Congrats Jackie on the 160's!!!

I had a really BAD weigh in today. The scale claims that I gained 6 pounds (176) in 2 days. I am pretty sure it's not right, cause I don't know how that happened. I did eat things I normally wouldn't, but I wasn't bad enough to have gained 6 pounds. When I did the calorie calculator, it should have been 1-1.5 pounds gain. I suppose it will take a few days to level out as the food I ate 'exits' my system, retention goes down (sodium) etc. So, we shall see in a couple days what the scale brings. But I still had a HEART ATTACK when I saw that number this am!!

Hi yall

Im at 170 for the last 3 days, and I'm glad to be there but cant freaking wait till I see that 6 instead of the 7...

I hope you gals dont mind me joining this thread, I need all the motivation I can get to get out of the 160s and 170s.

My birthday is coming up and I'm going on vacation a month later, so I need to lose this weight once and for all.

Good luck to all on your journeys.. xo

Good morning, ladies! I'm officially in the 170s now. I hovered at 179.9 for 3 or 4 days last week and was hesitant to actually join this thread. This morning I stepped on the scale and was 178.6! Yay! I'm excited to be in the 170s since it's been a very looooong time since I was here last. Really, I'm just excited to see the scale show anything other than 179.9. Anyways, hoping my time in the 170s is short lived and I'll be in the 160s soon!

Looks like everyone is doing great (though I admit I've only skimmed through the posts on this thread cause I'm short on time right now...I'll read the rest later). Keep up the good work and good luck on reaching your goals!

Jamie! i'm sure the scale is wrong the only time ive ever gained 6 pounds in 2 days is when tom comes to visit I would just give it a couple of day and it should be back to normal just water, water ,water lol!

Bamagirl welcome ! i hope your 170's arte short lived 2 i've been here for months becuase i go through my lazy periods where i dont go to the gym but i'm back on scheduale now so hopefully we'll both be seeing the scale go down consistantly!

I hit 165.8 last Friday! Eek! Maybe I'll be out of the 160s in a couple weeks. (Probably not but a girl can dream, right?)

I started an August challenge for myself to get back in the habit of going to the gym. I've gone 9 out of the last 10 days (totally counting the last two days of July). I'm giving myself one rest day a week if I need it, and last week I needed one because of some major TOM troubles. (Argh!)

I cannot praise exercise enough. I do 30 minutes cardio and 30-45 min. of weight training. Even though I'm not at my goal weight yet, I look in the mirror and like what I see. My legs are toning up... Just waiting for the pesky fat at the very top of my thighs to get lost. I have more energy through the day. It's been a wonderful challenge. (And if I make my goal for the month, my husband is buying me some new Gap jeans! Woot!)

Ughhh...these 170s are taking forever! If I can hurry up and get to 174 I can get a pedicure. I need a pedicure! My scales aren't moving....

Thanks, Jackie! Maybe after TOM, the 170s will be short lived. I hear ya about doing well for a time and then stopping....story of my life.

Heading to the gym straight after work today. I have one week until fall classes start, so it'll be nice to have a taste of what work + working out is like without school to complicate things. I cannot wait to graduate in December and be done with the stress-induced binging that almost always happens around test time. Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Jackie - Tell me about it! This was the first summer I've ever had upper level classes both sessions, and it was brutal! I was proud of myself though. Instead of binging on fast food (like I normally do around test time), I made myself a larger-than-normal salad and stayed within my calories. ::back pat:: How much longer do you have to go?

Hope you get unclogged soon! I am so paranoid about sodium around weigh-in - which is tomorrow! Eek!

Okay, y'all. What a night!

I go home and eat dinner about an hour before heading to the gym because I was starving. Go to the gym, park and realize I forgot my student ID at home. Didn't even attempt to go in because they have a big sign that says "NO ID = NO PLAY!" (Thought I could maybe beg them and plead I come here every day! You KNOW I'm legit!)

I go back home, get my ID, head BACK to the gym. I parallel park in the perfect parking space. The F-150 truck in front of me starts backing up. I'm anxious but hopeful. Nope, he hits me!

At this point, I'm thinking Okay, how am I going to make it in the gym for my workout after we wait for the cops to come and fill out a report?! Turns out? THE GYM IS CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR STAFF TRAINING! What the heck, gym? Don't you know I have a pair of Gap jeans waiting for me but only if I go to the gym EVERY DAY?!

The guy's truck hitch cut into my front bumper and pushed out one of the four pieces of my grill. Guh. We wait for 40 minutes before the cop shows up. He tells us if we file a report he'd have to write a ticket for the person who was at fault. Being the nice person that I am, I say no, we'll handle it personally through our insurance companies. (As long as no one is injured, the worst part of car accidents has got to be dealing with insurance companies. Blah.)

I go back home, no workout. I'm asking my husband if he thinks I should be penalized since there's no way I could have worked out with the gym closed. He starts making jokes about how he's going to downgrade my prize to Walmart jeans. (Nothing against Walmart jeans, but I am in love with Gap's long and lean jeans. They fit me just right!)

So, after all this drama and a long 8 hour day of work to boot, I get ready and head to the office, where we have a rinky dink gym. It has a non-operable stationary bike, a messed-up elliptical (The arms aren't in good, so they bang against the side of the machine.), and an old school Bowflex inside. I did 30 minutes of interval training on the elliptical. (OMG - I was sweating up a storm! I usually do the same level for 30 minutes, so this was different.) Then, because I could not figure out the Bowflex to save my life, I tried some free-weight-esque exercise with the actual weight pieces.

Gotta say, I'm proud of myself for finding a way to work out. Now let's just hope the scale rewards me for all my hard work in the morning!

How did y'all do on exercise this week?

Weighed in at 163.6 today! I am SO nervous about a weekend trip I have planned with a girlfriend next weekend. We're planning to stop at Cracker Barrel in Cincinnati for lunch on our road trip (8.5 hours!). I've already decided I'm going to have a grilled chicken salad, but I know from experience that restaurant salads rarely have the same number of calories that you find in a homemade salad. Then we're going for pizza for dinner. If I can eat the pizza in moderation, I'll be okay. (This will be the first time I've had pizza since my lifestyle change. I'm known to eat it until I'm sick because it's soooo good!)

The real problem will be that Sunday when we spend the entire day at Cedar Point amusement park. I've looked through the menus of restaurants in the park (I'm such a planner!), and there is ONE "healthy" alternative - a cafe with a salad bar. But I know that I could eat, like, a BBQ sandwich, and it wouldn't destroy my calories.

I've already committed to exercising in the hotel pool that Saturday night. If the gym opens up early enough, I could get up and go down for an elliptical machine run early that morning before we head to the park. I'm just freaking out a little here because I don't want to lose my momentum, and I've lost it in the past from short weekend trips. Guh. I keep telling myself I only have to lose 1.1 pounds every week to meet my goal weight by my goal date, but I'm still having a hard time getting through this mentally. Any advice?
