Okay, Mel, glad you got a good laugh. I guess this week has drove me to insanity and I'm repeating myself. BTW, did I mention that I've been driven to insanity and am repeating myself? repeating myself....repeating myself........

I forgot to DVR BL the other night. But I did watch Grey's Anatomy (one of my fave shows) last night. This weekend will be mostly watching sports on TV....Brewers games (hoping they get into the playoffs), Packers game (hoping they win).

I really enjoy doing the exercise classes. I don't have as much fun when I just do the treddie or the elliptical - too boring I guess. I do want to get to the gym more often next week....working back up to 4 or 5 days a week.

Morning all,
Quick fly by for me unfortunately. I've been painting and need to get cleaned up. Apparently we are to have visitors this afternoon. DS2 has invited a section of the population to a bbq at our place. Miss Puss will not be pleased. Only found out yesterday and the place is not exactly clean and tidy - painting and sanding does that to one. and the yard is not toddler friendly so I need to race around and pick up and clear the yukky dangerous stuff. The fridge is full of food and DS2 won a meat tray in a raffle at the pub last night. I can see us eating out the fridge for a week.

So I am off to shower and get some of this paint off me before it sets hard and then clean up the painting gear - yes I have painted three walls this morning and all before 9.00am. Ran into a big problem yesterday with the 4th wall - bloody thing peeled as I was putting the sealer on. So it's back to the think tank for that wall. Anyway - gotta go. Have a good day, don't forget to swear, and keep moving!

I did go to the doctor but here in town. My shoulder and lower back have been bothering me again. The doctor tells me that he thinks it's arthritis. The joy's of getting older.

My aunt called tonight to tell me that they would be on vacation next week end and to see if I were coming up tomorrow. I told her that I wouldn't be coming this week end. They are going to Branson. I told them to be sure and go see my nephew's wife. Sigh I still haven't got to see her perform.

I went to pay my light bill and chatted with the girls in the light office for a bit. HR person asked me how I was feeling and I told her better and that I didn't like the feeling of being both mentally and physically exhausted. I asked her very politely to talk to the plant manager about going to eight hour shifts. I doubt that she will.

Happy
Congratulations on being VP.

Mel
Good for you in standing your ground. That's what I'm going to have to start doing.

Michelle
Repeat yourself all you want to.

Shad
Enjoy the bbq.

MICHELLE....GOD BLESS YOUR ENERGY. I THINK THAT IS WHAT I LOOK FOR IN YOUR POSTS EACH DAY. AND THAT IS HOW YOU GOT YOUR RESULTS WITH WEIGHT AND DIABETES CONTROL. MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU!
AND PLEASE DO NOT GO INSANE...I MIGHT HAVE TO FOLLOW YOU

CEEJAY...I AM KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED ANYWAY FOR YOUR WORK WEEK TO SHORTEN. MAYBE SOMEONE WILL LISTEN. HOPE YOUR WEEKEND IS CONTINUING ON A RESTFUL COURSE!

SHAD....I "SWEAR AND KEEP MOVING" EVERY DAY AND ALL DAY LONG ALREADY
HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH THE BBQ!!

HAPPY....CRACKING ME UP AGAIN THIS MORNING...THANKS!

I'M SORRY FRIENDS BUT WHEN YOU ARE STRESSED IT SEEMS THAT I FIND LAUGHING AT OTHERS A STRESS RELIEVER!! MAYBE WHEN YOU ARE IN A PISSY MOOD THINGS BECOME FUNNIER THAN THEY REALLY ARE OR THE HUMOR GETS WARPED
SOCKED IN WITH FOG, RAIN AND WINDS. THE TOWN BBQ IS CANCELLED FOR TODAY AND MAYBE EVEN TOMORROW. THAT'S OK WITH ME. I WAS GOING TO GIVE IT A MISS THIS YEAR. NOT IN THE MOOD FOR PRETENDING TO BE NICE TO THAT SIZE CROWD AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET AROUND THEM! THIS YEAR I MIGHT JUST RUN ONE OF THEM OVER I NEED TO CLEAN OUT THE FRIDGE A BIT AND REARRANGE MY NEW STUFF. IT'S A BIT UNORGANIZED IN THERE. THAT IS ALL I HAVE PLANNED FOR TODAY. SO FAR THE ACCOUNTANTS WILL NOT BE COMING ON WEEKENDS...I THINK. WE'LL SEE. ONLY PROB WITH THAT IS I LOSE THAT HOLIDAY TIP.
JEN MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO PAINT THE NEW DOORS WHEN THEY COME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. THAT'S MORE MONEY LOST. THIS YEAR'S END IS FULL OF CHANGES AND I GOULD SENSE IT COMING ON MONTHS AGO. AS FAR AS LOSING SOME OF THIS WORK GOES...IT'S TO OUR ADVANTAGE...HEALTH WISE.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

Good morning girls,

Off to a fine start indeed. I am showered and dressed on a Saturday morning by 8am. Need to run to the bank this morning for some neighborhood business. Don't tell anyone (ESPECIALLY DH) but this getting up early and getting a head start might not be too bad.

I have lots to do this weekend as well as some fun things like a pedicure and there is a craft show this weekend that I'd like to go to tho I don't really need to spend the money - tho it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts. I'm feeling the urge to get organized so I need to maximize that.

Going to see the doctor this week - the hip is getting worse and the pain is spreading out.

Mel, I have mixed feelings about losing the cash. On one hand, when money is tight as it is, it makes it harder to make ends meet. However, as you said sometimes the money is not worth the "real price". I hope you can make things work out.

I find that when I get in a "pissy mood" that it's sort of manic thing - you go from anger to tears to rolling on the floor laughing - zero to 60. Laughter is a great way of getting us out of Funky Land.

Ceejay - now that the weather is starting to dip cooler I do find that it excites the arthritis - feel better - take an Ibuprophen if you really need one. A hot shower first thing in the morning seems to calm things too.

Oh boy Shad. I can't imagine trying to clean up sanding stuff on the fly for company. I think DS needs a twack in the arm But if anyone can, you can. Hope you can at least enjoy yourself. What color are you painting?

Michelle - I second Mel on you being a busy bee. It's great that you can get such a variety of classes at night. Most of the clubs here offer their classes during the daytime hours, particularly the starter classes. I'm afraid I am just not up to the skinny minny power kick jump and squeal classes they have at night tho I do keep eyeing the Tuesday morning sunrise yoga class when I see the sign at the gym. Hope you have a nice cuddle up weekend with the dogs and DH.

Annie - hope you are getting ready to face the world on your terms again.

Good thoughts to you Ruth

Shy, Madcat, Carla, Patty

DH is sampling some blues music for some reason next to me. It's pretty loud and not my kind of music. I think it's time I moved to the other side of the house while I wait for my ride to pick me up Have a good Saturday all.

Mel
Right now I care about my health more than the over time. I'm telling my boss that I'm not a young chick anymore. They are going to get used to it.

Happy
I tell myself that I really need to sleep in on my day's off and this week end I have needed the extra sleep. Most of the time I get up at the usual time.

Shad
How did the bbq go?

Ruth
How are you doing these days? Hugs, we miss you.

Annie, Michelle, Madcat, Patty and the other's a big hello

Lot's to get done today. Back to work tomorrow,

Morning all,
Barbeque went off just fine, thank you. Although there is way too much food in the fridge. The DS2 overcatered as per normal. We will be eating our way through it for the next week. The weather is so glorious at the moment that we spent most of the time outdoors, only coming in when the breeze got to cool for our hot house tomato bodies. Heck the Canadians would have slept out there and thought nothing of it. There was a footy final on last night and the boys would have come in to watch it anyway. We just joined them.
Got cleaned up in the house and went to bed around 11.30pm. No need for an early rise this morning so I read in bed.
As for me doing sanding and renovations, my friends are so used to it now that they don't even mention it.

So today will be probably trying to work out where to put the furniture from the bedroom now that I am back to sanding again. I may just shift it up to one end of the room while I work on the other end. Lots of dust sheets, lots of open doors etc.etc. Mind you I will have to shift the lot out when the new floor is laid, so it may be worth thinking about it now.

Happy - I was going to paint the bedroom same as the hall and living areas, but I am since sort of changing my mind because the soft yellow will limit the use of soft decoration - I want to be able to change the look of the room with duvet covers and pillows etc. so I am opting (I think) for a pale aquamarine colour - not blue, not green and very restful. White trim and wooden floor should be able to put most colours with that - or my other choice is to go with a cream shade (with yellow not brown - don't like beiges) and that will definitely take any colour I throw at it. So it remains to be seen what I end up with. It definitely will not be RED!

Ceejay - the only way I know of to deal with arthritis is to keep the joints moving. Doesn't have to be violent movement, just constant movement. Otherwise you will cripple yourself and be old and withered before your time. As for getting older, the more we convince ourselves we are old and useless, then the more we become so. Time to get the brain moving on other things my friend. My dad had a very active brain and body until the day he died and only admitted to arthritis in one finger, however I know he had other places which hurt as well, he just refused to let it take over. Check out our Ruth - not sure whether she has made 70 yet but there is one active and smart lady. And if you are looking for inspiration closer to home, then take a look at Mel. She inspires as a person who refuses to accept disability as an excuse. And when we are thinking about inspirational qualities, all three above had or have a weight problem which if left unchecked would affect the quality of their lives. Ruth has diabetes, Mel is in a wheelchair and my father had heart disease. I don't hear any of them complaining too much of age.

If I really get on my soapbox here (this is not directed at Ceejay, but a thought for us all to delve into and think about). In my opinion (and it is not humble) far too much emphasis is placed on age. To my way of thinking, age is a state of mind. A chronological horror that man has visited upon himself to ensure that history is accurate. Bah humbug. History is not accurate, most of what we know about the past has been passed down through work of mouth, and we all know how accurate Chinese whispers are. I've seen 70 and 80 year olds competing in marathons, veterans games, chess tournaments and trivia nights. Who could forget the Australian Cliff Smith who RAN from Sydney to Melbourne (near enough 1000 miles) just so he could say he finished. He didn't have any intention of winning - although I think he scooped the prize for the number of running shoes he destroyed, and it took him a long time. Why did he do it, not to win but to prove he could still plan and execute a project even in his 80's. Apparently these days if you've pushed 40, then you are history - well sorry I don't subscribe to that and I intend fully to be active and intelligent right up to the last minute. I have every intention of sliding sideways into the 6' hole with wine in one hand and flowers in the other, laughing about the wonderful ride I have had through life. Get that brain working, do that degree, finish the quilt, beading, concreting, vege garden, dog obedience or whatever. Then find another project to do. Strive to be the best that you can at whatever it is you want to do and just go for it. My doctor tells me occasionally (well I only go to see him occasionally because I am of the opinion that too much medical advice will kill me off) that at my age, I should...(insert sage medical advice here)..... I never listen because I don't have an age - heck even the scale tells me that with my age to BMI ratio, I am 10 years younger than I chronologically am. I don't believe that either. If I listened to the doctor, I would never have travelled, would be sitting around trying to take off the weight, would be eating well and exercising nothing much at all. And I wouldn't be doing any stressful work. Stress if you work it right, is there to help the body deliver fight or flight tendencies. Since either one of those alternatives is movement, then I am all for a little stress in my life. If it starts to get too difficult, then I move on. For all that, my blood pressure is in the excellent range, my sugar levels are pretty good, and my cholesterol levels are at a point which are comfortable for me. So where's my problem? Nowhere, there ain't no problems, only choices and solutions.
Where are our choices and solutions going to lead us?? That's the choice of each and every one of us.

Mel and Happy are letting off steam with all the swearing and censored blips going on in the thread. Good to see that you read all of my erudite words. Was good to talk to you Mel. Sorry the battery died before we had finished with putting the world completely to rights. Time for the politicians to step aside and let people like us rule the world is it not?

Michelle, enjoy your fishing weekend or whatever you are having with the beloved. Hope it all goes according to plan.

Morning and to Holly, Annie, Madcat, Carla, Ruth, Painter, Meadow and Shaker, Teel and Linus and all the other missing worldlies that I can't name right now. I've got to go and think up something I can do which won't wake the sleeping beauties and yet will make productive results for my time. Weeding could be a nice quiet job and there are plenty out the front. Hi ho, its off to annoy the birdies instead. I think I forgot to tell you, there are a family of Indian Ring Necked Lorikeets feeding in the Grevillea Robusta tree (Silky Oak). These look like overgrown Budgerigars - they are blue and cream and black and white. Very pretty. I thought they were nesting, but they nest in hollow tree trunks so they have to be feeding - or maybe having a family reunion. I'd better go out and provide the supper! Another lot to feed.

HAPPY...MAYBE THE BLUES MUSIC WAS A HINT TO GET OFF THE COMPUTER!! HOPE THE CRAFT FAIR WAS NICE. I LOVED TO GO TO STUFF LIKE THAT. JEN AND I DECIDED IT IS BETTER TO PAY OUR DEBTS AND THEN NOT HAVE TO WORK FOR ANYONE!! FREEDOM IS STARTING TO SOUND GOOD TO HER AS WELL. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE HIP STILL HURTING SO MUCH. MAYBE A LITTLE SHOT WILL PUT THINGS TO RIGHTS AGAIN.

CEEJAY...YOU'RE A YOUNG CHICK TO ME!

SHAD... IMAGINE IF MY GRANDSON HAD NEIGHBORS LIKE YOUR LORIKEETS!! HE WOULD EITHER BE PISSED OR VERY HAPPY TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO! HOPE THE BIRDS DIDN'T MIND YOUR INTRUSION INTO THE WEEDY GARDEN. COULD YOU HEAR ME SAYING GOODBYE? I WAS HOPING YOU DID. SAVE ME SOME FOODIES!! I'LL SKIP THE FOOTIE!

I WAS JUST THINKING AFTER READING SHAD'S POST...I NEVER THINK OF MY AGE UNTIL MARCH WHEN PEOPLE ASK HOW OLD I AM NOW. THEN IT JUST SLIPS EVER SO QUICKLY RIGHT BACK OUT OF MY MIND.
I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THAT I'M IN A WHEELCHAIR LET ALONE HOW OLD I AM.
"KYLE" IS BUILDING UP STRENGTH AS IT PASSES US OUT IN THE OCEAN. LOOKS LIKE NOVA SCOTIA IS GOING TO GET THE FULL HEAD-ON BRUNT OF IT. HE'S CAUSING SOME WINDS AND RAIN AND THUNDERHEADS TO FORM HERE.....WITH LOTS OF FOG. FEEL LIKE I LIVE IN LONDON. WAITING FOR THE CALL THAT THE BBQ IS CANCELLED SO I CAN PUT THE SIGNS UP. LAZY DAY AND LAZY MEL. FINISHED MY BOOK YESTERDAY AND DID A WEE BIT OF CLEANING. GRANDSON SLEPT ALL DAY. I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS: WEIGHT THIS MORNING WAS 184.5 AND I AM HOPING IT'S A REAL LOSS. NOT ONE OF THOSE THAT COMES BOUNCING BACK EVEN HIGHER. I WILL FIND OUT NEXT SUNDAY! I ALSO LOST 7 INCHES ON MY BODY PARTS. MAINLY MY STOMACH AND HIPS. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED. THAT'S ALL THE NEWS FOR NOW.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I agree with your statement 100%. Glad the bbq went well.

Mel
You and Jen are correct to pay off your debts. I'm doing that too just for the fact I want a job that is less stressful and an 8 hour day.

Happy
Did you do any shopping at the craft fair or just looking?

I spent a good deal of the day outside in the yard. It was a beautiful day. Played some with the neighbors children, trimmed the bushes, and used the weed eater. The yard looks a lots better.

I also managed to clean up the kitchen.

It is back to work this morning. They are doing more maintenance on the wells. This week it's well 5. It's time to get up and earn some dollars.

Good morning all,

Another sunny day down here. DH and I wound up shopping yesterday. Got a new kitchen sink. We have a double bowled sink we replaced when we moved into the house as that one was 1) a DREADED horrid stainless steel one I hated and 2) it was very shallow - only 7 inches deep. For some crazy reason the hot water tank in this house is on the 3rd floor up in the attic. So it takes a while for hot water to travel down to the nether regions on the first floor. You have to run the water for a bit to get it warmed up which makes me crazy because it is SO wasteful. But with the shallow sink, the faucet fully opened would splash all over the floor. So we got a nice porcelan sink like we had in the old house. Within a few months the finish started wearing off one side. DH never could find the receipt so we had to foot the cost of replacing it again. I like the idea of keeping the dish drainer in one side of the sink rather than on the counter so I'm sort of locked into this style of sink. This time we have the receipt in a safe place in case we have trouble again. I use a dish mat as well as not harsh detergents, nor do I leave soapy water sitting in the sink for long periods so I don't know why the finish wore off. And it was only on the bottom of the sink, not the sides.

We also got a new faucet and sprayer. We have alot of minerals in the water here and the deposits build up like egg shells in the water line and faucets. Eventually enough builds up where you can't quite shut the water off completely. I really like our current faucet but the style of it is such that you can't clean the insides and we can't have water drip, drip, dripping. Also got a new torchier lamp for the living room. And the best of all, I LOVE undercabinet lighting. We have regular office furniture in the room with the computers - cherry wood desks, tables and overhead cabinets. It looks very nice when it's tidy Back at the old house DH had put small lights under the overhead cabinets which gave a soft light while working at the computer. I had been asking him to put them back again and it was at the bottom of the "honey do" list - mostly because we hadn't found the lights since moving! We picked up some yesterday and he installed them on my side. Oh heavenly days! Light again. It's wonderful. And it's so pretty. Sometimes the right kinds of light just are peaceful and relaxing.

We went out for a late lunch and watched a movie last night, complete with popcorn. It was a cute movie - When In Vegas I think was the name with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutchner. It was funny.

I was sad to hear that Paul Newman passed away. Didn't know he had cancer. What a delightful guy he was. Then I got a call from a friend back north yesterday - my best friend's mom passed away on Friday also. Like Paul she was in her 80's and had lived a good, long life.

To you point about age Shad, I agree with you that we should not let age ever be an excuse for not doing something. I do however mourn the loss of things that deteriorate naturally. There are things I won't be able to see clearly ever again - and no amount of glasses or eye surgery would fix that. I have arthritis in the toes - the Celebrex helps but I don't want to stay on that forever. Standing on tip toe to see the hummingbirds out the kitchen window at the feeder is painful and forget even a 1 inch heel on shoes. I will probably never wear a pair of high heels (and I only mean a 2 inch heel) again - which is probably ok since I don't intend to ever put on a dress again either I struggle at times to hear some things, particularly certain tones on the television - but DH does too so I think much has to do with the lack of sound quality on the shows. Background music overshadows the actors talking. I guess I still hear better than DH because I will have to repeat for him occasionally. And the doctor said the ears are fine, just that we lose the ability to filter out background sounds as we age. And, like most adults, I wish I had the energy levels of the average 2 year old But hey, we keep plugging away. I am most grateful that I can keep at it each day!

Here we are at the end of September already. How the year is flying by. Tomorrow is 36 years ago that I met DH at a dance hall. Hard to believe I was a cute chick with long blond hair, hot pants and go go boots and he was a studly hottie

I don't know what we want to use as a theme title - O is a difficult word. All I can think of is OMG It's October Already. Or Ooof Duh - It's October I'll let those of you with more creative minds suggest something.

I have to go get the stuff out from under the kitchen sink so that DH can get to work.

I never did make it to the craft fair yesterday. Maybe today but I don't know...

See yah!

For those of you who have wondered where I have been, I DO NOT want to hear you all needed the break . We had a death in the family and of course I was elected to get everyone into town from out of state and get the hotel reservations and so forth for 50 people. I wasn't even asked lol his mother just said, " Ask Rennie what needs to be done, lol "Then of course was the coordination of getting people from airports to hotels and to the banquet hall and so forth and so on. Three days of talking with everyone all over the country that I don't even know ( his family ) and then trying to get people who live in the state to pitch in and help get people where they needed to be has really taken its tole on me. Everything came off very well and we had over 100 people there. I was really grateful that people really pitched in when they saw I wasn't feeling well so I wasn't stuck doing everything for the three days when it came to keeping the food dishes full and everyone where they needed to be when they needed to be there. Really have no idea why everyone asks me everything lol. This family has big doos about everything that happens in the family one would think they could do all this without much thought lol. I of course did not eat on plan but am happy that when I weighted myself this morning I didn't gain any weight. No gain is a loss right lol. I have been very sick again. This bronchitis is really getting me down. I go back to the doc tomorrow. No exercise of course, just walking up or down a flight of stairs makes me have to sit for 20 min to catch my breath. This of course will pass and I will be right as rain. I just with the sun would hurry and come out and it would stop being partly cloudy lol.

Ruth
I am so very sorry for your loss. It is so very hard when we lose someone we love so much.

Happy
Congrats, now things will surly go in the right direction. I don't really think much about age. I have never been able to see very well. I have had arthritis since I was a child. I will never be tall enough to see everything on the second shelfs in my kitchen and I enjoy getting another year older because I think of the alternative lol.

I love your frame of mind. Anytime I start to let myself get down because this hurts or I can't do that today because of how I feel. I think of you. You do what you want to do and just don't let things let you down. You always make me smile right when I need a smile.

That is the very reason I put pale aquamarine in my master bathroom. So many different things can go with it. When I finally get everything done around here and sell the house who every buys it will have many choices of what to put in the room. My living room and stair well is a similar color for the same reasons.

Hi to everyone I have missed. I am going back to bed.
