Happy Thursday ladies -

Physical therapy kicked butt yesterday! Sheesh, what a great workout! It's like circuit training...moving from one exercise to the next with little or no break in between. I still need to work on balancing on one foot, but I am getting stronger and learning to use and maintain perfect form in terms of my back. After PT, I wanted to mow the lawn, cut down the weeds along the fence, and also go to the pool...but once I got done the mowing and weeding, I didn't have any energy left for the pool. DH has had a bad sinus infection and awful allergies, so I couldn't leave the yard work for him. I don't mind doing it anyway, and I burned a bunch of calories. Tonight is Ball Zumba.

I could NOT fall asleep last night...which is so unlike me. I usually fall asleep within 15 minutes of my head hitting the pillow. But I was wide awake at 11:30 (after trying to go to sleep by 9:30 like I usually do). Then the dogs woke me up at 1:30. And when the alarm went off at 4, I did NOT want to wake up.

***************
Laura - You're right, water aerobics would've been much more refreshing...it just wasn't meant to be. Good luck at your dotor appointment today. Did the letter from the blood bank explain what they found so that your doctor can recheck? Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok. I'm so sorry to hear about Keeper. Sending a hug her way (and for you too). So sad when we lose a beloved pet. I hope you have a nice time at lunch with your friend and at the cookout with family. The hydrangeas are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the photos!

Ceejay - That's great that you have so much vacation left! Are you allowed to roll it over to the next year if you don't use it all? Where I work, we have to use our vacation by the end of the year or we lose it. The benefit concert sounds like a fun time for you and your Aunt.

Annie - As for your carpet, I've had good success with the Resolve carpet cleaning products. As much as you think your hands aren't attractive without the fake nails...it is probably doing them a world of good to have a rest. I wore fake nails for years...and might go back to them someday. The pedicure sounds great...just wear cute sandals and no one will notice your hands! LOL The dinner you made sounds fabulous! Bummer that your friends had to cancel/reschedule the get togethers. You should take this time to go see/do things in Indy that you don't normally take the time to do. For instance, does Indy have museums that you'd be interested in seeing? Or so you can be outside, how about a botanical garden? I'm glad to hear that Sam's appointment went well. Is she feeling better now? Good luck with the garage sale...I wish I could truck over about 1/2 my house and have you sell it for me!

Mel - It does sound like you live in a great community. The tenants should be grateful for all the amenities. OH NO!! You're not feeling well again?! Did you overdo it with the solid foods? Or the stress/activity? I hope you don't have to go back to the hospital. I'll be sending prayers and good vibes and healing hugs your way.

Ellen - How are you, your DH and all the kids doing? Are the kids enjoying their summer vacation?

Shad - I'm not surprised you got sick with all the long hours you're putting in at work, not to mention all the stress. Take care, my sista. Sending healing hugs your way.

Happy - I've been thinking about you a lot. I hope things are going well at the new place!

Time to get some work done...actually coffee first, then work.

P.S. I just found a link for some great ab exercises....I just have to clear them with my PT before I try them. LOL:

Lots of love and hugs,

Morning all.

Shad - Feel better soon! I'm not surprised you're sick - you have been working and traveling so much with little time to rest.

Mel - Hope you don't end up in the hospital. Take it easy with the activity and maybe go back to the soft foods - I say sequester yourself and don't answer the door or the phone!!

Ceejay - The Johnny Cash benefit event sounds nice - hope you get the tickets. Nice to have that much vacation time to look forward to taking!

Annie - Sorry your dinner plans fell through. What you made for dinner sounds so tasty!! Nice you'll have someone else clean your carpets. I remember when I was living at home, my mother spent a lot of time vacuuming the carpets very thoroughly before the carpet cleaning guys came, and then they were in and out in about 30 min. (it was only the LR & DR being done) and she was so ticked off. Not that the carpet wasn't clean, lol, but she still complained. That's my mom for ya.

Michelle - Sorry you didn't get to the pool last night, but at least the mowing's done. Bf complains about all the mowing early in the season and I always have to remind him that at some point it'll be hot and very dry and the grass won't need mowing as often (especially since we don't water it, lol) - this week is a good example. I'm sorry you didn't get a good night's sleep. I hope you catch up on it tonight!! The blood donation org's letter did get into detail, so I've got the letter with me to bring to the doctor today.

Ellen - Hope you're enjoying the week w/ dh and the kids. Bf mentioned that his brother is taking vacation time in early August and will take the two daughters to the zoo (Brookfield), and his mother will also go. Hopefully we can go too - been several years since I've been to Brookfield. Bf was asking his friend who lives in the city how the library program works to get passes for free admission to the zoo since it's gotten to be more expensive over the years. He asked me if I still had my Chicago library card (??? we've lived in the burbs for 11 years now, and I don't think I'm that much of a packrat to still have it, LOL). Anyway, I told him to see if our library offered something similar, and they do. And so does his mom's library and his brother's... hope the passes are available for when they want to go.

Happy - Hope you're having a good trip and enjoying your new house!

BF sold many of his old (but high end) bike components through Ebay auctions over the weekend and yesterday while he was boxing the frame for shipment, he reached over the big box to get something off his workbench and put his back out. He was in a lot of pain yesterday and just couldn't get comfortable. He ended up sleeping on the recliner last night. I hope he can get in touch with his doctor today. I certainly didn't want this to happen, but I hope this makes him realize he needs to focus on his fitness. He has a gym membership, a gym 2 miles from home (and a fancy new bike!) - no excuses! This is definitely nag-worthy! We both need to come to terms that exercise isn't optional. If we want to have good dental health, we brush and floss daily. Exercise needs to be treated the same!!

Last night I went off to the new market near the house for my cuke salad ingredients and a few other things and found the store to be closed! And that goes along with noting that there was no sale flyer for this store in the bundle we received in the mail yesterday. I'm so disappointed - it was so convenient and had an extensive produce section and an excellent deli. I hope this isn't a permanent closure, but it doesn't look good... I ended up going to the other produce store we used to shop at. They've remodeled and made the aisles wider - I like that. But it's not as convenient, and it's always crowded...boo.

I got my veggies prepped for the salad last night and I'll add the liquid when I get home. Speaking of that - need to get this posted and look at the train schedule for the train I need to get this afternoon.

TTYL.

Laura - Our lawn is pretty dry. We water the veggie and flower gardens but not the lawn. So it might not need mowing again for a week or so (unless we get some rain). I love the Brookfield Zoo. We went there last year (or was it the year before), and it was a lot of fun. So nice that your library offers free passes to the Zoo. Have you been to the Lincoln Park Zoo. A friend of ours who lives in Chicago really likes that zoo too. Way cool that your bf has sold some of his bike components, but ouch that he threw his back out! I hope he does see the doctor. If he can do some stretches that can help a lot...as does ice for the first few days. I am learning, the hard way, how important it is to get and stay fit...and especially strengthen the core muscles. You're right...exercise is NOT optional. Bummer that the new market was closed! Again, good luck at the doc, and have a great time tonight.

Mel - I am so proud of you for putting yourself first! Good for you for turning off the phone, putting the sign on the door, and telling the office you're unavailable. Well done going back to the soft foods. Just be patient...you're on the road to recovery.

Don't know how you do every thing.
----------
Doctor visit this morning was okay. My b12 was below range so I have to start taking b12 injections once a month and my thyroid was extremely high so he's put me back on my thyroid med. He looked a little puzzled but I told him it does this at times. He's blaming the generic brand and wants me to take only the name brands. I've heard of this happening. The nurse gave me a b12. I also asked him if he removed skin tags so he's going to start them when I come in for my next b12.
My neighbor went with me. She needed to run a few errands for her and then went to eat lunch with my friends. We ate at Fazoli's. I had the chicken parmasion (sp). I had half the spaghetti, 1 bread stick, and a side salad and the chicken. I realize that it's loaded in sodium but it was oh soooo good.

I've found the motivation that I need to continue my weight loss proram. I know it's not much but I've raised my good cholesterol from 35 to 38. Exercise is supposed to raise it even more. I'll have t to work through being tired all the time though. A trip to the doctor's office each month in the motivator.

Oh, I bought tickets to the Johnny Cash show online last night Annie, I'd forgot about the all black. I hope she doesn't mind climbing stairs. The only seat close to the stage was high up. I may get dizzy but hey we're going. I'll call her tomorrow. Didn't realize that Keith Urban was going to be there on the 25th. He's sold out.

Happy Friday ladies -

I went to Ball Zumba last night...it was fun and a great workout. I also did 20 minutes on the recumbent stepper, and a few planks before class. I was beat by the time I got home...so I just showered, ate and relaxed in front of the TV. Today, DH took the dogs to the groomers and I have to pick them up by 3 and then take Mischief to the vet for a blood test.

My allergies/sinuses have been SO bad ever since I mowed the lawns on Wednesday. The Allegra isn't doing much, and the only thing that is helping is Benadryl...but I can only take that at night. Hopefully, I'll get my head uncongested enough to work today and do website work (and have fun) this weekend.

***********************

Ceejay - I wouldn't say "I'm back" to my old self (yet). I still have a long way to go on the road to strengthening my back...but I'm getting there. I just have to remember "baby steps", which is a tough one for me. I'm glad the doctor is taking care of your low b12, and your high thyroid. I know from my DMIL that the various thyroid meds work differently on each person and you need to find the one that will work for you. What are skin tags? Glad you had a nice lunch with friends...good for you on practicing portion control and for raising your good cholesterol. Movement/exercise is the best way to raise it. Mine is usually low, except when I was the Zumba queen. The b12 shot and getting your thyroid in balance should help you be less tired so you're able to exercise more...of course, you get a lot of exercise/sweating in at your job. Seriously, with all the heat/humidity you get down there, I don't know how you manage to work in an environment without a/c. That's great that you got the Johnny Cash show tickets!

Mel - We could do with some of that rain...but we just don't want it on the weekends! Don't overdo it on the computer games, ok missy? I'm so glad you had a nice chat with Richie, and good night's sleep. I hope you have a relaxing day and weekend.

Morning all. TGIF!!!

Ceejay - Hope the thyroid med does its job and that the b12 shots make you less tired. Though it's not surprising you get tired - doing that physical work in no AC!! Your meal sounds tasty - but yeh, the sodium was probably high. My doctor told me restaurant foods are very high in sodium. She also told me a rule of thumb re sodium: The milligrams of sodium should be no higher than the calories. So when I looked at the cottage cheese container this morning, and the calories for a serving were 110 and the sodium 410 mg - eek!

Mel - Glad you eased back yesterday and feel better today. Nice of Richie to stop by and check in on you. Have fun w/ the games today.

Michelle - Sorry the allergies are bothering you. Good for you with the workout. You'll get there, I know it!

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies!!

Late night yesterday. After work I quickly finished assembling the cuke salad and then headed to the doctor. She is putting me on a water pill (diuretic) to see if that helps lower my BP. I also got the lecture re lowering the sodium in my diet, and the rule of thumb I mentioned to Ceejay. I go back in about 6 weeks for a followup, at which time she will draw blood to see how the water pill impacts my electrolytes or some such thing. She will also have my blood tested for what I was notified of in the letter from the blood donation org. She wasn't very worried given that the letter indicated the one positive test was followed by several other tests that were negative and that I did not have the Hepatitis C virus. That's what the letter was all about. Yeh, sort of alarming, huh?? No more blood donations in my future now that I'm on their sh*t list, LOL.

I took doggy for a walk after I got home, then went to my sister's house for the cookout. Bf stayed home because he was still very uncomfortable (and he also didn't want to be hobbling around in front of everyone, LOL). It was a nice evening with my sis and her dh, and my SIL and her sister. It's so quiet where they're at - not at all like living one block over from a busy street, LOL.

On the way home, I stopped and bought some Aleve for bf. (I'd asked my own doc about bf's back and she strongly urged that he consistently take anti-inflammatory meds.) He slept on the recliner again last night, but around 5 am, he got into bed. Hope that meant the Aleves are working and the pain is easing. I had to take the garbage and recycling to the curb this morning and I'd prefer not to, LOL!!

I'm so glad it's Friday! Two late nights in a row, and having felt like I didn't really relax all that much - I need my "me time".

Might get together with a friend for dinner this weekend, but nothing's firm yet. Otherwise, I need to do some yardwork and I really need to go shoe-shopping!!

Well, that's enough rambling for now. I'll get this posted and then see if anyone's snuck in on me. Have a good weekend everyone.

I'm still low on the hdl, good cholesterol, the range should be between 40-60.
My sister takes Niaspan (sp) for her hdl, and I could take over the counter slow nicacin. We have 5 pump's down stairs that really heat up during the summer months but it's stay's nice and warm in the winter. We had some rain early this morning. The thunder must have woke me up but I turned over and went back to sleep. It's still nice outside.

Michelle
I know how you feel about the grass allergies. I didn't mow but when the person who did mow the lawn last week sure stirred up the pollen from the grass. Give the Allegra some time. It took about a week for me. It will kick in. Skin tags are similar to warts.

______
I had some intestinal issue's this morning but hopefully they have subsided. I'm wondering if the b12 injection did this. Think I'm going to take the computer to the shop and see if he has a battery that will fit it and find out about the cursor jumping around. So if I'm not on line for a couple of day's you'll know why.

Diuretics can pull the potassium out of you body. I was taking 25mg but the doctor told me to cut it in half from now on. I'm taking a prescribed potassium now also. Hope this works for you.
