Good, Sleepy, Tired Morning All Ya'll.....

Let's see....Got up on Friday at 5 am. Went with C for his drug test. Breakfast at Pappas Pancake House, it is a hole in the wall and been there for a zillion years but have the best pancakes in the WWW. Off to Wally world for groceries etc. Home, cleaned house, made two cheeseballs, one for home, one for St. Louis. Then made a meat and cheese platter, fried rice, potato salad, dip for chips, banana pudding for C's daughter's gradauation get-together at our house while I was in St. Louis. Headed for SL at 4 pm arrived 9 pm, took 5 hours as had to make a few extra stops for lil man. Stayed up til 2pm helping BF get ready for baby shower for Godbabe. Last person left at 9 pm. BF and I stayed up til 1 am cleaning the joint up. Up at 5 am. Headed for home at 11am arrived home at 4 pm yesterday. C put his arms around me and I just started bawling like a baby. I was tired, worn out, forgot to take my meds with me, just exhausted. He put the lazy boy lounge chair out in back yard, sat me down, fixed me some iced tea and I watched him work on the benches. Went to bed at 8pm. Slept til 6 am and feel pretty good now. Shuwweeeee! We fixed the cutest lil cupcakes for the shower. Yellow cupcakes with white icing, then two choc chips for the eyes and a real pacifier for the mouth. Too darn cute. We made meatballs with the chili sauce/grape jelly goo in the crockpot. Carved a watermelon to look like a baby carriage and then cut up all kinds of fruit to put in it. YUM. The theme of the party was girraffe's.

ELLEN...congrats on the 2lb down...even tho you may have eaten more than you wanted, it could be that you got enough movement to burn the extra calories.

HAPPY...I do not care for the smokie taste of thing either. You would think with all the hot, spicy food stuff I do like that the smokie thing wouldn't bother me...

CEEG...goodluck with the new IPhone and have fun with it.

MELLIE...glad you are feeling a bit better but does not sound like you are out of the woods yet. Stay peaceful in your apartment.

SHADDIE...I think I have said it before...my mom taught me if it doesn't come out of the dryer looking great, it goes in the trash, I think I iron something one a year and then only when I HAVE to.

PATTY...hope you are up and going at it in great health.

LAURA...even tho your eating has been off a bit, I am very proud of you for logging it all the while. Write down next to your food log what you were doing when you ate badly, maybe you can see a trend.

CHELLE...how have all the interviews gone....updates please. Hope everyone is getting healthier every day...hello to DMIL and DH.

Must get busy now...one day away is like a week away. Blah.

Have a marvelous Monday/Tuesday...

Love Hugs and Prayers.

Good morning ladies -

Sorry I was away all weekend. I was super busy...mostly with prepping for the 4 interviews I have this week. I had to refresh my memory on the programming languages I used a few years ago that I know well...but wanted to make sure I could answer specific questions. I'm taking the afternoon off today for two interviews, and I've got two more on Wednesday, and at least one scheduled for next week. I've been fortunate in that for at least a couple of the jobs, I know people who know the hiring manager well, and they are giving me an outstanding reference.

DH overdid it again on Saturday, so he pretty much rested all day on Sunday; and sinus drainage has caused him to get another throat infection...so he's seeing the doc today.

I don't know if I even mentioned how much I enjoyed the first class of the Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence during times of transition and new beginnings. It was so helpful to me already. And one nice thing is that my friend and I are the only two people in the class...so it's almost like having a "private" session. And we get a lot more of the instructor's time, input and insight. Good stuff!! And after a discussion that I had with my director late Friday afternoon in which I was placed in a if I do, if I don't situation, I am more certain than ever that I'm ready for a new beginning.

==========================

Happy - Thanks for starting the new thread. Glad you and DH had a nice dinner at Famous Dave's. A lot has been bothering my tummy lately too...but I think the root cause is stress. Good for you for finding a healthy and delicious option that was also tummy friendly. We had a Famous Dave's in the town where we live, but they went out of business shortly after we moved here. We saw some yellow swallowtail butterflies the other day too...so beautiful! Dragonflies are fun to watch too.

Ellen - Congrats on the weight loss!! That's fantastic!! You're obviously making good choices. Bummer that the girls were sad about the end of school. Will DD1 be going to the same school as her friends in the fall? I hope you didn't have to work too hard over the weekend. Bummer that you missed the BBQ, but as you said, at least you were able to avoid the temptation that usually accompanies those gatherings. What a long day you had yesterday, on very little sleep. I hope you did okay.

Laura - I hope the cold sore stayed away. Yay that the glasses were ready so you only had to make one trip. Bummer about your battery though. It's always somethin'.

Mel - I'm glad you're starting to feel a little better. Our state's recall election for the office of governor is tomorrow; should be quite interesting. I don't want to get into politics on this thread...but one of the candidates is a soul-less ; while the other candidate is truly a good man who risked his life a couple years ago to save a citizen he witnessed being attacked. Too funny about the alarm man being in your bed! You keep on resting, girlfriend. Do as little as necessary for the office, and avoid everyone so they can't rope you in to doing more.

Shad - Awww, I hope you feel better very soon dear friend. Rest when you can and take stuff to alleviate the symptoms.

Ceejay - I don't mind seeing foxes and most other animals...but copper head snakes? NO THANK YOU! In general, I like reptiles, we go to ReptileFest every year and have two pet lizards. And I even like snakes...just not the poisonous kind. I'm not too fond of anything deadly for that matter, I guess. I'm glad you had a good lunch with the uncles on Saturday; bummer about your uncle and his computer woes. It's really hard to work on other people's computers, and it can be very mentally exhausting.

Annie - The phone interviews last week went well and have led to in-person interviews this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Sounds like the baby shower was exhausting but fun! And that you set C up with plenty of yummy food for his daughter's graduation!! So nice of C to take good care of you when you got home. DH did the same for me after I spent nearly the whole weekend trying to prep for interviews I was exhausted yesterday afternoon and still had to take DMIL to get her prescriptions. So he took her to the pharmacy for me, and picked up dinner so I could rest.

I've got to get some work done. I've got lots to do especially since I'm taking the afternoon off.

Much love and hugs to all,

Morning all!

Ellen – Hope you made it through your long workday yesterday. Why did you have to change desks? Office reorg?? Hope you got a good night’s rest last night – this is the first real day of your kiddies’ summer vacay, right?? Better have some energy for it!!

Shad – Glad you’re feeling better. Aaargh, what a PITA hand washing (and drying!) clothing is.

Mel – Car is all better now with a new battery, and the service area also gave the car a really nice wash - even cleaned the rims and dressed the tires! Love the graphics you posted! LOL, I like your new stealthy way of doing your work. Definitely keep yourself scarce for the election activity!!!

Happy – The soup we like is the wild rice. Not light, but so tasty – because what else could make me not order BBQ at a BBQ place, LOL. Mmmm, your potatoes sounded yummy. I'm not crazy about the texture of onions, especially raw ones, but I love the flavor! I agree with you about yogurt – just too too sweet these days. Yet I’m not keen on plain yogurt. It’s probably the best thing though, and I just have to add healthy stuff to sweeten it up like you did. As for our car, it has to be maintained, and a battery is one of the things that needs to be replaced occasionally and that does cost money... According to the service advisor’s meter thingy, the cranking amps on the old battery was only 113 and should have been 550. I’m lucky it even took a jump! And yes, I’m soooo glad I was not in the middle of nowhere!!

Ceejay – Yeh, I felt odd asking for help like that, but people are so helpful. And giving a jump isn’t horribly difficult, and it was nice weather too, and we had the cables in our trunk. Re my cold – I still have a little bit of congestion, so I get crud in my throat that requires clearing. Thankfully, the coughing is 99.9% gone. I’m so glad we don’t get snakes in our area – that would scare the dickens out of me! So you try to help with the computer and get grief over it – how frustrating for you. Congrats on your new phone. Hope you enjoy it. Any new features you’re enjoying??

Annie – Gosh was a busy weekend you had, but it sounds like you had a good time. All the food sounded good. Love those crockpot chili sauce/grape jelly meatballs!! Might have to have a gathering just so I can have an excuse to make those, hahaha.

Michelle – Wow, 4 interviews – busy week for you! You must have done really well on the phone interviews last week! Great job, and great you know folks at a couple of the companies - like I said, it’s who you know…Good luck. Glad you enjoyed your self-esteem session. Nice you’ve essentially got a private class! Sorry dh is still under the weather, I sure hope he pulls out of this soon. Hope your candidate of choice wins in this recall election!! I wouldn’t think I would be unhappy with a more efficient government, but my county just announced this weekend that the property tax bills will go out on time (in July) for the first time since 1978 due to improvements by various agencies. The bill will be due much sooner now, grumble grumble.

Hi Patty!!
==
After finally getting out of the car dealership Saturday, I headed straight for my next errand, gas at Costco – the fuel gauge was on E! Next was Home Depot where I struck out on two items needed. Finally home, then back out to lunch with bf (burrito). [Yeh, I fell off the wagon this weekend and didn't even log my food. Back to it today!!]

After lunch I dug out three gargantuan hosta out of a small (maybe 4ft x 1ft) strip of soil adjacent to the patio. I planted some purple salvia, lavender/pinkish impatiens & white petunias there. Hope they do well there. They’ll get a good amount of late afternoon sun.

I was hot, tired and dirty after that, so after a shower, I took doggy for a long walk and took it easy the rest of the evening. I considered meeting friends later for a drink, but I had a feeling I wouldn’t want to go where they would end up, so I skipped it. Good plan, since it turned out to be a bar/club with a dj and not a band. Instead, I started watching the first season of The Good Wife, which I borrowed from the library. I’d heard it was a good tv show, and I’m enjoying it.

Sunday after relaxing with the newspaper on the patio for a bit, I separated one of the big hosta into several smaller plants and planted them in a spot that’s pretty dry. I hope they react with their usual behavior - thriving on neglect and rough conditions, lol. Bf could not get the @#!$%! tiller going after much tinkering, and so I didn’t till the veg plot or plant my veggies! I have some of one and all of two hosta left and no place to plant them – well, there are certainly spots, but I don’t want hosta all over the place, even if it’s the most low maintenance plant around! I will put them out at the curb with a “FREE” sign – they can be broken down into many, many individual plants.

Well, the one patio set we considered buying on craigslist last weekend turned out to need a lot of paint touchup on the aluminum frame of the table and some of the chairs, and so we passed….nice that the seller was straightforward about that and sent us close-up photos of the damage, since he was not close to home at all & we certainly wouldn't want to waste a trip. BUT… the seller was willing to separate the set and sell us just the two chaise lounges + cushions and the small table that goes with them, and those items were like new!! the seller said they didn’t use them at all and they sat in their crawl space most of the time. So we drove out to Aurora (40-mile drive one way) to pick them up late yesterday afternoon. But it was well worth it - we paid what the cushions alone would cost – maybe less - and everything is like new. However, these items did not break down into a smaller easier-to-transport sizes, so we had one lounger tied into the trunk, one tied on the roof, and the cushions and small table in the back seat! Rather a tense fun ride home with worrying that everything would stay secure, but all was well. This is when a larger vehicle would come in handy!!

When we got home, I took doggy for a walk and then came home and plopped down onto a nice comfy chaise for a few minutes. I’m happy that we don’t have to look anymore and that we’ve now got comfy seating for reading and lounging in the back yard this summer. Bf and I went out to dinner and we were both beat after our day, so it was an early night.

My weekend getaway is coming up this Friday, and I just got in touch with my friend B. to set a meeting time at her place (Fri, mid-morning). Just double-checked my calendar to confirm I have also taken Thursday off work as well as Friday – YESSSSSSS!!! Three-day SHORT workweek for Laura!! Somehow that snuck up on me. Looking forward to it!!

Okay, this is a novel and I have work to do – off to post and get back to it. TTFN!

Java just stepped into June. Four days clean of artificial sweeteners, eating Paleo (no grains, dairy or legumes etc). Feeling oddly focused. I will catch up with you all ASAP. iPhone helps me stay in touch more often. I hope you're ALL well and smiling. Hi

Hi there chickie babes,

Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend. I did some yardwork yesterday and then DH and I decided to go out with the cousins after all. We had a great time, both sets of my cousins came by, we met some of their friends and saw some people we knew from the museum. The bartender was new and she was really a great person even if life did harden her a bit before her time. Along about 8pm a young girl showed up with a baby in a stroller. Kid was about 5 or 6 months old - enough to be able to sit up by himself but not much more than that. The girl was from Chicago and was visiting with friends. She was a single parent and proceeded to get quite drunk. Felt sorry for the poor baby who only had a t-shirt and diaper on (it got cool in the evening and the mosquitoes were out. She also came in and parked the baby right by the jukebox which was BLARING. The bartender (a single Mom herself but with much more brains) took a risk by saying some things to the girl a few times when she felt the mom was putting the baby in some somewhat dangerous situations. It really is a shame that girls are so nonchalant about having kids now a days. Granted the mom (who was happy to talk to anyone who would listen) came from a neglected upbringing so she probably didn't have a clue herself or a good role model to teach her anything. Just really sad, the baby was a cutie, allerate and even at 9:30 didn't show a sign of getting sleepy. I would have loved to pick the kid up and show him a little loving but didn't think it was a good idea to go there.

Today I made a list of things I want to get accomplished today and am knowing them off slowly but surely. Nice to be organized (for a change).

Laura - what a great deal you got with the lounge set - I'd love to find something like that for the gazebo. Sounds like a nice addition to the porch. Too bad I didn't still live near you - would have taken the hosta off your hands. We have some here that I need to separate and plant, but first have to figure out how we want to restructure the yard and I'm thinking that's next year's project! I never cared for wild rice in pilaf but I am hooked on wild rice soup ever since we had some yummy stuff up at a restaurant in Duluth. I did try to make some - it was good but 2 hours later all the rice absorbed all the liquid and all I had left was a wild rice casserole Will have to try the soup next time we go there. Thanks for suggesting it. Wow a long weekend to look forward to, nothing is quite so valuable as time off, ain't that the truth?

Michelle - screwing up my face, wishing so very very hard that something solid comes from these interviews you have. You are trying so hard, good work should be rewarded. Great that you are getting alot of of your class too - it helps to take the edge off otherwise being frustrated with things. How nice that DH was helping you out this weekend, sure does mean alot although sorry to hear he pushed himself too hard.

I have casually been looking for work here but I am starting to realize how difficult it will be to actually get something. Was talking to the bartender yesterday - she has 4 yes FOUR part time jobs. Says people don't want to pay much up this way and they mostly do part time so that they don't have to pay benefits to their employees. Which means alot of people up this way don't have health insurance. I've met quite a few people here who are working and have at least 2 jobs. I did apply at 2 places and never heard anything back, so I think I will maybe volunteer one day a week at 2 places in the hopes that it might turn into some part time thing.

Annie - sounds like you had a whirlwind weekend. Curtis is so good to you, glad you got yourself a keeper I saw a couple of cute party type favors for showers - including the watermelon baby carriage. Had one for a baby too, perhaps I kept a picture on the computer. Just thought it was cute - all my friends are LONG past the baby thing as well as my cousins.

Ceejay - OMG - I'd much rather put up with a bear than copperhead snakes Have you figured out your phone yet? Find a teenager I think you need to take a day to yourself and just take it easy before you wear yourself out.

Shad - sounds like they are giving you a go for the money on the training front? I guess you need a turbo broom this week Are you feeling better?

Mel - I'll be glad to do all the explaining you care to listen to. The deck is a very peaceful place - except for the dahmn buzzing of the horse/deer flies and one particular kind of annoying bee. I love the stealth mode of you taking care of things at the office too Keep up the good work and keep yourself healthy. How's the innards feeling? Did the kids show up yet? Run and HIDE

Hello Patty and Ellen

Just like Mel's logo, I am doing washing and the dryer just beeped. Better get the stuff out before it wrinkles. Have a good rest of the Monday folks.

Annie
Count me in. Everything sounds good. Wish you lived closer.

Happy
I could use a couple of day's off for myself, but when I stay home the neighbors become a nusience. Wish I didn't live a 100 miles away from my friend and relatives. That's a smart idea to keep volunteering in hopes of a prospect of a job.
And you are correct in finding a teen to help me with my phone. That is if you can catch them long enough.

---------
Been busy today.
The media has announced the Johnny Cash festival for October. My aunt wants to go but she want's to sit on the floor in front of the stage. Those seats are 75 to 150 dollars. I'm not paying that much for a ticket.

Good Morning Chicklets.......

Sad news...my little birdie momma in my birdhouse on my front porch has abandoned her nest. Have not seen her for several days. I am sad about that.

Today is round two of interviewing for the job here at work. 5 of the 6 people made it to round two. I still feel two of the candidates have more experience and more knowledgeable for the position. I am a quick learner and would do the job well, but feel we need someone to hit the ground running to keep this office open. So I have mixed feelings about the position. Either way is ok by me.

MELLIE....Glad you didn't have to use all your strength to get the office ready for elections and that it was in order when you arrived. Take her easy today and relax. God love Jen and her patchy legs. Those little heat wraps are wonderful. I have used them many times. C uses them on his back when he has had a harder day than the normal lifting.

CEEG...I sat a place for you at the table...you didn't show up. lol. I brought a salad with a piece of grilled chicken on it for lunch today. C took two pieces of grilled chicken and the cucumbers that were left over.

HI JAVA...thanks for checking in. Like to know what is going on with all the chicklets.

HAPPY...don't even get me started on people who do not need to have children. People who really really want kids cannot seem to get pregnant, and those who clearly do not need them, have them with no trouble. I just do not get that thinking. I know we are not supposed to question God's motives but boy do I have questions when I meet him in person. Glad your visit with family went well. It is so nice when it does. Lists to work off of are good. I always make lists. Funny thing tho, when I can mark one thing off I tend to add two more. blah.

LAURA...my bf in St. L has hosta's around her pool. They look lovely except when their BOY dog Bailey p's on them. They die shortly after. She did move some of the hosta's out to the front yard to keep their beauty. Patio furniture sounds like a steal. C ripped the plastic crap that was wound around the edges of my table on the back patio. Then he painted it black. It has a glass top and look very nice.

CHELLE....go Chelle...it's your birthday...knock em dead with your interviewing and skills. Fingers crossed, continually praying. Hope DH gets to feeling better.

SHADDIE...hope you are feeling better and not bonking the class on the head.

ELLEN....Schools out teachers let the monkey's out.....yikes....now it is 24/7 kid city for you. Nap when they nap. If they don't nap, give them some dimetapp. lol

PATTY....where oh where is Patty..hope you can find the new thread!!

I think that is everyone....notice I said think...only a few brain cells left.

Have a marvelous, happy, peaceful, healthy Tuesday. Loves, hugs, and prayers....

Morning all.

Hi Java – Good to see you pop in. You’ll have to come back and tell us about eating Paleo.

Happy – Glad you had a good time out with the cousins. I feel sorry for the baby that you saw with the drunk mom. Kids are very durable and make it through amazing circumstances, but not unscathed. So unnecessary. It should be harder to have a child, but we haven’t evolved like that yet… Crud, totally forgot to put the hosta to the curb last night. Good thing they're so hardy, and also that we put them into grocery bags and watered them a bit. They’ll be fine. Someone will definitely want them, and in a day, week or month I’ll think of what I could have done with them, LOL. Not to worry, I have more that could be thinned out… Hope you finish the tedious data entry work. Good idea just to get out and volunteer until you land a paying job.

Annie – Dinner sounded delicious. Well, when you put it like that, I suppose I’d want the candidate who could be successful enough quickly enough to keep the office open and save the jobs – you’ve got drive, that person could be you!!

Ceejay – Yeh, those are expensive tickets – worth it if it were Johnny Cash himself (if he were still alive, not in ghost form, haha).

Mel – Sounds like you had a productive day yesterday. Hope you have a restful day today – don’t get sucked into any election day drama! What movie will you & Jen watch?

Hellos to Shad, Michelle & Patty.

Nuttin’ much to report. It was a gorgeous day yesterday – sunny, blue sky & mid-70’s. I ate outdoors at the office plaza down the block. After work I read for a bit out in the yard on the cushy chaise lounge. Doggy just loves being outside in the nice weather, and when one or both of us is out there too, he’s in heaven.

Today’s weather is the same, love it! Skipping the move tonight because the one I wanted to pick is at a theater far from home. Burned enough gas on Sunday, so I’ll stay close to home today. Couple errands to run – 1. Buy covers for the loungers, 2. Buy a cheapie dvd player for the bedroom. We have a 2nd dvd player in the basement, but it’s in the exercise area for my workout dvds. We also have a dvd player/recorder, but we still haven’t tackled the project of getting some of our old vhs tapes recorded onto the dvr and then burned to dvd, so we’ll just leave that one in the living room for now. Anyway, the one I found in a sale flyer is $9.99 after a $10 mail in rebate – crazy how inexpensive this stuff is now.

That’s it for now. Everyone have a great day.
