  • GOOD MORNING CHICKS

GONNA BE A SCORCHER TODAY AND IT COMES WITH A MILLION WARNINGS ON THE TV.
FIGURED IT WOULD BE A GOOD DAY TO STAY INDOORS
RICHIE TOLD JEN THE SAME THING. NO SENSE IN STRESSING THE BODY OUT TODAY.
FILLING JOHN IN AND DOING NIT NAT THINGS TOOK UNTIL AFTER 12 YESTERDAY.
BUT I DID EVERYTHING WITH MINIMAL STRESS AND QUIETLY.
BOTH OF US ARE JUST "DOING" STUFF AND NOT "DISCUSSING" THINGS.
HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE. WE'RE BASICALLY AGREEING TO DISAGREE......FINALLY AND WITH NO ARGUMENTS.
IT'S NOT REALLY ABOUT US BUT MORE ABOUT OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE.
SO NOW WE CAN ENJOY THE LAST FEW MONTHS BEFORE HE LEAVES AND THIS IS A LOAD OFF BOTH OUR HEADS.

NOTHING ELSE NEW HERE. WATCHED TV AND RESTED ALL AFTERNOON
I DID GO OUTSIDE FOR A FEW BUT KEPT COUGHING. AIR IS TERRIBLE!!!

CEEJAY.....I HAVE REMOTE KEYBOARD & MOUSE AND TO BE HONEST....I LOVE THE EASE
AND THERE IS NO "DRAG" ON THE MOUSE BEING WIRELESS....BUT.....THEY DO ACT UP ONCE AND AWHILE.
I'M NOT CRAZY ABOUT THAT PART. GUESS IT'S A CRAP SHOOT AS TO WHICH IS THE BEST.
HOPE YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU LIKE. GLAD TO HEAR THE A/C IS WORKING!!
I BET HE WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT THE MONITORS!!

MICHELLE........ A FRIEND OF MINE HAD THE SAME REACTION YOU DID.
WE WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND THAT WAS THE FIRST QUESTION THEY ASKED...ARE YOU USING NIACIN.
HIS DR HAD SAID TO USE IT FFOR THE GOUT THE GARDEN RING SOUNDS NICE AND Y
OU ARE ON BUSY GAL THIS MONTH!! HOPE WE ALL COOL OFF THIS WEEK!!!

LAURA........SWAYING TRAINS WOULD HAVE SCARED ME!! I AM NOT GOOD IN BAD WEATHER
SITUATIONS.....IT FREAKS ME OUT. I PRETEND TO BE CALM & COLLECTED FOR THE SENIORS BUT INSIDE I AM S H I T SCARED GLAD TO HEAR IT ENDED IN RAIN AND HOPE YOUR GRASS GOT IT'S SHARE! YOU CERTAINLY GOT A LOT DONE WITH THE HOUSE.
EVERYTIME YOU MENTION THE 3 SEASON ROOM I LOVE THE PICTURE IN MY MIND...12 WINDOWS!! BUT I WOULD LOVE IT!!!!!

SHAD.....RED SHIRTS NOT ONLY ATTRACT ATTENTION BUT THEY SPELL OUT " I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING"....AS IN AUTHORITY!!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE LAST 2 DAYS ALSO HOPE YOUR BODY IS FEELING MUCH BETTER WHILE YOU ARE RUNNING BACK AND FORTH!
  • Just a quick "Good Morning"! I'm crazy busy today...prepping for at work book club (have to read the last 10 pages of the section we're discussing - and since I'm the leader I dang well better do it!), an hour long training class (not the leader thankfully), and 2 or 3 meetings (I've lost count). Plus I have to get things finished in prep for meetings tomorrow.

I'll try and check back in later.

    Much love and many hugs,
  • Good morning girls, another hot hot steamy day in the southland. I feel badly for DH having to be outside doing yard work. No end in sight to this weather either. Not such a grand day back at work yesterday either.

Ha ha Michelle on the scrambling for the book club - I can soooo relate. Loved the book club discussions but I wasn't always good about planning my reading on time. I hope you can squeeze in those last few pages - go hide in the potty like the guys do I would love to see DH's new planter ring. Think you can post a shot once you have it filled it? Be careful bending over it. Yum on the fresh fruit. I did the same - just seems like you have to eat it quickly once you cut it up in the refrigerator. Thank you SO much for the tick repellant suggestion. I will definitely look it up. They say I will get used to them eventually but I don't know about that

Good morning Mel. Be careful in this heat - it is heavy on the chest - sometimes it feels like one has deep chest congestion from a cold and you certainly don't need that so keep out of the not so fresh air. Our new house has a ventilation system that exchanges the air every few hours - I think we need to get one for your apartment - would certainly help you out. Or you could just come to the compound and breathe but watch out for the darn ticks I'm glad you and John have come to an agreement to at least just get things done. Some guys can just be so resistant and stubborn. Hope the next guy is a cutie!

Annie - I would love to swim naked except the neighbors can see in. I am uncomfortable turning the lights off at night and swimming in the dark when I can't see so I guess it's clothes on for me Funny how we get more cautious when we get older. Poor thing you had to be a popsicle when you got out of work yesterday. Those coolers are not only cold but DAMP cold. Brrrrr. You sure do get around that store. What's this about insurance licensing? Is this for you to sell the stuff or an accredation for work? Don't fret about the studying - I find that we have more of a tendency to have the mind drift so we have to work harder at actual studying but I'm sure you will pass with flying colors. Start studying a bit at a time as early as you can to get used to it and not stress yourself out.

I'm not sure if it's the red shirt or just that people are able to see that there is a woman with a good head on her shoulders Shad that is drawing the attention to you. Can understand people being nervous about getting their pay straight. Never trust those computers when it comes to your money I see you are counting down the days. Ah freedom soon!

Laura - yes I have to leave DH home when I go to the casino. He plays to win - is there 45 minutes, wins some money and then wants to leave. I have a budgeted "entertainment fund" and I want to go play for a couple of hours. I pocket my winnings separately but why go for an hour? Funny how I've been gone 7 years from your area but still remember things there better than I do here. I am jonesing for a frozen lemonade from Garabaldi's - especially with this heat. I hear you on the goofiness of the insurance too - won't pay for a nightguard - used to be the same way with not paying for birth control pills yet they'd shell out all the money for a pregnancy Let me know when you find some decent looking comfortable dress shoes. I used to like Rockport's for comfort and pants dressiness but haven't found anything I really liked in a long time. In all the years I've taken the train, never had the car rock from the wind. That must have been some wind Glad everything was ok and you didn't get drenched.

Ceejay - glad you got the a/c back on. I'm sure they were more concerned about equipment than employee comfort. DH has a wireless mouse - I'm not so fond of it - I find it to be rather flaky of course it might just be the operator who's a nut

Hello Ellen - come out behind that mountain of clothes as they are just making more as fast as you can wash them

Time for me to get a move on. I need to stop and get gas this morning and pick up some milk and coffee creamer on my way in. Stay cool chicks...
  • Mornin' All...Had a hard time getting outta bed this morning. Didn't get to work til 7:50...oh well, I only take about a 15 minute lunch anyway.

Happy...the schooling and licensing is so I can talk to clients and brokers about insurance...not necessarily selling the stuff. Right now when they call in or I attend an enrollment meeting or sponsor a seminar, I am limited at what I can say, not being licensed. Probably a good thing...lol. It is going to be a scorcher here today also. 95 with a 110+ heat index. We will certainly melt.

Chelle...hope you find a bit of time for you today with all that is on your agenda. Take her easy and don't stress out or overdo it. Hugs

Mellie...so glad you and John are finally mellowing out with each other, what a great way to wrap up with his last couple of months. It will be much nicer for both of you. Stay inside during this heat spell, we do NOT need you in a sick mess again. I tell you, you are not minding me very well.

Hi's to the rest of yuns. Should probably delve into the mess on my desk....only 3 messages today, since I left last night. Whew whooo!!

    Love and hugs
  • The only thing I can say is that it is hot and humid. 100+ today with high humidity. At least the air is on and cooling properly. I'll come back later and post personals.
  • Morning all. Hot and humid here, but I've been in the office for a bit so I feel comfortable now.

Shad - Countdown has begun! Ha, people suddenly take an interest when their paychecks could be affected.

Michelle - Yeh, post a photo - I wanna see the flower ring too. I liked the Zumba class - I just have to get past being ticked off that I don't get all the routines down pat right away. Otherwise I love the music and the movements. I forgot how much fun it is when the music is a major part of the workout. In the other classes I've been taking, it's just in the background. So is this a business-related book club or a reading for pleasure
    book club?

Ceejay - 100+ temps - yikes! Hope you get to stay in the control room/AC all day!

Annie - Brrr, working in the cooler all night. The warmth must have felt good after that - for about 5 seconds, LOL. Good luck w/ your studies for the licensing exam! I KNOW you can do it!!

Happy - I had a pair of Rockports I loved years ago and then they never had that style again. I'll probably be checking into brands like Clarks, Born, Naturalizer, and, yeh, maybe Rockport. We'll see what I end up with.

Mel - Glad you and John are working together amicably during his last months. Def. stay inside if it's that bad out. I almost melted walking from the train to the office today!! I have to say the 3-season room might only be two seasons if this heat keeps up! We do have a ceiling fan and a combo heater/AC unit in there, but if I have to have the windows closed and the AC running out there, there's no point to being in there vs. other parts of the house. Maybe if the yard were nicer to look out at, it would be different... but at this point, I look out and tend to see all the things that need doing!

    Ellen

FYI re window washing - you might not want me to do your windows - I'm really not that good with the squeegee! Makes me happy that the only windows that need to be washed that way are the 3-season room windows and the front picture window. The rest swing in and can be done from inside. The bad news is that the 3-season window frames are now badly in need of painting. One of our ideas (dreams) was to replace some of those windows with french doors and have that room open out onto a nice paver patio. No $$ for that right now (ever???), so I think a paint job is in order. At least we can change the paint color to match the new soffit/fascia/gutters...

Well, I brought my workout stuff to work today - I'm gonna go to the fitness center today around lunchtime!! Bf and I went to dinner last night, so no exercise class. Tonight's movie night - "Larry Crowne", so no exercise class tonight. Don't want to feel guilty, so I decided I'd fit a workout in during the day. Give it a go. Come on - once a week - I can deal with that - right? RIGHT!!!

Bf is picking up my new (used) bike today. A practically new hybrid bike he found on Craigslist. The seller bought it last year at REI (brand is Marin), she'd only ridden it a few times, and still had the certificate for the free tune-up. So she took it in for the tune-up over the weekend and now it's ready to go. Now bf is hounding me to buy a new bike computer since my old one is kaput. Typical male! He has my old mountain bike posted on craigslist and already has one person who wants to see it. I'll be glad when all this bike stuff is done. Oops, need to tell him that the front deraileur on my commuter bike isn't working...

Okay, back to work. It won't do itself - dang it!
  • That's saying alot Ceejay. I left some cucumbers and tomatoes in my car. I'm wondering if I will have gaspacho when I leave tonight At least you can keep cool.

Hope you don't pull cooler duty again tonight Anne.

How nice that you were able to save some money on the bikes Laura through buying, swapping and selling. Love the idea of the 3 season room update. Someday - tell yourself someday. Just DON'T wait until you sell your house to do the upgrade. Do it when you can enjoy it.
  • Happy...no cooler for me tonight...not til Thursday. I think I will go home, put on my bathing suit and scar the neighbors for life. hahahaha, actually things need watered and Hella B needs to be outside for a bit....even tho she hates the hot temps and humidity...that is what she gets for not letting me cut her hair or bathe her. Altho I did chase her around the backyard the other day and drenched her, also tossed some Dawn soap on her. I figured if the penguins can take it to get oil off, she can take it to get the stentch off.

Laura...I heard that Larry Crowne movie was supposed to be pretty good. Let me know, I may want to see it. Sis and I are going to try to go see the Harry Potter movie this weekend. I don't care how the windows get washed, I would appreciate you doing them. I don't complain about help. I would even feed you and pamper you afterwards.

Ceejay..man, I am right there with you sista on that heat and humidity. Almost makes it hard to breathe and I don't have any issues about breathing.

Chelle must still be up to her armpits with work/meetings/docs. Come up for air, my sista friend.

    Stay cool/warm, whatever you need.

    Love and hugs,
  • I'm up for air for a minute between book club (business-related, sort of) and a meeting.

The book is called "Change Anything" and it's about how it takes more than sheer willpower to succeed at change. It's a book that can apply to so many things both work and non-work-related: time management, career advancement, weight loss, quitting smoking, improving relationships, etc.

Tonight, I'm planning on doing Ball Zumba, strength training, balance exercises that my PT has me do, and the always enjoyable (NOT) planks. After all that, I'm not sure I'll be up to posting, but I promise to post tomorrow.

    Love you all lots,
  • Well over here it is cold and dry. We are having the coldest spells in years right now. When I left home this morning the temp thingy in the car said 3.5C and it got down to 2 up the road a bit. That is really cold for this part of the world. Next thing we will have ice!!!!

Annie - seize the opportunity for study - keeps your mind off other things and keeps the brain active. I'm all for keeping the brain active.

Happy - red shirt or not, I actually don't mind doing a walk around the place from time to time. It alleviates the need to do more typing. It amuses me that these people couldn't find the time to go to training but they are panicking over a simple transaction re their pay. And it is not as if they won't get paid at least their basic wage either.
Get swimming girl. Last chance for a swim at your own pool. It will start to cool off shortly and then you will move.

Mel - good to see John and you are coming to a mutually satisfying place. Both of you need to steer carefully around the next few weeks.
Yes my gut feels much better now but it is not up to a big steak yet. I haven't had much meat in a while and at the moment, I am not even missing it.

Laura - come and do my windows puhleeeeeeeeese. I don't have that many, but I don't clean them often (like nearly never ever) either.

Ceejay - Hope the a/c is restored and you are back in the cool again. Here we are turning up the heat in the mornings

Michelle - hope you are taking the gardening easy and not doing too much with that back. Go get those pages read. We'll stand watch for you while you grab a coffee, put your feet on your desk and get on with it.

Better get on with the day. 2 full days to go. I'm outa here. Have to make a decision on what to do next. Wouldn't mind a couple of weeks off though.
  • Shad
You deserve a couple of weeks off. Ooohhhh what I wouldn't give for some of that "cool" weather.

    Michelle
The a.c. was reestored yesterday morning. it was the compressor. And as soon as it cooled off during the night the a.c. came back on. They had some one to clean it the next morning. It's till 80 degree's inside but once you step outside you appreciate what we have. I'm praying that the one at home stay's on for the next couple of day's. My sister and bil will be here. Mom had ringed flower bed's. I like them. What do you have planted in them?

    Annie
If you need me to work in the cooler give me a call. I bet Hella liked getting squirted with the water hose. I was washing out the aerator screens this morning and accidently sprayed myself. It felt good.

    Laura
I don't mind cleaning windows. My outside window I turn the water hose on them. Guess I should do the ones on the inside when I'm on vacation in August.

    Happy
Think you should get in the pool when you have a chance even if it's to cool off.

    Mel and Ellen Stay cool.

  • Good morning ladies,

I have to do a quick post today as I had to do some things this morning that took away from my me time. Went for a short swim last night - the water is almost 90 degrees. That mean no brrrrrrr effect when you get into the pool but also means after a few laps it gets kind of hot. They say we might get a little rain today but not much of a break in this heat. It's oppressing and tiring. Actually it's the very very high humidity that is the killer. I don't remember it being this hot last year and I know it was warm because I swam almost every day for 2 months. I think DH has lost at least 30 pounds working in this every day.

Not much else going on that is interesting at the moment. Hope you ladies can stay cool. I'll be back at lunch. See yahs
  • Good Wednesday/Hump Day/Trash Day to you all...

My co-worker brought me a White Mocha from Starbucks this morning...just because. I will miss her as she is the one that got axed and not just because of the Starbucks...lol. We have gotten a lot closer since the lay off last July.

Shaddie...I agree on the keeping the brain active. For some reason I am apprehensive about the whole school thing and mostly about passing the test. I just need to build my confidence up. Now you only have one more day to go, and by all means you deserve a couple of weeks off. Wouldn't that be perfect!

Chelle...glad you finally came up for air. I worry about you sista. Be sure to get your rest and do what is good for your back AND lungs. Do NOT over do it or I will have to take that road trip to see you and Mellie for the lashing.

MELLIE...we must be on the same, "I'm starving" schedule. I stopped at McDonald's and got a yogurt parfait. (Vanilla yogurt with fresh frozen strawberries and blueberries). Left the granola off the top to save calories. I feel something coming on...wink wink...so I better get on with this post...

Mgr is here from Louisville today, so it will be h*ll on wheels. Hello's to everyone...stay cool/warm...for me it is warm in the over ACd building and cool outside in the heat of h*ll.

DD just stopped by to give me my B12 shot...better go...

    Love and hugs
