Today I found a book by Christopher Hopkins: Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45. He calls this part of our life “The Second Act.” I really like that concept.
I read somewhere today (maybe there) that 40ies are old for being young, and 50ies are young for old age. That’s exactly what it feels like! I felt old and worn out in my 40ies and now I feel like I’m starting again with a fresh start, but wiser this time around - and I’m almost 60! I actually feel better and have more energy.
It walks you through changing your thinking and then changing other things, too, like hair, make-up , dress styles. I only read the first chapter or two but did the suggested exercises and got a lot out of it.
I’ll post some of the things I came up with here. Meanwhile, here are some (loose) quotes from the book.
- Information without a system of implementation is simply trivia.
- Turn attempts into achievements.
- Aspire - Want it!
- I need a method to fuel my desire.
- I can be miserable, or I can motivate myself.
- Procrastination kills accomplishments.
