Hi MotoMichelle!! we've been around since 2005, I think
Is that you in your avatar, on a track day? if so, kewl!
I did read about your trip, that was great!! and so many awesome photos. And so great that you and your husband ride. Isn't that a wonderful thing for a marriage.
Is your VStrom the 650 or 1000? We got our older son (now 25) hooked on motorcycles when we let him learn on our extra bike, an '86 Kaw Vulcan. Then he bought himself the 650 WeeStrom and loves it.
How long can you continue to ride, with the winter months coming? I"m on borrowed time now as it is. I haven't put the bike away yet for the winter, but the available times to ride are gonna be even more scarce between now and T-giving.
well, welcome again!
Thank you! Yes, mine is also a 650 WeeStrom. I LOVE it! It's a great all around bike.
We can usually ride all year round. It gets cold for a couple months but nothing some winter gear can't handle. My husband and I are probably going to be riding to Alabama for Christmas this year.
Hehe no that is not me in the avatar. That is a picture of Valentino Rossi a world famous Moto GP racer.

So, I'm down in the dumps. I have to take that course ALL OVER AGAIN! I don't think I can sit through that book crap again. I am so bummed. Here were my problem areas...
-not maintaining the throttle through a turn
-use the brakes before entering my stopping point
-totally blew the two u-turns in the box although I mastered it at practice
I was nervous and I think that's what made me blow it! I am so mad at myself. I am going to go ahead an try to get into that course again as a standby when there is a next class. I'm sure I'll pass it next time because I know what to expect, but I was really wanting to ride by myself tomorrow! I can still ride, but I have to be with someone with a license of course so it's not all that bad.
Also, the bikes at the course sucked! I love the Ducati now. Ha! That take off is priceless! The take off with the course bikes were so slow and it caused me to stall out many times.
Anyway...that's all for now. I'm so upset.
Don't feel too down! That box was HARD! Keep practicing and you'll get it.

Oooooh! Riding in Canada would be awesome! Make sure you take lots of pics!

How does your daughter like Wyoming? Hubby and I have actually thought about moving there one day.
Sorry for the delay in replying, ladies! Weekends are pretty busy for me and Mondays at work are typically frantic as well.
Love your bike too Jessica! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
I'll be going to see if I can get into the class as a standby on Nov. 22...I sure hope I can get in. Not going this weekend because I'm still kinda nervous.
Found a bike I'm going to check out today on Craigslist. It's a 2007 Kawasaki 600zzr in red...the bike I want. It's going for 5k which is steep a price for a starter bike. I'll see if I can talk dude down a little. Taking my friend with me who has a moto license so if I do want to buy it there will be no problem in doing so.
Sass - ooo, that Kaw sounds nice, hope you can talk the dude down!
Michelle, I am an idiot for just assuming that was you in the avatar, I guess I have heard of Rossi, but didn't know his colors, so duh to me, LOL!!
and it was nice of you to address all of our hi's and welcome's
My question was - in your trip story, you spoke of bike rain covers...but it sounded like they were covers you use when you're riding? What part of the bike do they cover? I have vinyl saddlebag covers for when the bike is parked and not under cover from rain (not that I ever remember to pack them ) but I don't think they're for use when in motion...?
My exercise for today, Gilad's 45/45 Split (it's really only 37-ish minutes of work, the rest is warm up or cool down) and it's strength. It is challenging, meaning I don't like to do it because it's hard!
Holly - They are rain covers for the side saddlebags. They are fitted to go over the specific bag and then have a cinch string to tighten securely around the bag so that once you're going again they won't blow off.
I think hubby didn't cinch the one he lost all the way and that's why it flew off.
You might want to check if there's a way to cinch your covers up. If so then you should be able to ride with them on.

hmmm...I will check that out, you're probably right. it would be nice not to have my saddlebag goodies floating in an inch of water after each time I'm caught in the rain, lol!
ps - a really airheaded, fashion-conscious, rich pretty lady I once worked for commented on my (previous bike's) concho-studded saddlebags - "I like your motorcycle purses"
Hey things seem to be going ok, missed a couple of days here but I have been really busy and then we are getting the freezing rain then snow as well, suppose to snow over night but noone has gave an accumulation amount but suppose to quit tomorrow and then not start back up till Friday sometime. You know winter isn't really offical for another 6 weeks but you wouldn't quess it by the weather we have been having.....
Jessica those are some nice looking bikes you have there
Well gotta go just got a phone call from the police supposedly my under age son is buying chew for another under age kid so now we get to go to police station to get figured out..... Stuff is just never ending
Reda, sure hope that you got things figured out with that phone call
We have bright sun today which is so nice, haven't seen the sun for quite a few days, but it is still cold. I might have to admit that it is time to put the bike away. grrr.
haven't exercised yet, I will post what I did if I do it
okay, just finished Karen Voigt. Almost an hour, with warm up and cool down, of sweaty (flying off my hair!) cardio and weights. Now to keep away from those *#@!*&#@ cookies at work
Reda - Gah! Let us know what happens. Hang in there.
Holly - Spring will be here in no time. Yesterday it was cold and I saw this guy riding his bike with a helmet with no face shield on it. I was like Whoa he must be cold.
Hey ladies... just stopping by to give u my update... going strong 3 days since being sick... played some racquet ball last night.. and loved it.. today, is another story... Im planning on doing a little biking inside of course...
So sad that bike season is over... its 49 degrees here... so no chance of riding.... Have a great day ladies....

Holly that is to funny "motorcycle purses" I wish I could find some that would look decent on my bike but I am pretty sure on a chopper they would all look stupid ....
Jessica sounds like you are over it finally, and back on track this has been one heck of a week trying to stay OP as much as possible but it has been challenging a few more long days to go and then hopefully things will be back to somewhat normal maybe
MotoMichelle I have never seen or heard of rain covers for side saddle bags either they sure would have been nice a few years ago but now DH has hard saddle bags and they have kept everything dry so far
Well after talking with son he did say he did buy, told us which store he was buying from so we took him to the police station he told them exactly what he bought and where, my son is 17 so he is underage yet for buying tobacco as well, but a clerk at one of the stores I guess has sold to him a few times. Anyways the cop is sending all the info to our states attorney and they will decide if they just want to fine him a hundred plus dollars for furnishing tobacco to a minor, and that would be the least amount of what he will get, they can have him go to court and get probation stuff as well, who knows the officer said they will contact us or send us a letter in a few weeks.... The only thing with this is that when you buy or sell for/to a minor it goes on your DMV record which raises your insurance rates, like I said it is never ending as if I am not busy enough right now anyways.... Ok enough about this stupid sh*t.....
Tomorrow will be along day again have to be at the store by 5am which means I will need to leave by 4am probably won't get home again till 7pm this will actually be my schedule for the next couple of days but it will be worth it in the long run
Reda - gotta love getting calls from the police... I guess at least he's not smoking?
Michele - that is one HAWT moto gp racer dude.
Jessica - did a little indoor biking myself today. Glad you are feeling mended. the blacked out sportster!
Sass - I see people riding in shorts still...of course it's not that cold here...but it isn't THAT warm either.
Holly....bike purses...snork!
Jill - I've had a good week so far....some of that 177 must have been sodium, I was back to 174 this morning. You must be excited about your trip!
So - this Friday I have what should be the LAST interview before I can start teaching spin. It took me WAY too long. This interview is an HR human. It shouldn't be too scary. I'm ready to start.
whew, Reda, that is some sobering shake-up news, but I guess it could have been worse. Best wishes with that situation...and best wishes again for the new store opening, and hope you can keep up your energy during those l-o-n-g- days!
Gina, that is too kewl that you're going to be a spin instructor!
Hi Jessica, Michelle, Sass and Jill!
I started out fine yesterday, good exercise session, sensible lunch...then had two cookies in the afternoon (big ones) Then had a FD Aux. meeting even before I got home, and a lady brought pumpkin/cranberry bread with cream cheese spread...killer! This is not good. I've had enough off-program stuff to make a difference in one pair of my jeans, not a good sign! but a good kick in the pants.
I'll post my exercise afer I actually do it this morning. Have a good one!
