kcx, gotta look up yogurt margarine, I've never heard of it. Maybe it will help me to like grilled cheese. I fix them for the kids but I'm not fond of them. Glad yours was tasty

Diana your lunch makes me want to go to the deli, but again gotta go north I always use 60 for my apple and I always slice it off the core. It would be nice to know it's 20cals less

Fashin good for you on the .5

Today's eats 8/20/10

Breakfast (386)
skim, 3 strips bacon, boiled egg w/1.5 tsp margarine, plain whole wheat toast, 1/2 grapefruit

Snack (190)
9 organic tortilla chips w/ 3tbsp fiesta dip

Lunch (302)
steamers broccoli & cheddar, deli ham, skim, sf jello w/1/2c n/s peaches, cool whip, 1/2 grapefruit

Snack (337)
Fit & active s'mores snack, Special K crackers, 1oz unsalted cashews

Dinner (194)
Activia light vanilla, 1/2c V8 w/1/2c V8 fusion, 1/2 grapefruit, diet cranberry

Total calories 1377
Water 96oz plus 32oz decaf tea
Exercise 30DS, Level 1 and 3.18 miles walk

I'm super tired this evening not sure why. I did both my exercises almost back to back that could be it. I had been doing 30DS earlier in the afternoon. We are finishing our walk 3 minutes earlier than we use to. I told DH that we need to step it up to 3.5 to 4 miles on a regular basis. I made chili yesterday (only 285 calories) that is really good. I had planned to have it again for dinner today but things didn't go as planned. I also made a pan of cornbread, had planned to have an ounce of that too. So tomorrow for lunch or dinner I will have my 455 calorie meal . Sorry for all the jumping around, night night

Hi everyone!
Diana- I feel very bloated during TOTM around my waist/hips/thighs..I've noticed my fingers retaining fluid a little, too.. as my ring sometimes feels tighter. The joys of being us, huh!?

My day went well- drank plenty of water, exercised, and stayed within my allowed points. I stepped on the scale this morning at 293.6!! Two days ago I was 296.8. It's amazing what happens when I'm aware of my points each day! I talked to a cousin of mine the other day who's also on weight watchers and has lost 93 lbs as of today (awesome!).. we talked about how much of losing weight is finding the right balance of what goes in and what you burn. Her and I are a lot alike when it comes to mentality of working out. We used (still hard to break the habit sometimes) to feel that if we weren't exerting ourselves during our frequent workouts all week, we wouldn't lose a pound. This is completely the opposite.. when one works out to that extent and is not balancing eating a little more calories, it is one of the quickest ways to gain weight! I've personally experienced gaining weight as soon as I start exerting myself in my workouts.. no good. I see much more results when I work out 3-4 days a week doing 20 mins of something that doesn't involve "killing" myself if you know what I mean!

Anyway, I'm posting a bit earlier tonight in hopes to go to bed early. In a week I'm going to be going to bed around 8:30 because school is starting back up and 5:30 a.m comes awfully early (plus.. I need more sleep to deal with all my students! lol). Hope everyone had a great day.

Good Morning! I hope you have a great Saturday!

I went to bed earlier than I normally do on the weekends. I was exhausted! I got between 8 and 9 hours sleep, so YAY for me!

Fashin Great job on the .5. You are doing really well.

Love2B I buy apple snack packs. Some are 35 calories and some are 40 calories. I prefer to have very little to clean up at lunch. I eat lunch at my desk and as soon as I start slicing an apple, or doing something messy a customer will walk in, etc. I also buy my lettuce in a similar way as the apples. The romaine lettuce is individual lettuce leaves in a bin. Ready to use, no cutting, etc. If you don't mind saying, where do you live. I know you mentioned I-95. We live fairly close to I-95, but as you know I-95 goes from one end of the planet to the other.

KeepLookinFwd Thanks for the reply. Great job on the losses!

Good morning and happy weekend all!

Fashin - congrats on .5! Woot!

Vixsin - keep us posted on the date!

Lauren - We grow everything in our garden...I am part of a community so we have a lot of land and a lot of people to work on it. Herbs and veggies of all kinds (as you can tell from my posts). For starting out, I'd recommend starting with basil, and tomatoes - radishes also grow fast and aren't hard, but I personally am not that crazy about them. Basil and tomato you could even do on a windowsill in planters. Nothing like growing some of your own food! I'm really lucky that so much of my food (not just veggies and herbs, but fruit, eggs, and meat as well) comes from the land on which I live.

Breakfast - 2 slices whole wheat toast, natural almond butter, coffee with splash of milk, small fruit salad (strawberry, cantaloup, watermelon)

snack - 3 prunes, a few walnuts

lunch - pita bread pizza with garden pesto, tomato, peppers, onion. Salad with shredded carrots, apple and raisins.

snack - Handful of organic tortilla chips with lime (whole grain, but still)

dinner - homemade oven baked "fries" with garden potatoes, steamed sweet potato greens and chard (from garden), and meatloaf (both 'fries' and meatloaf weight watchers cookbook recipes). Meatloaf is healthier through including a lot of veggies (carrot, peppers, onions, tomato) and substituting tomato paste for ketchup, and using oatmeal as a binder instead of bread crumbs.

snack - Diet Pepsi (every once in a while have one as a treat...) and some popcorn (but reasonable amount, popped one bowl of it and shared it among four other people). Was hungry again at 9:30 pm (which in a weird way feels like success, means I didn't eat too much at dinner, even though I don't like to eat before bed) so had some whole wheat bread with leftover homemade baba ghanoj (yum, yum).

and, hey, it was a no sugar/no HFCS day - which I wasn't even trying for! Of course, I had artificial sweetener in my diet soda, but still, a success.

exercise: 25 minutes hula hooping

weight: didn't weigh today, figured after the popcorn last night I might be up from salt so didn't want to risk it.

Planning to go to a movie today but not buying or bringing any treats. I'll let you all know how my adventure in trying a new cuisine (Korean) goes tonight.

fashin, yay for 1/2 lb. Good job on staying within your calories, i did not yesterday. I basically ate maintenance.
keep looking--I gain when i eat too little for my activity as well. Good job on getting that moment of clarity.

Thanks everyone! Was down another .5 lb this morning which is 2.5 lbs in 3 days so I know it's water weight but it's still exciting to see the scale go down!

The Asian Society of Oklahoma is having their annual 'Taste of Asia' tonight and I'm thinking about going with a girl friend of mine. Basically you pay $10 to sample cuisine from 15 or so different Asian countries. I think it sounds really neat but it could be bad for my diet if I'm not careful.

blue, you are so lucky to live in such a community and have such fresh everything!

Jen, I hate it when I get that hungry. You did really well though and only went over your cals a little and that .2 will be gone in no time!

Here's my tentative food for today:

8/21/2010 Check-in:

Breakfast (345)
large cup of coffee w/ 3 tbsp ff Coffee Mate cinnamon creamer- 75
2 eggs scrambled- 140
1/2 slice 2% American cheese- 22.5
2 tbsp chunky salsa- 10
1 slice 100% whole wheat low cal toast w/ 1/2 tbsp light veggie oil "butter"- 70
1/4 cup oj- 27.5

Lunch (360)
2 small whole wheat tortillas- 160
4 tbsp bean dip- 70
4 tbsp leftover Mexican hamburger helper- 75
2 tbsp light sour cream- 40
shredded lettuce- 5
2 tbsp chunky salsa- 10
H2O- 0

Snack PM (112)
light & fit raspberry yogurt- 80
1 square 50% dark chocolate- 32
H2O- 0

Dinner (Thai restaurant, 665)
shrimp pad Thai- 465
1 fried spring roll- 100
1 cup egg drop soup- 100
H2O- 0

= apprx 1,482 calories

ETA: We weren't able to make it to the Asian Tasting after all, so we decided to go eat Thai food instead (my first time). I am pretty sure I'm going to get pad Thai even though I really want to try their green chicken curry. But, I tried curry when I was in NYC a few months ago (I think it was yellow curry though?) and I really disliked it but I think green curry might be totally different... Anyone have any good advice? Lol

Sara, great job

Thanks kcx, I'll google it and see if it is around here. Though I doubt it. I can't find anything I want here But I am all for trying new things.

Diana I'll have to look for those apple snack packs also. When I would volunteer at the school I would always take a banana if I wanted fruit because it was easy. Didn't know you could buy apple slices or Romaine lettuce like that. I guess I need to pay attention.

Blueridgegirl, I remember being a girl and going to Durham every summer to stay with my cousins. I loved being able to just go get what I wanted. I miss that ... even though I was so glad to hit 15 and say I don't want to work the fields anymore. But I did like the convenience

Peguin my scale plays that game also And yes it is after saying it hasn't moved

Thanks Jen, I think I figured out where my two day bloat is coming from. I started spotting today, so TTOM is coming for the second time this month. I knew it would since I came on on 7/31. (blah blah blah) I want out of the 170's pleaseeeeeeee

Fashin, that's great. Have fun at the tasting.

Oh forgot to mention I am down .8 a new low of 173.2. I got on the scale a few times hoping to see 172 but it hid itself well.

Ugh, well, I'm back.

So the weekend in the hotel really didn't help get my eating back on track. That weekend, all I ate was pretty much crap - English breakfasts, no lunch (naughty) and then stuff like curry or chips for dinner.

And since I got back on Tuesday, my diet has just got... weird.

All I want to eat right now are those Kallo rice puffs, melted mozzarella cheese, pate and potato wedges. I have no desire to eat anything else although I did manage to get some salmon and salad to stay down for dinner. If food is put in front of me I will eat it, but given the choice I'd rather eat next to nothing. I'm subsisting on fruit juice and cups of tea at work.

The worst thing is I can't pinpoint WHY. The last time I ate like this, I was very depressed, but I'm pretty okay. I don't really feel down, I just... don't feel like eating. Meh.

Welcome back Wysteria. I get like that sometimes also but it doesn't last long. Hope you feel like eating better soon if that makes sense
