clothes that fit

The whole “I’m going to lose x pounds by y” is so not working for me.  My body does what it does.  I’ve decided I’m going to focus on staying on plan and exercising regularly.  If I do those, then eventually I will lose weight.

What a surprise to me … I actually look better in clothes that fit.  Who knew?  Here I’d been knitting myself sweaters in a 46″ size (because I didn’t like clingy) and then frogging them because they looked like sh*t on me.  I’ve knit two sweaters this month, both size 38-40″ and they look awesome. I’m going to replace all my XXL sweatshirts with my awesome hand-knit sweaters.  :)

I’m going to have a buy new pants too, but really want to wait until March.  I should be okay for another 10 pounds lost or so.  I’ve been over 200 pounds for the last several moves (during which moves I purged anything that didn’t fit), so I don’t have a closet full of one size or several sizes smaller clothes.

the good

Started the day with 20 oz of water.  Lifted weights yesterday, despite forgetting about it until 8:30 pm on a Saturday night.  Went downstairs and lifted anyway.  had light caesar salad and beef for dinner.

I’m trying to get my good habits in place so that when October 1st comes I’m ready to move to the next level.  Good habits include eating 6 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.  Because of where I live getting good tasting fresh fruit is hard to do.  Bananas tend to be the only fruit that tastes consistently good.  Haven’t had a decent apple here in the last three years, regardless of the season, and oranges are very hit and miss.  But that’s okay because if I eat 6 servings of vegetables and no fruit I’ve met that goal.  I eat a lot a salads with little to no dressing anyway and have vegetables and salad for dinner almost every night and a salad (usually coleslaw) about 3 pm every day.  I’m don’t care for a dressing much, just a tad to give it a little tang, so that’s not a problem.

I need to make sure I stay hydrated.  I’m not a coffee drinker, very occasionally hot tea, primarily water.  But I live in a place that is very dry and it’s hard to stay hydrated.  Plus there’s a part of me that wonders if all drinking that water does is make me go to the bathroom more then what’s the point?
