Onthetee.....
Does changing the flour change the texture of whatever you are baking??
I love the idea of substituting the flour for whole wheat! I need to try that!

Azure 10-07-2007 11:06 PM

I just weighed in :( I'm up 6 pounds from my last weigh in and I'm a pound heavier than when I STARTED. I'm pretty confident that I'll be back down by next weigh in...at the very least, I'm going to start myself GOING DOWN. I'm not letting it get me upset, though...I'm just sorry that I hit my team with a number that's going to be detrimental.

Dea 10-08-2007 08:15 AM

I went up this week too.....but I was expecting to.
I think I am going to use a freebie today. We get two if I remember correctly.
Next week will be better!

chellez 10-08-2007 08:19 AM

Kim - Don't worry about it! Changing diet plans is more than enough to make me gain weight so I can see where anyone else would! You'll be losing in no time!

As for me... I was going to weigh in tonight before I went to school but when I hopped on my home scale I was still up 3 pounds. This is more than likely because Daniel is more interested in getting pizza for game day than buying real groceries. So I'm taking my last freebie week because I plan on really getting to it from now on!

I really wish I felt like talking but I'm honestly kind of tired / moody lately so I'll have to sit this morning out. Maybe I'll feel more normal after the Monday morning wears off...

Good morning, Blues...and Happy Monday!

Yesterday was clean house/laundry day. My house is nice and sparkly today There is just something about a clean house that makes me feel so relaxed and happy. Now, if I can just convince Hubby, the DDs, the three dogs, the gerbil and the bird to keep it this way! Somehow, I don't think its gonna stay this way for long. Since I was so busy and.... burning tons of calories...I took the day off from the treadmill. I did exercise for 6 days last week and I can already see the difference in my stamina...not to mention the looseness of clothes. So, today I will be back on the treadmill for an hour and will continue trying to increase the total calories and distance each day.

Utahgirl - When do you leave Korea to come home? My Dad was career Air Force and I joined after high school graduation. Seeing the world was an awesome experience, but there really is nothing like home.
NoVaVTFan - How goes the house cleaning and organizing? Making life changes can be extremely difficult. Hope you can get going on your plan again soon.
Tina - Wow, you are just a party animal! Congrats on staying on-plan while still enjoying yourself.
Selina - You rock! Today is day 44 for you, right? Yesterday, while doing laundry, I was folding my size 22/24 shirts...then, I thought to myself "why am I keeping these...I don't wear that size anymore!" I put them in the Goodwill bag and they are outa here. That felt incredible.
On-the-tee - Pass some tomatoes over here, would ya.....I love fresh tomatoes! I also love Snickerdoodles....but, you can keep those.:D
Azure - I'm sorry that you've been having a rough time with your plan. But, we have faith in you....you can get going again!
Dea - It is very very difficult to stay on-plan at Disney, so don't be too hard on yourself. I'm glad you had a great time. This is the best time of year to go.....after summer and before the holidays. You don't want to ever go in the summer....the crowds are crazy and it is very very hot.
Michelle - Sorry to hear that you're having a moody Monday. Hope the day improves for you.

Don't forget to weigh-in today! Let's Go Blue!

Utahgirl1982 10-08-2007 09:12 AM

Hey Chelle......I put down on my weigh in that I am taking a freebie week due to TOM.

GirlyGirlSebas.....I arrive back in the states on Sat.....I am so happy. There are just so many things that you take for granted in the stated that other countries do not have and you don't realize it until after you do not have it anymore. American things also cost an arm and a leg sometimes two legs over here! Will be glad to have a Wal-mart back again and to be able to cook real food! It is not so bad when you are in the service cause you have access to the commissary(sp?) that he regular food for not that bad of prices...but when you are a civilian you do not have access to that and it stinks! Oh well. Can't wait for Sat to come!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

CharityKB 10-08-2007 09:42 AM

Hello everyone!

Well, I am up a lot this week (again), so I will probably take my other freebie week - but that will be 2 in a row! I have been out of town a lot the last couple of weeks and it has really been hard on me. We went to my inlaws this past weekend (from Thurs-Sun) and ate out nearly every meal! It was really hard to stay even close to on program. I am up a lot and if I don't get a lot of it off this week, I will probably drop from the challenge, as I don't think it is fair for the rest of the team. I guess I will see what next week's weigh in is like.

Good luck to the rest of you this week!

denice81 10-08-2007 09:58 AM

Morning everyone, i just weighed in and showed no change from last week. I'm kinda bummed about that because when i stepped on the scale on friday morning I was down almost 2 lbs from monday then went and blew it all this weekend (as usual:() I still can't shake the endless hunger, i've been eating more veggies, drinking hot tea to try and warm up, but my body just seems to want cheese and other fatty stuff:dizzy: It got down to 23 degrees here last night and so i'm blaming that, but going to start having bowls of homemade turkey chili for lunch everyday this week, maybe that will help. ug. So sorry to not contribute to the loss this week, i will have a better week for next weigh in, promise!

Catsgetnhealthy 10-08-2007 10:49 AM

Hiya Ladies~
Hmmm, seems like a few here are bit discouraged this morning. Well the way I see it is ya just gotta keep on keeping on. Ms. CharityKB :coach: you are not dropping out of the challenge, what good will that do you? Stay and lets do this together. We all have our good weeks and not so good weeks, but the point of this challenge, to me anyways, is to get out of the diet mentality and learn healthy tips for lifestyle changes. I think doing this together we'll accomplish that. So I really hope no one drops out of this just because of having some not so good weeks. I know I've been there plenty, but staying doesn't let me give up on me. And the support here is fantastic.
So just keep swimming, just keep swimming..........:D
I gotta go get a shower and head to my WW meeting, I'll post when I get back.

Tina30 10-08-2007 10:51 AM

Good morning ladies! Okay I think it's time for a Blue pep rally! It sounds like a lot of you are down. Everyone has bad days/weeks/months....we can't give up! This weight did not just happen over night and it's not reasonable to think we are going to lose it over night! Part of this challange is having a team to cheer you up when your down! Gaining a few pounds is very disappointing, believe me I know, but quitting on yourself and your team is much more disappointing! Hang in there girls...there are going to be more rough patches ahead, but just think of how proud you will feel when you get through them and make it to the other side! I for one would rather take a loss as a team then have someone quit because they gained! We started as a team and we'll finish as a team! Don't give up girls, PLEASE!!! We can all do this! No more talk of letting your team down....the only way you'll let us down is by quitting on us and yourself! Hang tight! We are all in this together!

Chellez- What has you so down hun? Maybe it's just TOM...I know around that time I am miserable! I feel like our team moral is slipping! Didn't we have a rule in one of the challange were "No Sorry's" were allowed? Hang in there girl! I know this is a lot on your shoulders! Cheer up!

Rhonda- You are doing great!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE a clean house! Mine is clean, but it does need a good picking up today! I'm so proud of how well you've been doing this past week! I know you feel awesome! Keep it up! Maybe you could help me cheer the ladies up?

Charity- Please don't feel like you would let us down....only by quitting would you do that! Your worth this! Hang in there hun!

Azure- I was on Atkins, a LONG time ago, and had the same problem! I lost weight left and right, when I followed it strictly, but one slip and it was a huge gain! This is just my opinion, but what about the good ole' fashion way of watching calories and exercise! I just am trying to think for the long haul...are you never going to eat carbs again...such as bread and what not? When I went off Atkins I gained all my weight back and then some! I just think it's really hard to stick with any program that cuts certain food groups out! This is all just my opinion! You only gained 6 pounds though...that is not the end of the world, and your turning it around right now, so just move on from here and don't look back!

Denice- When the weather changes I want home cooking, and I mean hearty home cooking! Have you ever looked at the Light and Tasty web site! It has some great low fat/cal recipies! It is a lot of down home cooking modified! Give it a try! I have to say though I would love some of your cooler weather...it's been in the lower 90's here, and for October that is insane! I love turkey chili, and it really is filling! Hang in there...your so close to goal!

Utah- I would die without Wal-Mart! I can see why your excited to come back home! Have a safe trip!

Onthetee- I am so glad I'm a crappy baker! I would be in big trouble!

Dea- How old are your kids...my husband and I want to take our kids to Disney, but were apprehensive about our two youngest 5 and 4! I was thinking when the youngest turned 6 would be a good time! My husband and I went though on our honeymoon and loved it!

Okay ladies....this is a new week! Let's not focus on the negative and focus on all the positve! We can do this! One day at a time! Hang in there blue! Bob would not put up with this kinda talk ;)

Tina30 10-08-2007 10:57 AM

I must of missed you Cathy...I said the same thing though...no giving up! Have a good meeting!

Azure 10-08-2007 11:52 AM

Thanks for the encouragement, all.

Tina, I'm moving into the OWL phase of the plan. I'm adding in berries, nuts and more veggies gradually from here on out. Honestly, I think that if I transition into maintenance slowly instead of thinking that at the end of Atkins I get to "eat normally" (ie: the typical American diet) again, I'll do just fine. I'm exercising now, I'm also counting my calories, I'm just sticking to the Atkins foods. Honestly, they keep me feeling really satisfied all day.

The only reason I'm not just counting calories is because when I was doing that (calorie-counting, low fat, pretty high carb) for a year, I was a worse binger than I am now... I spent an entire year losing and regaining the same 5 pounds. I just don't react very well to a higher-carb diet. I know that low-carb is how I'm going to live my life, I just need to find a good level. It's really my binging urges that I need to get under control and that's more about my mental state than my diet.

Thanks everyone for the support :) You can count on me for next week!

GirlyGirlSebas 10-08-2007 12:27 PM

Hi Blues!

Yes, Tina....our team seems to be a little bit moody today. No more long faces, team....cheer up! And, no more talking about quitting! Let's all take a minute to remember why we wanted to do this challenge. If you wanted motivation, encouragement and accountability.....you're in the right place! All of us have tough times, but please tell yourself that quitting is not an option! Losing weight and changing our lives is tough! We need each other, especially during those tough times. I'm in a "honeymoon" phase now. I hope it lasts a good long time, but who really knows. If it helps, I will post my weight loss graph on my blog for all of you to see. Since I started this on January 1st, my journey has been like a roller coaster. I will most likely struggle again in the future. When this happens, I hope that I will have all of my Blue team here to help encourage me to keep trying.

Whether you take two steps forward and one step back....or whether you're sprinting to that finish line....Progess is still progress! But, you can only make progress is you don't quit!

aud 10-08-2007 01:11 PM

Tx for the pep talk Blues Sisters . . . wasn't feeling really discouraged but just kind of tired, ya know?

Schedule disruptions are my downfall . . . along with the stress that comes along with the change in routine . . . on the bright side I HAVE continued exercising (UNHEARD OF in my past life!) . . . . but the eating OP is the first thing to go when stressed. Working very hard to change that w/o beating myself up - Tx for putting that particular struggle into far better words than me Eloquent azzie! It really is more to do with emotional/mental state than wol!

Managed to go down a pound despite the yo-yo eating . . . guess it's the exercise?

Taking the next 24 DAYS LEFT IN OCTOBER to really come thru for myself and The Beautiful Blues! Tx for being here All!

PS: Exercise Ball Update: Cheapie-Balls don't work as PC Chairs at my particular weight. Looking for the "good ones" like they have at the gym.

CharityKB 10-08-2007 01:34 PM

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Perhaps I will just post my weight this week, even though it will be a BIG gain. That way, we will get credit for what I lose this week - as I hope it will be a lot! I exercised today, for the first time in weeks! It felt great! I WILL do better this week!

Thanks again!
