Hi All, Am going to the gym even though I still have a bit of congestion and cough. I did some slow serious yoga stretches yesterday and am moving close to normal today. Sylvia wanted to wake up early, the cat puked and pooped which had to be cleaned up and DH had to go to work (I think that was the worst of it all-I get spoiled to him being here on the weekends). Moving forward - I will NOT be doing the Body Pump class, just cardio at the gym w/workout buddy Melissa.
Mel, So glad to hear NOT bad news. Good luck on the weigh in!
cindy, My nephew had asthma and a special humidifier (or something in the humidifier to kill bacteria?) really helped him. As a matter of fact 10 yrs later, he no longer has asthma per the doctors, out grew it! Good luck!
I signed up late for the Dump the Plump challenge. Need to feel pushed this week to start back even if I don't want to lol!
So everybody, keep trying to be healthier! Drink that water, eat only good food, work that body, and take 15 minutes every day to focus on you because you deserve it.
Hey, Hope everyone was okay today - if you had a rough one.
I went to the gym and did 20 min on treadmill and 20 min on bike. I feel 100% better and sound pretty hoarse. I am so glad I joined the challenge as that is what got me to the gym. I was paid back a hundred fold by having energy (ooohhh cindy - does it every keep you going bubblin' over ) to finish all the laundry YEAH! I drank 192 fl oz of water and am getting ready to have some more . I might have gotten a little dehydrated from this sinus infection. On the other hand, the ACV really kicks in the thirst. It's made my throat feel so much better too.
Stay with it everyone. You kept my spirits up when I felt like CR*P last week. Thank You!
I went to the gym tonight and walked on a 6.0 to 8.5 incline on the treadmill for 35 minutes and then did 10 min. on the recumbent bike. No weights tonight. My sister is going with me tomorrow night and I'll do them then. She's still tired from being up with Conner alot. He's still wheezing and all, but wired from all the meds.
So Mel, Ya gotta let us know what your weigh in was. I go to the clinic on Friday for my weigh in. I don't think its going to be very good. My weight hasn't changed much, but my body shape is a tad different. I must be just buildling some muscle or something. My eating has been horrible for the past few days. That's what I"m worried about. Don't know what's wrong with me.
Okay, I'll check back tomorrow. I'm gonna go relax in the bathtub and read my book. Tomorrow is a big homework day, so I think I deserve a little down time to get revved up for tomorrow.
Good morning ladies! I've been away from the board for a few days. I've also been away from exercising and eating right. No real good reason, just keep coming up with excuses. And I'm tired of it! I got up early this morning and got all my chores done before the Sir woke up, so I have no excuses today not to exercise during his naps.
Carafre: Your little ones are adorable! What a cute picture! Makes me nostalgic for snow.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Sorry for no personal responses, but I hear the little guy getting into trouble! Talk to you soon.
Good Afternoon All! Happy Valentines Day!! I hope everyone is having a great day!! What did the DH get for everyone? I am not sure what mine got for me yet, but i am sure its something fattening!!
Cara: Your babies, are sooooo cute!!! WOW that snow looks like fun!! I bet they had a blast!!
Cynthia: Do you need a kick in the butt?? Hmmm??? Don't stress it....we all have our off days!!
Nett: Yoga? Do you like doing Yoga??
Chris: Have you taken your measurements yet?? I bet your loosing inches!!
Mel: How did your weigh in go!! Stay tough!!
Well ladies i really can't make this too much longer, i need to go run a couple of errands before DH gets home, i will chat with you all soon. Have a great day!!
Alisha, I haven't taken my measurements yet. I guess it just hasn't occured to me. I should take some though and then I can compare them to my next set of measurements in a month or so.
Oh my gosh..I'm so mad. I had all my records for my husband's invoices done and just had a few more to enter and I got on my computer and the only month is on there is July. On my cd, the only month on there is December. Something went haywire when I saved it last time I guess. Now I'll have to pull everything and start all over again. Not my year is it????
I'm gonna die....I think I'll just stab myself in the foot and it will be less painful than having to do all that work over again. Kelly wanted me to have it done so we could get our taxes done. Oops, honey Slight delay!
Well better get back to figuring all this garbage out.
Cindy, Cara, Amanda, Hello hello. I'm did not go to my weigh in . TOM due and I was waiting a few days to see so I don't feel like gained any. Uh, it's so hard to do points when you are craving everything. I'm not doing too bad though. Ok, I'll check in later. I really haven't gotten much sleep and I'm beat..that's why I haven't been posting much.
Hey ladies! I'll be busy most of the day, but I thought I'd check in early and start out our inaugural Recipe Wednesday (or whatever it's called!).
This is a VERY simple recipe for those of you that don't get enough veggies. Yes, it includes olive oil, but you can control how much you drizzle on.
"Baked Vegetables
Use any or all of the following veggies: Broccoli, green onions, mushrooms, sweet red peppers, zucchini, cauliflower, baby carrots.
Line cookie sheet with foil. Wash veggies, then cut into pieces. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes (optional). Drizzle olive oil over everything. Toss to coat. Bake in 500-degree oven for 14 minutes. Serve over pasta or as a vegetable dish."
I love this way of preparing veggies, and often I'll make them and nothing else, when it's just me at dinner. I use cauliflower, broccoli, baby carrots, and mushrooms. Even the kids like veggies when I prepare them this way.
Talk to you soon! Can't wait to see others' recipes! Cindy
Alisha- Yoga is a God Send & am finding Belly Dancing Videos (Amazon.com is way cheap too ) to be the same relaxing, renewing and stretching.
Cara- You're my roll model right now so Be Tough!
Cindy- Veggies sound great and will have to try it on my DH (DD eats whatever he eats ). How are you doing on exercise? It is so worth it!
Chris - You poor baby! If you haven't went back in by folder, you might reopen the application (excel?) to use the most recent document or on the Start bar use the Document name as the information may be stored somewhere else? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! What is WATP? Just curious.
Mel- TOM just sucks. The oranges that someone was shouting about helped me through mine last week! Really took the edge of wanting chocolate (okay I caved one day but not too bad ). Good luck!
Wednesday Recipe: Not sure this qualifies (but this is what me and 13 month old Sylvia usually split for breakfast which keeps us both happy for about 3 hours and regular for the week )
Oatmeal (1 serving)
Blue Bunny Light 85 Blueberry Yogurt (half a container)
2 TBS of Toasted Wheat Germ
Quick - Curves yesterday, bike & abs tonight. new healthy eating plan starts tomorrow - wish me luck!!! Darn acl in knee is so sore. I took today off & bought an Ace bandage to take the edge off. It's nothing serious, just starts screamin' every now & then. I'll be better after I exercise tonight!! Tomorrow is my first official measure/compare day.!!!! I am so nervous.... Thinking Slimmin' thoughts ya'll!!
Nett, WATP is the Walk Away the Pounds dvds by Leslie Sansone. I just love her stuff. I will try your suggestions for retrieving all my stuff. I'm just miffed that it happened. Darn stuff!
Hi Mel...Hi Alisha, Cara, Cynthia...etc. Gotta go. Hubby is home for lunch and I"m really not getting any of my homework done sitting here bugging everyone else. TTFN.
Cara, great job on the workouts! I wish I could be as ambitious right now.
Nett, oooh shoot I forgot the recipe. This is a low point pasta dinner I made the other day. Each serving was only six points and it was enough for dinner.
Ingrediants: 1 TSP olive oil 3 points
Pam olive oil spray o points
1 can whole tomatoes (crush up with hands....wash first..lol)
1 zucchini squash sliced finely and then in half
1/3 of orange pepper chopped finely
1 large onion chopped
4 cups of either bow tie pasta or mezza rigatoni...or what ever pasta that yields 3/4 cup as a serving. 20 POInts
7 oz of shedded PART SKIM mozzerella. 14 POints
Directions. PRE HEAT OVEN 350 degrees while preparing.
in frying pan take oil and PAM spray and heat. Sautee' all veggie(except tomatoes) ONce they are good and done add the tomatoes and cook for about 10-15 minutes on low. You can add some salt and some Italian seasoning. This should be soupy!
While that's cooking boil water and cook pasta. DO NOT FULLY COOK IT> Leave it a bit aldente' sp?
Spray baking pan with Pam Olive oil spray.
Drain and add Pasta to pan.
Pour veggie mix over the top and mix in.
Add Mozzerella to top of Pasta and bake about 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
This will yield about 6 servings. the whole recipe came to 36-37 points. so it's only 6 points each....and it filled the plate. This is one of my home made recipes, so I hope you enjoy it. We really did!
Did I miss something??? What kind of recipes are we supposed to be posting?
I didn't get to go to the gym today but I did 40 mins on my sister's treadmill. 10 of that was jogging. OH MY GOSH! Thought I was gonna die.
Thought Tiana was gonna kick this but here we are in the evening and she looks so pale again. She's not running a fever anymore though, so I hope this is just the tail end of it all.
Hi All~ Be Strong We can do what ever we set our minds to do!
Jennifer- You still out there? Been thinking about you since you asked to join the same time I did. Hope you've had some good days only.
Amanda- You and yours still sick? Praying for you!
Cindy- Do you use fresh only or frozen veggies?
Alisha- You could check out on Amazon or E-Bay for any Yoga (don't do a Crunch or Firm or big name well maybe Kathy Smith) tape that's cheap. It really is good for you. An actual Yoga class is better because they will correct your form. Never do anything that hurts in Yoga. You're either doing the form wrong or the position is not for your body .
Chris- I asked about recipes last Wed so this week we are doing Recipe Wed? You can JOG on a treadmill!?!?! I am so jealous. That is Awesome! Praying for Tiana.
Mel- No meat in your recipe, so I'd have to do one on the side for DH. He is a MEAT is the MEAL type person, can eat 3 steaks and no veggies (veggies okay but not what his body wants-skinny man )
Cara- Good Luck on the Healthy Eating plan! What is it? I'm looking to start the 'Eating for Life' plan next week. Slimmin' thoughts pouring out at you!
1 box quick cook Couscous (prepared according to box directions)
thin slices of lowfat deli/lunchmeat
avacado, thinly sliced
red bell pepper, thinly sliced
on piece of plastic wrap, place 3-4 tbls of couscous, flatten out. Place 1-2 slices of lunchmeat falt on top of cc (couscous). Next put 1-2 slices of avacado/ & bellpepper in middle of cc. Slowly roll one side of couscous like a jelly roll, basically making a sushi roll. refrigerate one hour then slice in 1 inch sections & enjoy.
