  • Rosey, maybe you and your pups could go to crankypants cabin and enjoy peace without the whining.

Mary, my furbabies are good. They will be sad when I go back to work FT on Tuesday. But they are going very unhappy a week from Monday when DH switches to the day shift. Then they’ll be home alone for over 8 hours. They like DH on swing shift because they’re alone only two hours. Spoiled puppies for sure.

Donna, :rolf: at the image of Sabrino and SamCat’s meeting. SamCat knows he is king and somecat is infringing on his turf. Kai paws hello to her beloved.

Lynn, wonderful news that the face issues aren’t cancerous. You both must be so elated.

Rie, “own one” about the man thing. Too funny!

carol sue on pulling off a heart monitor lead. Naughty naughty.

Gayle, the way you describe your mom and dad makes me think of mine. “Neither are innocent” is so true.

Deelee, great, wonderful news on the marrow results for your DH. That’s what we wanted to hear. Love your slush fund and how you add to it when your DH bugs you.

Debbie, here’s hoping your weigh in goes well. I threw my scale to the curb. Rie probably understands that idea. I’m logging all my food/calories but the scale is off limits for a while. My little mind game is if I log everything, I don’t have to weigh. Mostly because I know if I log, I don’t overeat. And that scale was just p!ssing me off.

Darcy, wow – I am impressed you went and read back so far. PM Karen31 about the FB page. My mom recommended Family Ties to me about a year ago. I’ll look for it since you liked it too. Thanks for posting the pictures of the beautiful children you’re so blessed to have. They are wonderful.

KarenMO, moms are always smarter as us daughters age. That’s just the rule. Can we quote you on the NEVER MOVING AGAIN????

KarenFL, give Dash a hug from my furbabies. They are proud he has you running all over to spoil him just a tad more.

DH is up so off I go for a fun day. We’re going to hike with the doggies and then go for a tandem ride. That will be great. And I’m making lots of progress on my quilt.
    Marie
  • Quick Good Morning, All...

CK - we'll SEE about that "no more moving" thing, in about 3 years when you casually mention that, just for fun, you and Tim have spent the weekend looking at houses, just for fun! HA!

Marie - King SamCat thanks Beloved for her paws hello... he has nodded regally. OMG, these two cats are too funny! Sabrino just wants food and a warm place to stay; SamCat has angst and drama and trauma!!

Million things to do today (well, one or two!)... I'd better get rolling. Everyone, have a lovely day!

Lynn - such good news about your DD! And how are YOU feeling?

Bobbi - even $20 every time DH annoys you unduly would make a tidy sum at the end of the year!!

    Later, lovelies!
  • Nah! I already said one more move to the lake--- and when that happens you are all Welcome to come to the "move"!! LOL!!
  • Hi Golden Chicks-

Marie - thanks. It is wonderful news. Every year when my DH goes through the tests, I realize that, despite all his hugely annoying tendencies, I don’t want anything to happen to him. In a few weeks or days or hours he will start annoying me again. But I’ve never met anyone I would trade him for. As I like to say, sometimes I don’t want him but I’ve never wanted anyone else since I met him. LOL!

Lynn - I’m so glad your daughter got good news.

    Darcy - glad you’re back.

Bobbi - anything you make at rummage sale above tax money - slip in your pocket and stash it.

Okay - I’m going to health club finally. Hope everyone is having a great day.

    TTYL
  • Me again. Waiting for DH to get home to go to HC together. I knew I missed some things.

Darcy - your family is adorable! It is very difficult to diet with kids around. Mine don’t live at home anymore but are here occasionally. I know it’s good to have healthy things for the kids but I found myself eating things that I never thought I would be tempted by - Teddy Grahams, pudding cups. When I had my great nieces over at the last minute, the only thing I had for them to snack on were Goldfish and sugar free pudding cups. We had been to Chucky Cheese already so they were pretty happy.

Karen 31 - You are so right about having the emergency money. I don’t know how far you would get with $5. And our kids would have to imagine that their cell phone was dead. But good luck trying to find a payphone. Probably have to have a credit card to use it. And you’re so right about parents getting smarter as their kids get older. I’m just beginning to seem smarter to my sons in verrry limited areas. They still mostly know everything you know. I get calls about recipes. …Just wait until they have kids…If they don’t think I’m brilliant they’ll at least think I’m a saint…Maybe not, because they’ll be dads so they will probably still be able to take things for granted…

DH is back - going to HC,
  • Great Job Bobbi on the sales !!!! Hope you meet your goal today

I got my meds stole from our USPS this week. 180.00 its going to cost me to get them refilled again.Insurance wont pay for them twice. This has really made me mad. It was a contracted worker cleaning the post office. He stole from 4 peoples PO Boxes. I sure hope he gets nailed~its a federal crime.

well hope everyone's weekend is a good one. Brenda
  • Hi Ladies,

I worked midnights last night. I had forgotten how hard it is to stay up. but it's much easier than day shift and they took me off the schedule Wed. So, no more work days untill next weekend. Busy week though. Kids games every day, play for DGD at school and dance that we will be running them back and forth to. Good times!

Brenda, Isn't the post office going to reinburse you for the medication?

Dee, So glad to hear that DH's tests came back good. I'm with you, if something happened to DH I wouldn't even think about trying to find another one.

Lynn, I know how relieved you are that DD doesn't have to go through that painful treatment again. I think we had rather take them outselves than see them suffer like that. I am starting to use my retin-A again. It's supposed to get rid of some of the sun damage and help prevent another "spot".

Bobbi, Good results with the garage sale. Hope you get enough to take care of the taxes.

Darcy, So good to hear from you again. The kids are adorable. It's always hard to diet with kids around. You have to keep things in the house for them and it's usually stuff you want too. I have to keep things for the GRands. Thank goodness that most of the things they love I don't care for. Gummy worms, reese cups.

Karen, Another move? Even to the lake? Not sure I would be up to it, and you just take it in stride.

Donna, Nothing like having another cat around looking at their food to make another one eat. I threw stake bread out for the birds and Benny went out and ate it! In the house he wouldn't have touched it, he's really picky.

Marie, I think we are sisters. I seldom get on the scale. maybe once a month. I know if i'm eating right and I know how much I'm losing by how my clothes fit. Scales are the devil.

Gayle, men's pain is always worse than our pain is, didn't you know that? I feel like knocking heads when I hear DH complain when I know I am sicker than he is. Like he is the only person in the house sick, and i'm just pretending. Of course he gets sick very seldom so it's not too often. Probably the only reason he is still around.

Rie, You talented thing you! Pool and cards?

    Have a good weekend ladies,

    Freda
  • Hello GGs!! Hope everyone is having a good day. It's very nice here. We went to Costco and picked up some flowers which dh is now planting. Some of these will go in pots around the front door and others will go on one side of our front yard near the driveway. It's a little area along between the fence and driveway that my dh built up with bricks a few years back. We had some others there but most have not come back, so we are planting more. We also have a bamboo plant there that I really like. We transplanted that from the back yard and I like it even better now. So thankful for my dh's gardening!

I'm doing pretty well on my eating these days. I've gone back to what I've felt I was to do for a long time...that is I've gone back to what I call The Lord's Table plan as I first learned it from that online course that I found at Settingcaptivesfree.com. I do still count calories and carbs though due to my diabetes. I have used the same principles for other issues in my life and it always helps me. I just can't let myself get distracted by TV or internet, but esp TV as that's when I really want to eat. Oh, and had a NSV today!! I got 8 samples at Costco today but I made it my lunch...no stopping for pizza too!! Yeah! Wasn't really even tempted! I thought about a mocha but told myself, no I'll make my own later on at home. Much less calories and carbs!

Ladysheets - Wow that's too bad about your meds being stolen! I'm glad he was caught, but too bad you can't get your $$$ back!

Deelee/Karen31 - Did you guys ever tell your parents you realize how smart they were now? My kids are 35(almost)-47 and although I notice some of them agree with me more now on some things, none have ever told me they realize I was right about a lot now. My sons do say things closer to it than the girls. I thought one would understand more when she had a child but he's 12 now and she still hasn't. Guess it just take some longer to grow up. They have called me now and then for advice about their children or when sick, and they really respect their dad's knowledge. I guess they just don't say it in those words.

Men bear great pain when they have to, but in general I don't think they bear it as well as women. I think it is simply one of the differences in the sexes. Just like with strength...men (if healthy) are capable of great physical strength (lifting etc) but women have a different strength...like we can endure being up for hours at night with sick children, sometimes multiple nights in a row whereas for men that is much harder. Their strength is great but spent fast, whereas ours is less for physical exertion but is more enduring. It's just another aspect of men (in general) being the doers and women being the nurturers. Of course this is only a generalization, there's a bit of both in everyone and culture and experience can affect what is natural as well. Just my 2 cents, not that you asked LOL

Bobbi - Glad the sales going well...every bit helps!

You all have a great evening!
  • hey...I know as soon as I post this things will change, but (snort snort), last week my nail tech told me to put gummy bears out for the armadillo. I brought them home and DH howled when i 'plained to him.....we put them out and the first night somebody or something ate 3 or 4. AND we have not had anymore armadillo holes????????? snort snort.....don't tell me to put MOM out now....snort snort....k3
  • Freda- the move to the lake will be after I am gone and only to spread my ashes in the lake!! Not moving anymore before that!!! I just have to "move" all our stuff back into the 5th wheel rv again!! That is bad enough!! LOL!! NO MORE MOVES!! LOL!!!
  • CK - you doth protest too much!!! Talk to you in three years........!!!!!!

KarenFL - love the gummy bears solution! I hope it continues to work. Maybe the pitbull would also go away if you put them out for him?

Freda - you're so right about the jealousy factor... His Highness SamCat wouldn't ever think of eating, eiuuu, ick, dry food mixed with his wet food.... unless, of course, His Lowness Sabrino is at the door, salivating at the thought! Too funny....

    Sleep well, goldens!
  • Well, we sold our moving boxes today! Well, OK we did keep a few but sold the majority!!
  • Morning girls,

I'm jumping back in after a long absence. I did 20 minutes of yoga this morning and it felt good. I have been ambivalent about my weight for a long time, I want to really jump start things now!
  • Hello Everyone...

Marie i keep track of everything i eat, its what works for me.

Cindy welcome back. Do you think a mature 270ish lb out of shape lady could do yoga?

    Have an awesome day Everyone!

MY ticker is going down! YEAH
  • Deelee, you made me laugh with the $5 nowadays getting nowhere in extracting a young person from a bad date. The best was if you found a payphone, you’d need a credit card. but knowing it was true. Also the advice to Bobbi to stash any extra money away from her DH was excellent.

Brenda, I had my meds stolen once from the USPS in the main office. I believe my insurer had them sent insured or something as they were replaced at no cost to me and the post office charged the person they knew stole them (since he’d taken my mail carrier’s electronic scanner). It was messy but resolved. The USPS is libel, not you. I’d fight them big time on that since they hired that contract worker. My experience is the reason I don’t do mail order prescriptions since. I’d rather pick the med up myself from a pharmacy.

Freda, Retin-A can help prevent spots? I didn’t know that. I’m in the newbie status for not weighing in. Because the scale was screwing with my brain, I had to stop. So I made my deal that if I logged my food daily, I didn’t have to weigh (because I know the cause and effect of calories). I tried your method of going by the fit of my clothes and ended up with a 20 pound gain because my clothes still fit although not as loosely. I think that is one drawback to jeans with 2% spandex. Now I’m going for just logging as a monitor and weighing once a month.

Mary, great job at Costco. Their samples are enough to make a meal. Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovich’s series) had her and Lulu go to Costco when they were broke and hungry to have “Senior Buffet”. I was listening to the audiobook while floating in the pool a couple summers ago and nearly fell off the raft when I laughed so hard. Now when I go to Costco, I can’t think of it as anything but senior buffet.

KarenFL, gummy bears and armadillos? You think they just plug up those long snouts, like too much TP in the toilet???

KarenMO, we believe you that you will never move again… and why did you keep a few of the moving boxes?

Donna, Kody would never eat bread crust except Blizzie’s favorite food is bread and she begs for bread whenever I take a loaf out to slice. So he has to have some too.

Welcome Back, Cindy! It’s easy to get ambivalent about eating when it’s just so tasty to eat.

Debbie, yes you can do yoga. Start with the beginner moves. I find it boring (the ADD in me) but it sure does feel good to stretch all the muscles and joints. I have a beginner DVD that I use. Actually I first started with a Leslie Sansone Walk away the pounds DVD workout that had an easy mile walk (in place) and then a very beginner yoga workout. I googled it (too lazy to find it in the dusty DVDs) and here’s a link. Very easy and a good way to start some exercising. And a double for the scale moving downwards.

Fun day yesterday. DH and I went to town to shop and we went out for breakfast. Then we went for a tandem ride back to the gas station 4 miles from our house because the attendant didn't put the cap back on my Jeep. (Yay Oregon for not having self serve). As we're riding, DH sees our gas cap along the road about a 1/2 mile from the station. He has such eagle eyes. So at least we don't have to replace that. After the ride, we hiked with the doggies. Then DH went to help our neighbor move his old desk from his house because he bought a new one. DH brings the new desk home because he knew I'd asked about buying it. It's a solid oak roll top desk. It's amazingly beautiful. The neighbors gave it to us (we need to fix the rolling part but I helped my brother build two of them when we were in high school and I know how it works and told DH. He nodded and said he could do what I said to fix it). Anyway, this desk is probably about two grand and they gave it to us! So we took them out to dinner. I did not follow my diet in any way yesterday. I went over my cals by 800 and that did include 1.5 daiquiris. Since I rarely drink (I like making liqueurs but I don't drink them), I was totally buzzed. It was a great time. And I don't think it will be another 18 months until I have another strawberry daiquiri. Oh that was YUMMY!!!!!
