OK having sounded all pious this morning, I've had a crap food day! I ate: doughnuts (8!), chocolate (125g block!) and a packet of snakes. And I'm having frozen pizza for dinner.

Yay me!

Don't worry Gen I'll join you today. I drank a litre of water today. Had a half fling for morning tea and a crumbed sausage for brekky and nothing for lunch. I had eagle boys 4 slices for dinner. And I NEVER eat four slices. TWO and I am usually full. Think it's this head cold. I knew something was going on, last 3 weeks I've had headaches and toothaches and yesterday they stopped but I started sneezing and am really stuffed up int the head. I am so HUNGRY when I get sick. Just so glad I don't get sick that often. (oh, and george visiting doesn't help)

BARB welcome back. I've been at a standstill and gaining also for the past couple of months. Can't seem to get in the right head space at the moment. But I keep on soldiering on. Even reading the others posts I get a giggle and feel good for them. Don't leave us again, just hang in there.

Barb, good to hear from you! And good to hear you getting back into it! You know we are all right behind you!

Vonni, 770cals/1000 cals? Doesn't sound right to me given what you say you eat...and I don't mean to sound rude by saying that! However, if it is right, it strikes me that you are not getting enough calories, therefore your body will fight to hold onto the calories it is getting making weight loss slow down.

And Ani, did I give you that lurgy, or did you give it to me?? Or is it our punishment for the previously mentioned 'untruth' last Friday? Here's hoping we get over it soon!

Now, I gotta know this...

...is it my fault you are all eating pizza or are you all teasing me??? I never did go to the new Eagle Boys outlet here last night, and to be entirely honest, I don't even feel tempted to...yet

Ani, I don't eat much fast food at all (unless you call frozen dinners fast food too). KFC, McDonalds and the likes is really a novelty when I make it to a town/city that offers such, but I have to admit my experience of KFC when I was in Perth was enough to put me off for a while!

Having said that, I am still not eating right! I am bored of my diet! So I'm eating too much of the wrong stuff. I kinda feel like I am stuck in a rut with this dieting thing.

How do I spice this up again? How do I go about making this weight loss journey the exciting thing it was way back when I started, when I was losing weight? When I used to look forward to stepping on the scales? I lost nearly 30kg back then...I have gained near 10kg (a third!!!) of that back already! I got to a size 16 then...I am now having to pull out what few size 18's I have left!

I've tried rewards, I've tried goals - short term and long - I just can't seem to stick with it for more than a day or two!

I hate that I am gaining weight again, but I just can't seem to get my head into losing it! I start off every morning feeling determined, by the end of the day that motivation has gone and I just don't seem to care!

And yeah, I am feeling miserable and angry about it all!

And I know I am not the only one feeling this way and for that I apologise for my very self-indulgent post - I just had to get it out.

No walk for me last night. It had been raining and the sky was BLACK so I didn't want to risk being caught out. Today is looking good so far and a walk is on the cards for after work.

I find it so hard to stick to everything when I'm away from home. I've been good with food and have stayed well within my allowance each day but exercise is a struggle when I don't have the gym to go to.

Homeward bound after work tomorrow though and looking forward to it.

Welcome back Barb, it's good to see you here again.

Hey Vonni, do you want an HONEST opinion about your food? If you don't, can I suggest you skip this post of mine?

Is this a typical day for you? And how many calories are you aiming to eat?

1. You're not eating enough to lose weight.

2. You're not eating enough during the day to lose weight.

3. There is WAY too much fat in those foods you're eating, nowhere near enough fibre, and where are the fruit and vegetables?

4. Why didn't you eat lunch?

5. There is SO much processed food in that meal plan - therefore, loads of sodium.

6. You're not eating enough breakfast - it's no wonder your metabolism is slower and you're not losing weight.

Here's my challenge for you. I want you to just change ONE thing. I want you to eat a breakfast that is filling, substantial, and interesting - every day!

My breakfast takes less than a minute to prepare, it is around 470 calories, contains all my daily fibre needs, and keeps me feeling full until lunch time. It's the one thing that has made all the difference for me in being able to lose weight this time around.

And if you're interested it's:

• 1.5 cups Uncle Toby's HealthWise breakfast cereal (262 cals)
• 0.5 cups HiLo milk (60 cals)
• 5 almonds (45 cals)
• 5 pitted prunes (50 cals)
• Whatever fruit I feel like (strawberries, grapes or what's around - 50 cals)

Barb: YAY you're back! I'm so pleased to see you in here and feeling positive. Everyone here knows what it's like to lose weight and put it back on, but the important thing is you're back and in the right frame of mind.

Hey Gen - I had one of those days yesterday too… and one the day before! But a lightbulb went off this morning when I got up - feeling really irritated with myself and my lack of self-control. I won't bore you with what I realised, but I understood something I couldn't see before.

The most important thing, I think, is that we just move on from those "binge" days and jump back into those better habits we have learned.

Lindor we have to help you find ways to make food more interesting, and I will give that some thought. I hate cooking, and do eat more of those frozen dinners than I should, but I'm getting bored with them - and I eat them less and less often.

With the warmer weather, do you get excited about cold meat and salads? Are there shops near you that make interesting salads or other stuff?

Anyway - my next new housemate arrives tomorrow. She's only here for six weeks, so hopefully she will be OK! Knowing me and the way I am such an excellent judge of people, she could be an axe-murderer escaping from American justice

After my binge yesterday I feel bloated and awful, and I'm tempted to not eat anything today - but I'll proceed as normal and aim for 1600 calories, a walk, and plenty of water.

Ah, the relief of confessing all to you non-judgemental types...! thanks ladies

Barb, welcome back!! I know the feeling, I moved from Syd to Mel and gained 8 kgs, was almost too embarrassed to come back, but I'm glad I did - I have lost almost all of it again. As you already know, it's just one step at a time again, you'll be fine as long as you get started now. LOVE the quote in your sig, by the way!

Vonni, I totally agree with Ani's post - you're not eating enough calories. (Aren't we wise when it comes to other people's menus LOL?) Also, I don't believe CK would have recommended 1000 cals for you - 1200 is the absolute minimum to keep your engine running, let alone getting out and being active. You need to increase your intake with stuff to stop you getting hungry, and try to stick to the protein/fat/carb ratios that CK recommends. Even if you ate the same cals of "good food", you'd be more toned than if you just eat carbs and fat - might help you make it back into your pants! Ooh, that sounds wrong, doesn't it? LOL

So my goal for today - eat 1200 cals, exercise at least 500 cals at the gym (back to the crosstrainer...) and drink my 3L of water.

PS Vonni - FLora ProActiv Light is the best margarine I've found, calorie and taste-wise. Also Bertolli olive oil margarine is pretty good.

HAHA GEN@back into my pants.

Ani I know I have been bad bad bad. Lunch disappears when I do a 9.30-2.30shift. I have my 10 minute break at 12 and its not enough time to eat anything substantial. So I have a bar of choc.

And by the time I finish and get out its to close to tea time.

You will be please to hear though this morning I got up an hour earlier and had a poached egg and baked beans on a piece of toast.

..... interesting SOMEONE SENT ME THIS EMAIL:

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminium foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminium foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

Hey Kel, here are some of the things I snack on (and can I say that when I drink enough water throughout the day I am a lot less inclined to snack):

• a banana
• 2 ryvitas with avocado, cheese and tomato
• a punnet of strawberries
• an oven-baked fruit bar
• a 'fun-size' Picnic (that way I can control my chocolate calories)
• small bowl of Snakatas (when I have a potato chip craving)
• lebanese bread and low-fat dip
• home-made fruit salad

Vonni maybe you could take a pre-prepared snack to work, and have that in your 10-minute break. It would give you more energy than chocolate to get through the next few hours of work.

And yes - I am super-proud of your breakfast.

Gen, you'll be pleased to know I went to my doctor this arvo and got some Rulide. He bulk-billed me as a "reward" for losing more weight.

Ok, so I am feeling really tired and frustrated with everything, and that brings me to think illogically...

...for a moment I wondered if you used Diet Coke does it leave the fat behind??

And that'll be about all I'll offer tonight as I seem to be lacking all motivation toward weight loss just now that I don't think there is anything I can say that will be inspirational or helpful to anyone.

Ani, we have a Woolworths and an IGA store here, neither of them have a deli that would offer pre-made salads and fresh cold meats. Both have a bakery section that offer fresh bread, cakes, yummy pies and sausage rolls however!

We get pre-packed, processed meats in the chiller sections of both stores.

So far as fresh fruit and veg goes, I bought a fresh fruit tray from IGA some months ago only to get through an apple and a plum before I picked up the peach and discovered a mass of maggots squirming around on the tray!! If I buy salad stuff to make my own salads at home 90% of that stuff rots untouched in the bottom of my fridge.

Gawd! Listen to me!! Why am I so negative about this? You all offer so much in the way of advice, support and ideas and I sit here and find excuses or reasons not to use it to my advantage! What I need is a really good shove in the right direction...I just wish I knew how to get that shove!

I need to turn my attitude around!!

Tomorrow, it'll be a positive post from me!! Even if it is to say I am proud of myself for eating too much of the wrong stuff again!
