Gooooood Morning PIC's Ladies, And another beautiful one it is :)

TEB~ Nice to see you back! I hope your schedule is a bit less hectic nowdays.

Hey Now MOM~ hi :) Still feelin good?

Yummmmmm Curley, that sounds so good. I think I'm going to cook that for dinner tonight, with a nice green salad. I tell ya gf, you seem to find the good recipes. and ya know what else? You have a great attitude. Seems anytime someone seems down, you cheer them on and (in my case), it's really helped.

Hey Jennie~ Don't dispair. You WILL hit that ONE soon... Giving up would be too easy. You can, and I'm sure you will do it! Go out there and do it for YOU! Rah Rah Rah :cheer:

Val~ How was Bella? I love having the beach so close... but on my days off and with gas so high I don't head to town unless I have several errands to do. 2 miles to the beach 'as the crow flies', but about 8 miles via the roads lol....

 Hi Sunshine... Good Job to you also. Your weight loss is awesome. I bet you feel so good.

AngelEyes~ Haven't seen you in a while.. is your friend still visiting? I'm hoping all is well with you.

Lisaaaaaaa~ Missin' you too Lady. Is everything ok?

L2L, jiquira, Turtle and all the rest of you P'sIC out there~ *Huggggsss* Hope we see you all soon.

Here's to all of us Ladies. We matter :grouphug:

petra65 11-09-2005 02:32 PM

Sunshine-good to see you again and great job.

Jennie-don't give up. That 200 lb thing can really do a number on your head. I have to keep reminding myself that my scale has no idea how much I weigh, it's just another number. You will do it.

I heard from Lisa-she's been sick. She said she would try to post later this week.

I think I offended Turtle. I tried to apologize but I don't think that went well either so hopefully eventually she'll find it in her heart to forgive me and come back. I get so gung ho sometimes, I guess I stick my foot in my big mouth.

jennie934 11-09-2005 03:52 PM

Hey Gals,
thanks for putting it in perspective. I think I do totally get hung up on a number or a goal, or an amount of time. I gave up on the setting a pound goal in however many days because I would always do worse rather than better. I should look at this as the same kind of thing. It really doesn't matter when I get under 200 because what matters is that I keep doing the right things and I'll get there and even further. I just havn't been that low since like ummm....10th grade or something. Well for a minute before college, I did Jenny Craig and was under but it didn't last long becuase I went away to school and gained it all back. urggg..not this time. Slow and steady.
thanks again,
jennie

Valerie Joy 11-09-2005 08:32 PM

Hi Everyone! I'm having a good day. I finally got myself to curves for a 45 minutes workout. We had BBQ chicken with steamed couliflower & a broccoli salad.

Jennie you're doing a great job. I bet you'll hit that one anyday now!

Sunshine congrats on your loss! :cp:

Dee.. Bela was great. He played with a drummer Zakir Hussain who I remember from my dead days :)

Curly I hop you're doing well today! I've been reading up more about the SBD. It seems very familar to the Zone diet. Do you count calories on SB?

I hope everyone has a great day! Keep up the good work ladies! :carrot:

Louie 11-09-2005 09:48 PM

GDay Partners !!

I think I have found a new routine.. eat dinner while I read the posts for the day.. makes me eat slower (which I have a real hard time with) and give me time off of studying to catch up with you all :D

Tonight the chef has served grilled steak with garlic and a lovely salad. No.. I don't have a chef, just a wonderful hubby that cooks all the meals in this house

Curly - your dinner sounds yummy. I always mean to write recipes down when someone posts them, but never seem to do it :?: and then can never find them again or forget about them... i should start myself a file !!

Jennie - you are sooooo close.. hang in there, you will be in onederland before you know it :cp:

Dee - I wish I could say my schedule has quieted down.... but no such luck. I actually just started reading an 800 page text book on Income Tax Principles ... now how's that for living !! We have a one day tutorial on the module in a couple of weeks, so lots of work to be done this weekend :(

Petra - thanks for the update on Turtle and Lisa.. I hope we see them both soon.

Valerie - good job on the workout :barbell: I bet you felt great afterwards.

Well I better finish my dinner and get to this reading. :dz:

Hope you all have a good day tomorrow and keep on keeping on :bubbles:

~ Teri

Curley~ that quiche was delicious! DId I do much damage tho- I didn't have nonfat mayo so I used about 1/4 C real mayo and 1/4 C lowfat cottage cheese. Oh and I added some chopped tomato and a little fresh spinach. I'm putting that recipe on my recipe page. (hehe when I get my recipe page done ;))

TEB~ Sorry hun, but that just doesn't sound like mind riveting reading material lol...
I have a small program for recipes so when I see one I like I just take a sec and cut & paste it into the program. Before that, I just had a recipe text file on my desktop I pasted to until I had time to deal with it.

Hiya Petra~ btw, thanks for all your great info and recipes too. I had to stop with the nuts tho lmao... they were just so good and I ate wayyyy too many. I know they were healthier than other things but still too many calories in for me. I'm looking for something to substitute for the butter. Any ideas?

Val~ good for you on making it to curves! HUGSSSSSSS to ya. Hey do you know if/how I can get video converted to mp3? I I don't necessarily need the video so I'm wanting my WATP to be on my MP3 player. Then I can do the workout just about anywhere. Anyways I'm not sure I can do it.... do you or Bing know?

Jennie~ *Pat on the back* Glad you're back in the drivers seat!

Everyone have a great OP day! :grouphug:

curlylocks 11-10-2005 06:40 AM

Dee: from what i have read.. its ok to have some fat in your diet... as long as you dont eat carbs with the fat at the same meal.. Researchers are finding out that all the low-fat hoopla wasnt so true!

they say u cant go crazy with it.. try to stick to the good fats.. but they also say that having some fat in your diet makes u feel "fuller" and keeps the hungers away..

Val: I do not count calories on south beach- but thats becuz i have been at this since March and i just rotate the same meals.. At first I used "fit day" which is an awesome Free program to record my food... and i have only south beach "legal" foods in my house lol

ok heres a healthy lil treat for ya:

1 box sugar free jello
1 box sugar free instant pudding (vanilla)
@1 cup sugar free cool whip

Make the jello according to the directions... let it sit for @ 10 min
then sprinkle in the pudding powder
mix it in well using a mixer or a whisk...
add the cool whip and mix in also...

then put it in the fridge till it sets up

this has 1 WW point per cup

Good morning ladies. TOM has come to my house. Oh joy! We had a thunderstorm last night too, so I had two dogs in my bed instead of just the usual one.

I read Dr. Phil's 6th key last night which was on exercise. I may have to read the chapter a few more times. I struggle with that one a bit. He makes a couple suggestions--one is making it a regular appointment in your schedule like a doctor's appointment (that one might work for me). The other is making something else contingent on it. You know how you don't let the kids watch TV or play video games until after they do their homework--that idea. Although I use this concept for other things in my life, I'm not sure I could do it with exercise.

Curly-I got Sugar Buster because you said you liked it so much. Jonny didn't like this book but I tried to have an open mind. I didn't read it cover to cover but I did read enough to get the general idea. Jonny gave it 2 stars. I think I would have given it 3. I think it does not provide enough scientific information. Protein Power goes overboard in this department, this book is really lacking. What they do provide is heavily borrowed from Barry Sears who they don't credit and if I thought South Beach wasn't structured enough, this diet takes unstructed to a new level. They simply give a list of allowed an unallowed foods and say "go to it." The reason I give them an extra star is they have a chapter on obesity in kids which is a topic that is overlooked by most authors. That's my 2 cents.

Dee-I weigh out my nuts and put them in individual little snack bags so I know how much I am eating. I suppose you could probably substitute canola oil for the butter but it might change the taste a little.

Teri-have fun with that textbook.

Well, I better get myself to work. TTYL.

curlylocks 11-10-2005 07:56 AM

i liked the ideas they had for getting rid of the sugar... the diet plan i thought was lame also... but u can always gather bits and pieces of info and use some and pitch the rest! lol

i preferred "protein power" Can anyone post the AMR formula from Jillian's book for me .. I 4got to jot it down and i've turned my book back in?

I think South Beach phase 2. is a good plan.. you are correct that it doesnt have much structure.. but I think its a good "for Life" plan .. becuz you could eat according to phase 2 forever.. I do think you have to keep an eye on your fat grams in SB to lose.

But if you can take the SB concepts and borrow ideas from the other plans .. you can structure it for yourself..

Tho i have to say I have read a lot of articles about people using south beach and hitting a wall where they dont lose.. they dont gain but they also arent losing.. but i don't know if thats becuz they slack up on watching what they eat.. are eating too many SB legal foods or have just enterd a "plateau" ( lol make any sense?)

Just wanted to pop in say hi to all. I have had the flu, and the gal that went missing from Wisconsin is my supervisors neice and godchild. There was a press conference saying they found 'remains of bone and teeth' and proof of incineration. It is absolutely horrific that someone can do that to another human being. I am so absolutely disgusted. At the same time, I am afraid. That could happen to anywhere, anywhere.

People always laugh at me because I'm almost 31 and still call my mom or dad, or email them with my itinerary for the day, which buses I take around the city, call during layovers, etc.

I just pray and cry, and pray and cry.

I will post later them I have more time.

Love & Hugs to all

Love & Hugs to all.

L2L - hope you are feeling better soon :grouphug: what a tragedy, and unfortunately one that happens much to often. Do take care of yourself !!

Petra - I know what it is like to sleep with my little Kobe, I can't imagine sleeping with two the size that yours are.. they must have kept you warm !!

Curly - you and Petra have a wealth of information.. glad that you are both here helping us out !

I had my first sneak peek at the scale this morning and it is looking good :carrot: I am going to have my official WI on Monday morning so I hope to be posting as a big loser !!

Hubby made a nice halibut with lemon and dill and a salad for dinner.. yummy.. I think I will keep him around ;)

Well that's it for me, I will be stuck at my desk studying this weekend so I will be sure to check in.

Take care and TTYS
