First name (if you want to tell): Aurelie

Geographical location: North Carolina

Age: 27

Marital Status: Newlywed! (6/5/08)

Children/Ages: None.

Occupation: Student & I wait tables.

Pets: one pound-mutt dog, one tabby formerly-stray cat.

Hobbies/Interests: reading, cooking, growing herbs (although I am not very good at it yet), riding my bicycle (also not good at it yet), surfing the Internet

Height: 5'3"

Eye/Hair Color: I have brown eyes, and my hair is naturally a mousy medium brown, but I am always dying it (from any color from blonde to copper to blue, etc.).

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: I am just starting, sooo probably last week (10/13) when I decided to do a detox diet.

Starting Weight: 129

Present Weight: 126.6

Goal Weight: 105-113 (my normal comfort range)

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: What can I say -- I hate exercise, and I love to cook and eat! I get addicted to dairy products; cheese and ice cream are my favorite foods, and it's difficult for me to eat the correct portions of them. Also, I really love very salty things, and the water weight that accompanies eating them makes it hard to gauge what my real weight is sometimes. Also, I love to eat while I study, and these days, I am studying all the time!

Following any specific plan: Right now I am on a "detox diet" that I found online, because I just came off anti-depressants and birth control pills and figured the diet would be good both to flush my system, and to keep my "danger foods" that trigger binges completely off limits. Also, I am a pescatarian and mildly gluten intolerant, so my diet will always be free of meat other than seafood, and I try to be free of gluten-containing products. Basically, for the first few weeks it's vegan, with fruits, veggies, gluten-free grains, unsalted nuts and seeds, no alcohol, no fried foods, and no refined sugars (including items containing refined sugars, even honey) or artificial sweeteners. I get to add in seafood and limited dairy after the first few weeks.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I played around with calorie restriction and then low-carb in the past, for only a little while, when I first started to gain weight two years ago. The calorie restriction failed because I was HUNGRY at 1000 calories per day, and the low-carb thing didn't work because it's really difficult to find an interesting variety of foods to eat on a low-carb when when you don't eat meat. Eggs for breakfast and fish and veggies every night for a month got old real fast. So, this time I have a larger variety of foods to choose from, which will hopefully make it easier on me.

First name (if you want to tell): Z

Geographical location: Ohio

Age: 24

Marital Status: Recently married

Children/Ages: In a few years

Occupation: Grad student amongst other things

Pets: Our wonderful cat Ashley

Hobbies/Interests: Crafts, sewing, reading, facebooking...all of this when I have time

Height: 5'4

Eye/Hair Color: Hazel

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: I was overweight from a young age until 16. Got down to 130. I stayed that way till college. & 6 years later here I am at 220

Starting Weight: 220 (I just rejoined)

Present Weight: " "

Goal Weight: 130 would be great..eventually..but any weight loss would be amazing at this moment.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss: I was brought up with food. Food is always at family events. When I spend time with people I often feel like I need to make them something good to eat. Lately, on my busy days I look forward to some of my unhealthy indulgences which is baaaddd.

Following any specific plan: I am thinking about keeping a food log. Most likely on paper, I haven't decided yet. Also, I want to make myself go on our elliptical at least 3 times a week for 30 min. each time.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: When I was younger (like a few years ago) I just wanted to lose weight because of physical reasons (looking better). Now that I am in my mid-20s I actually started to think about all the health problems that could develop and I want to lose weight and be healthy so that I may live a long enjoyable life.

I did this a while back when I used to post about 2 years ago. BUT new goals new me new life new post right??? Here it goes!

First name (if you want to tell): Stephanie
Geographical location: Wyoming & Colorado
Age: 27
Marital Status: Recently married
Children/Ages: Hopefully very very soon
Occupation: Photographer
Pets: Just my husband...
Hobbies/Interests: Photography, movies, running, flickr, blogging...
Height: 5'3
Eye/Hair Color: Hazel
Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Just out of college put on a freshman 25... ouch
Starting Weight: 146 (I just rejoined)
Present Weight: 144.2
Goal Weight: 120 would be great..eventually..
Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss: My schedule is crazy. I am out of town A LOT. Whenever this happens there is no gym and I go into vacation eating mode...
Following any specific plan: I'm a calorie counter... I try for a 7000 cal deficit, I love the elliptical and running outdoors.
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: My husband and I are trying for a baby. I have miscarried twice and I am trying to do everything I can do to give us a better chance. Being in tip top shape will give me a fighting chance. This time its not just for me...

First name (if you want to tell): Amy

Geographical location: North Texas

Age: 25

Marital Status: in a committed relationship

Children/Ages: nope-not yet, thank heavens

Occupation: banker

Pets: two dogs and a cat

Hobbies/Interests: listening to talk radio

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: green/blonde

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: 10/19/2008

Starting Weight: 215

Present Weight: 211.8

Goal Weight: 135

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I feel hungry all the time it seems. I have a hard time keeping a food journal because thinking about food and then having to write about it makes me even more hungry. I have to fight the temptation of the drive-thru as well; I need to get to work in my own kitchen.

Following any specific plan: I am using WW Flex as a guide. That's just to start. Ultimately this is going to be a permanent change in the way I eat and how I'm active.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have a lot of tools available to be that I didn't have before. 3FC is on of them. I also have a scale now to help track my progress. The scale has bioelectrical impedance functions so I can monitor other aspects of my overall body composition. We have a gym, hike/bike paths, tennnis courts, swimming pools, a ball park and a dog park (because I know playing frisbee with my dogs will help me burn calories and allow me to spend quality time with them) in my neighborhood. Also, my guy's mother just had lap-band and it's nice to [finally] have someone to share the small victories with.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I can write in mirror image cursive.

Default Great Idea for New Members Like Me!

First name (if you want to tell): Stacy

Geographical location: Arizona

Age: 24

Marital Status: Just celebrated 1st year anniversary!

Children/Ages: Not now, but someday

Occupation: Architect

Pets: 2 cats: Kevin and Stewart + 2 dogs: Nina and Conan......we're animal people.

Hobbies/Interests: drawing, photography, cooking, home improvement, movies...

Height: 5'-6"

Eye Color: Blue

Hair Color: Light brown now, about to go darker for fall

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Throughout middle school and high school I was more developed than other girls my age, which I interpreted as "fat". I think that's when my body image went downhill. (In reality, I look back at pictures and was not fat AT ALL, just more developed) Insecurites followed me to college and now I just can't seem to gain control.

Starting Weight: 221

Present Weight: 221 - just joining today

Goal Weight: Overall, absolute dream weight would be 145. For now, 170 is my semi-dream weight.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss: My husband played basketball in college. He can pretty much eat whatever he wants and still look amazing. We love to cook together and go out to dinner - sometimes that's the only time we have to hang out so I want it to be special.....which never ends up being healthy.

Following any specific plan: I have always done Weight Watchers off and on. Obviously, it's never been a slam dunk for me, but it's helped me to understand food and analyze it's nutritional value. This time, I don't think I'll be joining but instead I'll use WW guidlines to help me.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Well, I've never tried on online forum like this. I'm going to try to be more laid back about it this time. In the past, I have tended to become obsessed with what I eat and how much I work out....in turn, when I mess up I become really down on myself. This time around, I want healthy food and workouts to become a natural sidenote in my life, not the main focus.

Pets: my precious pouch, Dawson

Hobbies/Interests: Anything outdoors, love football season...I'm a huge fan of College football...go UT!

Height: 5'-1"

Eye Color: Blue

Hair Color: blondish-brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: August 28th, finally joined a gym and wasn't going to waste my money! I haven't looked back since!

Starting Weight: 242

Present Weight: 220

Goal Weight: ultimate goal 135, but I have a few mini-goals along the way.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss: staying motivated! Keeping up the energy!

Following any specific plan: I've done just about everything before...this time, I'm just living "normal" and being conscience of what goes in my mouth! No tricks here...just eating healthy and excersizing!

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I'm just ready right now...I'm focused, driven, motivated, and have set goals this time and I'm bound and determined to get there!

Geographical location: Ireland

Age: 23

Marital Status: Single

Children/Ages: None

Occupation: P.A.

Pets: A cat is stalking my house and I've grown rather attached to it if that counts.

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, movies and tv, cycling, making posters, baking, going to concerts, and planning and list-making.

Height: 5'3"

Eye/Hair Color: Greeny-blue/Dark brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: 18th October 2008

Starting Weight: 169

Present Weight: 167

Goal Weight: 125

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I just had knee surgery a little while ago so it's been several months since I've been able to exercise properly but I'm really enjoying it so far. I always find it really hard to start with but I love it when I get into a routine. Emotional eating and motivation are also issues I sometimes struggle with.

Following any specific plan: Calorie counting, Pilates, and 30 Day Shred so far

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have a plan and targets for myself and I feel oddly motivated like a switch has been turned on and it's suddenly easier than all of those times I've said "Starting on Monday morning..." I'm sure I won't always feel this motivated but it's working at the moment and I'm going with it! Even the fact that I'm posting this rather than lurking is a positive step

Occupation: Published author/SAHM

Pets: None, but on the hunt

Hobbies/Interests: Pet Society on Facebook, reading, x-stitch, crafts.

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: brown/more brown.

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: This time 'round.... I'd like to say yesterday, but I'm not prepared for the whole lifestyle/food prep/family support changes yet. I'm gathering facts and systems information to pick the right method for me. That and I need a day when the man doesn't buy donuts for breakfast. Bleck!

Starting Weight: 264

Present Weight: 264

Goal Weight: 140-150 (open to reevaluation at that marker)

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Seriously? My two meat and potatotes, no sense of taste males in the house.

Following any specific plan: Not yet. Studying what's out there... again.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have a lot more obstacles and hurdles. Absolutely no motivation even though I know my health is at risk.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I took pictures for the first EVER. I have never taken "before" pictures.

First name (if you want to tell): Maggie

Geographical location: Iowa

Age: 26

Marital Status: married for almost 4 years

Children/Ages: I have Joseph who is 2 1/2 and Johanna who is 8 months

Occupation: music teacher

Pets: none, don't need pets when you have a toddler

Hobbies/Interests: music, reading, going to the gym, spending time with my family

Height: 5'5"

Eye/Hair Color: green/brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: It seems like I've always struggled with my weight, but having two kids in the last three years has not helped. I am done having kids now and I don't want to struggle with this for the rest of my life so I'm really committed at this point. I started seriously on October 13 and just found this group today.

Starting Weight: 231

Present Weight: 222

Goal Weight: My goal is 140 but I'd be ecstatic to hit 150.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Oh gosh, I love food. Almost all kinds, especially fast. Also, my husband, who is not super-thin but not fat, loves to eat also and one of our favorite things to do is eat together. I also am a big emotional eater. Have a bad day? Nothing a candy bar can't fix.

Following any specific plan: I've been counting calories, and going to the Y six times a week.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: This might sound strange, but I lost my grandmother a few weeks ago. We were pretty close and she was an amazing person. Seeing her suffer the way she was the last time I saw her made me decide to stop being such a baby and get myself healthy if not for me then for my kids.
