Happy Birthday Zoe!
Brenda...the first time I made the whipped cauliflower spud substitute I didn't feed to hubby because I didn't think he would like them. But I raved so much about them so he tried it and liked them too. It all depends on the seasonings you put in them, you have to have a good recipe. Those of you that didn't like them could try putting them together with real mashed potatoes to lighten the calories. I did that once or twice and liked them as well.
My SIL is having a rummage sale next week-end and I have to spend the rest of the week digging out and pricing treasures to sell.
Have a good one...

The biopsy on my back was b9.

The biopsy on my nose showed basal cell carcinoma, or skin cancer. This type of cancer is most common and least aggressive. It does not effect anything but the skin and is easy to remove.

Sadly the Doc did not get enough and i'm scheduled for surgery May 2nd at 9:10 am. It should be a simply cut, then closed with stitches. I truly felt no pain with the last removal of this from my nose, probably the needle going in to give the meds was the worst.

Im feeling positive about this, and hopeful to be rid of the skin cancer. debbie

hello GG's A pretty good day here. My 2 gsons are here, and i enjoy them so much. We have done spelling words, so all the homework is done.

Karen
Yes Darrels is still there. My favorite place to eat is right on the water front, and its Poor Richards. Its just a hold in the wall deli, but its awesome.

Marie YES thats just how i was feeling, lighter, brighter, and i had more energy. I did not feel that today, but i did not get to the gym, it was rainy and i guess after i got the news from the dr, i sat about 2 hours. I know im ok, its just that fricking word that begins with 'C'

ZOE
happy birthday

Hi Everyone,

NYC was GREAT. Some activities - the play War Horse (AMAZING!), high tea at the Plaza Hotel for my birthday present, cruise around Manhattan, walking on the highline, the MOMA and the Guggenheim, lunch in Bryant Park (think Project Runway), cheesecake at Roxy's, strolling on the new pedestrian mall at Times Square.

I am exhausted and afraid to get on the scale tomorrow. Will be glad to get back to the gym.

I will read everyone's posts tomorrow & hopefully, get to personals.

Donna, no more bleeding (at 2 weeks no bleeding now) so all is good. I hate cauliflower but I did try it because when I tried Adkins, the “experts” said it tasted just like mashed potatoes. Not. Even. Close!

Rosey, I’m glad your DH is done with the surgery. Surgery stinks and I can attest to that. As many of us here can. A sock loom??? That sounds fun. Let us (me) know how you like it.

Donna2, you probably will learn more and more until all of the details are out. Every detail will break your heart but you will get stronger. Your son will get stronger and will understand his mother loves him so much. I am so sorry for your pain and you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Losing weight that way is just so wrong.

Brenda, nope. Mashed cauliflower is yucky. Adkins was a horrible experiment I tried. I rarely eat meat (although I did have a 93/7 lean burger today that was wonderful and it had been about 4 months since I’d had one). I don’t like eggs and I’m allergic to soy, peanuts, legumes and peanuts (butter). So I was starving on the 6 week experiment and I still couldn’t choke them down.

Cyndiem, maybe you can do some upper body aerobics. When I was in PT (oh yeah – for my knee) they had this bicycle thing for the arms. Like a bicycle you use your arms on handles (pedals). Quite a good workout. If you found a gym that had one for a temp/daily membership, it might make you feel better.

Mary, Macy’s has a great selection of Wacoal bras. I got my overnight tracking number and tomorrow my girls should stop sagging to my knees. This is my sister’s and my favorite little ditty:
Do your b o o b s hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie ‘em in a knot?
Can you tie ‘em in a bow?
Can you throw ‘em over your shoulder
Like a continental soldier?
Do your b o o b s hang low?

Mine were hanging mighty low with the old underwire. Today they’re better with my non-underwire and tomorrow after Mr. UPS brings me my package, I won’t be singing the goofed up kids ditty.

Bobbi, nope, I won’t ever try cauliflower again. I’d rather never have mashed potatoes again in my life. Oh yeah, I pretty much never make them.

Debbie, YAY!!! On the decent diagnosis in light of what it could have been.

Lynn, I’m thrilled you had a good b-day trip. Sounds like a blast.

Not much new in my world. I did want to let all my fellow Furbaby Mothers know what I learned today. Sasha’s human prescription is almost out and we need to get more. It didn’t even last 4 weeks. At $59.99 a pop, I told DH I’d call Costco (think other side of the mountain…) to find out the cost. I chatted with a nice pharmacy tech who told me their price is (drum roll) $7.82. Yes, you read that right and I questioned it. She said, “yeah, that’s common”. So Miss Sasha will be getting that drug from Costco. So I asked about my other doggies’ meds. For those of you paying tons for Rimadyl, the cost for Rimadyl at Costco (they’re newly carrying pet meds) for the 6 months supply is $199. That is $25 cheaper than Petsmeds dot com and $125 cheaper than my vet. Blizzie will be getting her rimadyl from Costco. Sasha’s prednisone eye drops were $29.99 at the vet and Costco is $22. I didn’t ask about the Adequan and Sasha’s blood pressure med, but I will on Saturday when we bring our new prescriptions to them. So… if your furbaby is on meds, call Costco. They also sell Heartguard and I’ll be buying that from them too. I didn’t ask the price but since petsmed dot com was so much cheaper than the vet, I figure Costco will be as well. I’ll let you all know the price of that when I go on Saturday. The cost of my furbabies just went down today. How often does that happen????

Good Morning GG's

Worked yesterday, off today and then work the weekend. Not sure yet what's up for today. Rest maybe. Some days of doing NOHING is pretty good. Hapy a birthday party for our PA yesterday. Lots of food and cake. I didn't get into the break room untill later and a friend had taken some of the green salad out for me "because I knew you wouldn't eat it if we had already put the cheese and dressing on it". Pretty nice. And a real help. And I didn't eat the cake, although it was a really GREAT cake. Most I can say no to and not mind, but these cakes are the best.

Change, When our kids hurt, we hurt. Praying for you both.

Cyndi, Hope you have fun on your anniversay. I broke my foot last year and it made me mad too. Like you, I had a little pity party for 1, and then I started doing hand weights. It worked well. Don't let anything distract you.

Rosie, Happy to hear that DH is home and doing better. Everyone makes the ramien noodle salad a little different. I brown the nooles in the oven before I add them to the salad, my DIL cooks them and then adds them. I do make the dressing with a lot less oil and use splenda.

Isabella, I added this recipe to my collecting. I'm going to try it soon. I'm not vegiterian but I do not eat a lot of meat and i'm always looking for meatless meals.

Marie, Your lilacs will be blooming soon! The only bad thing about lilacs is they don't last long enough. Have you seen the little lilac bushes that bloom all year?

Donna, I agree, Love cauliflower and love love mashed potatoes. Just not together.

Debbie, Horrible C word. Even though you know it can be taken care of pretty easily, just hearing the word knock the wind out of you.

Lynn, Sounds like you had a great time.

Hope everyone had a great day,

Freda

I did some exercises yesterday, watched my eating, drank lots of water, and I'm down 2 lbs from yesterday AM. I know it's water, but you have to start with losing the water. Right? I did 15 minutes walking on the treadmill and 5 minutes on the elliptical. I could have done more but I wanted to see if I would get any pain, and I was pretty much pain free afterwards and this morning. I wore my ankle brace on my left foot and my knee brace on my right knee. LOL I will add a few minutes each day until I'm back to my 60 minutes daily.

Marie - I love cauliflower and I would probably love cauliflower mashed potatoes but DH is such a potato lover that he wouldn't eat it so I don't make it. I could probably take out my serving of mashed potatoes and add the cauliflower to it. No need to deprive myself because of his dislikes, although I do it all the time. Or, are we talking about mashed cauliflower (no potatoes in it?) I could easily do that, but would have to make potatoes also, for DH.

I ordered a red epilator and it came about a week ago. It sat on the dining room table and I glanced at it each day as I walked by. I finally got up the nerve to try it out. It hurt, but not nearly as bad as the others I've had. I did one leg. Maybe I will do the other leg today. It hurt more in some areas than others. Afterwards I read the instruction booklet and it said do not use it if you have diabetes or psoriasis, among others. I have both of these. I think the warning about diabetes is because of nerve damage because when I used it on my right thigh I felt numbness. (See my comment to Maryea below.) My psoriasis is under control to a point so I don't have much on my legs.

My lilacs aren't blooming yet here in PA. They start around Mother's Day. That's when I have to stay in the house until they're done because I'm highly allergic!

Karen3 - The velcro incisions would be good! LOL Then when they had to open me up the second time they could have just pulled! My chest scar also looks like cleavage if I don't stand with my shoulders back. It is less noticeable when I have a bit of a tan. Right after surgery I bought a bunch of high tank tops to wear under my v-neck shirts, but I got tired of that and now I let it show. Don't like it, don't look. A woman at the lab where I get blood work done has an extremely dark and prominent chest scar. She's rather young, too, but she lets it show.

Maryea - I didn't have any numbness with my abdominal surgery, but when I had my heart surgery I had a lot of numbness in my right thigh. It felt like a tree stump. It was very annoying. The day after surgery it hurt like the devil, but the next day the pain was gone but not the numbness. The numbness is gone now and I'm not really sure how long it lasted but it was a year or so.

Debbie - Good luck with your surgery. Most are successful and yours should be, too.

Marie - I remember the titty diddy. I sang it to my DIL and she said "We say ears." At Elaine Powers we had a chant when we did boob exercises.

I must, I must, I must increase my bust
The bigger the better
The tighter the sweater
The guys are depending on us!

Picture all of us standing in a circle pushing our elbows back away from our chests! LOL

Naturally, that was back when they were young and perky! LOL

Happy Birthday Zoe!

Karen2 - You and your little one are still in my prayers. Hopefully he will come through this well. He knows he didn't do anything wrong. I hope the other child gets the help he needs. I'm fearful that he will grow up to be an adult offender. I think that years back a lot of this went on unreported and the offenders are now out there.

Time for the nurse! Have a good day, everyone!

Thanks for putting a smile on my face with the two ditties that rhyme with my titties. I'm going to throw mine over my shoulder and start digging out rummage sale stuff.
