When it's 70 degrees out and your stuck in an office, looking outside, it's like pure torture! Way too nice to be stuck at work. I did have tomorrow scheduled off, but had to trade a day with a coworker. Next Friday I'll have off--I predict snow, rain, and tornados for THAT weekend! It could be worse...I could have your type schedules. I am spoiled with the 8-5 and weekends off!
Holly, I don't miss the dog duty at all! With former Saint Bernard's it was like land mines instead of yard sausages!
You all are like angels! I'm terrible. It's hard to not cheat on eating. I, no kidding, got up in the middle of the night and ate half a box of wheat crackers and a soda. Not that I was hungry, or wide awake, or any other "good" excuse. I was falling asleep eating them for cryin' out loud!! I have no idea what gets into me. (besides crackers! Hehe!) There was NO reason for that. I don't know why I did it. It was stupid! I was sleep-eating! made me do it! Good for you to have such good willpower!
Well it is a Great Afternoon and we have reached 50 degrees so I am going to go get the bike out for just a bit- even without front brakes but the back ones work great- I won't go far but just have to do it Snow and rain coming tomorrow and back into the 30's we go
Thanks Holly for getting those websites for me I will check them out tonight when we get home You are the greatest
Well girls I have still resisted the cookie but let me tell you last about 10 I was so going to get one then I decided just go to bed so thats what I did however DH has not been as strong I got up to go potty and went right back to bed which must have woke DH up so he gets up goes to kitchen and he is in there for quite some time but when I woke up I noticed a couple of cookies were missing so he must have ate them in the middle of the night - Oh well he knows to save me one and only one
Well girls I will check back in later I am going to get the bike out for a bit
Tammy taking trips is what we like to do instead of gifts as well- Our anniversay is Jan 7th and my birthday is Feb 1 so we take a warm vacation for both
TGIF thank goodness
Tammy I forgot to mention yesterday that I do tan alittle as well - I know the risks but I am not tanning everyday - I get a base tan going then I usually tan once maybe twice a week just to keep it going and I am an easy burn so I only get in bed for no more than 7 minutes on occasion maybe 8 but usually 7- it does make you feel good and if you can get alittle power nap in
You have every right to have the whole package you have done such a wonderful job and you look amazing so enjoy it girl
Well we are snowing and only like 30 degrees out to day I want yesterday back so I can ride again - I did ride and boy was it nice
Off to work I will check back in later
Wow Holly you weren't kidding when you said they were spendy- $399 way to much I bet yours looks way better than theirs even- so now off to check out the other websites you sent me - wasn't to fond of those ones anyways and do you really think that if you put crystals on your helmet that it will change the DOT status like they state it could possibly?
Hey girls! I've been lurking for a few days, decided to say hello. I am riding my first bike, an '08 Vulcan 500 (have to start small for the first couple years or pay outrageous insurance here). We bought it used with only 2,000 km on it, so it's still brand new. Hubby surprised me with it back in August for my 40th birthday and I just love her. I've been a passenger since I was a teen and always wanted my own but life, family, and finances always had different ideas.
Speaking of helmets, it sounds strange to hear you say you don't wear them. It's law here so it's just second nature to us. I paid $600 (on sale) for my Shoei helmet, but I also have a half helmet that was $100. I actually prefer the full-face Shoei. It's all in what you get used to. A neighbor I ride with can't stand a full-face helmet.
Also want to send congrats to Tammy for reaching and surpassing goal. You must be over the moon!!
Welcome Wildfire- Well to start off we have a few thinks in common of course the obvious RIDING- but I just turned 40 in February as well oh and another we are riding into Canada this summer before heading into Sturgis but I think our ride plan takes into Manitoba, Sasketwan(sp?), Calgary and then back into the states I believe
Oh helmets well we do not have a helmet law so therefore I have never worn one because of that -I do have a novelty helmet for when we ride into states that require a helmet but going into Canada and going through customs I thought I had better get a DOT helmet so they don't turn us around for that
My name is Reda and I have been riding for 11 years and I started out with a 650 yamaha vstar but then went to a 1100 Vstar and then 2 summers ago bought my chopper and love it. I have 2 boys who are 19 & 20 and also ride and race So summers are super busy around my house
We are all a great group of internet friends here as we are all spread apart across the states, we do talk about anything and everything and support each other 100%-
Weekends sometimes get a little scarce on here especially with the nicer weather lurking around but Holly, Tammy, Collen, and Hopeful8 will chime in as well
Ok well girls I lost 2.6 pounds this week even with going to Deadwood last weekend so I was doing the happy dance this morning
I also am now in my middle size jeans as I have 3 different sizes which means about 10-15 more pounds I will be in my smaller jeans well the smallest I have been in since having children and that is where I am comfortable at as well so I am going to start working harder but I am really happy with the 2 pounds per week you know for me that means exercising more than half hour a day walking ..... I may need a kick in the butt because I have gotten so off track with the exercise over the last 3 months
Well girls I suppose I should get off here and try to get some stuff done around the house so I will check in later hope you are having a great day
Welcome Wildfire, and thanks for the congrats! You are right, I am over the moon excited. My name is Tammy, I am 36. My DH bought me my first bike almost 3 years ago. It was a 96 Honda Shadow 1100. Then I got an 08 HD Roadster Sportster, but only kept if for about 9 months b/c my DH and I were going to Vegas to get married and everyone swore the sportster would be too uncomfortable, so I got an 09 Dyna Superglide. I love her! The ride to Vegas was awesome on her. I have 2 boys, 1 is 20, he is leaving in April to go to Kosovo in the military, the other is 16. We all ride as a family, like the other ladies on here. For that reason (b/c the boys were in HS) I just got in the habit of a helmet. I rarely ride without one. We are in a no helmet law state, however Memphis, TN is a stones throw away and it is a helmet law state, in fact all the states around us are.
CC,- It is freaking awesome that you lost 2.6 pounds and still went to Dearwood! I am so proud for you. I am also proud you are into smaller sizes. I am in the size I was before I had kids also. It is wonderful. My youngest son has his friends comment all the time about my WL! It feels great. I want you to know everyone I tell about the vodka/crystal lite drink knows who you are. It is like it is the "ChopperChick" special drink for WL. Lol.
I love the helmet design. It is so fitting! I am with you..... I would not pay $399 for a helmet for me..... but I did get an ACDC full face helmet for my son that was regularly $400 on sale for $169. He loves that helmet. When he broke his arm on the bike, he was not worried about his arm.... he wanted to make sure the helmet was not hurt. Lol. My DH said, well he has his priorities. Lol.
Holly, Colleen, how are you two?
We did not ride today we went to a bike show. We could have ridden if DS did not go with us, but he is not ready for Memphis on a bike yet..... well-- he maybe but my nerves are not. Lol.
I am going to get off here. Y'all have a good day.
good evening and welcome Wildfire! it will be nice to have you here with us
Reda, CONGRATS!!! on being down another 2+ pounds!! you are doing soooo well I love that chopper rhinestone piece, how perfect for you. Huh, that is weird about the disclaimer about the DOT thing...how could putting crystals on your helmet invalidate it as DOT approved..?
Hi Tammy (She Who Is Below Goal )
Hi Colleen! are you still having warm weather?
Well so much for me carefully washing my hands at work all the time, I came home last night feeling 'off' and woke up with a head cold Sneezing, sinus pressure, and awful runny nose all day, just feeling yuk . I feel somewhat lucky because I haven't had a cold since last April. But ugh. I am going to go to bed soon, rest always feels good.
Our string of incredible warm, sunny days came to an end today. Overcast and cool. Now our highs will be in the low 40's for a few days.
Thanks for the welcome! I've been around on and off for a long time, and I used to read the biker chicks thread a few years back. When I'm here I hang out with the Royals here in the Support Forum.
Reda, how do you feel about being 40? It really didn't bother me, but I don't feel 40. In my mind I'm still about 27! That's quite the ride you have planned on the way to Sturgis. I've never had a customs guard ask about my helmet when crossing either way to/from the States, but we have to have DOT helmets anyway. Better to be safe than sorry - it would be awful to get that one guard who decides to check and turns you around! Congrats on sending those 2.6lbs on their way!
Tammy, I spent a lot of time on the back of a '96 Sportster riding with a neighbor. He got a Road King a couple of years ago, and it's a gorgeous bike, but honestly I liked the Sporty better! The Road King has that full passenger seat with arms and takes away that thrill of being on the back of a bike in my opinion. It's cool that you girls ride as families. My DH bought me the bike, but he doesn't ride. I made him take the safety course and get licensed when I did, just so he knows how to move my bike if I ever need him to and it's all legal. He bought a 2010 Dodge Challenger last summer and the neighbors tease him that he just needed something cool to park next to my bike!
VermontMom, I hope you get over the cold quickly. I'm just over one myself - it's on the go everywhere here. Good excuse to get some extra rest. Feel better!
Oh Holly so sorry you are getting a cold but you are also not having so great of weather so get it over with before it gets warm and you want to ride
Tammy how was the bike show - totally understand driving instead of having son ride into town- we took the boys out to Sturgis on an off weekend a couple of times before we took them over Sturgis - just so that they were familiar with the roads and all - but then again that has been like 4 shoot maybe 5 years ago.
Wildfire well turning 40 really didn't bother me a bit, you know I have been saying I couldn't wait till I turned 40 because then I would get to start living life because the boys will be of age and we would be able to do what we want when we want per say- I mean if we want to take off for a weekend then we can, now we can just let them know that we are heading out of town and good to go
Ya as for helmet we want to play it safe so I will shop went to Harley Shop last night but didn't find one that I like or course without spending $200 and of course I don't want to spend $200 on one so I will keep looking....
Well girls I should get off here and start getting some stuff done before I have to get my meals planned out for the week Have a great Sunday
Holly, add me to the feel like poop- mini thread. Since I hit goal.... I have been in the bathroom non stop and my back is killing me! It is hard to walk. I can't imagine how I am going to do boot camp tomorrow I hope your cold clears up. At least it is not pretty outside and both of us are missing riding days.
Wildfire, LOL at your husband having to get a challenger to park next to your bike. That is funny.
CC, you know, now that I read your post about the crystals, I remembered I wanted my first helmet custom painted and they would not do it b/c it would not be DOT anymore. They said it breaks down that "shell" that is the safe part. I had totally forgotten that.
Colleen, how are you?
I will be back later today. I am off to have lunch with my oldest son. Might as well eat a good one.... it won't stay down.
