  • THe sun is shining, so I felt i HAD to get outside. I took a walk, not sure how long mile-wise, but I left the house at 8:15 and got back at 8:55.
  • Hello everyone!

    Reda - when my oldest does bone-headed things it really ticks me off too. these young kids need to start using their brains more often. i just don't get it.

    Holly - what kind of cookies were they? I have a thing for double chocolate chip and raisain oatmeal cookies.

    I effed up my front, right thigh doing kick boxing for the first time last night. Now that I had time to think about it, I didn't stretch before working out and that may have been the problem. I didn't know I was injured until I tried to do one of Jillian's lunges and I went down. OMG...it's a piercing pain. I won't be able to do any cardio until it goes away. I can't even use my leg to hold down the resistance band so I don't know what I'm going to do. Anyway, I'll get over it...eventually.
  • ohh jeez sorry to hear that, Sass! Would you use warmth or cold to help something like that? and maybe some ibuprofen, isn't that good for muscle hurts?

    The cookies were these huge 3" ones that we sell, so when I say 'a cookie' it's alot more damaging than a li'l puny ordinary 1" cookie but it's my own fault! One was oatmeal raisin and the other was choc. chip.
  • Reda - Hard bags are great but pretty expensive. I have a hard top case on my bike which I love but I went with the less expensive soft side bags for trips since I don't use them that often. In sport bike/touring gear most of the soft bags come with covers. I'm surprised they don't come with cruiser soft bags. Odd.

    Chick - He looks ok in that picture but there are some unflattering ones of him around. However, his profession certainly ups his hotness!

    Holly - Morning!

    Sass - Sorry to hear about your injury. I'm not very good about stretching before or after my workouts either. I do a very, very minimal stretch (I'm talking about 1 min of stretching max). I know I need to change that and even picked up a book on stretching just last night. We'll see how that goes.

    Hopefully your thigh will heal up quickly!

    Hope you all are having a lovely Thursday so far. Today is a rest day for me so I'll be heading home right after work to do some grilling for me and DH.
  • Awright kiddies. Ya gotta warm up before and cool down and stretch after. Don't make me bring out the Before should be at least 5 minutes quick cardio to get your blood moving before you add resistance or weights. After should be at least 5 minutes (more like 10 if you've been working out more than 1/2 an hour) of light cardio and stretching.

    Sass - I hope it feels better soon! If not - see a doc to made sure you didn't do anything serious?

    My dang hip flexors were SORE today from my long walk yesterday.

    this morning's exercise - 20 minutes of hard-breathing aerobics; then a short Gilad tape, Arms and Shoulders; then about 3 minutes of Denise Austin's Abs.

    I RODE TO WORK TODAY It was overcast, but in the high 50's, almost 60. But then heavy rain tomorrow; then falling, falling temperatures; all next week, low 20's at night and mid 30's for days. So this might have been my last hurrah. But I sure enjoyed it
  • good morning! well, good rainy/drippy/dreary morning

    didn't do any cardio this morning, but I did do Gilads Shoulders and Back (15 min) and Gilad's Abs (almost all of it). Upper thighs are still sore from Thursday's walk!

    I've been eating like a horse lately. Like a sugar and carb addicted horse. Someone stop me!
  • Been reading all the great stuff, Chicks....but not much time for replying with work and getting ready for my trip. Got my last shift outta the way yesterday. It was a rough one, but MY LAST til the 25th. Then on the 28th we're riding our bike to Port St. Lucie for a delayed Thanksgiving with our riding buds there. We're both working on the actual day....since the hospital never stops

    I'll be checking in....have a great weekend!
  • Well finally got the Grand Opening over with It was so busy that on Friday I worked 4am till 8pm and was only able to sit down for 1 five minute break You know that night I realized that through that whole shift I only went to the restroom once as well and boy I could tell I was totally dehydrated Sat. morning so drank lots of water yesterday then last night was my sons racing banquet and had a few mich ultras ok well acutally I guess I had more than a handful plus a few shots Boy did I sleep good last night though.

    Jill again have a great time with your daughter and grandchildren. But I am so jealous that you get to go riding when you get home!!!

    Well chickies it looks like we are going to have to start a new thread pretty soon....

    Sass you going to motocycle class next weekend to be on standby still? How is your leg feeling?

    Goal this week is to get back on schedule which means get home before everyone else so that I can get my exercise in, this last week I have ate alot of subs but also some pizza and candy but got on scale this morning and not even up 1 whole pound even after drinking all that last night! Yeah

  • Sounds like you had a helluva day, Reda.....But also a great night at the banquet We went out w/ friends and ate Italian last night....man is that Italian beer called Perone some great stuff!

    Trip is in the morning....I leave here at 4:15am....drive to Orlando, find the off-airport parking place...catch the shuttle for my 7:15am flight to Salt Lake, then the 12-seater to the one-gate Cody, Wyoming airport. It's an 8 hour trip. I'm ready...have the house clean and everything ready for HH to be home w/o me for a week. I'll be checking in while at DD's and will weigh when I get home. I MUST get back on track!! I don't think Ive gained much tho....my jeans still fit OK. Need to get back on track for some LOSS tho. You're my exercise idol, Holly! You too Reda and Sass...I need a big ol' kick in the butt

    this morning I did Denise Austin's Sizzler, it's aerobics and strength intermixed.

    Well I've had a pretty low week depression-wise, it's the d*mn time of year when the long N. England winters start, and we have little or no sun, and it always is a hard time for me. I was really, really hopeful that being on a diff med this time might help, but like I said I had a low week (alot of sad thoughts, alot of 'what's the point' thoughts, crying at out of the blue times) so after consulting with husband, we just ordered a Light Therapy Box. It should arrive relatively quickly, a day or so. I'll let you know how it goes
  • I'm behind ladies! I don't know what's going on with any of you right. I hope I can start over...the leg is better, but deep down inside there is still soreness. I am able to do lunges again yay!

    As for me, I'm trying to build a good fitness plan because right now I'm lacking in serious cardio. I need to burn this fat faster!!! I have like 10% of body fat to shred and I'm prolonging it because I don't have the right program. Anyway, I'm working on it. I hope you gals are having a good Monday!

    Hope you all are doing well. This coming weekend is going to be busy, busy for me. Friday my DH is taking me to the International Motorcycle Show here in Houston. I'm very excited! Then Saturday I have a long ride planned and Sunday is birthday dinner with my parents. Whew! I better rest up during the week!

  • MotoMichelle it does sound like a busy weekend, but fun At least you get to go riding...... Some of us winter has hit, darn it but we did get snowmobiles out to get ready for the snow that is coming. I do prefer riding my motocycle but the snowmobiles are fun tooo

    I hear ya Sass on getting an exercise routine developed and in motion, I need to do the same and starting today so with that I did walk/jog 40 minutes on treadmil today so I just need to stay with it and not find any more excuses for not doing it.

    Holly I hope all is going well with you today, hope your package arrives soon for you. Winter months are a downer because of the lack of sunshine and warm air, hope you get to feeling better

    I just put in the movie "The Strangers" just got down watching "The Happening" this one was really kind of stupid but "The Strangers" is more my type of movie and I hear it is really good and based on true story.
    Well we have our local Eagles Club poultry party this weekend so I usually go play cards for a few hours the money goes to Charity so it is a good cause anyways.

    MotoM, ahhh, to live somewhere warm and a snow-free zone!! We have about an inch of fluffy white chit out there this morning. And it is supposed to stay cold during the days all week, I guess riding season is over for me this year. But it sure was fun while it lasted!

    I'm really, really looking forward to my light therapy box.

    Last week, I don't even wanna hint at all the crap I ate. Yesterday was a total on program day though. I'm going to have to go back to my South Beach basics and be disciplined.
