like you, too, I'm "an older adult with a very young mind."

So c'mon bluesers, let's kick some figurative red team butt!!:club:

Go Blue!!!:cheer3:

Manick 09-14-2008 08:39 PM

:carrot: Happy to see everybody reporting in and chattin'!

Nori I'm in Portland. I love this city and this whole area, I've mostly lived here since I was 12 and cannot imagine moving. Days like today are spectacularly worth the winters, its gorgeous, warm & sunny with a cool morning and night. Every time I travel outside the area, and country for that matter, I find this place pretty hard to beat (well, Canada does have some awfully pretty parts too ;))

I'm currently trying to figure out what to make for dinner. I have 4 giant bunches of parsley and I'm thinking Tabbouleh...time to pick some tomatoes:cool:

Jessica I didn't know you had a chinchilla, I think they are really cute :D

sportmom 09-14-2008 08:46 PM

Hey all, I'm Fran. I'm glad Chelle posted her dates this all started so that I can remember going back to 05 with her. Can't remember what round this is for me, but I was in that first round that went kaput that she stepped in to run. So gosh, maybe 7th time around? Geez, how sad it that?!

Well then, all the more reason to say this is the quit goofing off challenge. To spend less time ON the computer and more time ON my feet. Working out, not surfing out (the web that is). I want to get back to the energy I had after losing 30+ lbs to where I was vacuuming the lampshades in my house. Yep, seriously.

Looking forward to the show starting Tuesday nite!
