LOL I was seriously considering signing up for the exercise program for my back, then I came home and did a search and found exercises I can do for it so I'm going to try them first. The program at the gym is $99...and it's only a print out of exercises, and if I want they will show me how to do them and I can ask advice etc but basically I'm on my own.

Slmn11 - I think I know the squash you are talking about...I eat it fairly frequently in a mixed veggie side dish at restaurants. It's ok. I think it's maybe called just yellow squash? Bobbie or someone else will probably know more than me about squashes though. I'm curious do you have numbness in the area surrounding your incision? I notice I have that where my gall bladder was removed and was told it was from the nerves in the area being cut. Of course I also have surface numbness on the front top of my thighs ...have had it ever since my third pregnancy (I had 5). Apparently caused by pinching of a nerve I guess. The doctor said it would go away but it hasn't. I say it is "surface" numbness because I know if someone stuck me with a pin there it would hurt, but the surface feels numb and wierd. If it itches there it's very hard to relieve it by scratching...that kind of thing. I think our Kmart has gone out of business but perhaps there is still one in Portland. Don't get over there often but if I see one I'll stop and check on them. Actually probably have plenty jeans for now. Did I tell you I decided to keep the larger Levis from Kohls? I tried them on with a belt and decided they are ok. Not a perfect fit, still a little big in thighs but not bad I guess and they should tighten up a bit in the dryer. I like the slightly higher rise and the straight cut. Levis has always worked better for me than most jeans. So settling again to some extent but I have 3 new jeans and hopefully they look ok. Now I need to work on my casual tops! :-)

Hi all...Think I'll start here while the chicken for dinner is baking. Quiet dreary day down here. We need rain so badly and hoping even for a shower. Rainy season doesn't start for 6 weeks.

Bobbi....why do you think I play bridge so much...24/7 is a killer. I am used to start/finishing projects alone and have everything cleaned up. With Dh help it takes twice as long. I won't on into the story where he kept putting my ladder away...grrrrrr just thinking....

Donna2....How is your Ds doing? You are all in my prayers.

Carol Sue....Some how we should get velcro incisions. Then no lumps. My chest scar sometimes looks like my clevage! Young yellow squash...oh ladies is so good...old fashion way is to stew it with onions and even zucchini tomatoes etc. But my best way is to cut it long ways(slight angle for pretty) Coat with dash of Olive oil, splash of lemon and dash of lemon pepper. Grill or broil few minutes....I love acorn squash and butternut squash baked or roasted, Zucchini makes wonderful parmesan.

Debbie....Is Daryl's still there in Maneo? Loved loved their marniated grilled Tuna.....Dh and I would escape to the OBX so they couldn't reach me with a pager from the Eastern Shore. Considered retiring there but was really almost a lateral move. 100 air miles..

Donna, no you weren’t being snarky. I just didn’t remember the recipe and didn’t want to search for it since I’d have no idea where to look.

KarenFL, yep my trackpad is very clean but not my house. that your chest scar looks like cleavage.

Freda, you made me upset (not at you) because your lilacs are blooming. I’m definitely a bit south of Michigan and our bushes now have buds for the leaves. That is not fair. I do admit I complained to DH and a co-worker that you have blooms.

Rosey, that is one slim chick holding that FAT CAT. Love the picture.

Mary, the beauty of NYDJs are they are forgiving for about a 10 pound weight fluctuation.

Bobbi, I tried that cauliflower mashed “potatoes” and it tasted like cauliflower. Yucky, yucky. Never again. The baked “fried” chicken is wonderful.

Debbie, lighter, brighter and more energy is the result of endorphins. You’re feeling good about yourself and feeling good. It’s addicting.

Carol Sue, sounds like it is time for you to add a walking routine into your day for exercise.

Life is good. Working in my office is not as productive as working from home but my not bad. Then again, my phone isn’t ringing because people think I haven’t returned. I’m not giving them clue. I’m so happy being back on the elliptical and going for the doggie walk. It’s amazing how much better I feel. And having the cookie monster eradicated has made staying on my eating plan so much easier. I just ordered a bunch of new Wacoal bras from herroom dot com. I definitely spent a bunch but my old wacoals are 2.5 years old. And they had some pretty colors for full size and that doesn’t happen often. I even paid for overnight shipping so I’ll get them on Friday. I couldn’t take another day of the girls hanging to my waist.

Marie - eiuuuuuuuu, I agree about cauliflower mashed potatoes! EIUUUUUUUU and yuck! Cauliflower is wonderful; mashed potatoes are wonderful; cauliflower mashed potatoes are NOT wonderful!

Sounds like you're doing well... glad you're doing some exercise, too. No more bleeding? Pace yourself! Pats to every furry pet in your house!

Everyone, later. I'm not in the mood for personals, because I'd have to go back about 1,947 posts since the last time I posted yesterday. Chatty old broads.......

Later, lovelies!

Hello Gals. Just a quick run through before I finish making dinner (lunch) for DH and me. I've made one of the tastiest and comforting rice dishes I've ever eaten. It's a new recipe and of course, I can't remember where I found it as I'm forever cutting and pasting recipes to my files. It can be used as a side or main, with or without the cheese and make sure you don't add all the salt and pepper without tasting first. And any long grain rice will work as well as the basmati. SO GOOD!

Chickpeas and Rice
1 cup Basmati rice ( uncooked)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaves
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
⅓ cup parsley
2 tablespoons sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
1 teaspoon pepper or to taste
⅓ cup Parmesan cheese

Cook water, rice, thyme, and bay leaf and set aside.

Heat olive oil and half of the butter in a skillet and then add chickpeas.

When chickpeas start to lightly brown (about 5 minutes) add parsley and the sun-dried tomatoes and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Remove from heat and mix rice and chickpeas together until rice is a golden colour.

Mix in remaining butter (cubed) and Parmesan cheese.

Remove bay leaf before serving.

I've posted this in the recipe section as well.

Got my emergency Aspirin bought and hoping no one will have to use them for anything more serious than a headache.

I'll try and get back later on to chat. Have a wonderful day, ladies.

Donna2 - how's your boy?

Gotta get rolling. I have to stop by GM's on the way to work to deliver some groceries. Later...

Hi all,

Just a brief note to tell you that we're alive. This is one of the most difficult times in my life. More information is surfacing, and my heart is broken into a million pieces. I will do whatever it takes to help my son, and to make sure he heals from this. :*****(

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Please don't stop now.

I remember a month or so ago, I had been stuck at 256 for 5 weeks. I am now at 243 this AM, though an emotional crisis is not the way I would suggest losing weight. 70 pounds lost now. Simply unbelievable.

Please hold your children tight. They are so very precious.

Hi y'all Thank you very much for your warm welcome,,

I am very impressed with how much y'all support each other and just want to say I think that's awesome!!

I haven't posted 'cause I have been pouting, I hurt my right knee a few weeks ago and finally went to the Dr's, sent me for x-rays, and starting on physical therapy on the 26th not able to work out until after the PT evaluates me, and I am just so over it already!!

I was at a good place spinning, zumba, swimming and karate although I wasn't dropping the weight I was losing inches and clothes where very loose.. Then hurt my knee, tried "working thru it" yeah right,, driving hurts.. So now I'm in a pity party,, I'll get over it as soon as I can do anything again!!

Ok enough complaining,, Sunday is my 33rd wedding anniversary!! I am so excited..

I am taking a 4 day weekend wooo hooo!!! I hope y'all are doing great and thanks again for the warm welcome....

Happy birthday, Zoe!! Hope you are having a good day!

It's cloudy here but no rain. We stayed home because the tree guys are here chopping down another tree. It is another one that was planted too close to the house and makes a mess on the roof besides the concern about the roots growing into the house foundation. So far it's the roof that is the issue though. They are also trimming another large evergreen we have in the back on the side of the house. I hope that now we are done with trimming and chopping trees for a long while!

Change - I am continuing to pray for you and your son. Know this must be very difficult.

Marie - Never heard of those bras. will check them out. I love how we learn from each other on this forum! I definitely plan to check out NYDJ sooner or later. Feel I've got enough jeans right now but do wish I'd remembered them when shopping. They are a little expensive for me but I could do it if they fit really really well.

Karen3 - I'll have to try the yellow squash on the grill as you described. We do that with zucchini and really like it. BTW, I got the book...thank you again. I forgot to mention it yesterday.

Bye for now, ladies...

ETA: After posting it wasn't raining, I just went out side and realized it's pouring! Not surprisingly as it usually is here but I just couldn't tell from my office window.
