Hi ladies -

I'm around, but swamped at work. I have to finish a report this morning, so I can get the biz to approve it, and then take it to the first meeting in the approval process this afternoon so that it can be installed the first Friday in Jan.

I hope you all are doing well.

Love and hugs to all,

Morning all. Shortest day of the year today and then they start to get longer - yay!

Shad - Glad you're enjoying yourself. Don't bother with the dial up or worry about personals, continue your wonderful time.

Mel - Sorry the party was a bust. Feel better soon!!

Annie - Nice shopping trip when you receive some gifts for yourself! Sorry the LJS made you sick. Enjoy dinner and lil monkey tonight. Congrats on his graduation to newborn status and clothes.

Hellos to Michelle, Ceejay and Happy.
--
Went out to pick up an rx after work and to shop for the secret santa gift. I went to many stores and just didn't find anything - Kohl's, Hobby Lobby, Meijer, Walmart, Staples, Walgreens. First off, no golf themed office accessories (which actually is a relief - not as many golf nuts out there as I'd thought, LOL), and hardly any nice desk calendars - the kind you tear off a page a day. Didn't focus on the "covered coffee mug" - assuming that's a commuter type cup. At least I found a good sale on kleenex, lol.

Today at lunch I'll go to Books a Million and hope they have a decent selection of calendars. I'm now properly mourning the loss of the Borders store that was a couple miles from the house because they had an excellent selection of calendars. If I don't find a gift at lunch, I'll really be in a crunch because our dept gathering, at which I presume we'll exchange our gifts, is tomorrow afternoon. And tonight is the movies, so not much time to do anything tonight. Aaargh.

Tonight we're seeing the movie "My Week with Marilyn". Been nominated for some awards. Our movie group leader sent both the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award nominations and I have a lot of movies to see before Oscars night!

Well, nuttin' much else to report, so I'll post. Have a good day.

Good Evening/Morning Everyone.....

Dinner with Sissy and fam was great. Lil Monkey slept on my chest for a very long time...1 1/2 hours...and I actually fell asleep for about 20 minutes...so peaceful...and loving..it is amazing the love I feel for this lil babe...truly...you will NEVER know the love for a grandchild till you have one.....it is so intense. Just sayin'

Curtis was late to dinner cause he was shopping for me...really? OK be as late as you want lover boy...lol

Tomorrow the hotshots from MI and KY are in the office to deliver a rah rah rah speech and go gettem in 2012. I am more looking forward to the lunch from Maggianos and the after hours holiday cheer at Champps! lol. Breakfast meeting at Cafe Patachou at 7:30 am...not ready for that but good food. So tomorrow will be a bust on food. Breakfast...lunch...then drinks and appetizers...um not even going to try to be good....Some days it is all good.

Laura..I love books a million...however I thing the closest one is Terre Haute, Indiana, which is about 1 hr, 45 mins from me...not worth the drive. I will stick with half price bookstores. Have you tried a Hallmark Store for secret santa??

CHELLE.....bullcr*p...it is the Christmas season...things should be slowing down and you need to relax...take care of you FIRST...then stress out about all the work stuff...you are more important...

CEEJAY...hey back at cha...hope you get back to post soon.

Morning all. Last day of work until next Wed.

Mel - Thanks for passing along the message re Happy. Hope you have all your peeps lined up - seems like the office should be taking care of that, but what do I know??

Annie - Awww, you had a really nice time w/ lil monkey last night. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast this morning and the lunch and drinkies to come, and that it's all worth sitting through the rah-rah stuff. I could spend tons of time in any bookstore, but I usually limit my browsing to the library because it's cheaper, lol!

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies!!
--
Found the type of desk calendar I had in mind at Books a Million yesterday, and still had $$ to spend so I added a Starbucks gift card. Yay! We already did our Secret Santa exchange this morning and I was happy to receive my Peanuts holiday dvd collection and a set of holiday scented candles. My recipient was happy w/ his gifts, whew.

Next year I think it would be fun to do a White Elephant gift exchange instead. Or maybe that would be a fun thing for my family to start doing. I came across something in my closet that I'd love to give as a white elephant - the plaster castings of my feet done by my podiatrist for my custom orthotics!!! Doc had decided he didn't have the space to store them anymore and was giving them back to his patients.

The day/time of our family holiday gathering has finally been solidified (or at least I hope so, because I sent the e-mail last night, but haven't received any replies yet). It'll be the 24th, which is good because it'll include bf's mom and my side of the family and so we only need to do everything once. But now it'll be a scramble - shopping, cooking, cleaning, and yes, some decorating yet to be done. Need to get some lists started!!

Holiday gathering for our department at 2 pm, so I better get this posted and finish whatever needs doing before then.

Cheers!

Happy Thursday! Happy Christmas Eve Eve Eve!

Finally, a chance to post. The report I was rushing to finish and get approval for so that I could present it for the preliminary round of implementation review didn't get finished. The business users "clarified" (meaning, changed) the requirements at literally the last minute, which messed up the entire report. So it's being pushed out until the 3rd week in Jan. So first priority today, I have to finishing up all the documentation for another report that is being implemented the first week in January, and then try and fix what's broken in the report that changed yesterday.

No stress though...NONE AT ALL...it's my last work day before 11 glorious days off, and even though some of next week will be spent resting after my procedure at least I'll be forced to relax.

BTW, for weeks, I've been asking Mother Nature not to have any snow until the 22nd, so I wouldn't have to drive in it. Well, as if on cue, I woke up to it snowing this morning...big fluffy flakes. It's sticking on the ground (about 1-2" so far) and coating the trees beautifully. DMIL said it was snowing at our house yesterday while we were at work, but she was disappointed that it melted as soon as it hit the ground...so now she has her Christmas Winter Wonderland.

*************************

Annie - I'm so sorry to hear about Sam and Chris' financial troubles. I think this year is a tough year for just about everyone...and it's gotta be even more difficult on only one income and having another mouth to feed (albeit an adorable one). I hope her insurance covered all the hospital expenses, including the extended NICU stay. So sad that she's going to be losing her insurance soon. I don't understand how so many people are allowed to cheat and steal from the system, but the ones who really, really need the assistance can't get it. Thank you SO much for the Humana Healthwise book! Lots of good info there. So nice of your Secret Santa to get you a lovely table runner and kitchen linens!! I'm so glad to hear that Curtis is not only helping you with everything, but also spoiling you (as in treating you as wonderfully as you deserve to be treated). Glad you had a nice evening with your DD, Chris and Jake. So sweet that the lil guy fell asleep while you were holding him. Enjoy your lunch today from Maggianos and the happy hour at Champps!

Happy - I loved what you wrote the other day about the true meaning of Christmas and the gifts of ourselves. Time with those we love, making cherished memories, is the best gift we can give. We got about an inch of snow last night/this morning. I hope you have good traveling weather. I totally know what you mean about Pinterest...it's a fun way to pass the time. That's awful that you've been paying for high speed Internet and getting dial-up speed at best, and that your internet and TV service is so spotty up there. Does it have to do with being so far out in the country or the weather or is that just how it is for everyone all the time up there? I'd love it if you would share the recipes for amaretto brownies, Harvey Wallbanger cake, and your coffee cake. That sucks about your new freezer being dented. If it's not one thing, it's another. Dang, I missed you before you left for the state to the south. I hope your travels are safe and the time with family and friends is wonderful! Love ya, sis!

Mel - Bummer about the budget woes...as I said to Annie, I think $$ is scarce all over, well almost all over. Wow, you really had your hands full trying to help over 250 seniors get to their busses for their party! I can understand Jen wanting to reminisce about her dad and his mother...and I can totally understand about your not wanting to. I hope you, Jen and Richie are able to have a nice Christmas...and that the kids are too difficult to deal with. Bummer that you weren't able to go to the office party, but it sounds like the party was a let down anyway and you didn't miss much. I hope you're feeling better now.

Ceejay - I hope that your diverticulitis has calmed down. A friend of mine is getting over that, but was in quite a lot of pain for several days. So nice of you to help your uncle declutter. I wish you lived closer so you could help me.

Shad - So glad you've been enjoying your time with Chris and your family!! I checked out the website for the Weta Cave. I think I'd like going there as I'm a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies.

Laura - Big game this Christmas night. Are you going to be somewhere you can watch it? We'll probably be at DH's aunt and uncle's, but I'm sure they'll be have the game on TV there. I hope the day goes quickly for you so that you can enjoy your long weekend. I love the photos from the botanical gardens. Great photo of you with your friends. And I love the Chicago skyline done in plant materials. DH and I really have to get down there one of these days. We have several botanical gardens in Milwaukee which we enjoy, but Chicago's looks really spectacular. How was the movie last night? I don't even know what movies are up for awards...but then the last two movies I've seen in the theater are "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2". I've never heard of Books a Million, now I wish we had one closer! The closest one is in Chicago! But at least I have the library. Good for you for finding the secret santa gift. How great that you got Peanuts DVDs and candles! I love White Elephant gift exchanges and truly sometimes what one person thinks is a White Elephant is actually something that someone would like. I got an adorable snowman statue for example. But I'm not sure who would want your plaster castings! No offense.

Wishing you ladies a fabulous day! I'll try and log in tomorrow!

Much love and many hugs,

Morning all,

Just about to go off for a bit of a walk. Don't think they will be too much running today. Yesterday went down to Turakirae Heads to see the seals, only they have gone south for the summer and there were none to find. However the scenery was wild and wonderful and I climbed rocks and walked through gravel and shingle and prickly plants and got accosted by sheep once in a while. It was a good day. Bought the last of my gifts and today will spend some time wrapping and writing gifts and cards.

My sister only works for 1/2 day today so she will be home soon. Meantime I better get moving and get on with my day and get her lot wrapped before she comes home.

Will someone stop me from eating these beautiful cherries!!!! Cancel that order, I will have them finished before you get here with the cattle prod.

Shad - Sounds like a great time walking and climbing! Too funny about the sheep. Bummer that there were no seals this time. Enjoy the wrapping and the cherries!
