Hi ladies,
Thought I posted yesterday, guess I just breezed through reading. We had a gusty night, not much rain but alot of wind. I'm glad I asked DH to move the planter with the caterpillars into the garage for the night. We had some tree branches down this morning and DH worked very hard yesterday to clean the driveway and patio only to have it completely leaf covered this morning. My mom is getting innundated with rain, lots of flooding and the remants of hurricane Ike are making their way up to them today. I have not heard from my niece yet, I'm sure she's ok. Will probably be in the dark for a few days, I will have to call my SIL (her mom) later to get the scoop. I'm sure she's squandering her cell phone battery for now.
Patty - that was so sweet of you to offer a spare room.

They got caught on the road when evacuating for Rita and she was quite scared that they were going to get caught out on the open road. This year she moved 45 minutes away from the beach front area so it was less of a threat this time. Congratulations on getting your certification! Hope that leads to a big raise

- have to do things like that to give yourself a leg up on the job market. Sorry to hear about the hives - I understand stress can do that. Glad you are feeling better.
Shad - what a relief to hear about Singapore being better. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Get some rest and come back and tell us of your adventures. I look forward to hearing about them!
Mel - Painter is from the Dallas area, they got a direct drift of the hurricane but by then it downgraded to a tropical storm. Nothing to sneeze at but not quite the force as it made landfall. Hope she's doing ok too. Congrats on the winning lottery ticket

hope this won't turn you into an addict

But that is very exciting - I'm sure you can use the money and sometimes things appear when you need them most. Spend it well and set aside 2 bucks for something fun
Ceejay - I'm sorry to hear about the meltdown but there is a point in which you can try and push yourself and the body or brain will no longer respond. Good for you to push back and take a step aside for a bit. They will have to figure out how to better schedule people at the plant. Feel better!
Shy, I agree with you. I have no problem with hunting if people use the meat for food, I am completely against killing for sport only. It is really sad when the deer herd gets too big and they compete for not enough food. Must be sad to see so many dead ones out by you. And I agree with the butcher paper. If I raised animals I would have to have a very large vegetable garden because I'd never be able to butcher and eat something whose eyes I looked into. I even had a hard time eating a whole lobster when we had a family New England cookout with DH's family.
Ruth, I'm surprised you still have hummingbirds - would think it's getting pretty cool at night up your way by now. Sounds like you're going to have a nice cupboard full of yummy summer stuff to tide you over the winter.
Michelle - how's the fishing? How's the rain? I hear you are getting blasted up your way. Probably can launch the boat from the patio

How's your back feeling?
Ok, well there's just something about Sundays that get away from me. 2/3 of the day is over with and I'm still in PJs. Terrible

I did get half the laundry done so far and I am going to warm up some veggie pizza from last night for a quick late lunch. Then it's over to the grocery store.
I'm really glad I gassed up the 4Runner mid week. With my grocery discount I paid $2.51 a gallon for my fill up. (Gas was at $3.55 a gallon). I worked from home Friday and didn't go out but apparently they hiked the prices up in anticipation of both higher prices and a lack of supply from the hurricane. My friend called me and said they were lined up 5 deep at the pumps. I checked gasbuddy.com and sure enough, the gas has gone up an average of 30 cents a gallon since Friday afternoon. So I won't be making any unneccesary trips today. Luckily DH doesn't drive much, if it weren't for going to the gym he might get by all month on one fill up.
Enjoy your Sunday chicks...
