Good Morning! First off--Rosey, I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a link that really seemed to help me when I lost both my Bubba and Shiloh.
http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
You are in my thoughts.

Well, I lost 2.4 pounds this week. So I now have .6 pounds left to go and I will be back and my ticker weight! WHEW!! I was surprised that I had lost that much since it seems like I haven't got back into the workout like I should. But I guess I was more active and ate better than when we were on the trip. In fact out of 13 days--I sat in the truck a total of 6 days traveling!!

Okannie, Freda---I still haven't opened up my Zumba---I plan on it soon though once I get back into the swing of things completely.

Pamb, Welcome!

I think there were some other new people too but my mind isn't awake yet!

Congrats to all of you who have lost this past week! Zoe, you have done wonderful!! I have such a hard time passing up goodies!!

Need to go and get my workout in before the day gets away from me!
Later......

Rosie...I'm feeling sad with you, we lost DD's Golden Retriever (Carter) a few months back. He was also gentle, sweet and so loyal. We can always carry their memory in our hearts. I can still cry thinking of him.

Rosey, I'm so sorry about your pup! Was this Daisy?? I know we've all lost animals that we love, love, love... so all the sentiments are real. I'm so sorry! KarenMO, thanks for sending the link to Rosey; that's such a good poem for times like this!

Still feeling good... all is coming along nicely!

Everyone, have a lovely...... Later!

Donna...a question for you about the cream. I clicked on the link, read all about it. $25.00 a tube is spendy, does it stink? I have a couple of tube laying around for sore muscles and they all have a horrid smell to them. Please tell me it's oderless.

I've posted thoughts about eating slowly before, this article was in my Dr. Oz or Dr. Weil site today. Can't remember which one. It's something I always have to remind myself about. I eat fast, fast, fast. Sometimes my hubby says, Bobbi......SLOW DOWN!

Quote:
Curb Overeating with This Mealtime Trick
To avoid eating too much -- and earning a bigger pants size -- try this mealtime trick: Spend at least 30 minutes enjoying your food.
Research shows that scarfing down food as if every meal were your last actually reduces levels of key appetite-controlling hormones -- the ones that normally keep you feeling full and satisfied and tell you when to put down that fork.
Slower = Slimmer
In the study, lucky volunteers were served about 2 1/2 scoops of ice cream -- twice. On one day, they wolfed down the treat in 5 minutes flat. Then, on another day, they lingered over the bowl for a full half hour. Blood tests showed that slow eating increased levels of two appetite-lowering chemicals (peptide YY and glucagon-like peptide-1) by 25 to 30 percent.
Happy Cinco de Mayo day, crabby Maxine has a thought on it. "Cinco de Mayo holds special meaning for me...ever since my chimichangas went south of the border." heehee, she has hanging boobs too!

Maureen? Is your sister heavy? Sounds to me like she couldn't help but notice, but might've been a little jealous? Or perhaps too insecure about herself to applaud your accomplishment? Ahhhh...family.

Nope, my Sis at about 5'5" weighs about 100 pounds and has never been fat a day in her life. she is a size 0, wears boys size 25 Levi button fly jeans, and was wearing them again, within 3 weeks of having a baby-both times. I was just a wee bit...deflated...I guess. Enough of the poor me!

I just cruised quickly throught the posts, because I'm short on time.
Rosey I am so sorry for your loss, she is running fast and pain free, young again forver, and you will meet again at the Bridge, never doubt it. Love endures for eternity

Hey GGs,
Rosey, I want to add my condolences to the others, on the loss of your beloved 4-legged Rosey. I’m so sad for you. Congrats on losing 2 more pounds.

Well, I should have stayed here & chatted last night. My hair looked better gray! Now it’s almost black with just a hint of red. Way too dark, but I should have known to pick a lighter shade! Hopefully it will tone down in a few weeks. Until then, I sorta feel like Morticia from the Addams Family (my skin’s pretty pale, & the stark color emphasizes it!). And, that Clairol foam was very difficult to apply - I don’t recommend it, though it did cover all the gray.

Just found out last week that SO’s daughter is coming home from college this weekend, & will be here all summer. She had planned on staying on campus, but the job she thought she had, didn’t work out. To say I’m less than thrilled would be an understatement.

I don’t think I told you this before, but in Dec. 2004, we “inherited” my SO’s daughter & stepson, when his ex-wife was killed in a car wreck. The daughter was 14 at the time, & his stepson 16. The stepson got a job & moved out when he was 19. He got married last year, & he & his wife are renting one of our 2 rental mobile homes next door. He’s never been a problem - I’ve always thought that he felt like he had to “earn” his dad’s love, since my SO’s not his biological father (but he was only 18 months old when SO married his mother, & SO thinks of him as his son, & has been the only dad he’s ever known). The daughter is a different story! Actually, she’s not too bad, & is usually quite pleasant to be around - as long as she gets everything her way! And, she somehow manages to cause problems between me & her father. It’s gotten better as she’s gotten older, but still….. things are a lot easier on me when she’s not around. I’m determined that THIS time things will be different, but she can usually manage to wear me down. I just hate conflict, but she (& her dad) seem to enjoy it. We’ll see?!

KarenMO, congrats to you on losing 2.4 more pounds! Yay! You’re really hangin’ in there. And Bobbi, about eating slow, I taught myself to eat really slow when I was 14 yrs. old, & went on my first diet. I can easily make a small meal last 30 minutes. But, I think I was still eating pretty slow when I gained up to 250 lbs.! I guess it doesn’t always help, but I do think it’s a good idea.

Maureen, I'm so sorry you have such a tiny sister, & that she didn't notice your weight loss. My sister was always a "normal" size, & I was always the "fat" one, & that was rough. Now my sister has to struggle to stay a "normal" size, & doesn't always win that struggle. Am I happy about that??!! I hope not, but..... maybe, a little??? Shame on me!!! This sister thing is complicated.

Well, I really need to start cooking supper now, so I better go. Hi! & Bye! to Everyone.

Bobbi, the cream has very little odor, which is one of its selling features (in my humble opinion!). Yes, it's pricey... I bought the 4-pack, because it was less expensive, and I've been giving it away. Now I need to replenish my own supply! Oh, I do hope it works for those of you who try it!

Maureen, people are weird about compliments, etc. I'd lost 35# and had never heard even one word from Granny/Mom (at 62, I'm STILL looking for approval from her... think I'd learn, yes?); I finally said something, and she said "I noticed, but it wasn't worth bothering about." I have to remember (often) that she's 88 and has totally lost her filter. Anything that comes into her head falls out of her mouth! Maybe your sister was trying to be... what? nice?

Onward and upward, Grownup GGs!

Hi All - Just checking in........Oh, Rosey I'm so sorry that your Rosey has left you. But like Maureen said, she is running fast, young & pain free. And yes, she will be at the Rainbow Bridge to meet you. I really believe that. And Maureen, about your sister........she did notice & didn't know if she should say anything or not........'cause I asked her. Yeah,........I know. It's cloudy, rainy off & on today. Yesterday was beautiful. Got the backyard flower bed cleaned up. Happy dance for those who have become "less of". Catch you all in a few days.

NCNancy ~ hope your step daughter doesn’t cause too much stress for you

Welcome Pam ~ glad you have joined us

Freda ~ hope your day went well. We had the state inspectors there the last couple days ~ yuck. I will write on the boxes ~ I am only part way through with the project.

Bobbi ~ I liked your idea of taking pictures of the shoes to put on the outside of the box. I labeled each box, but a picture would help make it even easier

Maureen ~ sorry for the disappointment of your sister not mentioning your weight loss ~ you are doing awesome

Karen FL ~ hope you find your box of the LLBean flanel gowns

Zoe ~ awesome ~ resisting those cookies. Sometimes I do ok, other times need a big sprinkle of that will power dust.

Mary ~ you are always so busy ~ the gym, the cleaning ~ wow ~ you are doing great. Enjoy your mother’s day out

Lyn ~ I’m like you ~ helping my kids ~ my DH and I don’t always see eye to eye about it either ~ you’re not alone

Lynn ~ your scrapping morning sounds really nice ~ the cozy room, fireplace and a friend to spend it with

Karen MO ~ I have done the same thing ~ wondering why no one was posting then ~ DUH ~ realized that it was a new month and I hadn’t posted yet to get the e-mails ~ you’re not alone. Congrats on the 2.4 pound loss

Nona ~ have they been able to start on your deck yet?

Hello OKAnnie and Bunti ~ and anyone I missed.

Guess I will get this posted. Hope you all are having a nice evening.

Take care

Hello everyone! Rosey, so sorry to here about your dog...she's beautiful and I know you will miss her. Glad you lost weight again but hope it wasn't the stress...that's not a good way.

Maureen - My oldest dd was the same way...I lost 33+ lbs and dropped from a 16 to a 12...we only see each other once a year and she still didn't notice! The other kids noticed after I lost about 30 lbs...not before. They saw me more often at the time. Later when my oldest dd found out about it, I told her she didn't notice and she said, well, I thought something was different but I'm just too busy to think about things like that! Also when my son and dil finally mentioned it and I was thrilled, my dil said I wouldn't say anything (my son was the one who mentioned it) thinking that the person might be offended. I said I don't know anyone who is heavy that is offended by that, I'm sure not...I look forward to finally hearing it!

Freda - You are sure doing great with the weightloss! Congrats!

ETA: Forgot to tell you what happened today. I won an exercise mat (at least I think that's what it is)! And in the process of getting the paperwork together, I noticed my drivers license was expired!! It expired on my b-day Feb 15 ! I didn't drive from Dec 14-March 14 as we were RVing and dh always drives, but I have since then. Sure glad I was never stopped for any reason! So today we had to add a trip to DMV today...they made me take off my glasses and my picture looks so strange to me...also if you don't want a reminder of how the years are changing you, don't compare your last picture with the current one...oh my gosh I look so much older! We also went to the dentist for checkups and cleaning...no problems, thankfully...I didn't want another big bill to pay!

A Quick Mornin' to all...........We're on our way out the door with much to do since it's actually going to be in the 70's today. Yeah.......I typed that right, 70's.
We signed up to church duty this month and Friday morning is when we clean. Long story, but we laid off the custodian and everyone pitches in to clean. I choose the large kitchen and the lounge kitchen. DH comes with to help so it doesn't take long, he washes the floors.
I lave lots of flowers to plant, going to move our Mexican thingie, can't remember the name of it but it looks like a pot bellies stove. You put wood in it for camp fires, I'm making our shade garden real cozy with the Mexican thingie placed among the lounge furniture. When everything is blooming and ready for the garden tour, I'll show you pictures.
Donna...thanks for the information about the cream, I'll order some.
Last night I timed myself, wanted to spread out eating supper to 30 minutes. Put my fork down between bites, HA! I went so slow, DH was laughing at me. Took 15 minutes. I had two fat free Hebrew National hot dogs, (YUM-O 40 calories each) on low cal buns and macaroni salad.
Gotta run, hope you all have nice weather today too.
P.S. Maureen, where do you live in British Columbia?
