Four Foods to Avoid on the Slimming World Diet

The Slimming World Diet is a diet that promotes the consumption of foods that are low in calories. In addition, this diet discourages the consumption of foods that are sugary or fatty. If you are following the Slimming World Diet, it is equally important to understand what you can and cannot eat. Below are four items that you should avoid if you are following the Slimming World Diet.

Red Meat

While you are allowed to consume meat on the Slimming World Diet, you are instructed to eat only lean meats. Lean meats typically include chicken, pork, turkey, etc… Red meat such as steak and roast beef contain a high amount of saturated fat, meaning that they don’t fall into the classification of “lean.” In addition, the saturated fat found in red meat has been linked to the development of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and some cancers. Finally, when cooked, red meat is typically seasoned with large amounts of added salt. While salt has no added calories, it can still be damaging to our health. Salt has been found to be linked to the development of arterial and cardiovascular diseases.

Shell Fish

The Slimming World Diet allows you to include fish in your diet. Fish is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are effective in the prevention of stroke, cancer, and other chronic diseases. Unfortunately, shell fish, such as shrimp, crab, and lobster aren’t as healthy for you. These items contain high amounts of dietary cholesterol, which can lead to increases in LDL, or “lousy” cholesterol, and decreases in HDL, or “healthy” cholesterol. In addition, these items are often prepared in a way that provides high amounts of added salt, calories, and fat. It is best to avoid them when on the Slimming World Diet.

Baked Goods

Baked goods, such as cookies and cakes should also be avoided when on the Slimming World Diet. These products, while delicious, contain high amounts of sugar and other simple carbohydrates which have been found to provide a quick energy burst and then a subsequent drop. Also, consumption of high amounts of sugar and other simple carbohydrates may lead to the development of type 2 diabetes and certain other chronic diseases. In addition, most baked goods contain high amounts of added fat, calories, and salt, which make them extremely toxic to those trying to lose weight. Skip the baked goods and your waistline will thank you in the long run!

Olive Oil

Olive is restricted on the Slimming World Diet. And while olive oil is composed primarily of fat, it is a healthy fat that has been found to be effective in the treatment and prevention of some diseases. If you are considering starting the Slimming World Diet, you may want to consider speaking with a health care professional about the possibility of including olive oil in your diet in small quantities. When taken in small amounts, it can be effective in providing many health benefits. It may even be effective in achieving weight loss over the long term.
