  • Hello Ladies,

Very busy week.. and stressful. We had some reductions, 3 people were let go on Monday and one worked in our Group. He was a supv and we all wonderered what he did. Sad he was let go he had a family, but the same time so glad it wasn't me.

Ceejay - I can totally relate about the kids. Many years ago some kids in my neighborhood apparently got bored and set fire to a plant /shrub in the alley. The fire burned one fence panel on my side and two shared panels. Police had some suspects but didn't charge them.

Happy - I saw the news about the flooding, it was sad to hear about the zoo deaths.

Laura - I hope you had a good seminar.

Ellen - good to hear your mom is doing well. Your a good sister for giving him a break..

Shad - when is the baby due?

Mitchellez - Sorry to hear about the car issues, and to top it off when DH is out of town. Take a deep breath... All will be good. Sending you good vibes for your first day at work.

Mel - it's going to be a scorcher here too. I keep my house dark. I know when I have company they always wonder why I keep the drapes closed. I'm like it's to keep the cool in. I will open drapes in the evening.

  • MORNING LADIES OF THE WORLD.

NOT SURE HOW IT HAPPENED BUT I ENDED UP IN THE LOO.
FELT CRAPPY TILL LAST NIGHT AND BETTER THIS MORNING.

HANG IN THERE....YOU WILL BE HOME SOON!

HAPPY.....HOW SAD ABOUT THE ZOO AND ALL THE DYING & FLOODING. OMG!
THAT IS A LOT OF RAIN
I HATE THE "BLAME GAME" AFTER A STORM LIKE THAT.
MOTHER NATURE DOES WHAT SHE WANTS AND WE CANNOT ALWAYS BE ONE STEP AHEAD OF HER.
HOW IS THE TRELLIS PLANNING GOING???
I LOVE TO SEE THEM. MAKES ME FEEL LIKE THE OLD DAYS.
ONE OF THOSE PICTURES IN YOUR MIND THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALL WARM & FUZZY

CEEJAY......HAVE YOU HEARD ANY NEWS ABOUT THE NEW BABY?????

MUST FEEL TO THEM LIKE SAND BETWEEN OUR TOES AT THE BEACH
JEN & I ARE USINGTHE LIBRARY FOR EVERYTHING NOW TOO.
I ORDER STUFF FOR THEM. THE LIBRARY DELIVERS IT TO ME.
RICHIE DELIVERS & PICS UP THERE AND THEN RETURNS IT.
THIS PLAN IS WORKING OUT GREAT! HOPE THAT MADE SENSE.

ELLEN.....I AM GLAD TO HEAR MOM IS DOING WELL.
ALSO WAS NICE OF YOU TO GIVE YOUR BROTHER A BREAK.
HOPE YOU & THE KIDS STAY COOL. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS HEAT!!
NEXT MONTH MAYBE YOU CAN CONCENTRATE ON YOU
  • Morning all. Happy Friday!!

Shad - I'm glad you have some time off coming up, but that's a long stretch away from home until then. Did the dh register somewhere for a baby shower? You sound like you're being particularly cautious re gifts, and a registry would make it so much easier for gift-shopping.

Patty - Sorry to hear about the layoffs - that must certainly be stressful. Sad that anyone must lose their job, but I'm glad it wasn't you. Yeh, we keep our blinds closed on the west facing windows in the afternoon. Even though I expected to have a lot more sun due to the removal of a large tree on the west side of our house, it hasn't been as bad as I thought - there are trees across the street that still shade our house.

Mel - I'm glad you're feeling better today. Yeh, I love popcorn for dinner, but rarely do it anymore. Popcorn has a lot of fiber, so it's not all bad! I'm glad you're using the library - sounds like you've got a system worked out between you and the kids so you can all enjoy their resources. I love that we can put in a hold request online, and then get notified when it's ready for pickup. I just wish there was a pickup window!!! (BTW, my mom's library does have a pickup window, lucky mom.)

    Hellos to everyone!!
    ===
The seminar yesterday was good, so I was glad I went. These are seminars about our internal company, so we get to learn about what's going on with other segments/departments.

Didn't do much of anything yesterday, but I did get the tomato cages on all my veggie plants.

Tonight I'm going to a casino in a neighboring suburb to see a band play. One friend is coming to the house and staying over and we're meeting a couple others. First time visiting this new casino, but I don't think I will do much gambling, if any.

Tomorrow afternoon is the memorial luncheon for my friend D's recently passed father. A friend from out of town is visiting for one day only and I'd committed to getting together with her well before this luncheon came up. Not sure how the timing is working, but J will only be in town/available til about 9 pm, the lunch ends around 3 pm, but is out in the far 'burbs, so I wouldn't get home until 4-ish. Not to mention feeling rude if bf and I leave right at 3... J expressed interest in a bike ride on the lakefront path - which is downright absolutely nutty on a weekend here (ultra crowded), and I really don't think the timing will work at all for that anyway. I will get her to just do dinner or something. Need to get her on her cell phone to firm this up and see if there's anyone else who's free to join us. This friend is a challenge - doesn't communicate very well and her e-mails/fb messages are always a challenge to interpret.

    Gotta run, employee meeting.
  • Baby boy arrived on the 22nd as planned, weighing in at 7 lbs 6 oz. My nephew has posted a picture as well as my niece on FB. For those on FB find Andy Ellis or Libby Ellis on my wall. I must admit that he's a pretty little boy. I can see both his parents in him. In his first picture, I saw his dad.

    Mel
Oh my don't over do in this heat! I talked myself out of going to Jonesboro, AR due to the heat.

    Happy
I hate to hear of flooding especially where wild life is concerned. Speaking of sink holes did you see on the news about the home that sunk in Florida.

    Laura,
It's really sad to hear any one losing their job. oops I'm getting people mixed up here.

    Ellen
Good to hear the you mother is doing well.

    Patty
My sister asked me why I keep the drapes drawn. It's mainly to help with keeping the cool air in but I don't like the kiddo's who run up and under the windows to have an opportunity to peek in. I 've caught them doing that also.

    Shad
When is your grand baby due?

I saw the teen agers walk by my vehicle last night and blew the horn at them. They shot out like something shot them.
I had an unexpected visitor yesterday, an ex male friend. I had thought about him last week. He said he had been thinking about me also. I just didn't feel the chemistry. We did have a long chat.
  • Hello ladies,

Well lets try this again. Bright and sunny today but we are supposed to get some more rain tomorrow - we don't need any more thank you very much. DH did an excellent job of building some climbing vines for the beans. I did work on the garden yesterday - have 8 regular tomatoes budding, about 10 grape tomatoes and the buds of some jalapeno peppers and some bell peppers. Bell pepper plants are small and don't look that good even though they are flowering. I popped a sugar snap pea off the vine - it was yummy. Got some flowers on my cucumber plants, hope they turn into cucumbers. The spinach and lettuce are doing well. I also did some trimming on the herb garden, cut back the dill that went to seed and am hoping it will rebloom a second crop. We have a big festival in town - they have actually closed off the main streets to car traffic. Not sure if we will venture down there. Alot of work today catching up on mowing - the grass is very tall and there's lots of work to be done.

You talk about window drapes - used to have to keep my closed mostly because of the heat but also didn't like people looking into the house at night. Here I leave them open all summer because I love the view although if it's going to be hotter than 80 degrees it does tend to get hot with all these windows. However I do need to keep them closed most of the winter simply because of the cold seeping in. Much better to keep things open and see out.

Ceejay - congrats on the newest nephew. Sounds like you are having quite a time with the kids congregating in your area. You never know what they will do when you aren't looking so that's a troublesome thing to deal with.

Laura - I agree with you on the library system - it's so nice they have offered online services. I hope people take advantage of them. Enjoy the band tonight. So they are still building casinos out that way?

Mel - I hope you are feeling better today after last night. They had a piece on the news about some third party thing failing which contributed to the flooding at the zoo, I guess people are getting pretty vocal. It is a big mess up there and there is more rain to come. That was nice of Ritchie to help you rearrange the apartment so that you can get around easily. We don't need you bonking yourself in the middle of the night!

Shad - home to rest after a very busy week? Hope you can get a little bit of R&R in. Did any of the live critters show up in the field? Are you getting different weather between home and where you are now? Pity that DS's GF just can't be happy for whatever baby gifts she receives, even if they are homemade. Saw some incredibly gorgeous handmade blankets from talented people.

Patty - sorry to hear about the layoffs. That always makes for alot of tension. Everyone feels bad but also glad it's not them too which I always found stressful. Often hard to tell why some people get picked but you can surely always point out people who should have been tossed but continue to hang on.

Ellen - glad your Mom made it through the surgery all right. One less worry.

    Hi's to Anne and Michelle.

I'd better get outside and give DH a hand. Have a good weekend chicks.

    HOW'S THE BUNNY DOING?? W
ONDER IF HE HAS ANY FRIENDS HE'S GOING TO BRING???

  • Morning

    Mel
We need some rain. Love all the graphics.

    _____
I'm lazy. I have had three day's off and all I've done is grocery shop and some laundry. Today I need to get busy with some cleaning and cooking.
Went to bed at 11 p.m. and thought I'd go to urgent care this morning, I have a boil type thing on my upper leg and sore as the dickens. I put some antibiotic cream on it last night and went to bed. It looks a lot better this morning. So I'm holding off going to urgent care and wait for my doctor's appointment on Thursday.
I need to get up and get myself into gear.
  • Good morning,

Must be the weekend because it's quiet in here except for a few of us cacklers There is a fair in town, DH and I decided to go check it out yesterday around 7pm. Didn't realize that things pretty much close down at 6pm Apparently the place is jumping from 10am to 4pm with all the shops open, sidewalk sales, arts and crafts booths and that all shuts down around 5pm. When we got there a few stores were open but most had closed down as well as the arts and craft booths. Just as well, we got an Italian Sausage sandwich and frozen lemonade for dinner which were EXCELLENT and that was mostly our goal - to check out the food booths. We came home and watched the movie Avatar in 3D. Planning on going back to the fair today during the day - they are raffling off a nice boat and DH said it was worth a shot to buy a ticket or two. We were planning on going for lunch - DH just had to finish up the lawn mowing this morning. Just as he headed out, dark clouds rolled in and shortly afterwards we heard the rumble of thunder and in came the rain. It just rained a bit to mess things up, I will probably have to water the garden anyway. Not much else going on here.

Laura - hope you can manage to see both of your friends. Your friend J and her (lack of) communication reminds me of my friend P - would drive me bonkers trying to deal with her. She was a very much seat of the pants person and said I was anal about planning. Being seat of the pants is ok when YOU are the person in the drivers seat but I think it's very inconsiderate of those who have to try and catch up with you. Anyway hope you can catch her after your luncheon service. As for biking on the lakefront can't even fathom driving all the way downtown with your bikes in tow, negotiating traffic just for a hour's ride. How about just a walk instead?

Ceejay - you snuck in on me. I'd gladly send you some rain if I could. Seems like it's feast or family - too much or no rain. Bet things are getting dry and dusty by you. As for the boil, whatever you do - don't try and pop those. They are full of staph and can cause a nasty infection in the leg. I had them a couple of times, they are very irritating, usually they went away on their own if they were just pea sized. Not sure what causes them either.

Ok so one of the ads at the top of the page was for an electric jam and jelly maker. Like it's too hard to put smashed fruit in a pot with sugar and pectin and stir till thickened??????? Ok, maybe I'm cynical because I got tired of falling for this one trick pony contraptions that I thought were a good idea at the time but didn't use more than once or twice?

Mel - how nice to get some rain washed air. Love the smell of that. So what are you dining on in the way of baby foods? Probably easier to buy some than to try and puree the heck out of stuff yourself. Ok, now I too am surprised that you are still finding things to chuck out of the apartment. Would think by now you'd have little more than the bed, 2 towels, a blanket and your chairs People must be sneaking things in when you aren't looking.

Poor DH - the rain let up so he went out and started trimming. Was really going to town and all of a sudden it started raining big drops. So he went back into the man cave and now it stopped. It's doing this over and over. Kinda like being under the right cloud when it opens up. Maybe he'd better give up on the mowing for the day although with all the rain we've had, it's like a jungle out there and the longer the grass grows, the more we have a tick problem even though the deer have not been around in weeks. This on and off rain also puts a downer on going to the fair.

Anyway guess I will do a few housework things waiting for this to let up and blow past. Happy weekend to the chicks.
  • Good afternoon chickies!! So I am still sitting here at work, it has been very slow the last few days and to top it off I discovered that made a pretty big mistake yesterday and we sent the plumber out with the wrong product. My team leads are not making a big deal out of it, but I am uspet. Such a rookie mistake, and to top it off that was my only installation scheduled for today. Well, we all live and learn, I will not let myself live it down anytime soon.

Kinda busy this week, have to work tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday. Have ortho appt with DS on Tuesday as well. I am going to try to set up a play date with my friend and her little girl for DD3. And will have to sqeeze time to work on Mt washmore. All this and DH is out of town from Monday night thru Thursday night. Pray I do not go crazy. Thank goodness my SIL and brother are able to watch the kiddies on Tuesday. My new schedule started the same week that DH is scheduled to be gone.

Happy~Wow, it sounds like the weather does not want you and DH to finish with your lawn. Wish we were getting a bit of your rain down here…my grass is all crispy…I don’t think I can remember a summer when my grass was this dry so early in the year. So, sorry that you arrived at the fair so late. It is always culture shock moving from a metropolis to a smaller community!

Ceejay~take care with the boil type thing on your leg. Watch it closely to make sure you are not getting a secondary infection. Congrats on the new baby nephew!! Sorry the young kids are being a bother, I still remember acting poorly (not that I did so often---mom would have died if she had known) but now I understand. Keep honking at them and asserting your self and they should eventally back off.

Melody~I don’t know if I had mentioned it, but I love your wheels of fire!!! I love how it smells after a thunderstorm…tho everyonce in a while it has a fishy smell and I don’t like that. Gosh, I never would have thought to order baby food online, but I am sort of behind the times and forget the type of things one can place an order for.

Laura~Sounds like you have a busy day today, sorry about your friends father. I hope you are able to figure out how to manage time with both friends and not get caught in a ton of traffic or people! What band did you see? Hope you had fun!

Patty~Layoffs are no fun… Glad you still have a job. I always try to keep the blinds closed, esp in the summer. It really helps to keep the house cooler in the summer. Altho like happy, I would much rather have everything open to see the outside world.

Shad~I don’t know how you keep up with being away from home for such extended periods. I agree if DS’s GF is being so particular about gifts for the baby she should register somewhere to make it easier for those that want to give. I was always happy to have whatever ppl gave me…tho some of the things I looked at and thought ”why do I need this??”

Michelle~how’s the new job, hope your training/proationary period goes smoothly. Sorry to hear about all the car issues…it figures that it allways happens at the worst possible time. Hope things have worked themselves out!

    Annie~ &

Well, ladies I do need to get back to work!! Hope everyone has a super nice Saturday/Sunday. Luv and Hugs!!!
  • Good Afternoon/Evening/Morning All

Thank you for putting up with my absence and re-adjusting.....

Had a great day with baby girl and lil monkey...they came over and went swimming in Nanna's baby poo, watched a lil tube and had popcorn. Lil man fell asleep in Nanna's arms in the rocking chair. I was just loving it...and kept staring down at such a miracle. He is just so happy and loving. I am going to try to post pix in a minute.

This week has been H*ll at work, home, and otherwise. Won't get into it as it is just too much going on.

C is enjoying his new position with new company. It has had him busier than ever being in training, but has also kept him away from home about 3 am till 7 pm. I will get better once he is on his own route and not in training...like maybe another week.

I did get my cordless mouse and it is so much easier...Who Knew? I am getting to know this new laptop more and enjoying it more than cursing it. lol

I am not going to try to do personals as I have read everyone's posts but too much to reply too! Gald mostly everyone is coping with life the best they can.

C will be home at 7 pm and we are ordering pizza and doing a whole bunch of NOTHING! Maybe a pit fire for an hour then bed. Tomorrow will be our time together. No work.

I am planning on taking 4th of July week as vacation...it was originally planned off as C was taking it also, however since the new job, he does not have that day off, but I am taking it anyway....maybe spend time with DD and the babe.

I am posting this, then will try to post pix.....

    Love and Hugs.
  • Pix
Lil man and baby girl in Nanna's babe poo....

My third harvest of lettuce and spinach this year.....

  • Rush job - AGAIN. Still here, just not able to post too often and today I am having as a DAY OFF. Yesterday I didn't have to go to the mines, but spent part of the day getting my laundry up to date, visiting the farmers market and helping the landlady with her charity thing. When i get time, I will tell you all about my day with the firies and the charity and the wheelchair house I now live in. Yep, Mel would fit in here admirably.

Right now I am about to clean teeth, send a text to the landlady that the buzzer for the septic tank is going off again and then I am off to spend some time in the bush or by a lake or looking at something architectural. Just point the car in one direction and keep on travelling. Next week and the week after will be hectic and no doubt troublesome, then we can see how well we did.
Good to see you back Annie.
Catch up with the rest of you tonight. Can't let this glorious day get away from me
Oh and while I think about it. There was a bunch of galahs and cockatoos feeding on the lawn when I got up this morning and now the ducks are waddling across the driveway to get up to whatever ducks get up to these days. Seems they have had enough of the dam for today.

    See you later

  • Morning Girls....

Up this a.m. at 6. Couldn't sleep another minute. C is in bed still sleeping, he was up at 8:30 to join me, but I told him to go back to bed for more sleep/rest. This is his first day off in 8 days. God Love him. I am enjoying yet more time for me. lol. He will be up soon. We had a wonderful evening. The pizza arrived right on time. It tasted wonderful....bacon, mushroom and black olive. YUM. Then instead of a pit fire we had a FIRE of our own....hehehehe. Unlike MELLIE'S Wheels of Fire....lol

I think I am going to make some banana nut bread for him and my pals at CVS. I was in CVS yesterday and got grief from my ex co-workers about be deprived of great baking and cooking...guess I need to buck up and get something to them. I just love when people like my cooking. It inspires me to do more. Hope they are not just being nice and puking behind my back. haha.

Shared Chicken Tetrazini with baby girl and family on Thursday. Saved her from cooking that day and coming up with the food to cook. I know we all have choices and her life is the choice she has made...I just wish they had better income. ALTHO Chris told his company that he wanted a 6 dollar and hour raise and it better hit by June. He went big and ended up with a 4 dollar raise. Good for them. Still hard to pay child support for Ainsley, mortgage, lil man, and poor Sam (yes, my baby) has no insurance. He is now 23 bucks an hour. If he would just marry Sam the insurance would be taken care of. That part makes me want to smack Chris in the face. He is so hesitant to marry because of his first marriage. I said to SAM, not Chris, so hold his misfortune with his ex against Sam. I think the light bulb came on in her head. Sorry to dump bummer info...

MELLIE...so glad you had a quiet night and got a great night's sleep. It can make such a big difference in our attitude when we get the sleep we need.

SHADDIE....I do not know how you deal with all the crap of those jobs and stay sane. You amaze me. Just a few more weeks till Nanna-hood! Wish I knew what she was having, I want to start shopping now. NOT FAIR!! Love the street sign....too cute for those of us that do not have that type of sign. Our signs usually just show, deer crossing, duck crossing, or deaf child area. Not as fun! lol

Guess I had better get to my banana nut bread. Hello to all the worldlies....

    Love and Hugs....

  • I had a surprise visitor early this AM while I was outside.
Good thing the seniors in the lobby knew where I was.
The Dr dropped off 2 Cipro pills for today and a script to fill tomorrow.
Said he is very busy this week & I shouldn't wait any longer.
He was in the area?? Oh yeah??? Like where??? Cruising??
Told me we're not fooling around with this gastro thing anymore.
Sorry to be taking the pills again but tired of the "discomfort".
Gave me a big list of Do's and Dont's.
And I am to keep a separate written jourrnal of all foods, amts & times.
But he's pretty sure he knows what the problems are. Me too.
We'll see. Wish me luck this week. These pills are nasty
