Funny you should mention that Ani. Not long ago on a current affairs type show it was saying how LITTLE it costs to eat our fruit quota for as little as a dollar a day? UHU? Where the heck were they buying it? What quality? Maybe it cost a dollar in fuel to drive to tip to scavange?

Ok If at $5.00 a kilo for apples A plain boring everyday fruit and most apples weigh in around 200gm that is $1. an apple. now in my family at any one time there are at least 3 kids and 2 adults. (not to mention when all 7 kids are here) thats $5.00 for apples one each. we are supposed to eat 2 - 3 serves of fruit per day. Ok $5.00 times 3 = $15 per day. Thats $105 a week just for us to eat our healthy pyramid quota of 3 serves of boring old APPLES a day. and that at $5 a kilo when usually it is closer to $8.00 bloody ridiculopus I say. Hmmmmm. Then we have meat vege and dairy blah blah blah.

Ani I really can sympathise with the whole bidget thing and healthy living. Crap isnt it?

PPS OK swallow some pride and go to centrelink. Ask for a referral to either St Vincent De Paul or salvation army (they alternate weeks) and get a food voucher. Its hard, but a neccesity in life sometimes. You have worked hard and paid plenty of taxes most of yr life. Take something back from that.

It's totally an issue of poverty related to obesity. Shameful, really, that it's cheaper and easier to feed yourself and your kids rubbish rather than healthy foods.

I totally agree with you all about healthy food being expensive. A family can get dinner of fish n chips for under $10 for everyone whereas there's no way you could get meat and veggies for everyone for that sort of price.

Ani, I hope I do join you guys in the 70's soon! I did pretty good over the weekend. Went slightly over my points but not too badly, drank lots of water too which was good. I didn't get any exercise in but having already done 4 big sessions at the gym that's not unforgivable.

Gym tonight will be 30 minutes of weights and a 60 minute aerobics class. Wooha!

I'm up 300g this week Grrrr. Tonight I'm heading up to the north island for a few days for work so won't be able to exercise while I'm there and will have to concentrate hard on my diet.

Nothing to report other than that. Hope everyone is well

julia you have worked so hard at this for the past couple of weeks. Don't be so cranky. It may just be muscle. Remember you are getting proper fuel in yr body now that feeds muscle.

HaHa, I know you're right Vonni Unfortunately I've already gone way off track and I've only been in Wellington since last night. My sister got fish n chips for dinner so that's what I had and this morning's breakfast was a chicken, brie and cranberry roll which takes far more points than I would usually have in the mornings.

Goals for today: 1) find something healthy for my lunch 2) find something healthy for my dinner.

I'm here. I've had a **** migraine for 2 days with no relief in sight. If I didn't have to look after the kids I'd be up at that hospital right now getting a shot. BUT I have to look after them (and Ebony isn't well so very sooky), work and study so.... soldier on I must.

I start at my Dr surgery next week (1 day a week) so looking forward to that and trying to get house organised before hand.

Ani how are you feeling with yr glandular fever? Man we r a sick bunch lol.

Julia did you find anything healthy for lunch? I did (NOT) KFC again lol.

I'm here too - just feel a bit off with the glandular fever. I'm trying to put all my energy into getting healthy and fit before starting my job in less than two weeks… but I'm not far away.

Vonni did you celebrate getting your BMI under 30 with KFC? You look out - a few months in my new job and I'll have the money to come over there and torch that bloody place to the ground .

lmao. I didnt enjoy it I swear. I dont even know why I buy the crap. I had 3/4 of a zinger works burger. Asked for HALF the amount of mayo and it was no bloomin different. there were about 4 scraps of lettuce about 2 inches of a bacon rasher, the pineapple still dripping and the cheese sideways. The only thing good about it was the chicken. Every time I get takeaway it is either a mixed up order or is thrown together. Don't even know why I bother. Probably wont help the migraine any either.

Oh well.
