Well I'm doing the old style plan and am still losing weight so I'm sticking to that. Dont really eat many ready meals though.

Try buying a book from ebay. I'm not going to the club. Someone gave me a book and I bought another from ebay and thats getting me along fine.

Well that is a first class B**mer if SW have now decided that canned macaroni is high in sins. OK it is not haute cuisine and I try to avoid package stuff - but when you share (and can never get in ) a kitchen at "home" and only have a micro at work it does narrow down what one can eat. However unless the recipe has changed then I don't see why they have done that. OK so from time to time manufacturers change recipes -for new improved - read more fatty ingredients to stuff up the dieter. Ah well... I will have to live on raw food(eek!)

Hi all. Sorry to have been AWOL for so long. Things have been a bit hectic. For those of you that need to cook with a microwave and are craving macaroni cheese. Batchelors Cheese and Broccoli pasta and sauce are free on a green day and are far yummier than tinned varieties.

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad I found this site. I'm trying to lose weight, but not attending a club. My friends have taught me everything I know about Slimming World. I lost 1.5 lbs last week and am taking it slowly and surely this time around. Last time I fell off the wagon because I sprained me ankle and couldn't exercise...

Anyone know how many syns in a green and black's individual chocolate piece? I like having one a day as the chocolate hit is high for what it is - tiny!

Welcome Ella I looked up G&B there were lots of options

Green & Black's Organic Chocolates Collection, Dark, Milk & White each 2½ Syns

Green & Black's Organic Chocolate Bar, Dark 20g mini 6 Syns

Green & Black's Organic Chocolate Bar, Milk 20g mini 5½ Syns

A syn is basically 20 cals = 1 syn unless it has any free food in it.

Thanks Superwitch for the comments for microwave users. Tell me, did this new info (re some stuff becoming high in syns now) come out just recently as I have the syns book (the bluey green one). OK I am being lazy and haven't checked for myself but then I don't attend class now.

I am not sure when the changes came in. All I know is that tinned macaroni has been synned ever since I joined a few months back.

I unfortunately can't join Slimmer's World (most of the branded foods aren't available here, anyway) but I wonder if someone would be willing to share the recipe for the chips done in the oven?

Congratulations to all of you, you're doing so well!

S.W. Sin Free Chips.

2lbs/908g medium sized Maris Piper potatoes.
Fry Light Spray.
Crushed Sea Salt and malt vinegar (optional)

Recipe serves 4. FREE on Green. 8 on Original.
You could use 1lb of spuds and have yourself if you're a greedy bugger like me

Preheat the oven to 240C/475F/Gas9. Peel the spuds and slice lengthwise into thick chips. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil add the chips and cook for 4 minutes. Drain and leave aside for 10 minutes to dry. (I don't do this I dry them on paper towels) Return the chips to the dry saucepan put the lid on and shake to "rough up" the edges of the chips, this roughness is important to the texture of the chips ( I don't do this either ) Spray a metal baking tray with Fry Light and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown. Drain them on absorbent kitchen paper ( I don't do this either I do as little as possible don't I? ) and serve with salt and vinegar

Ooooh, i've just spotted that you're in the States so use Russets and Pam Spray

Thanks Veggie - you have answered a question I have asked everybody! My friend is doing WW and has recently bought herself a points calculator. Put in the calories and saturated fat and hey presto - a points value. I always wondered why SW didn't give away the Syns calculation. So now I know. I can't believe those tiny slivers of chocolate are 2.5 syns though Might as well just have a chocolate bar for a couple more.

Another question for those with the SW food directory - does it state which foods can be used as a healthy extra option as well as the syns value? I'm currently drinking those flavoured provamel soya milks as my HE A option (the choccie one is delish!) and wondered if it was ok to do so. The book does state 250 ml sweetened soya milk is fine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Cat90. There is absolutely nothing in the States like real chips - my first indulgence when I'm across the water. I'm going to try these over the weekend. I'll probably have two portions!

Does anyone know the new password for SW?

I've been following it for just under 2 weeks and my trousers definitely feel looser. I look forward to weigh day on Saturday!
