I'm taking my freebie week this week. Something doesn't seem to be right with me and the scale. Plus i've been have a migraine episode, I had one back in Oct. for a week or two that went away after I started eating 5 meals daily again. I think it's coming back b/c I only eat 3 times a day. So i'm hoping this will pass.

Good morning Red Team! You all are amazing! Last week was hard for me exercise-wise. I promise to exercise this week. My calories have been fine, but they have actually been too low the last few days. I have been incredibly busy and I honestly haven't had time to eat. I'm going to eat in a higher calorie range today. I don't want to totally mess up my metabolism by keeping my calories too low.

Laura-- I'm so impressed with your half-marathon! You did great!

Danielle-- How fun to meet the BL contestants. I bet it was so inspiring!

I was in 7th grade in Choir. We watched it live and were all horrified by the results. It had a huge impact on us. The sad thing is that it could have been prevented.

My dh is teaching a math class for homeschooled teens. At the very first class, he told the kids that they were the committee deciding to launch the Space Shuttle Challenger. He gave them the same info that the real decision makers actually had. In the end, his students chose not to launch the Space Shuttle. He then showed them what actually happened in history. They went on to discuss how important math was in the "real world" and how it impacts so many decisions. It was a great experience for the kids.

Danielle, what new fitness book did you get? I just got Jillian Michaels' "Making the Cut" on Sunday, but haven't read it yet. I'm currently reading "Fast Food Nation". I know I'm a bit behind the curve on that one (it seems like everyone else read it years ago when it first came out), but I'm still really enjoying it. I found one really interesting fact: Willard Scott was the original model for Ronald McDonald, but then was deemed too overweight. McDonalds wanted someone thinner to sell their products. Interesting when you consider how heavy the typical McDonalds food makes people!

Mom23, I am very proud, but as for how I feel, it's mostly sore I'm going to spend a lot of time on the bike tonight, which somehow eases the soreness out of my muscles.

Karen, nice to see you back, and congratulations on the huge loss!!! It's so great when you can find a real life friend for encouragement. I have a coworker who's trying to lose weight, and we're always IMing back and forth about various diet-related issues.

Tina and Karen: I heard a great idea on one of the diet blogs I read. You have a potluck dinner with your friends, but require them to bring healthy food that fits certain calorie/fat/whatever requirements. Teach them to use DailyPlate or some other software to figure out the nutritional information, and have them bring copies of the recipes. Not only do you get great food and great company, but you leave with a ton of great new recipes! I haven't done this yet, especially because my apartment is a bit small for a dinner party, but it sounds like a fantastic idea.

Roni, we are definitely not "putting up with you." I love having you hear, as you always have some great things to contribute! Thanks for keeping this thread chatty

Ideal, I use Daily Plate as my primary plan, which makes me a calorie counter. I love it because it's flexible - I can indulge as long as I eat lighter the rest of the day. And because I log in so often, it keeps me completely accountable. I can't go way over without realizing it and making the conscious decision to go off plan! I've gotten really good at estimating the calories in foods now, too, which makes everything quicker and easier.

I'm down 0.6 this week. Not huge, but I'm just happy to be down at all after all the slip ups! Hopefully this week will be better.

Answer to this week's question: I was in my mom's tummy, still about 6 months away from being born

Jen, what a neat lesson! Though I'm curious if the kids knew about the Challenger when they were making their decision. Did he tell them it was data based on the Challenger, or was it a blind decision?

Sigh...I wish we were getting slammed with snow! sniff sniff.... It's the end of January and it's sunny and 61 degrees outside! Now I know most people adore this and usually I do too, in MARCH and April! LOL! I want SNOW!

Anywho, thanks girls for welcoming into your fold. I LOVE the red team and it's leader muchos! So I reckon you're all stuck with me! I changed my sig line to support all teams since I am feeling so misplaced. I mean, support is what it's all about right?

Thanks. Doesn't happen to often that I lose that much weigh in a week. My official 2 week weigh in is Wednesday. Bet it still shows the 2lb loss. That is just how my body is. It loves my fat and isn't going to give it up any sooner than it has too lol.

Leslie is so perky, Ok, she drives some crazy but her perkiness is just what drives me. I am like her when it comes to working out. To me it is fun and when I have someone to workout with, I am the one cracking the jokes and making them have fun. Cracks me up when my son and his girlfriend work out with me. She can't follow instructions and doesn't know her left from her right and he tries to make every move look " manly ". I tryed a few workout videos that weren't hers. Let me tell you, I couldn't move my body like those woman do unless I had medical assistance standing by lol.

You are doing so great with the exercise. Don't push to much. It isn't really setting yourself up for the failure thing I worry about. It is more, you doing to much to fast. Give the body time to get use to moving so much. Sorry about the dot thing. I don't have PMS ( everyone only watches out when I break a nail lol ). My daughter has enough PMS for the whole state. Don't worry about faces lol. When they say " I will take care of it " let them lol. Most of my videos were free or about free. lol I got them at yard sales, used at video stores and at the sales at library lol. Only have a couple that were bought new and a friend gave me a couple too.

0 loss or gain is ok. The body is getting use to the weight changes. Along comes the DOT, wow no gain is terrific.

Heehee, I've never heard it called THAT. That's cute! Does it stand for something? I suppose its better than what my husband calls it, THE MONSTER!

Leslie is great, she doesnt grate on my every last nerve like Denise Austin. Someone needs to just tape her mouth shut. Great workouts, horrible voice!

Good Afternoon red team. I just finished Week 2 day 1 of c25k and OMG!! My legs are screaming! You wouldnt think that extra 30 seconds of running each rep would make that big a difference but it did!! OMG I was dying! I couldnt even run the last rep I just walked as fast as I could which is probably about as fast as I run anyway LOL! Oye!! I may be repeating week 2.

hmmm...Leslie...I dunno, I like her workouts but I dont so much like her! I prefer to just listen to the ipod and watch for the movements, makes it a little awkward though!

Cathy in Canada....we got a little more snot this morning too, not enough to get slammed! I wanna get slammed! LOL! I would love to be snowed it! As long as I got groceries to feed the family and some movies and books I'm good!

Laura...that is an interesting little tidbit, I knew the first Ronald was Willard but I never heard the details. Very interesting that they were conscious of that image way back then. And actually you can eat mcdonalds but portion control and with moderation. Have you seen the movie Super Size Me? Everyone got all up in arms about it. When if you think about it. What did you think was gonna happen with you eat it 3 times a day 7 days a week. Who does that? I found it extremely unrealistic and tried to use scare tactics rather that just the facts. The other thing that really bothered me about that movie was the end when they showed the food under the glass and how long it took to decompose. So unrealistic...digestion starts the moment it hits your tongue. Thats what all those acids and hormones in our body are for. LOL..okay got off on a tangent! Sorry about that! Way to go on your loss!!!

Jen...we did that same activity in my management class. watched a video all about it too. Very good exercise! Keep up the good work! Sounds like you are right on top of everything Way to go!!

OptimistK....I hope you can figure out whats causing those migraines. I'm lucky I've never had one but from what I hear I wouldnt wish it on anyone! Feel better soon!

Muse...what I'm liking about my program is that I'm not dieting. I eat whatever I want, I just have to use my portion control and moderation to make it fit into my daily points. I have this mental thing going on because I feel like I need to be dieting to make my goals by graduation. So its a struggle to talk myself out of it. And to know that I can do this, eat like this and still lose weight! Very hard concept to wrap my dieting brain around. Way to go on your loss!!! And you broke the 220s!! Can you smell onederland?

This is what makes our team so great, there are those of us who can post personals to everyone, and there are those who come, read and give us updates. Hello ladies! Well all the schools are closed today because of the darn snow. It dumped on us, then rained and got slushy, then froze. Supposed to continue to snow today, tomorrow, Thursday and Friday. I could have stayed in Alaska for this. Argggg...can you tell I am not a fan of the snow?! lol This week's WI was a maintain for me, which is good, because I did horribly. Hope this week will be better for me. Good luck to you all!

Melissa, I agree completely with the portion control. There was actually another movie made called "Me and Mickey Ds." Not too many people know about it, because it didn't fit the sensationalist story lines of the mainstream media, but it's about someone who ate McDonalds all day every day and LOST weight. McDonalds does have some healthy options, but of course if you eat double quarter pounders and large fries you're going to gain weight!

Laura....I'd love to check that movie out. I once had a nutritionist tell me that there is no such thing as a bad food, just a bad proportion and I totally agree with that. I dont know about you, but seeing some of these burger joints with the 3 or even 4 meat patties...just grosses me out! Gone are the days of a hamburger, small fries and small coke being a meal. Everythings gotta be bigger and better. What I'm slowly learning that the grilled chicken is tasty too, it doesnt have to be deep fried.

Tina - Thanks for asking! Flooring is 1/3 of the way done. Gelato is a kind of ice cream, I think it's Italian in origin. It's closer to sorbet than ice cream, the flavour is always really intense. Raspberry is really good, and so is orange, but for some reason, I was craving coconut this week!

Danielle - how is the new fitness book going?

Yello, the fitness book is great. It has all 3 trainers giving their best exercises for optimum loss. Also alot of great info and tips from past constestants about what has both worked and hasn't worked for them. Love it! Even all the more better that I got it for free! Thanks for asking!

I did a WATP 2mile fast walk and then did the first portion of the Power Sculpt dvd from TBL with Jillian. I am beat and am feeling muscles I never knew I had!
