Oh well done you! Yeh trying to stay away from the chocs, but it's going to be hard....but been really active walking this week and hopefully it will stay somewhat dry so I can keep walking lol....
Hi, I've just started body optimise, the online thing. I live in Sweden (although I'm English) so it seemed like a good choice, so I paid up then realised there are no forums on the site, so I was hoping I might find some real people here.
I'm pretty awful at dieting and no tmuch better at cooking (she says having just eaten some home made syn free falafel that looked and tasted like grout), but really want to do it this time. I've been getting fatter for 11 years now and enough is enough.
SO can I play?
Hello farawayshore! I too joined body optimise online a few weeks ago ... I'm also English, but live on an even farther away shore ... Hong Kong! So thought the online version would be a good choice for me. I tried it once before, but only for a short period, and the results were pretty good ... I never expected to be able to eat so much and still lose weight! This time however, I've struggled to make a start, lost a few pounds in the first 2 or 3 weeks, then the Easter hols arrived, so I've been off work (work in a school) and enjoying lots of social engagements! ... I've never been able to say no! Right now though, I'm struggling to find a wedding outfit that will actually fit and look good ... got a big family wedding to attend back in the UK on 8th August and I'm getting desperate! So, I've started again, updated my tracker, and I'm back on track (sort of!). I'm basically trying to make sure that I always choose healthy options ... even if I'm not following the Body Optimise plan perfectly ... I've always been a calorie counter in the past, so find it hard not to compare both. Either way, I hope I can manage to lose 25-30lbs before having no choice but to buy an outfit that I don't like!! ... If all else fails, I believe tents come in very nice colours now! Good luck on the plan!

Hi Nichola, pleased I'm not the only one! I will also be in the UK for a wedding in August. Have a new outfit to wear that fits fine, but willl look much better if I lose a bit. But not my main motivation, it suddenly dawned on me that the baby who brought me the first extension to my belly is now 11 and, of course, I live in a country where beautiful, tall, slim, blonde young women are everywhere. It's also is very health and image aware and it has helped me to see that I'm a wreck! Everyone else my age looks much younger, and although I'm not one of those people who obsess over being thin, I would dearly love to be a bit thinner and a lot fitter.
I'm on day 3 now and although I have resisted the temptation to weigh myslef (well, not much of a tempation really) I am feeling a bit worried because I'm eating much more than ususal...past, rice, curry..lots of thins I ususally stay away from. I'm sticking to the plan though and will see how it goes on Monday.
Good luck then!
I hear what you're saying ... I've had my baby weight for 20 years now, so I really should do something about it! And living in Hong Kong, and being surrounded by very petite, dark haired, oriental beauties, should be a motivation! Seriously though, the health side of things is a concern to me ... being overweight and mid-forties is not a great combination! I don't want to be a size zero, I just want to look nice in clothes, and be able to shop in normal stores. I also feel that I look older than others my age ... and I don't want to be old before my time!
Sorry I meant to get back to you before but combination of work nightmare and forgetting my password (constantly, drives me nuts) has stopped me. BUT (check this out) I lost about half a stone last week. And I am totally convinced nONE if it was water or muscle .
Still have been hanging over the scales this week and they refuse to move, but I'm sticking with it. My sister sent me a big bar of Cadburys and I gave it to my husband, that MUST be worth a pound or so.
Looks like we are the same kind of age with the same kind of problems though I have more to lose than you-keep me company?
Now to see if I can change this timeline thingy...
I also joined Body Optimise last week. The website isn't very intuitive but once you finally find the features they are really good. I am very busy with my job and cannot get to a class, so decided to diet "online". I can't believe they don't have a forum, but this one is probably a lot more useful anyway. I did Slimming World 12 years ago and got to 8st but a combination of starting my own business sat at computer, and age/laziness crept up on me gradually. Just did my first weigh-in and have lost 6lb which I would expect first week! Great. I have been enjoying the food all week, missing puds (hate sweetener) and hope I have the will power to continue!!
Super Chunk? Surely not! Where in Wales are you? If I ever find my way back to the U.K think I might fancy somewhere beautiful like Snowdonia. A plodding week, desperate for sugar , no low fat yoghurts or sugar free jelly crystals in the shops and not sure of 1.5% cottage cheese is low enough. Swedes don't seem to diet much-they eat LOADS of sweets, that's for sure!
Am hosting big dinner party next week which is supposed to be traditional British-there go my syns....and then my Mother arrives-here come the emotional eating, she's not exactly supportive, thinks I'm very unworthy of my happy life! Oh well, good luck to everyone, I've been tweaking the blue line of the body optimise website to see how quickly I can get rid of all this fat!
Nice to meet you Faraway Shore, I'm far, far away from Snowdonia near the City of Cardiff but we've still got hills, and some nice coastline near here so walking the dogs is the little exercise I get (I've joined the gym but yet to get into it). Hey what will you serve at your dinner party? I've been doing the Extra Easy every day and it's awesome, we had friends over for dinner and had hot and sour soup, followed by steak, chips and salad (OK I ate 2 chips but a massive salad) and then a big fruit salad and I had a small amount of cream, plus about 4 wine and sodas and I still lost half a stone. It seems to be just healthy eating without any fat, much better than the days when you had to choose red or green. Oh how I wish they had a forum though.
If you need a good recipe for soup, I have an awesome butternut squash soup which everyone loves I can send you; it's really comfort food and you can serve it to your mam and give her a bit of bread and butter with it, she won't even know you're on a diet.
Sweetener sucks by the way doesn't it? My downfall is dessert, and I haven't had much luck yet finding the right ones. I always eat 2 weight watchers yoghurts (can you get those in Sweden) and they do help a bit.
yes please to the squash soup recipe-I LOVE squash and sweet potatoes, and at the moment am eating a lot of veggie curry made with sweet potatoes and could do with a change.
Only been to Cardiff once but seemed lovely, mind you I was right by the stadium. The where do I want to live game takes up quite a lot of my dreaming time!Having said that it's beautiful here...not feeling too homesick at the moment-hot & sunny for us & my brother says it's cold and wet at home.
Found some very low fat vanilla yoghurt in a milk type carton today. Am assuming it's sin free although it tastes worryingly yummy!I have no idea about the dinner party, like the sound of hot & sour soup. Recipe????
Don't have what it takes to cook 10 steaks, need to think of something I can do in advance. Husband has requested chocolate bread & butter puddings & dressed Pimms all round. Thinking of making a fruit salad for a choice-usually I'm not the only dieter...
I'm on extra easy too.I'm useless at counting calories and syns so I just try to stick to the syn free stuff, take the milk in my tea and sometimes 2 small slices of toast (baked beans, can't live without them) for healthy extras.
DO go to the gym. I used to go lots, can't now as have an ear problem which makes me too dizzy for most of the machines, but when I did go I weighed much less and it really makes you feel good. I do lots of walking and swimming but I think running is the best exercise for losing weight. People here swear by cross country skiiing-and even have special roller skis for the summer months! And they are super fit here.

Sorry I forgot to post this! I just copied it from my blog which my family use but the site won't let me send a link. Use the fat free version of yoghurt etc (if using to accompany) and you will be fine.
The receipe is:
Ingredients
2 medium sized butternut squash, peeled and cubed
1 large onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic chopped (no need to mince as it gets whizzed later)
vegetable stock (vegetable boullion is good), probably about 2 pints but you can add more until you get the consistency you like.
Simply soften the onions in either some butter or if you’re dieting (like me) in Fry Light. Then, add the squash, stock and garlic and bring to the boil then simmer for 15 minutes or until the squash is soft.
Puree using a hand blender (can be done directly in the pan) until smooth.
Ready to serve!
Optional: A blob of yoghurt and cream is lovely but adds calories. Also delicious with shaved parmesan cheese or chopped coriander leaves.
Suitable for vegetarians!
This soup is super easy to make and delicious – it’s almost like a puree, and its really healthy and filling!
Also, squash is a "Speed Food" so you not only feel full, but lose weight quick too.
