Boy did I have a FABULOUS SURPRISE yesterday!! My SIL who lives in Cincinnati called and invited me to their timeshare on GRAND CAYMAN in just 3 short weeks!!!! I'm THERE, Babes! How cool is that??!! I'm outta here
and beach-bound on March 18th!
Now. I must be good. I MUST BE GOOD...and try my very best to drop a few before then! Can I do it???? With your help I...I think I can!
Surf.....I love American Idol.....the ones voted off last night were the ones I thought had the least talent, so I was happy. I also love Survivor and Dancing with the Stars!
My Gazelle....WHENEVER the darn thing gets here.....is a glider-type exerciser, for the best description I can give you. No impact for old farties like me! LOL I posted a picture on an earlier post, or you can check out the one we're getting at http://www.homefitnessclub.com/jump....ProductID=4074
Have a great day all.....we're off to a very early dentist appointment!
I had a good day yesterday, and the snacking at night is, while not under controle, is at least now planned! I feel like I'm more in controle! Of course, one little thing can set me off so i'm still working hard.
Surf, Some one mentioned before that on the Opra show it was stated that when you get those hunger pains, and you've already had your meal, that is when your body is trying to lose weight! So I guess we all have to suffer some! I try to tell myself that in the morning I will be mising some fat. But it's not good to get too hungry either. Do you plan a snack? Sometimes something with a little protein will take those hunger pains away without doing much damage. You must be so excited about getting a personal trainer!!!! I would love to have one for just a day to show me some exercises for trouble area's (stomach) and make sure that I am performing the ones that I do right.
Jill, How exciting! In just a few weeks you will be basking in the sun and walking in the sand. Of course you can lose some weight while you're waiting! A little more to make sure you look HOT in that bathing suit and shorts. This gives you incentive to work hard, and you could if that darn gazelle would get there! Has to be soon!
It's been awhile since I have checked in here, been so busy around here.
Sorry to hear you have been sick Cheryl, take care of yourself!
I have really started to workout lately, and Oh my poor body!!! it never knew it had those muscles that are so sore. I would laugh about it but it hurts to much I started working out with a stability ball, thinking it would not hurt my arthritic knees and give me some sort of exercise. Boy was I right, I never dreamed it would work my muscles this hard. (or maybe they are just in shock) I have also been lifting weights to work out my arms. After I go through all this weight loss I sure don't want to look like I have water wings all the time.
I am glad you guys said something about the scales, I have been looking for new scales. I hate mine cause in a 5 min time period I can get 5 different weights. I go for the lowest when I can I have been looking at the WW scale and for the price I think that is the one I will go with. I just want one that is accurate.
Last week I thought I had blown all my hard work. When I am around the house I don't have a problem sticking to my points and doing fine. But last Sat we ended up going into NYC to help DH nephew move into an apartment. I ate breakfast before we left and then we got busy, very busy and lunch came and went, (no food) by 4pm I was starving and I knew that was a bad sign. His nephew took us out to dinner and I knew I wouldn't be able to stay on pts. I just ordered a turkey burger /w fries and was so hungry ate the whole thing. When we got back home I figured my pts as well as I could even padded them a bit. I did go over my daily pts by 10 pts but I never eat my extra 35 pts during the week so even with going over on 1 day I still stayed within what I could do on a weekly basis. When weigh in came on Monday I was surprised I had lost 2 lb. I don't want to pat myself on the back cause I know from past experiences that I can't do that on a regular basis. I have to stick strickly to a plan or I talk myself out of dieting alltogether. Oh this won't hurt, or just once won't hurt etc. and before I know it the lbs are back and I say forget it. I am determined not to do that this time.
Well guys, I have to get moving, got carpet men coming by here in a bit and have to get dressed and eat breakfast.
I am still waiting for my Sonoma diet book. I have not really started the diet yet, but exercising as much as my body can tolerate. Meowee, I have 2 cats. One old one, she has been with us for 17 years, she has never been ill a day in her life. The second cat was camping on our doorstep when we moved into this villa, the previous occupants had maintained her outside, and we continued to do that (our old cat would not accept a newcomer inside her territory). Sadly the outdoor cat suffers from a cat virus, and has trouble eating. I have had her treated by a vet, but there is no cure. But we do the best we can for her, letting her live in our laundry room, and feeding her good food.
Any way, Bobbi, living here in Muscat, Oman, is a bit of a shopping challenge. Special items, like diet food, tend to pop up only to disappear again, but we have a great supply of fresh food, fruit and vegs from the whole world, so I hope I can support the demands in the Sonoma Diet.
I enjoy reading all the postings from all you ladies, it will take me a while to catch on with the names and personalities.
Dollidot.
Just HAD to tell ya'll.....my GAZELLE has been shipped! YAYAYAYAY!!!!!! Should be here by Tuesday. God, I hope so.....I'm SO looking forward to it!
Dollidot....don't worry about having the store-bought stuff to eat on Sonoma....you're in the right place to have THE BEST to eat while living the Sonoma lifestyle!! It's all about lean meats, olive oil, whole grains, nuts, etc. I love to eat the Sonoma way....maybe too much! Portion control is the hard part!!! Wave One of Sonoma is basically lean meats and veggies with a few whole grains. I'll bet you're doing that without your book Then you can add in some fruit and more whole grains & wine on Wave 2.
Hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend...I'll be checking in to see what you're up to. HH is working & I'll be busy here getting my Gazelle Room ready for Tuesday. YAY!
Jill...Grand Cayman sounds wonderful! Can I go? Sun, beach and margaritas, you lucky gal!! I also love American Idol, Survivor and Dancing with the Stars. Hate it when all three are on at the same time. I watched Survivor, recored Idol and then watched the last hour of Dancing with the Stars last night. Glad to hear your gazelle is on the way.
Freda...Does the hot toddy come with rum? I could drink about four or five of them. LOL It would really warm me up and give me a nice warm buzz.
I thought about gastric bypass, but after a lot of research on the subject, decided it was not for me. Way too many complications.
Carla... Yeah on your 2 pounds. Turkey burger was a good choice, and nothing wrong with a few fries.
I'm feeling a little better today, my head still feels like it is in a nut cracker. My husband left for work yesterday and ended up at the doctors and then back home for two more days. Came home with a prescription that really knocks us out and takes care of the cough. I haven't eaten within my points for the last couple of days, only chicken soup and water. With my sore throat, nothing taste very good. To top it off, our furance quit working this morning and the repair man just got here, so I have been bundled up in a couple of blankets with my dog and cat. Hope he gets it up and running real soon.
Hello from Nova Scotia . . . The temperature warmed up to above freezing again and the pretty sparkles have melted off the tree branches again. I'd like to hope that Spring was almost here but I know it really isn't. We always get at least one nasty snowstorm at the beginning of April . . . and it isn't even March yet. But who really knows what will happen . . . things are so weird this year.
Bought myself a new scale today. Only time will tell if it is going to be as temperamental as the old one. so far I've gotten them to agree with each other on a number so that's a good start -- even though I don't like the number, but that isn't the fault of the scale. I looked at the new WW scale but then I bought one that has a slightly larger platform to stand on, but seems pretty much the same, other than that. I read somewhere that one of the reasons we human being have trouble getting a consistent weight is because we have difficulty standing still, so I thought maybe the wider stance might offer more stability.
Congrats to everyone who is doing so well with the exercise routines. I'm sure that will never be one of my strong suits, but I do try to keep moving more.
See you soon, gang. Hang in there and keep on doing the right things.
Surf~ Yes, we do have our own version of American Idol, Survivor, etc. We also get to see most of the american shows, but they are reruns. The American idol from last year is on right now, and I don't watch it 'cuz it's no longer exciting since I know who won. I love Oprah, and I watch her shows even tho' they are reruns. I also love David Letterman, and the shows we see are about a week old. Back home, I used to stay up late and watched The tonight show (Jhonny Carson) and then The Late show with David. We have The tonight show as well, but I'm not really a Jay Leno fan. We also have the soaps like Desperate Housewives, Alias, Joey, etc. However, we get to see sports live (thanks God) but then I have to be up the whole night if I want to watch it live, so I usually tape the games, except the Super Bowl of course~ I definitely have to see it live. By the way, all these programs are on pay Cable TV.
I'm sure you're excited to start working out with your personal trainer. That's great, she'll be able to show you how to exercise the proper way and avoid injuries.
More about my scale, it is so accurate that when you go to the bathroom~ you will see a weight lost!
Freda~ Those h.s. snacks doesn't seem to do much harm to your healthy way of living. I'm sooooo envious of you girl, size 6 When I get so hungry at night I just have to have a snack, otherwise I can't fall asleep. May I ask what was your highest weight? It looks like you're also doing some abdominal exercises, how do you do it with your chronic back pains? I would appreciate some tips, since I have shoulder pain which sometimes radiates to the neck if I put so much strain on my shoulders and arms. So I'm afraid to do abd. crunches, and boy I really need to do something with this "ABOMINALS" (coined by J.Fonda).
Jill~ Grand CaymanGood for you.
Go, go,, start working out now You still have time to lose some weight and look good in a bathing suit. And always keep in mind what is in your menu.
By the way guys, I saw a documentary program on TV about a woman in her 50's who lost a lot of weight in such a short time and she had so much loose skin that she needed to have surgery to cut away the skin and her scars looks horrible. She had huge scars on her abds, underarms, and inner thighs, and she claims that they hurt really bad and it's been almost 2 years since she had surgery. I didn't catch the beginning of the program so I don't know how much weight she have lost nor how fast. Anyone here knows, how much is considered "a lot of weight", and what is the rate of "fast weight lost" which will result in so much loose skin, especially in our age where skin elasticity is not so good anymore?
Have a great weekend everyone~

Hi, Ladies! Hope you're all enjoying the weekend and that those of you who've been sick are feeling much better. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back here. I've tried a couple of times and couldn't get in. Not sure if it was the time of day (busy Internet), the new server or my computer, but I'm here now.
I just recently got a new digital scale that's supposed to measure weight, body fat and water, but so far I've only measured weight on it. I like the idea of weighing three times and taking the average. I think I'll start doing that.
I also love "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars" and think this year's "Idol" is the best yet. There's so much talent in this group that I'm going to enjoy each and every show. This week I started bouncing on my Urban Rebounder during the many "Idol" commercials. Every little bit helps, and I haven't been too successful at making myself exercise lately. Something that helped was buddying up with a woman in an empowerment circle I'm a part of. We made a commitment to phone each other for the next two weeks and report on what type of exercise we did that day.
Jill, nice SIL inviting you to share her timeshare in Grand Cayman! It's beautiful there and should give you some extra encouragement to get on that Gazelle when it arrives. My Mexico vacation is only three weeks away as well. Some days I get so mad at myself that I've had all this time to get ready and now have only three weeks. But like someone else said, it's still enough time to make some changes. I'm really buckling down now as I want to improve my stamina as much as anything so I can hike up into the hills with my camera without feeling like I'm going to have heart failure.
Congrats to those of you who've lost weight this week. I lost and gained so am back to square one. Not giving up, though, and will just have to check in here more often to get motivated and inspired by you all.
It was awful to read about that barriatric surgery gone wrong. One of my best friends who lives in Texas is about to have the lapband surgery, which doesn't seem to be quite as serious. I'm still concerned about her -- more that she won't be able to change her ways and make it work in her favor than that something will go wrong with the surgery itself. She doesn't seem to have a lot of support from her husband, mother or local friends, so I'm trying to be there for her and also suggested that she check out this site.

Jill...how exciting! You'll have a great time and yes...you CAN do it...one day at a time! BTW, I'll be answering your messages over on the cruise board soon, I promise!!
Went to dinner w/hubby at one of our all time favorites in the city. Ate pretzel crusted chicken even though I knew I shouldn't. Hope I don't regret it tomorrow.
Don't usually go off South Beach, but it's been 7 weeks and I just didn't give a hoot! I've lost 13 pounds thus far and will get right back on track tomorrow. I've passed up many, many treats etc. at work and thought tonight I'd "splurge" a bit. Figuring I have to live and eat this way the rest of my life, might as well get something I truly enjoy once in a while.

I agree Susan, sometimes you need to splurge...just make it worth it! It's sounds wonderful BTW! Congrats on the weight loss, you're doing great!
Sorry, I missed being here yesterday. Can't honestly explain what happened. Suffice it to say that yesterday was not one of my better days. Mind you, when averaged in with the rest of the week, everything is still OK. I guess I do my own version of high/low calorie-cycling and as long as I average about 1600 daily in the course of a week, I feel pretty good. However, when I do have a heavier-eating day, my blood sugar suffers and that makes me feel a little crummy. Things are back to "normal" today. Whatever "normal" is?
Well, gang, I've got to go and catch up in a couple of other places I missed yesterday. Keep on moving forward everybody. See you soon
Busy week with newly adopted rescue dog which was NOT what he was portrayed to be health-wise. So sad, but he is with us in his "forever home" now and aint going nowhere. We love him and hope he has some time left in him.
(Jeers tho to rescue groups that fib in order to place an animal - we would have taken him anyway, but finding out the bad news from our vet really did suck.)
I'm on Day Twenty Six of Atkins Induction and have stayed true blue Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in and I hope I will have another couple pounds to report missing Well, we'll just see, right? I'm planning on continuing Induction through until March 15, and then review what I want to do at that point - meaning decide whether to stay on Induction or start on the adding 5 carbs a day thing - whatever that's called.
Hope all that were sick feel better now and those that weren't sick, stay that way!!
Well, today was my weekly weigh-in on Atkins Induction (Day 27) and I DIDN'T lose any weight this week!! Rats. I followed the program and didn't go off for anything, so who knows what happened.??
So my total so far of pounds lost is 6 - better than nothing (have to convince myself of that -hehe) Hopefully next week the scales will reflect the effort I'm continuing to make.
Looks like I'll have to stay on Induction for March too.
