Just to let you know I stayed perfect on program today (so far, it's only 6:30 pm ) and for exercise, I walked half a mile in the FREEZING WINDY cold and then did a Karen Voigt tape, almost an hour of cardio and weights.
Hey Holly great job with staying OP for 2 days in a row!!!! That is awesome. Me on the other hand totally went off plan today, I ate rolo's, reeses peanut butter cups and a small bag of chips with some mike and ikes candy. Such a very bad day, I think I will for sure get on the treadmil during Biggest Loser tonight and will hope to stay on there through the whole show....
Well tomorrow is the middle of the week and then we are on the down side of the week, yeah!!!!
for Holly - 2 days OP! Hope the light therapy helps. Sending in case it doesn't.
Reda - I'm ready for Biggest loser tonight...hopefully they send Icky - I mean Vicky - home.
Sass - glad you're feeling better.
Michelle - did you survive your gangbusters weekend?
Jill - Perone....good stuff.
It's official, I have a job teaching x-bike (indoor mountain biking) at the gym. I don't have my own classes to teach yet, I have to take a CPR course on Thursday first. 6 hours long...yeesh. I taught half a class yesterday - no one threw tomatoes.
I taught half a class yesterday - no one threw tomatoes.
:rotfl: and big congrats!!! a 6 hr. CPR course, wow. Is that all in one shot?
thanks for the on my 48 hours of being good And last night the battle wasn't even over by early evening, because DH went out on an errand and came back with a bag of corn chips and a hostess-type fruit pie. And divided the pie and it was sitting there on the counter, beckoning me. I turned off the kitchen light so I wouldn't see it
I should change my ticker, because yesterday I bit the bullet and weighed, and I'm 155. I know it will move down if i stick to my mindful eating and keep working out. So I will be honest (weep) and change it. Just shows how easy it is to start having BLN (bites, licks, nibbles) or, in my case, the whole darn thing.

Okay I changed my ticker. Now to really work at getting it down again.
I scrolled back a few pages to check but I don't think I told you all about our adopted dog Eddie? Our Tasha died in late August; less than a month later we got Eddie at the local animal shelter. He is a young (less than 2 yrs. old) incredible bundle of energy. All muscle and bony parts as opposed to our soft fluffy sedate Tasha
Poor thing has been at shelters for most of his life, so he is still very skittish and scared of lots of things. It'll take time for him to completely relax but he is much better than the first week.
We have always not trusted our dogs off a leash or a run outside; even though we have a big yard, there is a road right at the top of the driveway that can be busy, and we did have one young dog run free from us, not listen to us call her back and was hit and killed by a car many years ago; so that is always a big fear.
Well I just had a hunch that Eddie would be okay off the leash; he NEEDS to run and work off some energy that we just can't do on the leash or run; so yesterday I did some trial experimenting by unhooking his leash when we were just about to enter the house, and he was fine. Then I did it a few more times; then took the big chance and had him off completely.
He LOVES it! I have never seen such energy and such HUGE leaps and strides as he is GALLOPING around the yard. He was so happy! I had a pocketful of doggie treats as rewards each time I called him and he came to me immediately.
My husband was very skeptical (because of the road threat) and didn't want me to try, but he saw Eddie tearing around this morning and agreed it's a big energy release that was needed.
Eddie, back in September when the grass was green!
Holly congrats on getting Eddie, the way he is standing attentive in the picture he must be a good listener or maybe understands he has to listen to be let off the leash outside! Sounds like he is already bringing some joy to your household
Oh and by the way GREAT JOB on turning off the light and passing up the treat
Well I did get my exercise in last night 45 minutes on treadmil and also started my weight training last night as well, I got something similar to bowflex and my son put it up so started with arms last night and will go to legs tonight. I am back on track full force no excuses! I am alittle soar today though but I will manage
Gina congrats on your class, and 6 hour CPR? I don't ever remember it being that long but it has been a couple of years since taking it again. Congrats it sounds like fun

Yay Reda on treadmill AND strength training!! and yes, Eddie has already brought joy (plus some frustration, lol) into the house, he is a goofy guy but we're glad we have him. oh, and this doesn't seem to figure into his sketchy (probably abused?) background but he LOVES to ride in the car or van. But he's not too sure about walking around our motorcycles.
I just finished the Keli Roberts step aerobics tape, plus I wore ankle weights and used hand weights to make it harder (which it was!! drippy sweat in a 60 degree room)

Reda - I'll have to check those movies out because I never heard of them before. I used to be a big movie watcher but since I picked up this new riding hobby and have become addicted to fitness, I have yet to sit down to re-watch my favorite movies like Ocean's 12 and 13...I love that trilogy. Anyway, I think I'm going to sit down and watch a movie tonight. I need a break.
Jill & Holly: Glad you guys had a good time!!! Holly, I ate a lot of crapola too, but it hasn't affected me badly yet. I'm so thankful. I will eat another slice of pie tonight and that will be it for me until Thanksgiving. I drank a large coffee with sugar, milk and cream in it last night with a cinnamon raisin bagel from Dunkin Donuts and 2.5 slices of pie. Yes, I lost my frickin' mind! Glad you're back on track!
Gina - Congrats! I wish I could get my license but duh! I would love to be able to teach a rider course one day. I wonder if I need 10 years of riding to be able to do so...I need to look into this. Wonka Wonka Wonka!
Michelle - Michelle went where and did what? I must have missed that some where.
OK so I decided to go with Cathe Friedrich step workout and body sculpting stuff. It's an expensive adventure, but I'm going to start small. I'm going to go to Dick's and buy that step they have that comes with her beginners step DVD and I'll take it from there. Went to her site and watched her video clips and they look great, but hard. I really want to burn up this fat and with the 30 Day Shred alone it's not going to happen so I'm going to do Jillian on the Sundays (one day a week) and Cathe rotations.
I need to go out and get a barbell and some disc weights. Not sure where to go for this. Also need ankle and arm weights. I have a stability ball and a resistance band.
Sorry to hear that some of you are getting locked down by the snow. Just remember that when summer comes us Houstonians suffer the 100 degree 100% humidity torture.
Sorry if my posts are sporadic. I'm not very good at keeping up with daily type posts. But I do enjoy popping in.
Hi everyone! I just found this thread and am very excited! My husband and I both decided in August to get out motorcycle permits and then take the Motorcycle Safety Course to get out license. It was really funny since my husband studyed for the permit test for like a week before he went and took it and failed, he did pass the 2nd time though. I read the book once and passed, with not missing any questions. He has always rode stuff too, like dirt bikes and 4 wheelers so he is sortof like a pro at riding. Me on the other hand, have rode a 4 wheeler maybe 2x. I was never taught how to drive a stick shift in a car and never rode a motorcylce. So I new the class was going to be an experience.
The written part of the test my husband and I both passed(he passed mostly with him cheating off of me though, shhhh don't tell anyone). It was soooo scary getting on a bike for the first time on day one of riding. to make it worse, it rained alllll day. Luckly I had bough me and DH Frogg Toggs to keep us dry and they worked great!!! By the last day I definitly was comfortable on a bike, but new I needed a ton of more practice. The Good news is that me and DH passed and got our licenses which is soooo exciting. I don't have a bike to ride, so I haven't riden since we took our class in October. I'm hoping to get something to begin on by spring/summer. My DH has a Dual Sport that he rides, it's older and is a kick start and is really high, he is 6'4 so it fits him perfect. Me on the other hand probably couldnt even get my leg around it...lol.
So I'm glad I found you guys here. I started this weigt loss in July and have kinda of slowed down a little, but need to get into it more again.

Have a great day everyone!!!
Well I'm glad somebody got their licenses. I failed miserably.
Hi scarahjs, glad you found us, ! That's very kewl that you and DH took the course together. Big congrats on passing! Too bad his duel sport is too high for you...
cute avatar pic! You and your child or am I being too nosy
Do you know what kind of bike you'd like to ride yourself? Cruiser, sport, sport-tourer? Again with the nosy
Well ladies I had a <gasp> third day of being perfectly on plan. Sass - I'm back on Phase 1 of South Beach. I was really afraid of facing the platters of cookies at work this afternoon, once everyone else left and I was unsupervised, but I did fine!! Amazing. I am now thinking of my ticker, and how I want it down 6 pounds. Being honest will help me

Scarahjs. That is awesome that you were able to take th course with DH!!!! So do you have a bike in mind?
Holly great job staying OP again today and passing on the cookies!! I to stayed OP today and when I got home got on treadmil for 30 minutes and did my 30 day shred today as well...
Sass I don't get to watch many movies either but after the weekend I had all I wanted to do Monday was lay around and do nothing but watch TV. It will probably be another year before I watch a movie, okay I better change that as soon as Saw V comes out I will bring it home same day to watch, you know I am all about suspense and horror!!
Gina, Michelle, and Jill (even though I know Jill is on vacation)
Well tomorrow is going to be a long day again not sure if I will log on or not depending on how late it really is when I get home. Good night
Yay Reda for 30 minutes treadmill then 30 minutes shred! sorry you have another long day today, hope it's not too grueling.
I just finished Gilad's Hips, Abs and Arms Toning...40 minutes...and hey, what the heck...it is the same exact tape as Gilad's Split 45/45 Toning. hmm, that's sneaky! I bought the Hips Abs Arms one at a yard sale for a dollar, so no big waste of money, but I wouldn't have been happy if I bought it for full value.
I talk about the next subject alot more on a different thread, my depression, but I've been so much better since Jan/Feb. when my med was changed. But I still have to deal with the seasonal depression SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)which is especially prevailant in northern climates. But I just got my Light Therapy Box, and used it for the first time this morning, and I am cautiously optimistic about it helping me. I'll let ya know
have a great day! I hope to have another cookie/sweets-free day today.
