Just a quick check in to say I loss 1.7 pounds for the week. Not too bad considering I was sick. I still feel puny. Wish I would hurry up and get some zip into my step.
Linda...March came in like a lion for us! We have had hail, sleet, freezing rain and now big snow flakes. When will the sun and warmth come to stay.
Where is everybody, today? I feel like I'm talking to myself . . . something I do a lot anyway.
I'm checking in tonight meowee, so you are not totally alone
My NMD thinks I should switch to the Rosedale diet while I'm waiting for this thyroid scan stuff at the end of the month. I can't take any supplements for 30 days in preparation for this scan. Supplements are kind of important on Atkins Induction, which is what I've been on for the past 29 days...
Has anyone had any experience with 'Rosedale'? I don't even know the first thing about it - she said I could borrow her copy of his book.
BTW, my new poopie-dog is doing SO well. I can't believe someone actually dumped him at the pound. And then his rescuers have fibbed about his age, etc. What a mess, but the bottom line - the day I found him and brought him home was the start of a great love affair
Sorry, Hy, I've never even heard of the Rosedale diet. But if you can't continue the supplements on Atkins, what else can you do? Is the second phase of Atkins any less reliant on supplements? At least I'm glad to hear the new dog is doing so well.
Congrats on your nice loss, Cheryl, and hopefully your March lion will tame to a little lamb for the rest of the month.
Just checking in while I can get in. It's really difficult sometimes! How's everyone doing? Congrats on the weight loss, Cheryl. Sorry to hear you're still feeling puny. I'm not so hot myself. Why is it that everything seems to hit you harder when you're older? I've been barely functional since I got sick. Living alone, that's sometimes scary, but tonight I feel things turning around for the better. Hoping to be as good as new by the weekend.Lost another pound! I know it's just from being sick, but I'll take it!Here in Chicagoland it was pretty nice today, but I saw where other parts of the country are getting nailed with nasty stuff. It came down as far as Wisconsin but never got to us -- at least not yet.Have heard of the Rosedale diet, Hy, but don't really know anything about it. I wish you well with it, though, if they're insisting you go off the Atkins Induction for now.I'm not 100% sure yet, but my goal is to get back on track with exercise tomorrow. I'm hoping that my appetite stays as low as it has been so I won't be tempted to eat more than necessary.Have a great day tomorrow, everyone! Time to go watch the Barbara Walters special.
The weather here in Michigan is kind of strange today. It looks like it's snowing outside but when it hits the ground it's hard! Kind of like little ice balls. We usually get a good ice storm in March, but i've never seen it look like this. Hope this means March came in like a lion so it can go out like a lamb!
I'm still not back on track! I have such a hard time getting back on when I fall off! Safer for me to just stay on!
Jill, I hope your Gazell got there on time and it's up and running! How are you doing with it? I have to agree with you about the pills. You start one thing and you have to take another to prevent some kind of symptom you get with the first. I'm not knocking pills, They are vital for a lot of things. But if I can prevent taking just one with diet and exercise, that's what i'll do!
Hy, Have you checked out the new diet yet? It's got to be comfusing to go from one you understand to another new one that you're just learning. Like, you are encouraged to eat the one thing you weren't allowed to eat last week. I think most diets work, it's just what can you stick to for the long run. Good luck! Did you ever tell us new doggie's name?
Meow, Thanks for the DUST! I think I need a lot! Your March sounds like ours!
Cheryl, For the 1.7 weight loss! Hope you're not still feeling PUNEY! That was what my grandma always called it when we weren't feeling well!
Curves, for the 1 lb loss! Take every pound you get! I hope you're feeling better and can get back to your
It's another really cold day, here. And sort of half-and-half with the sunshine, but at least it isn't snowing, yet.
Marsha . . . glad to hear you are on the mend. So many people both in my virtual world and in my real world are sick. Sounds like "ice Pellets", Freda. We get them a lot around this time of year. Sort of like miniature hail stones. Hope that's the worst you get hit with.
Had lunch at Swiss Chalet today and I'm pleased to say I avoided the fries, the coleslaw, the wonderful barbeque sauce and dessert. I had a half chicken and a side salad with diet dressing. I was so full of chicken, it made resisting dessert pretty easy. Now I don't know what to have for supper since I've used up all my protein allotment for the day. Brothy vegetable soup I guess.
Well, have a great evening everybody. Keep smiling.
Well I have just about slept the day away, but feel so much better tonight. Got my that I am finally over the bug. I plan on getting up early and getting some much needed exercise in.
Marsha... for your 1 pound loss.
Hy...Haven't heard of that diet, but I wish you luck with it. You've done great following the Atkins so faithfully. You deserve a pat on the back!!
Linda...We got about 4 inches of snow and more to come for the weekend. Our yard was almost clear of all the ice and snow and then we get another dose of the white stuff. Maybe a big wind will come in and blow the snow off the patio so I don't have to shovel. I can wish, can't I!

I did a LITTLE bit of research and I don't know about Rosedale right now. Just as you mentioned, if I do Rosedale, all of a sudden I'm going to be eating things I couldn't on Atkins. Honestly I feel like I've done OK with Atkins and I'm inclined to stay on it for now, just maybe add the 5g of carbs you start to do after Induction, and just do that early. Maybe like I mentioned before, in the form of a 1/2 c. of blueberries or the like, once a day.
And I know my doc is looking out for me, but I just think she has a bit of prejudice concerning Atkins because MOST people see the diet as just the Induction part and can't seem to comprehend that that is the FIRST part of the diet. She thinks the Rosedale is better balanced - and it is, compared to Induction, but eventually Atkins is balanced too. I'm probably making NO sense LOL!
Oh, I named my new dog Baxter - he is just amazing and he fit in from day one with all my other dogs and cats. I'm hoping and praying that with us he can have a little time (my vet said he has a serious heart murmur and that of course was not disclosed by the rescue people). He now appears happy and enegetic and I have him on a diet too - he's a bit overweight. I also started him on a vitamin and mineral cardiac supplement I've used successfully on another one of our dogs for 3 years now.
Great to see some losers here! I am still hanging in there at the same weight...which is good considering that I have NOT been sticking to my plan very well. Today is a new day tho.
Been busy the last few days....HH was off, so it was our "weekend". We wasted the first day with dentist appointments & errands, but spent yesterday riding our motorcycle over to Florida's west coast to a little town called Hernando Beach. Nice day! It was 82 and sunny....just like today. Glad to see that everyone is doing well and feeling better! That's Good News!
Hy....it sounds like Baxter is just a dream of a doggie and it's wonderful that his days will be lived out in your happy household. I agree with you that your doc is probably not in love with the idea of Atkins....but in my own experience, I lost a good amount of weight with it a few years ago and as a result, my BP & cholesterol were amazingly low. My doc was also amazed. 'Course, I also am not always sure that drs. are right! LOL Unfortunately, I didn't stick with the maintenance and gained all but a few pounds back. Half-assed attempts at it after that were not successful (duh!) and the cholesterol creeped back up. I'd do what you're comfortable with. Just stick with us to keep the weight off once you lose it!!!
Got our Gazelle.....got it put together in record time and our Gazelle Room looks great! Today was our first real day of using it on schedule....HH Gazelled before work and I did about 25 minutes after that. I plan on another 25 minutes or so later on. Gotta get ready for that Cayman trip!!! Also need to get my house stuff and packing done so I can log in a few pool hours prior to my trip on the 18th. BooHoo..it's a rough life, I know...but somebody has to do it!
Good Afternoon ladies, Hope everyone is having a good day. I am, so far. It's early yet! The snow/ice has finally stopped and the roads are clear. Not my sidewalk and driveway! And since it's ice you can't shovel it up! But the sun is out so hopefully it will melt.
What happened to all our posters? Jill, if you talk to Lisa tell her to come back and visit us if she isn't ready to make a dieting commitment yet!
Been real busy lately.
Just wanted to update my weight tracker
and say HI to everyone.
Need to pick up my DS and DGS.
Tomorrow I take my DGS to the zoo
while my DS gets some sleep.
Tomorrow night he starts a power
plant shutdown and will be working
12 on 12 off for almost 4 weeks.
He's gonna work his butt off but
will be grossing over 2 grand a week.
It's been awhile since I've posted. I hope everyone has been doing well. I was down with a nasty cold/cough for two weeks, and have had to play "catch up" at work! Sonoma is still the plan for me, although I did come up with a force greater than myself last Saturday and had THE most delicious brownies I've ever had (and I think I'm a pretty decent brownie baker). However, amazingly, once I went back to plan the sugar cravings disappeared...wish I could say the same for the mayonnaise cravings!
Wishing everyone a great weekend and continued success!!
My morning started out rotten . . . I couldn't seem to get full and was into a bad case of the munchies so I decided to escape into nap-land. Anyway, I woke up like it was a whole new day and things are going much better now.
So glad you are feeling better, Cheryl. It's so good of you to volunteer to suffer in the Caymans, Jill. The rest of (especially those of us living in the deep-freeze parts of the continent) really appreciate it. Wow, Hy, Baxter really lucked-in when he found you and I'm sure he appreciates it. Maybe you should talk to your doctor again. Maybe you can strike a deal if she understands about the second stage of Atkins. Glad your weather is improving a bit, Freda. The ice will eventually melt . . . hopefully before June. I can live with the snow, but I am truly terrified of those ice storms. Good for you for getting back on track, Laurie. I don't dare go near a brownie and can't remember one I didn't love.
After that final sentence, I think I need a double dose of tonight. Keep up the good stuff and beat down the bad stuff, gang.
What do you think about the idea of opening a new "thread-of-the-month" at the start of each month? I've seen this idea in a few places and it seems to keep things from getting quite so long but because it mentions the month, you can still look back for something if you want too?
