turkey take off results
Good Morning Pic Divas!
Well my total for the thanksgiving challenge was 5 lbs lost.. Think i am going to set my goal for the "santa slim down" at 7 lbs.. i really wanted to be 220 by new years but i dont see any "healthy" way i can make that goal.. unless i can go to the biggest loser ranch! lol But slow and steady.. I know I can continue eating the way i am now for ever... so that is a much better accomplishment than losing very quickly and having the weight come back.. I really shouldnt be unhappy with a 1.25 lb per week loss...this past month.. but i guess we all want the weight to be gone quickly... and i just have to have patience... we are getting off work at 1 today!! think i will head to the library & go work out then.. have a great day!!! |
Good Morning PIC Diva's!!!
Curly.....Great job on the weight loss!! You did well on the turkey takeoff. I just want to mention that...everytime you post.....you're neon flashing flowers look soooo awesome!!! quite blinding actually!! :D Zoey....Enjoy your visit with your daughter and grandkids. You know, its quite okay for Grandma to have a timeout locked in the bathroom!!! :lol3: Iwmonn......The no pudge mixes are great!! Not sure of the label details, but when I was doing ww's.....it was great!! A little pricey though......In the spirit of Thanksgiving, if you take a chocolate cake mix and add a can of plain pumpkin....they make great muffins!!! (also low in pts) Congratulations on the 3 lbs!!! nekkid or otherwise Valerie......Good luck with your Thanksgiving feast. I would stay clear of all the snack-y things, and either chew gum or busy yourself with talking/socializing with all your family. Stay away from the table until its time to eat. Why is it we all get worked up about food we can't have?We should focus on what we CAN have .....Thanksgiving is just ONE DAY!!!.....lets not slide back with a gain. Since its just the 4 of us (as we have no relatives living here in the States), I plan on eating early about 3:30pm. Then when we are done, we'll all go for a nice walk before it gets too dark. A little unusual for me, but I bought a strawberry rhubarb no sugar added pie. Thought I'd treat dh....not a big pumpkin pie fan. We'll see, its still high in carbs/natural sugar, but a small wedge might be nice to try. I'll also make some sf jello which is MY FAVE. Oh....I forgot......to end the turkey challenge, :cheer: I lost another 2 lbs!!! :carrot: That puts my total for this challenge at 4 lbs, not bad since I'm still coughing like a fool. I just can't shake this thing!!! |

Hey Ladies,
well thanksgiving planning is in effect. I am covering the apps so, I decided to do the normal that everyone loves, my dad's cheeseball(can't say I've ever even tried it, I'm not a big cheese eater), shrimp, and I'm adding foods I can eat, a corn and bean salad, home made corn tortillas, and veggies with hummus. so I'll have some safe muchies. for the meal, my dad is going to add sweet potatoes that don't have stuff added to them, and I"m doing a chop salad. We always have green veggies, and fresh cranberry salad. So the only thing I won't eat will be the stuffing, and the mashed potatoes. I am allowing my self a small piece of pie, my dad makes about 5 kinds of pie and cheescake or poundcake. OMG!!! I know I'll be depriving myself if I don't have a small slice and then chanace a binge. So that is the plan, I will report back on Friday :drill: heehee I started the Jillian workout circits today. I had been getting up and jogging when I was staying at my sisters but now that I"m at my house alone, I can't get out and leave my son in the house. So all week I was like I'll get up and do step or tae bo or somthing but it didn't happen. This morning I got up and did the first weight training circit. hopefully I won't be to sore for the holidays. is anyone else still doing these. I remeber a few of you were. OK, got to get bakc to work. Have a great thanksgiving! |
Im making the dreamcicle pie (from sugar free jello,ff cool whip & ff cream cheese) and a chocolate pie (sugar free pudding, ff cream cheese, cool whip) with Petra's crust to take for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow...

Curly~ Slow & Steady! Yup that's the ticket. Just LOOK at all that you have already accomplished. You are awesome Lady! AngelEyes~ Great job on your turkey takeoff losses. YOu Rock too! YOu are so right about obsessing on the can't have foods instead of the cans.... I never really thought about it much, but now I'm going to make an effort to. thanks :dizzy: Jennie~ Sounds like you're covering your bases for the celebration too! And dad's gonna help out too. That's awesome. Good luck with the Jillian training. You'll be getting into the swing of things soon I'm sure. Oh, and you are Mahhhvalous! :cp: LisaWY~ How are you? Hi PIC's!
Another gloomy blah day here in chicago. This weather really gets me down. I need to move someplace thats sunny all the time! I just finished giving my cat his antibiotics. He's a fighter. I used a towel this time. He's shooting me dirty looks now. Curly congrats on the loss!! :carrot: I think you're doing great! I only lost one pound last week. It seems my losses are slowing down too. But hey! One pound a week is awsome! It may take longer but you're doing it! :carrot: I bet we're both going to hit ONEderland around the same time! I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving! I can't believe this sight is closing down tomorrow. Right when I feel like I need the most support. |
awwww val, what's up with the kitty and the antibiotics??? LOL I remember Lee & I trying to give Annie meds... she's little, but she's a fighter. Poor Lee had scratches all over his arms. I should be home from work by 1'ish (Pacific time) tomorrow. Feel free to msg me if ya need to. That goes for any of you.... if you need an ear, anytime... I'm iwmonn on msn or yahoo.

It has gotten really cold here all of a sudden too. No snow yet but I don't think it will be long.
I have my pumpkin cheesecake done. No crust because of my Dad's nut allergies. I was debating on what veggie I was going to make. I was between zucchini latkes and chili rellenos casserole. Well, the zucchini didn't look very good at the grocery store so that made my decision for me. I'll have to do that tomorrow morning. I'll see if I have enough time and energy to make another pecan pie too. Obviously, my Dad won't be sampling that. Two of my cousins are diabetic (one with type I and one with type II) so there will be others who will be grateful for sugarfree and low carb options. Everyone have a good Turkey day! |
Dee.. I have two old cats.. 16 and 14 and they both keep getting sick. The vet says they carry virusus all their lives and just have a worse imune system when they get older. Iko the cat who is getting medicine is 18 pounds! At least it's only going to be a few more days.
Petra what is the chili rellenos casserole? It sounds yummy! |
What a nice surprize!!!....the site is up and running!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING PIC'S!!!:thanks1: Valerie....I can relate to the older cat issue. My cat is 18.5 yo !!! She is in pretty good health although a few years ago she started to lose weight. She only weighs 5.5 lbs now! For the last 2 yrs she has to take a blood pressure pill (1/4 tab) and her one treat is that I put it in a small amount of cheez wiz. Yeah I know.... but its the only little treat that she gets and I can't pinch her jaw and throw the pill down as the vet suggests. Does everyone have plans for today? My turkey is almost in the oven...well would be if I wasn't popping in here!! hehe:D Dh is playing air hockey with the boys and by 8 am I'd already been to the gym and back. Ds was just waking up!! This is the first time that my gym has opened and I wanted to take advantage of it in case they do it again. Mind you, 7-9 am was so convenient, but none the less it was busy. Hope everyone enjoys their.... cheesecakes :cheese:, pies, dreamsicle cake, sweet potatoe and marshmallow goop :nono: , green bean casserole, carrots, :carrot: stuffing, mashed potatoes, chilli releanos casserole, brussel sprouts.....ETC ETC ETC ETC...... YUM YUM!!! Just remember....tommorow is another day with lots of left overs!!! :hungry: |
gobble gobble Ladies,
Hi, I sure hope you all had a wonderful day. The store was busy today- No surprises there lol, it's always swamped on a holiday with those "OMG I forgot the creamer whatamIgonnado" people. I actually enjoy working the holiday mornings. People are usually always happy and ecstatic that someplace is open! BUT.... as I was leaving the store, I got in one of those WTF frame of minds and got 2 bags of chips and a small bag of special chocolates. I gave the candy to Lee cuz they are his favorites but I proceeded to eat about the equivalent of a full bag of potato chips. Now I have confirmed it. I can't eat just one when it comes to chips. Best to just stay away from them. Dinner was nice. Uncomplicated. Turkey and roasted veggies(sweet potatoes, acorn squash, carrots, onion, radishes). Ya know I've never cooked sweet potatoes before. They will become a regular part of my diet from now on. LOL. As I'm writing this, I'm having a bit of the chocolate mousse'ish stuff that curly posted. So not my most shining moment, but not the worst day of my life either. I'm blessed to have my home, animals, my mostly wonderful man and my health.... Those chips were my lesson for today. We'll see you all tomorrow sometime I hope. :grouphug: Much Love, D~ |
I did ok today!
I had just turkey and a 1/2 a cup of stuffing & salad for dinner. I avoided the mashed potatoes, candied yams, cranberry sauce, biscuits, chips and dip & pumpking pie! I'm pretty happy with myself. I was pratically drooling over the chips that my uncle brought when I was putting them in a bowl. Dee I'm like you I know I can't just have one! I did eat one of those beef sticks my uncle brought over. 20% of daily fat in just one! I hope everyone had a good holiday! |
the day after..
hi guys..
since we had dinner @ 3 i had eaten a light breakfast 1 slice canadian bacon & an egg hope everyone had a nice turkey day.. I did so so at staying OP.. i had turkey, lots of kale, a baked sweet potato, maybe a tablespoon of stuffing and made it thru dinner fine.. then after dinner went for a walk... then came back to my mom's @ 6 pm and thats when i got in trouble and had a slice of apple spice cake with caramel sauce on the top of it ..so sweet it would make your teeth hurt! geez i made it thru dinner and all day then messed up.. OH well not gonna beat myself up about.. Today is a new day..and i could have done even worse! so i'll be glad i made wise choices at dinner... evenif i did give in to the cake!! sigh... i have to work today :( |
Glad to hear everyone survived Turkey day. I was actually quite pleased with myself. I really didn't feel deprived either much to my surprise. My chili rellenos casserole turned out to be a hit and so were my sugar free desserts-especially with my 14 year old cousin who is a type I diabetic. All the cousins who hadn't seen me since last year were stunned at how much weight I had lost and wanted to know what I was doing. This particular set of cousins are all seriously overweight. Of course, I went over my carbs for the day-I wasn't even going to try to count but then I decided to try. It came out to about 51(my limit is 40) but I had 2300 calories!! I'm almost afraid to get on the scale this morning.
Dee-it took me 20 years to learn that I am addicted to sugar! What kind of an idiot am I? All these years struggling with my weight and I couldn't figure out that was what kept screwing me up? You learned an important lesson yesterday. Don't even bring them in the house. Valerie-Chili Rellenos casserole has Poblano peppers, salsa, cheese, eggs, and cream. A little spicy but not overpowering. Sort of bites you back which is just how I like it. I think I might get brave and try to do a little shopping today. I took the day off. |
im reading the zone cook book>> this is a good reminder:
carbs grow in the ground and protein moves around also they say to imagine your plate divided into thirds> 1 third is for your protein (chicken, fish,)... the other 2 thirds are for your veggies check this page out its free to join drsears.com |
