I'm right there with you on the craving thing. I don't know how I'll get through the next few hours. Actually, I don't have anything really bad in the house. Just those salad croutons. LOL. I should have gone to health club for those endorphins. Except I always want to stop at McD for an Oreo Cookie McFlurry. My health club actually has a FROZEN YOGURT stand inside. And people walk around with those giant w***** cones. Very annoying.

Rosey...saw your picture on Facebook and you look fabulous! I really admire you for what you've accomplished and living with no sensations in your legs/feet. I noticed the snow and you didn't have much on.

Deelee, your DS sounds wonderful. I'm glad that he made your day. I bet you'll have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Having a nice time with the family this weekend. But.. sometimes it is too much. No me time and I'm obsessive with me/quiet time. But the quiet will come tomorrow. My DD loves turkey on the BBQ so that's what we're making today. Much healthier than the steak last night. Eeks, that is expensive calorie wise. DH and I went for a short ride on our tandem bike. Some twit that was playing with his bike computer, nearly took us out since he wasn't watching where he was going and tried to ride straight into us. That was scary. I could have grabbed his handlebars as he jerked off our lane.

Hi Everyone,

I did 140 min at the gym this morning. I am determined to start losing again.

Rainy day here - I am making dinner & taking it to my DD & SIL. I just pulled a recipe from the internet with scallops and quinoa. If it is good, I will post it.

Have a great day.

Hi Goldens!

I played in the state 8 ball tourney yesterday. I didn't make the finals but I had a good time with friends. I am a little tired today.

Carol, try this link: http://diabetes.webmd.com/tc/dawn-ph...omogyi-effect- is your bs level during the day and then high in the morning? if so, that could be part of the problem. If it is high all the time.... that is something different. My fasting levels are almost always 75 - 85. Let me know if I can help.

Hey there Yoyo Rosie! I know the feeling. Hang in there Remember that once steve gets well he will be off in his fishing cabin this summer and you will get to gork.....

Lynn, it sounds like you had a wonderful time. I am so glad.

DeeLee, it just KILLS me that people think that frozen yogurt is healthy. Hellooooooo it is ice cream! LOL

Change, I hope that you got to go to the conference.

Cyndiem, you will be back in class in no time. Any movement is good and will make you feel better.

Bobbi, I came, I saw your funny post, I snorted, and wrote back to you.

Marie, glad that moron didn't cause you a bike accident. Weekend time with your dgs is the best medicine to help with the last of your recovery.

As for mashed cauliflower.... I can't stand it! Mashed potatoes can be made so they are not terribly high in calories for a small serving. However, roasting cauliflower until it browns a little is so amazing! I can eat a whole plate full. It tastes nutty and sweet. The best news is that the cheap frozen kind roasts just as well as fresh! Yum.

Well, Mary, Gayle, Donna, the Karens, and others..... I will see you on another spot. Have a great Sunday!

Rie

Hello everyone! Gosh I didn't realize it had been so long since I've been here. We had a good day today-- didn't do much but thats ok! After church we met up with the family at KFC! I didn't know but they have a really good buffet now for $6.99!! Never knew they had a buffet and would have never guessed it!
Then went over by my sisters for just a little bit and took a few pictures. I love it that you can take pictures now and never have to worry about wasting film!! Love it!

I have to tell you all---tonight I wasn't sure what I wanted for supper after our chicken dinner at noon. Then I thought of the protein oatmeal pancakes!! Made them in my Magic Bullet and they came out so good and the clean up was breeze!! Another good point for the Magic Bullet-- wouldn't give it up for anything now!!!

Sure hope everyone has had a good weekend and ready for a wonderful week to come!!! Have a great evening!!

Beautiful Sunday everyone!! It's been such a wonderful day! We didn't do anything different than usual but the weather just made it extra special. This was our first really really, really nice day...earlier this spring we had a few nice days but the air was still a little chilly for being out without a jacket unless you were working, so this was the best. I took a light jacket to church and even had it over my shoulders for a little while inside but after that no jacket needed. We had a great service as usual at church, then went to Subway for lunch for our usual shared foot long sandwich, Cheetos and Coke Zero. Came home and I talked quite a while to my dear sister. We are planning on visiting her, her dh, and my db and sil in the fall...some of you may remember we cancelled the trip we planned last year. Then I walked around the yard for a while before settling down on the glider to read. I am currently reading another Gary Devon book for my fiction book. He is the author of Bad Desire, that I told you about. That is a favorite but the other book, Lost, I wasn't as happy with. So I when I found this one on Amazon I wasn't sure I would like it but it got good reviews so I bought it. So far this one is very horrifying and suspenseful. In the beginning you think you know who the bad guy is but then you begin to wonder...so I'm still not sure. They say it has a surprise ending. The author is a very good at building up that sense of dread. You just know something horrible is going to happen soon. Not for everyone but they don't bother me, don't cause fear or nightmares and I am enjoying it so far.

Karen31 - Protein Oatmeal Pancakes? Did I miss something? Where do you get the mix? I used to like MF's pancakes and they were high in protein.

Rie - I agree about the frozen yogurt. If I'm wanting an ice cream cone I buy the real stuff and don't fool myself it's healthy. Just can't have much in the house..one serving, eat it and that's it. I will freeze regular yogurt though and like it pretty well. I buy a low cal kind and it makes me feel kinda like I have ice cream. I also agree about potatoes...potatoes really aren't that high in calories, it's all the junk we put on them. I eat a small serving of potatoes...usually not mashed but sometimes, and just put s/p and a tiny bit if Smart Balance on them and it's not that bad. Those things are not what make me fat nor make my bs high...it's always been my eve snacking. I think I'm getting better though so hopefully I'll make it permanent this time.
Roasted cauliflower sounds good to me. Dh only likes it sauteed which I like too but without the sauce he prefers. I like to just slice and saute in a little butter or olive oil and s/p.

Marie - Glad you and your dh are ok. I never thought about even bikers being distracted with technology.

Rosey - I so admire you too. I was thinking that if I'd just eat like you do, I'm sure I'd lose weight. When I lost weight on the MF diet I got my bs down to normal too. So I know that's what I really really need to do again.

Deelee - Omgosh I love the peanut butter cup McFlurrys! I almost hate to go to McDonalds anymore for fear I'll give in and buy one. And dh is so darn willing to let me!;-) But they have a huge number of calories and carbs in them!! Oh, Deelee so happy about your son saying such a nice thing...doesn't it make us moms feel good when they say nice things to us?!! Or when they call me (the girls or boys) "mama." They've called me mom for so long but when very rarely one of them calls me mama, my heart just melts. I always end up crying a little but don't tell them as I don't want them to stop.

Slm11 - Both my dh and I have trouble with our fasting bs. I know why I do, but he really is pretty disciplined. Metformin is supposed to be a good drug for that too but it hasn't helped us.

Bobbi - Was it something we said? Come back when you have more time.

Change - Continuing to pray and now added the admission to the concert. I'm glad you have this time away to be restored.

Mary, I don't know if you were around when Linda(Meowee) was here. But she posted a recipe for Protein Oatmeal Pancakes and they are WONDERFUL!!

It is: 1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 egg whites
And that is all there is to it!! I use low fat cottage cheese and an egg white substitute. Also like to sprinkle some cinnamon in it. Then I just blended it and then cook just like you do regular pancakes.. YUMMY!!

Good Morning GG's

I worked the weekend, lived to tell about it. I'm off now untill Wed. I was so tired saturday night that I fell asleep on the couch at 9 oclock. You know I have such a hard time falling asleep. Same thing last night. I guess being exhausted is a great sleep enhanser. I thought I would be able to sleep in today, but I was up at 5. Old habits die hard. Nothing much planned for the next 2 days. I'm sure something will come up to keep me busy. Just getting the house back in order will take me 2 days. How does this mess happen in just 2 days?

Marie, Glad you're feeling well enough to go bike riding, but I know it takes a lot to keep you down. Being as strong and healthy as you were before surgery makes a huge difference. Terrible that someone almost caused you to have an accident.

Rie, I'm glad you had a good time playing pool with your friends. I love the roasted cauliflower too. I just buy a bag of frozen cauliflower, broccoli and carrots and roast them. A little OO spray and some seasoning. YUM I love frozen yogurt. But it's a special treat I only have occasionally. And only at the mall, where they have like a kazillion flavors and fruit toppings.

Lynn, 140 min. of exercise? I'm feeling like a slacker with just my 30 min. of cardio and some lifting.

About the diabetes problems. Can I suggest that you just keep really accurate records and take them with you to the Dr.? He can help you figure out what's wrong and how he needs to change your medication. If your medical Dr. can't do it, go to a specialist. diabetes is very complicated and the better controled you are, the less complications.

Think I'll go start my day. Ah, laundry is calling me...

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is my book club discussion. We read The Arrogant Years. I didn’t really like it. It just wasn’t very interesting. A lot of details about a kind of ordinary life. Not sure what the writer was trying to say. I will let you know what everyone else thinks.

Does anyone else watch Chopped on the Food Network? For Mother’s Day, I want my DD & SIL to “play Chopped” with me.

Have a great day,

Lynn

Hi Rie,

Thank you for the link. I will check it later today. I am usually about 95 in the morning and around 100 within 2 hours of eating – as long as I am eating right – lo-carb. I am on Janumet 2 x/day. So far, keeps my bs numbers steady.

Hi Mary,

When you finish the book, let us know if we should read it. So many books are well-written until the end and then disappoint.

Hi Rosey,

I just noticed you are getting close to onederland. We are definitely having a PARTY on that day!

Hi Freda,

Yes, 140 yesterday, but too stiff to do more than 30 this morning!
About getting BS numbers lower – I found my nutritionist to be MUCH better at helping me get my numbers under control than my Endocrinologist. She had me keep REALLY detailed records – testing 6 – 7 times/day along with records of carbs eaten. We figured out exactly what triggered my numbers.

Good Morning...I'm burning sunlight as we (I) speak, no Mary, you're joking right? I only posted that short note to let you all know I'm still among the living but only have time to skim the post. My SIL is having a rummage sale and I need to have everything marked and packed by Thursday of this week. We're scalping our household, things we haven't used in the last year are going out the door. I'm not a pack rat, more of a impulse buyer and my shelves in the basement shows it. We have 1/2 our taxes due in a couple of weeks and I plan on selling enough treasures to pay it. 1/2 is $800.00, don't know what you all pay but we're rural and it runs around $1600.00 a year.
I'm also caught up in this budgeting craze, I looked into the site you gave me Mary but didn't buy the package. DUMB, DUMMER ME had a budgeting program with my money program/checking/savings all along. Just never bothered to check. It's been a fun challenge using up all my pantry items. When I do shop, I faithfully write the price of everything down and only buy the bare necessities in food, only spent $86.30 for the whole month of April so far. DH $209.00 license plates are due the same time as our 1/2 taxes, darn.
So off to work I go, hope you all have a great week. DH said we're expecting cold and rain the two days of our rummage sale, darn again.
One of the bright points of unearthing food in our freezer was running across the can of Strawberry Slim Fast. I have that for lunch 3 or 4 times a week and I'm down to my fighting weight and didn't realize it until this morning when I finally stepped on the scale. I'm at goal
Marie...when I get done with the rummage, I'm going to go thru the freezer and mark everything down like you and hubby did. I need to get organized there also. I'm missing our game but Tiffany keeps me in the loop when she remembers to play. She's not as challenging as you but getting there. I had a 500+ game yesterday.
We are plugging away on the car,DH has all the metal bars removed around the windows and we're sanding them down before painting. (all rusty). He wanted to have them professionally sand blasted and I said NO. I'm mad at him too, yesterday I opened his email from Cabalas and his new pistol is in. YUP, HIS NEW PISTOL. He told me he was selling one to help with taxes. What he didn't tell me was the one he's selling is in exchange for a cheaper one and he'll make about $200.00 dollars in the exchange. Ask me if I blew my top? He still is pouting, I shouldn't have mentioned it because I'm boiling mad just thinking about it.

Have a great day!
