Good morning everyone!

Cat, Keep the miles you've already earned. Looks like a few of you will go above and beyond the 2000 miles though.

Tina! I hope you have a nice day today!!

I am soooooooooooo sore from my workout yesterday. I haven't been able to hit the gym and therefore gave up, so I haven't exercised in a while. Not to mention Jess is home this week, so I worked out on the machines and stuff after my hour of Wogging on the TM. I have to get the strength training in somehow, and I can't do it in front of him. I usually avoid the machines, except the one for the quads and hamstrings, and the chest one, because I feel like the machines are doing the work, so I like to use good old fashioned dumbells. I also did some lower ab work while there and I am hurting today, lol. I have lots to do today, so hopefully I can fit in my GYM time too.

It does suck how your body retains water when your muscles are sore. I jumped on the scale, like I do almost every morning and it says I am up almost 3 lbs. That's totally impossible since I worked out as hard as I did and I only ate a little over 1000 calories yesterday. That's a good 1200 to 1400 LESS than I have the past 7 days, so that's BS. Grrrrrrr....Not getting frustrated though, I know it's water retention, so I am not gonna stress it. I am just gonna go sweat it out.

Have a great day everyone!

Do you find it harder or easier to lose weight in the summertime? Why? And do you have any solutions to help?

I always find it harder in the summertime. You would think because I have more time in the summer that it would be easier, but I find that things usually get hectic and I get lazy or have way too many treats. The stucture of the school year is easier for me because once I get into my routine, it is easier to follow.

Vanity- I wouldn’t worry about a small gain after increasing your exercise. It always happens to me. I think it’s just your body adjusting to the increased activity. Ice cream is my weakness...I love it. I’ve switched to the fat free, no sugar and they have a lot of flavors that are really good. I’d never stick to my diet if I couldn’t have ice cream at all.

Melissa- no need to be jealous, you will be there soon.

Cathy- definitely don’t apologize. We all have bad weigh ins. Sounds like you did everything right. Good luck with getting that scale moving in the right direction. You can do it. Swimming is a great exercise.

Heather- glad you got back on track.

Shelby- congratulations on the good weigh in!

Stacy- glad your back op. Good luck getting back to exercising. It’s always hard getting back into it, but you can do it...just give yourself that little push you need.

Tina- Happy Birthday!!! Don’t eat too much cake

Karen- I definitely understand what you mean about exercising in the heat. I love to walk but don’t do it as much in the summer because of the heat down here. I end up doing more of my exercising indoors, in the air conditioning.

Danielle- that is great advice you gave to Cathy. I will do my best to remember it when I get frustrated.

Idealmuse- sounds like you are really challenging yourself and meeting those challenges. Way to go! Sounds like the changes have been for the good. I wouldn’t worry about what the scale says, you’re getting much healthier.

Kelly- sounds like you are doing awesome. You seem so motivated. Way to go!!! I like that quote.

Bjeweled- you are so right about planning for celebrations. That’s a good reminder.

Thistimeisdifferent- instead of being angry with yourself, you should be proud of yourself for making the decision to do something about it. So many people don’t. I hope you get out of your mental funk soon.

Oh yea, after hearing you guys talk about the 30 day shred, I ordered it. I’m going to try to do it for the 30 days straight and see if it helps get my scale moving more.

I read this yesterday and thought casually, yeah, I understand that. Then I went grocery shopping. And it hit me hard! 10 bucks for cherries?! 7 for peaches?! The cashier kept giving me weird looks as I made him take half of my cart back to produce.

What does everyone think about canned fruit (in light syrup)?

Toni
Canned fruit is okay I think, they now make some with spenda instead of syrup. Don't forget about frozen fruit too. I love frozen fruit.

Good morning ladies! Thank you all for the b-day wishes! Today I'm going to my MIL's to swim with the kids. Tonight Kev is taking the kids and I out for dinner and then back home for cake...Madison spilled the beans this morning that "daddy got me a special cake with my name on it, and my name is in purple my favorite color!"LOL! I told her I would act surprised. I came downstairs this morning and he has the whole kitchen decorated. His family was really big into stuff like that, mine not so much. It's really a special feeling though and it is just banners and stuff from the dollar store. Anyway I'm babbling now. I just wanted to check in and say thank you and hello! Hope you all have a great day~

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I get that invisible feeling a lot, too. And quite a bit recently. It stinks! Thanks for starting a new exercise thread. I don't think I finished my June stats so I need to find where I wrote down what I did so I can update!

Tina - I hope you have a wonderful day! Enjoy!

Have a wonderful day to all of my other wonderful Red team ladies!!

well me and my next door neighbor did the WATP 2 miles (of the 4 fast miles) outside under our carport during lunchtime....had the big fan on the floor going cuz its HOT here in TX! sweat city in those 25 minutes this afternoon
just fed me and the kids and they're about to get a nap....then have someone coming soon to buy my big 10x10 canopy in the backyard..so gonna try to help take that apart in this heat (equals workout again) LOL and hope somewhere in there while kids are napping to do my day 1 of the Shred.....we shall see but at least i did half my planned exercise today! 1st time in at least 2 weeks.....i plan on 2 miles and 20 minutes of the shred each day.....so i'm half way there on the 2 miles, just need to try my shred here i go to put kids up to bed....then maybe do the shred before they show up to buy my canopy/gazebo (those big metal ones with the curtain screens).....love craigslist sell sell sell

i did it! day 1 of the 30 day shred...OMG! it kicked my butt! couldnt hang with them on a few things, like pushups and squats...maybe next time i'll use less than 5# weights....OMG.....i burned enough calories in that 20 minutes to cancel out my lunch...and my WATP earlier cancelled out half breakfast...so i hope to stay OP today, so far so good....and lose some weight tomorrow after all this sweating....
i did the shred in the a/c in the house.....and i sweat more in that 20 minutes than the 25 minutes of WATP outside in the 90 degree TX heat.....WTH?! LOL oh well....i'm done on workouts....need a shower now lol but need to finish cleaning the backyard up before the lady shows up to buy the canopy....

yay! Shred is awesome! I did day 5 last night and it ALMOST didn't kick my bottom. Except the pushups - which wouldn't be so bad if I weren't trying to do the 100 pushup challenge at the same time as doing the Shred!

I'm hoping someday to actually make it to level 2 of the Shred. I made my husband who is in WAY better shape than me (or so I thought!) do the Shred with me last night and he pooped out on the pushups and the lunges and the anterior shoulder raises! He was sweating just as much as I was! It made me feel WAAAAAAAAY better about huffing and puffing like a beached whale everytime I'm doing it...

Today's been rough - I'm busy as mothering crap, we had a 2.5 hour meeting in the middle of the day followed by a California Pizza Kitchen lunch and the AC is down in our part of the building so it's pushing 85 or 90 in here...phew...I'm sweating like crazy!

I did do my 2nd day of the first week of C25k today. I tried walking at 3.7mph and running at 5.5mph. It's better but I think on Thursday I'm going to bump it up to 4mph walking and 6mph running and see. Hopefully that is good - oooo and I get to start week 2 on Saturday!

Happy Birthday Tina!
Its pretty hot here today....we were out for canada day festivities all morning, it was fun, but I feel melted....
Im sorry i havent been around for all my teamies for a few weeks now.
Im setting a goal to really try and be around for these last weeks.

I havent gotten to the gym in a while, but Ive been hauling water around and gardening for at least 4 hours everyday, so I havent seen the scale go up too much with my bad eating. Am going to get that in control here today...been drinking my water again at least!
Hubby and I are in a bad fight right now......Its been a few days now and is starting to take its toll on our family.

Hope you all have a good day!

Well, I'd planned to do this at the halfway point but I guess it's the 3/5ths point so that's close enough.

I took my measurements at the beginning (or close to it - 4/29/08) and then I took them again this afternoon (7/1/08).

Neck - 14.5 to 14 (-0.5 inches)
Bicep - 11.5 to 13 (+1.5 inches)
Forearm - 11 to 10 (-1.0 inches)
Bust - 41.5 to 38 (-3.5 inches)
Waist - 35.5 to 34 (-1.5 inches)
Hips - 43.5 to 41 (-2.5 inches)
Thigh - 26 to 25 (-1.0 inches)
Calf - 16.25 to 15.5 (-0.75 inches)

My total inches lost was 9.25. And I can't really think that I suddenly put on 1.5 inches of fat in my biceps...hopefully that was a muscle gain!

We know you are here lol, you aren't invisible

Sorry, not a lot of time to chat. Have a few more days work and I am done done done. Going to sleep in Tuesday morning until 8 am I deserve it lol. My legs are so sore, oh my gosh. I spent an hour bent over pulling grass from between the concrete drive. I feel like I have done 50 lunges lol.

Kelly- you really are doing amazing and it's showing in your measurements. Keep it up!

Rennie- all that bending adds up. you got a real workout pulling that grass.

Karla- I hope you and your hubby patch things up soon. I'm glad you haven't seen the scale go up. Now, get to the gym!!! Honestly though, yard work and gardening is more work than you realize.

I'm having a bad day...not diet wise...I'm doing okay there. I am just really depressed and down today for some reason. I get like that sometimes. I have bad days where I rehash the past and get upset because of it. It will pass. I just hate feeling like this. I think I'll go workout. That should put my mind somewhere else and give me a positive focus.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.
