And Annie snuck in there while I was cogitating. Glad to hear that all is going well and that you are back and at work again.

Woohoo Annie

So glad that you are "loving" your new job. We asked the teacher if they could lower and raise the temperature. Stay warm

Michelle

Good morning ladies,

It's a cold one out there. Must be a damp cold lately because I am REALLY freezing.

Like you Ceejay - have had a sinus headache every day when I get up. Must be something in the air. You would think the frost would kill it if it was mold based or something.

Shad, I think after almost 5 years and over 50,000 cigarettes not smoked, I think I have finally kicked the habit - tho I think a little part of me will always be vunerable so no getting cocky here. But I agree with you, people carrying it on their clothing and person is probably enough to irritate you without it being obvious. Especially if you feel better when you aren't around it. It's funny that most of the people smoking at work now are the Indian contractors. I just read an article the other day that the World Health Organization is going to start targeting countries like India and China where over 40 percent of the population smokes. That's hard to believe in this day and age. I think they pushed it out of Great Britain and they are surely cutting it out here. And DH was amused by your news stories too. We talked about it yesterday. Bully for those dads!

Annie - so what did you get trained on? Hate it when you have to sit in a freezing room like that. Unlike most people who stay alert when they get cold, it puts me to sleep. I think I'd be the first man down in a blizzard Glad you made the trip up and back safe and sound. Now I bet you can't wait to go to work

Michelle - that's a bummer with the MLM scheme. DH asked for some info on something he saw from the Internet and we got baraged by phone calls. They called at least a dozen times in one day. I think they are really preying on people now.

Madcat - glad to hear you had fun with Carla. At least you got her to the right subway. I wouldn't be surprised if you found her standing in the tunnel, joining in song with one of the street players

I told DH to strap on his mouthguard - it's going to be another teeth gritting day on the financial markets. I don't know what else to do but sit tight. I don't disagree with the Republicans (for a change). Our unions are very powerful and I think they are every bit as much as a problem. In today's world, we have all had to make concessions. DH's large international company no longer provides free medical care to pensioners, much less their families and everyone else they drag under the umbrella. And he has taken pay cuts. I don't expect a raise any time soon. Let the companies go under, break the unions and start over again if they won't be reasonable.

And with that, I will be on my way today. Have a good one.

Happy Friday -

What a week! So glad the weekend is nearly here. I went to the doc last night and got some good news...Blood Sugar is still in the normal range! yay! My cholesterol, however, needs my attention. So that's what I'm gonna do...work diligently to lower my weight, lower my bad cholesterol, and increase my good cholesterol.

I really appreciate all the good vibes you're sending for my DH . He has his second round of interviews this morning for a job he'd really like!

Mel - Do you have any great tasting, easy to prepare, heart healthy, cholesterol-lowering recipes??

Annie - I'm SOOOO happy for you that you enjoyed your training! Yay! When do you start your new job? Is it near where you live? As for my DH insurance sales fiasco....the weird thing was...this insurance company was advertising for a network administrator - a computer network administrator - nothing about sales. The fact is they lied to get people to come in for an interview and then scam them into believing how much potential money there is to be made in MLM and in preying off the insurance needs/fears of the elderly and low-income. Definitely NOT something my DH has any interest in.

Shad - DH was very cross (major understatement) about the MLM company making him drive 40 miles for an interview under false pretenses. There was no job for him...it was a classic bait and switch scam. They obviously think that if they get people to come in to interview for jobs that have nothing to do with sales and don't even exist, they can convince the interviewees to change their career objectives and start preying on low-income individuals.

Ceejay - Thanks for the good vibes. I hope your sinuses clear up and that you feel better.

Happy - for staying smoke-free! I hope your sinuses clear up very soon. It's amazing how many companies won't even allow smoking on the premises (indoors or outdoors) here.

Here's to a great Friday and a fun/relaxing weekend ahead for all of us!

Love and hugs to all,

DH GOT A JOB!

He was offered (and accepted) a Network Administrator position with a nonprofit organization that assists immigrants (mostly Hispanic) with job placement, childcare, educational and other social services. He starts on 12/22. The pay is a little more than he was making, which will help since the commute is a little bit further. We are both SO happy and so relieved!

Anyway, I've got to get a few more things done before I leave for the day. I'll try and check in tomorrow.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and :!

Love and hugs,

That's two down, now we have to start preparing for Nae's DS and Annies DD. Can we make it three out of three or 4 out of four??? I hope so.
Congratulations Michelles DH - I'm proud of you.

So it is Saturday, and I am back to yell some more at the IT help desk. Since I can't get to the person responsible for this fiasco of the logins for my people, the help desk will get to wear it. Yesterday after 9 calls for 9 problems and getting 9 different answers from 9 different IT people, I have now got at least two different stories for each problem, two different reasons as to why it hasn't been fixed, two different reasons as to why the problem originated and I have found the way to deal with it.
I ring them up, introduce myself, ask them how they are, launch into the problem and give them the computer number. Before they have a chance to tell me the fault is mine for not doing something, I remind them that the problem has been with them since 29th October and here is the ticket number. And then I tell them that if the problem is that a form has not been filled in or correctly filled in, then how come that out of the 36 people whose names were put forward for the same login details (apart from the name) and the same securities and permissions on the same forms for all, how is it that half of them got the right stuff and half didn't. I don't let them get too many words in and eventually they get hacked off and they just go and do as I asked! I'm waiting for confirmation of the fix for 2 of the problems this morning and am about to go hunting for answers to the rest. Life is sweet. I should have been a detective or a forensic person or maybe a lawyer. No, no not the latter.

Ceejay - get one of those nasal inhalers and keep sniffing. I've found it is the best thing for swollen and sore sinus and it beats popping pills all the time. Feel better soon.

Happy - I just find it strange that these people - supposedly among the worlds poorest are the last to kick the smoking habit. And the stuff they smoke is revolting. Maybe it is even more addictive than the stuff we get. I know when I was in Japan, smoking was actually on the increase there, not decrease and the smoking carriages in the trains were just horrendous. Unfortunately a lot of young women were taking it up. The first visit I had to Japan very few women smoked and it was indeed frowned upon. Now it's like every second young one smokes. The older ones never seem to take it up.
Glad DH enjoyed the NT news stories. Came from the same sort of place that the Alice Springs Zoo break in occurred. Nothing else ever came of that one. I checked it out the other day.

Okay - best go sort out the IT department. They have been outsourced and I'd like to clear this lot up BEFORE I have to deal with India.

I thought I read that the tobacco companies were marketing hard to third world countries - not that Japan is third world.

I know when I started in the 70's it was targeted as an appetite suppressant, weight loss tool. But that only lasted for just the tiniest time.

one on one smoke doesn't bother me, but 4 or more in a group and the cloud really gets to me. And yep, it REALLY stinks 10 times worse on a person when they come in from the cold. I can tell the smokers at Walmart, their coats just reek of stale tobacco. I sure hope I never smelled that bad but not a worry now.

Time to head home now...

GOOD MORNING CHICKS OF THE WORLD. I HAVE RETURNED. I HAD ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS SLEEP THAT YOU PRAY FOR. I WAS OUT LIKE A LIGHT AND HAD ALL NICE DREAMS. IN ,MY DREAMS EVERYTHING WAS GOING SO WELL AND EVERYONE WAS HAPPY.....UNLIKE THE DAY YESTERDAY. FOR SOME REASON EVERYONE WAS AT EACH OTHERS THROATS AND I FELT LIKE THE LOCAL FIREMAN PUTTING OUT EACH BLAZE AS THEY ERUPTED. SOMETIMES I WONDER WHO DIED AND LEFT ME GOD? OR WHY DO I BOTHER? IS IT MY FATE IN LIFE TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY? MUST HAVE BEEN THE FULL MOON. I WAS LOOKING ON THE PC FOR IT AND FOUND THAT IT WAS THE FULLEST AT ABOUT 11:38AM. THAT IS JUST ABOUT THE SAME TIME A NASTY NOTE TO TENANTS WAS BEING TYPED, PRINTED AND LATER HANDED OUT. YES THE "STRUGGLE FOR CONTROL OF THE COMMUNITY ROOM" SAGA CONTINUES. SPENT HOURS WITH PEOPLE CALLING ME AND KNOCKING ON THE DOOR BUT I THINK THAT MAYBE THIS TIME THERE MIGHT JUST BE SOME LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. REMAINS TO BE SEEN.
JEN AND I HAD SOME GOOD TIME TOGETHER THESE PAST 3 DAYS AND I THINK OUR HOLIDAY PLANS ARE RESOLVED. IF THEY DO HAVE THE CHANCE TO BE WITH THE KIDS THEN THEY SHOULD TAKE IT. END OF STORY.
I AM SO WELL RESTED TODAY THAT I SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE MESSY HOUSE!!! AND DO ALL THINGS CHRISTMASSY TODAY
HAPPY SATURDAY/SUNDAY AND I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY YOUR WEEKENDS!!!

Hi kids,

Oh Mel. I just realized that your penquin is doing the Macarena. Akkk. Hide me eyes! Not only is it a full moon but yesterday the moon was at it's closest to earth, and bigger than usual - so sure - I fully believe it stirs up the wierdos. I guess when you are born a people pleaser, you will always be that way no matter what we tell you MEL. I'm sure there are people who appreciate it, I'm even more sure there are seniors who have regressed into children who crave attention, even if they have to make a ruccous. ??? But when you've had enough of adult day care, hang up the gone fishin' sign and head up to your retreat. Just remember to turn off the phone when you go up there. Maybe Santa needs to send you some noise cancelling headphones and an I-pod stocked with soothing music so you can keep them out of your head So what did you do Christmasy today?

I went to the craft store - had some coupons and bought some ribbon and baskets for presents. Got a few more sprays of poinsettas and finished my potted fake poinsetta. It's not bad looking. With a bunch of cats around I can't risk having real ones. I have nice smelling real pine garland on the fireplace mantle held in place with big red bows. And I got a wreath for on the house at half price and bought several picks (decorations) and made a pretty wreath out of it. I have decided not to put up a tree this year, not even the pull it out of the box and plug it in small fiber optic tree. I have a few decorations around the house, it looks a little festive - just not over done. And once I get off of here I really need to get my Christmas letter and cards done or they won't get done at all. And I don't want to waste the money I spent on cards and stamps again. Oh and while we were at the craft store there was this arrangement I was oogling over at Thanksgiving. It's about 3 feet high and consists of 2 large balls of poinsettias with ribbon and silver ornaments in a footed pot. I just loved it for the outside entrance. I talked myself out of spending that much money last time but today it was on sale and I had a coupon for an additional 20 percent off. It was the only one left and I smiled sweet at DH (I also could not reach it from where it was) and he got it down and carried it for me. It looks so pretty out front. 2 would have looked better but...

Ok, guess this is enough for now. Think I'll go make a cup of hot chocolate, strap on my I-pod and listen to some of the 296 songs I copied from my Christmas CD collection.

Hope you get a good night's make up sleep tonight Ceejay.

Shad my buddy, I hope you are not working the weekend.

Carla - would be nice if you are home back in comfort.

No snow for you Miss Michelle - can't say the same for Madcat and Ruth cuz after all, they are in CANADA

I am imagining just how gorgeous the full moon and a sky full of stars is out your way Nae.

I'm sure right now Annie is snugging up with Tony.

Welcome to Sunday14th December
It's a good day because:
1. I can leave work early
2. It is only 5 days exactly until I fly home - that's 120 hours or 7200 minutes (but then who is counting)
3. Tonight will be my last washing day at the camp, unless I have enough powder left to do another wash Wednesday morning. I ain't buying any more.
3. It is the last Sunday I will work for a while.
4. It's a lovely warm day out there it was beautiful see at the beach this morning all calm and reflective.
5. I woke up, I am alive. It is all good

And as I said, we've had some wonderful weather here - just look at my view and weep!!!
This was my view of moonset yesterday morning.

Today we had reflections:

Now you gotta admit that's not hard to take at 7.am on a Sunday morning is it? Even Happy might get out of bed for that!

I'll try to get some more up later when I return for Personals. Happy has just appeared on my screen so I'd better figure out what she is up to.
