I would just say, "I have my eating plan worked out already, thanks".

The last 2 days have gone really well, I've been right on track in terms of nutrition and have also exercised both days.

Here's to another good day today!

Jayley, that is tough. I find that it's so hard to know what to do as it is - there's just so much information out there and so many differing opinions as to what works. I guess you just need to find what works for you and try not to think too much about the rest.

There are 3 other women in my office currently on diets and we're all doing it totally differently. I'm just sticking to what I know and try not to think about what their opinions are

jayley - are they success stories?? how much weight have they lost? ask them these questions maybe and they will realise they are not experts and that you need their advice as much as they do?

Jayley in a way I agree with Gen. If it bothers you tell them that. Take their advice with a grain of salt. You can learn a lot from other people, but at the same time they could probably learn a lot from you to. I find that while most people profess to know a lot about a everything, they really only know a little about a lot of things. You could listen quietly, and if you find any info helpful utilise it silently. That way you won't have them saying has it worked? have you done it? huh? huh? And that way, if something DOESN'T work for you, you won't have to answer to their quetioning. If something DOES work however, you could thank whoever it was for their info or you probably even have something of your own to share with them.

Cheers
Von

Jayley, are you sorry you asked ?

One of the most important favours you can do for yourself is to educate yourself about food and nutrition. There's a lot of misinformation out there (including from the mouths of well-meaning friends).

You'll feel less inclined to care what other people 'advise' you to do once you're more confident about your own choices. Are you planning meals, calorie counting?

People often try to be "helpful" with me, but I've learned to politely listen, take out the snippets I find useful, and discard the rest. If you are feeling patronised by your walking group – or like their "pet project" - be careful, because this isn't THEIR weight loss journey, it's yours. Are you an assertive woman? Are you able to tell them that their advice isn't helping you?

I've had another good day. Ate 1490 calories and drank 2L of water. No walking, but three hours of window cleaning, mopping and vacuuming made up for that.

Yoo hoo Lindor!!! Where art thou?

OK OK I GIVE UP!!!!!!! If I could find a little guy with his hands up with a little white flag. I would put him in here now.
I have been lurking around (again)and not really joining in. And have decided to come clean.
I gained just over a 1 kg, which is not that bad I suppose. considering the holiday, all that Aussie Food, and duty free booze, I have been stuuffing down this big gob of mine.
Nice to see new ones in here, HI,
And all the older wiser ones

gen, very, very nice house, I would think it is well worth the 2nd mortgage.

well back to the stove to start cooking healthy again. and I suppose back to the gym to get these wobbly bits movin And hopefully I will be back on track,

Be good people

Great to see you Mary! 1kg is okay, you can ditch that in a few weeks once you get back on track.

Where are you, Lindor? It's been ages, hasn't it!?

Yeah, yeah! Ok I am here! Although I think the wagon got here long before me!

What is it that has us sooo determined one day and then seemingly over night that determination just disappears?

I did so well while I was away last week, I did not over indulge on the free roomservice meals - I believe I kept within my limits! I took my own breakfast cereal to avoid the free cooked breakfasts, and I opted for a round of sandwiches over the cooked meal for lunch each day! I got home Friday afternoon and I have come totally undone!! Mondays weigh-in was up 400g on the previous week...I sense it will be up more again this Monday!

I am away again next week for work too. I need to get my head right before I go or I am going to totally screw up when I am away!

So...tomorrow morning is it! I am not going to let this drag on this time! It is straight back into it!

Oh yeah...if I say 'TOM' does that make it all better?

Jayley! Welcome aboard! I have people at work who are so full of advice for others who want to lose weight too. Weird thing is, they are the ones that have a problem, they are the ones munching into a peice of cake or chocolate while offering the advice saying 'it's the alcohol that is my problem not what I eat...when I stop drinking I lose weight'. I have learned to let them prattle on while I go about things my way! Listen to what they say...there is nothing that says you have to do as they say if you don't want to.

Mary! Don't you dare give up!!! There is only one person you are letting down if you give up! Stick with it ok!

Gen! Well done on the huge 2.2kg loss!!! Awesome work!! And well done on the house...it looks very nice! Do we get to see inside it? Or is that left to special friends??

Ok, I must go stand in front of the bathroom mirror and give myself a stern talking to! Hmmmm...maybe after a Tim Tam or two?

I am with Ani too, I MUST post my efforts every day! And I will...for tomorrow at least!

Have a good night people!!

Hi everyone

Nothing much to report here. Worked all day today, so no gym...but I did walk home, so that was 3km at a good clip, if nothing else.

Hi Jayley - thanks for dropping in! It's not usually an ambush of advice like that. Hope we haven't scared you off lol!

So what is your plan for losing weight? (if you dont' mind me asking). I'm not a very specific person, so my plan is eat healthy, don't eat junk food (it's a bloody waste of money...can you tell I'm a student?) and exercise when I can fit it in. What works for you?

Hi to the other girls, and big hello to Mary - we miss you when you're gone!

Kylie

Hi all,

Wow, thank you so much for all the much wanted advice. The people in the walking group include one that has done the Wesley Weight loss management program. Very big dollars but worked well for her. The other three folks have been skinny from birth and have trouble putting on weight.

Since I have done almost every diet in the book, I have opted for the no junk, three healthy meals a day, 5 veg and 2 fruit approach. I am also making sure that I walk for at least 30 minutes a day.

I will certainly try some of your suggestions, I think I will take the silent approach and see how we go.

Thanks again ladies.

Lindor! Step away from those Tim Tams

I've had another good day: 1500 calories, 2.4L of water. With any amount of luck I might actually lose some weight this week… that'd make a nice change.

Too late!

But I only had four or five...the dogs had the rest! And I already know what the vets say about giving dogs chocolate! I don't know, I don't think I really wanted the Tim Tams? But I am not going to tell you what else I have eaten today!

I feel yuck!

Hey everyone

I'm feeling really down about everything today. I didn't do any exercise yesterday and am feeling really blah. Sleeping lots more than I need to - 12 hours last night - and feeling fat and frumpy.

Today my goals are to eat well and to go to the gym after work.

no carrot today
but not really kick up bum either
i have perfected the art of maintenance
big surprise after trying every take out place in the neighbourhood due to lack of food and kitchen
87.7kg today
wondering if i will go to the gym..... still have car troubles...... so dont want to get stranded with baby.... (that happened twice last week in different loan cars) at least it not too hot this week

we just painted our front door dog kennel red, it is very bright.... hehehehe i bet that not quite the colour feng shui world imagines when it says red front door brings good luck

jayley the wesley weight managment is cheating really.... unless they were so fat that they were about to die.......... what you are doing now is not a diet, it is a positive life change which will mean you will never have to diet again.
