Morning all. Nothing much to report from my neck of the woods.
Patty - A jackpot would have made for a nice Father's Day for your dad. We have a new casino the next suburb over from us, and a couple friends and I are probably going there this Friday because they have live entertainment and a band we like is going to be playing. Not sure I'll do any gambling though. Re the book "Fifty Shades...", I finished the first one (it's a trilogy). Not very well written, but yes, dominance/submission and bondage are part of the storyline. I started the 2nd book, but I've kind of lost interest because it'll probably just be more of the same.
Happy - Hope your computer is back to normal. Yesterday morning I was receiving external e-mails that were sent the previous day...it got rectified quickly. It's always something. Sounds like you had a nice light show the other night. Neither bf or I are big fans of storms like that ever since lightning caused a tree down the block to explode (literally), and of course since that really bad storm last year that left doggy with bad anxiety during thunderstorms. We had a kiddie pool for doggy that he didn't like at all, so we ended up craigslisting it. We'll probably buy one of those cooling mats for him this week. Gosh, I'd have thought you'd have more farmstands up there, but that's the North Woods, not farmland now that I think about it. I was tempted by the strawberries at the farmers market, but we already have a bunch of cherries we need to use, and I try to limit the amount of food that'll go bad on us. We might make some cherry ice cream with them. Yum, cherry vanilla ice cream!!
Mel - Glad Happy had your wheels for you! Sounds like you're working through your issues with leaving the building work alone and people leaving you alone!! Re Richie's calls - you know he just cares about you. Take it with a grain of salt, but it's not too many times a day is it??
Ceejay - Glad the queasiness went away. It is almost a given that I'll fall asleep if I recline all the way back in it, lol.
Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies. Hope you're having a good week.

Windy as heck yesterday and again today. Hot today too. The veg patch looked good last night (perky not droopy), but I watered it anyway because I figured the wind would dry it out more quickly. This year I didn't put the plastic fencing around it - I hope the critters don't get in there and feast. Not that I've got anything to feast on yet...
I'm back but witohut much to say. The plant has been keeping me busy. It's almost as if we are in the midst of summer with all the water usage.
Happy
I hadn't thought about ginger ale. Think the cross made by lightning was something to see. I'm respectful of lightening and wind.
Laura
It's been hot here too. Luckily I don't have to be outside to much. If the lawn has not been mowed I may do that. I don't really want to deal with the pollen as my allergies seem to be under control.
Mel
Yes, it always the ones you lest expect to do most of the grumbling.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.
THESE FLOWERS REMIND ME OF THE 60'S AND HIPPIES.
I WOKE AT 5:30 AND COULDN'T GO BACK TO SLEEP.
CANNOT WAIT TILL THIS DAY IS OVER WITH.
THE INSOECTION ROUND BEGINS AROUND 9
BUT I NEED TO GET A REPORT DOWN THERE BEFORE THIS GUY GETS HERE.
ALARMS WERE GOING OFF ONE AFTER ANOTHER LAST NIGHT.
FINALLY A SUPERVISOR THERE CALLED ME DIRECTLY FOR AN ANSWER.
I TOLD THEM INSPECTIONS WERE TOMORROW AND EVERYONE WAS MAKING SURE THEIR PULL CORDS WERE UNWOUND AND HANGING DOWN THE WAY THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE INSTEAD OF TAPED UP ON THE WALL AND HIDING BEHIND A PICTURE.
NEITHER THE COPS NOR THE SUPERVISOR FOUND ANY HUMOR IN THIS.
INSTEAD OF A LETTER TO THE TENANTS TELLING THEM WHAT TO DO....
THE OFFICE SHOULD HAVE SENT A MAINT. MAN AROUND LIKE JOHN DID IN THE PAST.
THE LAST ALARM WAS ABOUT 11PM!!!
OK LADIES OF THE WORLD....GOTTA GET GOING.
HAVE A SUPER DAY
CEEJAY....I SEE YOU'RE ALREADY THINKING OF A NEW TRIP!
YOU'LL BECOME A GYPSY WITH ALL THESE RELATIVES CLOSE BY.
WELL....AT LEAST WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE.
I BET THE WATER BILLS ARE GOING UP BY THE MINUTE WITH POOLS AND LAWNS!!
SUMMER IS HERE!!
HOPE YOUR TUMMY IS FEELING MUCH BETTER TODAY
LAURA.......DOES COAL LIKE ANYTHING GROWING IN THE GARDEN??
WAS WONDERING IF DOGS EAT TOMATOES AND STUFF.
HOW IS THE SHOULDER DOING??
I HAD A PAIN IN MY NECK /SHOULDER AND THOUGHT OF YOU LAST NIGHT!
FEEL BETTER SOON
I've got to make this quick. On Monday, my car started making this awful noise...so I tried to explain it to DH over the phone while he's in Missouri. He said I should take it into the shop first thing Tuesday morning. The shop confirmed DH's worries. It's the transmission. Then DH and I spent yesterday (1) trying to figure out how we were going to come up with the $2K (or so) to fix it; or should we look into trying to get financing for a new car. DH said the engine in my car still runs great, and we agreed we don't want car payments right now...so we decided to fix it. I'm dropping it off today and hopefully they can get the new tranny quickly. In the meantime, I start the new job tomorrow...so I'm renting a car. DH will be home this weekend, but will be working all over the state next week, so we really can't start carpooling until the first week of July. What a bunch of stress and expense that I did not need.
So I've got a busy day today, dropping the car off, getting the rental, going to the bank to transfer money around, and other errands before I start my new job tomorrow.
I'll try and check back in later. I hope you all are doing okay. Mel, I hope the inspections go well.
Mel
Inspections. Kinda funny about all the alarms going off but it sounds like the seniors are trying to do their part. Hope you get some rest today.
Michelle
Ouch on the car repairs. Hope they have a transmission and they can do the rapairs.

My neighbor was sitting in her swing last night when I came home from work and decided I'd join her. She told me about the kids setting the ditch on fire. The fire truck had to be called. That does it for me. I was backing out of the drive way this morning and one started to cut through the yard. I rolled down the window and politely told him not to go through the yard anymore. He said yes maam but I'll have to tell him again. I asked my neighbor where was when this happened. She said at work that it was around noon. I did hear the fire truck go by the plant but didn't think to much about it. I've had it with these kiddo's. Where are their parents. Probably most of them are single parents with no extra pay for baby sitters.
Ceejay - We're already having the summer heat, so the water and AC usage are already in high gear. I didn't like the electric bill I opened yesterday.
Mel - Good luck with the inspection!! Sorry I had to laugh about the alarms going off because everyone was getting ready for the reinspections!! Meant to tell you that I liked that bird photo you posted the other day. You know, I could take it the wrong way when you say you had a pain in the neck and though of me, LOL. But I won't. My shoulder is still not back to normal, and I have some soreness in my bicep as well... This coming Tuesday will be two weeks and if it's not significantly better by then, I guess I'll go to the doctor. For now, trying to remember to take Aleve.
Hi Shad!
Michelle - What a horrible time for your transmission to go - aarrgh!!! Like you didn't have enough going on already... So your start date on your new job moved up - wow, no break at all between jobs, not even a weekend?!?! Good luck to you! Safe travels to dh. Will the carpooling w/ dh be a regular thing for you? What a moneysaver that could be!!
Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies!

Hump day today! Boss and the sr mgr were out yesterday and are out again today, so it's quiet. Hot and windy again today. Tomorrow we get a brief break and get out of the 90's.
Last night after work, bf and I went to dinner (taqueria for carnitas tacos), and then to the bike shop. I bought a new bike helmet since my old one was very old and who knows if the foam and shell were still gonna protect my noggin if I took a spill, and the fabric inside that made up part of the strap system was all decrepit. My new one is blue and silver and will look nice with my silver bike, and it has a visor, which I wanted. I just wish it had a silver or gray visor to blend in with the helmet better. Oh well, I won't have to look at it because I'll be wearing it, so no big deal.
When we got home I tackled part of my mail basket. Ugh. That's about all that's going on with me.
LOTS OF HEAT AND SOOTY SUNSHINE TODAY.
I AM NOT GOING DOWNSTAIRS TODAY AT ALL.
NEED TO KEEP MY APT COLD AND DARKISH TODAY.
tOLD THE SENIORS TO COME HERE IF SOMETHING IS WRONG.
I WILL NOT BE PERUSING THE PERIMITER IN THIS HEAT
THE INSPECTION WENT WELL SO WE THINK.
IT TAKES A FEW DAYS TO GET THE REPORT.
THIS GUY WAS TIGHT-LIPPED ABOUT EVERYTHING.
THANK GD THIS IS OVER. BUT I FEAR NO ONE LEARNED THEIR LESSON.
I HAD A NICE VISIT WITH RICHIE. HE HELPED ME TAKE OFF THE BR DOOR.
WE SET THINGS BACK TO THE WAY THEY WERE
I HAD FORGOTTEN THE DOOR WAS THERE & RAN INTO IT HEAD ON IN THE DARK.
NOTHING NEW HERE FOR ME.
JEN & KIDS ARE FINE.
THE POOL UP THERE OPENED 2 WEEKS EARLY.
RICHIE IS DYHING OF THE HEAT AT WORK.
YOU CAN IMAGINE BROOKLYN WITH NO A/C
I AM OFF TO BREAKFAST. WOKE UP HUNGRY FOR A CHANGE.
HAVE A GREAT DAY AND STAY COOL!!!
SHAD.....YOU CAN BE CHATTY WHENEVER YOU WANT....
I THINK YOU HAD THE CATTLE PROD LAST SO I'LL BE POLITE
CEEJAY....SADLY ALL THESE WORKING PARENTS HAVE LOST CONTROL OVER THE KIDS.
IT'S A TOUGH SITUATION. FAMILIES MOSTLY NEED BOTH PARENTS WORKING FULL TIME.
WHILE I WANT TO SMACK THE KIDS HERE...THEY JUST HAVEN'T LEARNED ANY RESPECT FOR PEOPLE & PROPERTY.
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE FIRE PROBLEM. SCARY.
JUST BE CAREFUL HANDLING THESE KIDS...
YOU DON'T WANT THEM WRECKING YOUR CAR OR ANYTHING EITHER.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL
LAURA....I HAD A LAUGH AT YOUR POST
NEVER THOUGHT WHILE TYPING THE PAIN IN THE NECK HOW IT WOULD SOUND TOO FUNNY!!
BUT YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU
THE BIKE HELMET IS VERY FANCY! WOW!
THINGS HAVE SURE CHANGED SINCE THEY FIRST CAME OUT.
VERY NICE AND I LIKE THE COLORS. HAPPY RIDING!!
TAKE THOSE ALEVE OR GET THY BUNS TO A DR IF IT'S NOT WORKING!!!!
DON'T MAKE ME COME OUT THERE IN ALL THIS HEAT JUST TO YELL:rollpin:
I'm still awaiting for the news of the birth of my sister's grandson. My niece went into labor early yesterday morning. Her due date is the 24th.
We have a safety luncheon around 11.15 this morning. This is for each department that didn't report any accidents.
Morning all. Wow, quiet here. Everyone's busy. Nothing new with me. The boss and sr. mgr are back in the office. Thursday already??!!
It was hot yesterday and I was really warm by the time I got home from the train station - so glad I didn't have to walk! After that I only went outside once, to the backyard to water the veg & flowers. The rest of the night bf & I watched more of "The Good Wife" since he'd gotten the season 1 dvds back from the library. We're almost done with it now. We'll have to reserve season 2. Dinner was a big bowl of homemade popcorn.
Ceejay - Things are really escalating with those neighborhood kids. With all the dry weather and the wildfires going on in this country, that's a scary thing. Be careful!
Mel - I hope the inspection report comes out good and it's all over until the next regularly scheduled one. I don't like to be cooped up inside, but with the heat and the wind I haven't been spending much time outside this week. It does play havoc with my allergies and asthma, as I'm sure it does with yours. I can't imagine doing physical labor out in that kind of heat! Poor Richie! Take care and have a nice restful day after all the hubub of yesterday. Oh, you asked if Coal would go after my veg plants. No, but he'd probably stomp and flatten them if he wanted to be where they were for some reason. He loves walking through the beds of daylilies, but they are indestructible, so I don't mind that. Reminds me, I need to get the tomato cages on all those plants before they get too large and the next thing I know they'll be flopping all over. And they'll stop Coal from running roughshod over them, LOL.
Happy - are you off with dh forging new ATV trails?
Ellen - hope you're through with appointments for the time being - how is your mother doing after the surgery??
Shad - I hope your sessions are going well.
Michelle - Today's your first day of the new job - hope it's going well for you. You said it's a smaller company - how many people are there in your department? When will your car repair be completed? Don't get too attached to that rental car, haha.
Hellos to Patty & Mary.

Just thinking of Michelle's car trouble and my battery issue a few weeks ago, I believe I'm going to sign back up with the auto club. I dropped them because I thought my auto coverage included something similar, but it was really just that they would reimburse me for emergency roadside assistance. What I really want is the service - phoning someone and having them find and dispatch the tow truck to jump start a battery, fix a flat, etc. Have to add that to the to-do list.
Okay, I'm being a horrible slacker at the moment, so let me post this and get on with the day. Toodles!

Good morning ladies,
Had a very soggy 2 days here with lots and lots of rain storms. Duluth Minnesota which is about an hour and a half north of us got really clobbered. The city sits on a hill and they got over 10 inches of rain in 2 days. Mass flooding, sink holes big enough to swallow cars all over the city. Looks like it sustained an earthquake. Alot of damage. The zoo really suffered, apparently it sits next to a river and when the flash floods came up unexpectedly a number of animals escaped their enclosure and sadly one area of barnyard animals died. People are blaming the zoo for not planning ahead but I saw on the news that this came up fast and the last time they got this much rain in one period was 1909 and it was only 6 inches of rain, not the 10 that they got this time around. In any event, our power was flickering and things were a mess so I limited my time on the computer. We could use a few days of drying now.
DH just came in from some errands and he wants to discuss replacing the trellis we had for the beans so I need to go talk to him before he starts a fuss. Sorry...
Hello Worldlies! I am still here, had a busy weekend with work then a few days with the kids and we saw mom yesterday. The kids are going stir crazy because of the heat we have been having, but starting today we are supposed to be much cooler. Going to send them all out to the park in a little while.
Thanks Everyone for asking about my mom. She is doing well, we brought her home on Monday and my 17 yr old brother has been her primary caretaker and has been doing really well. As I said we stopped by yesterday---for 2 reasons. my kids wanted to see grandma and I felt that my brother would need a break. I am just trying to make it thru this month and will reevaluate the dieting for next month. it is so much easier when all I have to do is think about what I am eating
Ok kids are all out the door for the park. I am off to get my day started. Luv and hugs ladies!!
Happy - How awful about the flooding in Duluth, especially at the zoo.
Ellen - Good to hear your mom is doing well. Yeh, I feel so cooped up staying inside in the AC when it's this hot. Glad we're gonna get some cooler weather for a few days!
Bummer, just realized I have a lunchtime internal seminar today. I'd much rather get outside for a bit, but now it looks like I'll just be running out to grab some lunch to bring back to the seminar.
Quick post before the mob storms in again. I'm down at the sister mine at the moment and it is a very pretty environment to work in. Lots of eucalyptus trees, the air smells of it. There are apparently deer, kangaroos and wombats in the woods, but so far haven't seen any sign of any of them apart from the odd dead one.
I'm here in the Hunter Valley now until 10th July when I get 5 days off and then back again for another 10 days or so. Then I think I am finished here and can concentrate on Adelaide and the arrival of the baby before I start to think about work again. Haven't forgotten about your request Mel and will be looking to do something about it this weekend when I am not working but have several appointments to fill and then go to the farmers market which is on somewhere in town. After that I will go to Mum and Me and check out the stuff in there. I need to talk to DS1 and ensure that whatever I get will be acceptable. My sister wanted to make something for the babe, so I have to work that one in as well. Who knows about handmade.
Anyway, better get on with it. The computers will be here soon and then the guys and I need to get a handle on how we are travelling. There is vast confusion around the place because they can't get their business processes under control. Back later.
