Mmmm Caramac I've never made choux pastry, I thought you had to boil up water and stuff. Don't tell me it's easy to make I'll be going home and burying my face in a bath of profiteroles!

What the heck can the police do if you refuse to exchange money? It's not a crime, you've still charged for a service you provided and if the person demanding it changes their mind then tough luck. I'd say, yeah go ahead and call the Police and I'll tell them you're making a big fuss over nothing and trying to scam us

I don't want to know if it's easy. Must not start making pastry...

I'm feeling a bit blah today. My parents were up about 3 to go to the airport, so that woke me up, then I overslept because I'd forgotten to set my alarm. I still made it to the gym for a swim before work though.

It's running club tonight, and a hill I hate. I must make myself do it, particularly as I won't be doing a long run at the weekend, unless I can force myself to do one on a hotel treadmill. I'm going to Spain on Saturday/Sunday, and I'm staying near the airport on Friday night. The airport hotel has a gym, and I suppose I could get my long run in then. It depends what time my cunningly arranged meeting near the airport finishes, I suspect I'll actually be done about 3pm so won't even have an excuse for skiving it other than it will bore me to tears if I have to run for more than an hour on the thing.

Melted mars bars and caramac!! I love profiteroles, one of my fave desserts.

Sarah - my DH used to lose his rag over everything, he's worked a lot on improving his temper/patience which I'm very happy with as you can imagine. Those fraudsters with the PO scam need locking up, we're always having people call the office here trying to get free food, not quite the same level as 500 pounds but con artists make my blood boil.

Frus I'll be giving those cheesy rock buns a go, or not! bwuahaha

I've just spent a good 10 minutes getting the upper hand with a cold-caller from India re: a new mobile phone contract

Yes I'm bored! First of all he called me Mrs "maiden name" THEN he proceded to second guess what my contract was and what I was paying on O2, which is nothing like what I'm paying since I'm a very very old Genie customer and I get unlimited free text messages and 50 off-peak minutes a day He then tried to sell me 2 various packages which were rubbish compared to mine - one at £35 a month! I only pay £20 and I get more talk time! He then tried to tell me that my cross-network minutes that I would be getting for free would be useful in an emergency I'm really not going to be bothered about the cost of my minutes if it's an emergency am I? I'm not going to be sitting there thinking, "Well, I just got my leg half amputated by a truck, but I don't want to call 999 since it's going to cost me 50p a minute! I did tell him that too

Anyway, so I'm nibbly and relieved of my teaching duties for the night and DH is staying late at work and this is when I want to raid the cupboards! I should be teaching and keeping myself occupied!

I bought some interesting bars at the petrol station that are actually quite high-protein. I can't remember what they were called.. Self bars maybe I should look them up. Anyway, one's chocolate and the other is oats and fruit. I'm saving them for tomorrow.

I know its not the point... but I thought 999 calls on a mobile were free. Well.... they were in the days when I worked for Vodafone. Maybe its changed. You used to be able to dial 999 even when you were blocked for non payment - I think it was part of the licensing deal that emergency calls were free.

I hate cold callers, you can register with the telephone market preference thing so you dont get any more.... well you don't get any that originate inside the UK.

CG - I'm not usually very fussed about sweet desserts but I do love home made choux pastry - savoury OR sweet.

Frus, I didn't know petrol stations understood the concept of healthy food - you'll probably find their full of hydrogenated saturated fats or something.

Lynne - your husband must be trying very hard - it must be very difficult to overcome a natural inclination to anger.

The run wasn't too bad, but I did seem to struggle more than normal. (But then again I don't normally back up the next day after a long run). I think it will be an early night for me tonight, after being woken up in the middle of the night last night I could do with a nice sleep through.

I have a bit of chocolate next to my bed to nibble on while I catch up on everyone's news though...

The sound of those profiteroles are making me drool

I signed up to that telephone preference service too and it works a treat, we still get them at work though. You can always tell cold callers, especially the ones from India because it takes them so long to say hello. My favourite trick is just to say "hello?....hello?...helloooo??" and then hang up the phone

Evening all...(Dixon of Dock Green...showing my age now)

Sarah, the profiteroles sound delish, I'm no baker so wouldn't even think of making them and if I did, I'd eat the lot... they're def one of my weaknesses...amoung too many others I might add

That PO nonsense soesn't sound good at all. What's the matter with the world today, can't people just go out, get a job and earn their own money instead of nicking it from others...

About your uniform, you'll be comfy in it in no time...

Jen, your phone plan sounds pretty good..glad you got the upper hand on the telemarketer....I used to get threatening phone calls from the 'police' charity people when we first moved over here, they asked for donations and got heavy handed and called you back if you told them no or hung up on them... they're totally illeagal and they scared me to death back then. Thankfully we have a do not call list now and I'm not scared if someone calls now anyway, I just tell them where to go.

CG... are you getting any snow yet? It's on it's way here from your part of the country...

Michelle, you sound so happy in yourself, glad to hear that you had a good laugh with your Dad...he sounds a lovely bloke...

Our day concerning Hannah has been better today, she went to school for half an hour... I know that doesn't sound like anything, but the fact that she left the house is brilliant. We are also seeing a therapist now and had our or her..I just sit there...2nd session today...so we're moving forward and I am so glad as these past few weeks have been very stressful and I feel very inadequate as a Mother not being able to help her.

Yesterday I asked her to play tennis with me out on the road...it was sunny and not windy for a change, and we played for about half an hour until our hands were too cold...not really tennis weather, but she loves it...and boy could I feel muscles working that don't usually... even this morning there were some achy spots...all good though

Right, well I'd best get the dinner dishes done and then time for the before 24 comes on later... I like to be in my jammies in front of the fire with a cuppa for that. See you all tomorrow

This http://snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0505112029sbc is what I bought at the Sainsbury's petrol station.

Re: 999 calls, yes there free I was just being silly to try and annoy him, but boy would he not stop!!!! We are with the TPS and he was very definitely a foreign caller I was just bored!

Glad Hannah's feeling better

Well I watched Million Dollar Baby for the second time last night and still ended up blubbing my eyes out for the last hour! I do love that film though! Even DH, who joined me halfway through liked it

My knee is feeling slightly better and I will take it to the gym today but not squat - or at least do some very very light ones. I have yesterday's ubwo to catch up on anyway, so I'll do that and some calf raises. I've got kickboxing tonight and the WAKO tournement on Saturday My first biggie external tournament I am SO ready for a fight!

Hey Everyone...went for my run Sunday, it felt so good since I've been grounded due to the freezing cold. Some crazy old lady thought I was running the marathon. The marathon is in April and the whole city basically shuts down. I have no idea why she thought it was on Sunday

Helen if you can do an hour on the treadmill you are amazing, I despise it and I want to kick it when I walk by it at the gym.

Chris, I so need this snow, I want a snow day. Now they are already downplaying how much we are going to get. I need a free day off!!!!

Michelle your relationship with your Dad is great, it always makes me laugh. My Dad was very fun too. He died when I was 18, I like to think if he was still around he would be like yours....(not to get all sappy on ya )

Sarah, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, my friend is having a bunch of people over for dinner, she wants us to sample a bunch of cheese....ugh....YUM. I'll have to try and behave.

Frus, "Patrick" from my cellphone company (clearly in India) called me the other day too. Poor thing didn't realize he was offering me less minutes for more money. I said Patrick you better practice your script before you keep calling with these deals. He was mad.

Cold again today but I may attempt another outside run...we'll see.

Have a great day all.

Morning all

Bloody cold here once again, but at least the wind isn't blowing too hard for now and it's clear out... waiting upon the snow arriving late tonight.

I've been to curves this morning and I felt like it was the hardest workout there of my life...It's not hard, but you can see and feel subtle changes in your body, but today for some reason, I felt exausted and could feel muscles working over time... a good feeling though.

I have a friend coming over this afternoon for a and natter...she's been down in Florida since before Christmas so it should make for an interesting afternoon. I have been a bit naughty though and bought a banana nut loaf to have with our I'll have to walk miles on the to work it all off... and I don't think I can walk that long in one place at the moment..

Ok, time to get some more firewood in and prepare for the wintery weather... hope that you're all having a good day
