Good Afternoon All,

Reggie, sounds like you did really good at the Mexican Rest. honestly the ships and salsa are my biggest weakness. I can just eat those chips till the bowl is empty. No matter how strong I am I cannot resist those chips and salsa.

I actually did pretty good today. I got up walked two miles before church, had yogurt for breakfast with juice. Then went to the mall again needed to get son some new white dress shirts for work. Then went and got grocerys at Walmart, came home and had a LC Panini (the spinach, mushroom and chicken one) and a clementine. Speaking of clementines does anyone have any idea how many calories they are? They are certainly good and not near as messy as an orange. Tonight son and husband want pizza from a local place that makes them like thin crust chicago style and cuts the pizza in squares. I will order it in about 1 hour and 20 minutes and Tom will pick it up on his way home from work. They also make a great anti pasta salad that I will order for myself and use my own low calorie dressing and I will have one small square of pizza

Jill, you had mentioned about not liking to get dressed up while on a cruise. I guess that is what makes us all different and cruises line different. Tom and I actually love that part. What is funny before we got hooked on cruising we were sure that was the part we would hate especially Tom. Now it is the best part. We use to go to Kona Hawaii at least two times a year and could pack extremely light, swim suit, shorts and tank top and flip flops Now we like getting dresses up, Tom has a couple different Tux jackets and different style of shirts. He even has bow ties in different colors to coordinate with what I am wearing.

Ok I will try to explain what the new dresses look like. I thought about taking pictures and posting them but I will try to explain. Tom says I went out of the box on these. They are definitely not styles I have bought before. The one I plan to wear for the first formal night is a two piece Black Velvet Skirt and jacket. The skirt is long but is full at the bottom, I feel like a yong girl in it. The jacket is also balck with white satin collar and white satin cuffs on 3/4 length sleeves. Through out the jacket there are rhinestone diamond studs. It also has a rhinstone clasp that pulls the jacket together to the left side. The dress for semi fromal night is short, also black velvet in an A-line that is very slimming and also a size 12 P It also has a white satin collar and coffs but has a very low neckline. The dress is actually quite sexy Tom really liked it. The third which I will wear for the last formal night I bought because it matches a new nexklace. I collect Swarovksi Crystal and thru the Collectors Society they have this new necklace for member only.It is a crystal shell in a beautiful turquoise. The dress looks to be two piece with a jacket but is actually one piece. The top of the dress and jacket are the same of very sparkely turquoise over black, the bottom of the dress is black with a slit up the side. This dress is also low cut and rather tight fitting so even if I loose another 10 to 15 pounds it should fit.

OK I think I have typed enough and explained enough I will say with these new dresses it has made me even more excited for this cruise. I am also not as discouraged about not loosing enough weight because these dresses look really good. I even took a peak on the scale this morning and I was down another pound but won't count the offical till Thursday.

Below is a picture of the necklace if it is not too small.

Default Bad News for My Family

Chicks & Rooster....my Daddy died today. He would have been 80 soon. He was an amazing man who led an amazing life. How lucky I am to have been his daughter!

I hope I can stay on-plan this week. I feel like fixing a big crock of mashed potatoes or mac n' cheese.

Jill, I am so sorry Had he been ill? That is the one thing that I do not like about being our age. I have so many friends that their parents are starting to pass on. Both of my parents are still alive my Dad turned 81 in October and lives with his long time girlfirend who is 84. My Mom will be 80 this coming July and lives with her husband that is 18 years younger Both are in fairly good health but then I do not hear much from my Dad.

Being almost 80 means he loved a good long life and I am sure with lots of Happy Family memories. I will definitely say my prayers for you and your family. I know this will be a very hard week.

No actually he had a life of pretty good health! He had been not feeling quite up to par the past couple of weeks....but then he wasn't a complainer, so it might have been worse than he let on. I always prayed he would just lay down and not get up and my prayer was answered. I just wasn't ready for it, since my plan was to go see him on Wednesday. My Mom passed away about 18 years ago & he was married to Judy who has been a great traveling companion and wife for him. She found him when she arrived home this evening after a weekend at DisneyWorld with her daughter & grandkids.

He was a geologist who traveled the world and always took us with him. We lived and traveled in exotic places. He then became a teacher of middle school Earth Science when it was time for us to settle down & for me to go to jr. high. He then shared his incredible experiences with hundreds of kids who loved to hear his stories of working on the oil wells in Libya and diving in the hot springs of Central America to bring up Aztec & Mayan artifacts...many of which are in museums today.

He was a pretty cool guy!

Jill....I am so sorry to hear that your Dad passed. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. I wouldn't worry about staying on program this week, you will have enough to handle without worry about can or can you not eat something. We are hear for you.

Beth....So sorry to hear you are sick with the flu. Hope you start to feel better soon. That cough seems to hang on forever. I know you will be back to your old self soon.

Reggie....WOW, 3 lbs is great and 5 would be awesome! Youn did great at the Mexican restaurant. I would not of been able to pass on the chips and salsa unless they put me in a straight jacket.

Well gang, I had a pretty good day food wise, stayed within my points. I'm sorry to say I didn't get any exercise in today. Pretty hectic day, our foster daughter's cousin was killed in a car accident yesterday, I needed to take care of her not me.
I did step on the scales this morning before I took a shower, and it said I have lost a total of 10 lbs. I will weigh in for the Monday morning weigh-in tomorrow and then on Wednesday for WW.

Till later,

Cheryl

I've decided to try my best to stay on-plan...and will check in tomorrow with my weigh-in....although I think I will probably be disappointed. The only saving grace is that I FEEL slightly thinner, and my jeans say I am!!

Good morning every one,

Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! He shoulds like a remarkable man. My prayers are with you! Do what ever you have to do to just get trhough the week. Remember, we are here for you.

The dresses sound beautiful. You will look wonderful. And the necklace is so nice! I bet you can't wait to wear it.

Cheryl, Hope you drop a pound or two, but if you don't right now, you will! If your'e eating right and exercising the weight will come off. Patience is a virtue, but I'm not very patient!!! I'm with you, I want to see results for all the hard work.

But I have to report, I didn't lose.....AGAIN! These last 10 pounds are going to get the best of me! It's like a struggle to see who wins! But' it's goign to be ME! If it takes longer, it just takes longer. In the mean time i'm getting healthier and stronger!

When we get up in the morning we have a choice...we can decide to be unhappy and let everything bother us or we can decide it's a wonderful day and deal with it as if it is!!!

Decide to make it a good day! Freda

Default Good morning fellow losers

Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. The good thing is that he didn't suffer and from your description of his life and travels, he surely led a full life.

Well, now for the good news, I weighed in at 262 this AM so I hit my first goal of a 5 pound loss this first week back on track. I'm back on track now and if you're gonna keep up you better be prepared to commit to losing and enjoying life much more than you do now.

Remember, It is a heck of a lot harder to GET on track than it is to STAY on track. Since I'm on a low carb plan, it's even more important as every indescretion means 3 to 5 days to get back on track. It doesn't matter how you do it, just do it. Low carb, low fat, low calorie, whatever works,
JUST DO IT.

Reggie

Unhappy

Hi everyone - how lovely to find this thread for women in their 50s! Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about your father, it sounds like he had a good life and its especially nice that he had a daughter who cares so much.

I turned 50 this year and I'm really struggling to shift the weight this time. I'm tying to combine calorie counting with using the GI index which, in theory, is supposed to stop me feeling hungry.

I'm sure dieting gets harder as you get older.

Oh dear! Sorry Reggie - silly me! Its unusual (but nice) to meet a rooster amongst all the chicks on a diet forum.

Hi all and welcome Sarah!

I get to report a 1 1/2 pound loss for the week!

So now I've lost 7 pounds this year. I'm on my way down (or weigh down!) again.

Last night I was exercising with my new "Walk the Line" CD. The beat on that CD is perfect for walking in step or my dorky dance moves. The first song is "Get Rhythm" and I have never had any of that, but no one can see me. The idea is just to move more and eat less, right?

Have a great week everyone!

Gail
