Thumbs down Happy Saturday

Hi All

I was able to get in a good walk today. Feel so much better when I can really get out there and sweat

Here's my breakfast and lunch

1 piecie WW bread
scrambled egg
milk
coffee

salad with greens, cheese and turkey

Thought you might be interested in this quote from one of the authors re: SB Luis Balart

LB: You are absolutely right. The general recommendation, say for a 24 hour period or a day, is that we should follow the general accepted guidelines, which basically break down to somewhere around 40 of carbohydrates, 40 of protein, and maybe 30 or less of fat. You can do that and still get a good balanced meal. If you look at this way of eating, the natural inclination will probably be to eat a little more protein. So you might be eating a tiny bit more protein than normal. We think that would still be within a good balance. This is not like an Atkins, say, a very severe carbohydrate-restricted diet. And the other important message that we try to bring to people is that we are not saying no carbohydrates. We are saying choose the correct carbohydrates and you are still going to be eating a good solid number of carbohydrates in a 24-hour period. But they are just going to be the ones that are better for you. And so we are sticking with the traditional 40-40-30 or 40-40-25. You are going to have to be somewhere around there, because that is a good balance.

So remember on SB carbs are ok as long as they are the legal ones! Go for very low glycemic carbs. The SB kids book has a food pyramid that is very interesting. If you haven't checked it out you might want to.

Gator loved the butterfly...

Hi Everyone

I missed you all yesterday also didn't get my lunch posted. I was out most of the day. Went on a free trip to the casino including a free buffet lunch. Didn't win anything but then didn't lose much either. . Started off well with lots of salads, the usual greens and things also a bean/chickpea salad. Had a small slice of roast pork, a piece of chicken breast and a small whole wheat bun plus some more salad as the only hot veggie was corn. Then I had to pig out on dessert. I had a small serving of fruit salad, mainly canteloupe and honeydew then some pudding with bread on top but it was very light, more like an egg custard, then I had a pastry - it was chou pastry filled with cream. I was really stuffed when I was finished. After all that I didn't need much for dinner last nite. Anyway to-day is another day and I am back on track. For lunch I had grilled tilapia and 2 cups of mixed veggies - green/yellow beans, green peas, snowpeas, carrots and one small red pepper.

Gator - What a gorgeous butterfly.

Beachfan - I'm glad you posted that quote from Dr. Balart.

I can testify that you can eat carbs and still lose as long as they are the low glycemic ones. Somedays I will have a total of 180-200 gms of carbs and have still been able to lose. I am losing very slowly but that is better than the standstill I was at for about 18 months. At least for me the secret is to have lots of low carb/low gi veggies and a couple of servings of fruit daily and restrict the so-called starchy carbs which have more carbs per serving as well as being higher gi. I also do o.k. with beans/lentils etc. which have quite a high carb content but are mainly low gi. Also quite a large part of my carb intake is from milk as I will often have about 3 cups of milk during the day. This will sound like a lot to most of you but since the beginning of May I have been using Fit-day and aiming for about 1900 calories daily. I wouldn't have thought that I could lose with consuming this amount of calories but it seems to be working. I just have to make sure that I get most of them in by dinner time. Sorry for rambling.

Teensy - Have a good weekend. Good luck to your son in the rodeo. I really can't see any problem eating a few beets once in a while. They have quite a low carb content so even though the gi is given as 64 the gi load for an 80gm serving is only 4.3. So even if you had twice that much which would be about 5 oz. the g. load would still be below 10.

Heartmom - Glad to see you are on the way down again. Yes, red grapes are legal.

Quilter - Good to see you are back and glad you had a good time with your girl friends.

BOB - Enjoy your movies. I've never heard of anyone chomping on their tongue while grinding their teeth. Thank heavens you woke up in time. That could have been a calamity.

BKM - Welcome back. Hope you can stay awhile this time. I know you have had a difficult time but I hope things are settling down for you. Glad to hear that ZsuZsu is doing so well. What is the abdominal banding surgery? Is this where they tie up your stomach?

CountryMom You are doing great with the walking. It is so much nicer to have company.

Well I'd better stop here. Have the kitchen to clean up also want to get out to the shops again.

I'm not sure if I will be around tomorrow as I may be going on a trip with my dd. But I will definitely be back to start the board for Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Marie.

Girls, somebody help me. We're staining our deck and I'm about to go nuts. So boring. We've been working about 2+ hours and have hardly gotten any of it done. There's so much to go. I'm miserable. Just came in for a drink.

NARDA, the house turned out great! We're saving $$$ by doing the deck ourselves. Maddie was in a snit while I was gone. Paul said she was giving herself a big pity party. (My words, not his.)

COUNTRY, thanks for the welcome back. I hope life slows down a bit so I can get back to normal. Keep walking. You are doing great!

ROSALIE, every time you mention tilapia my mouth waters. I have to remember to pick it up next time I'm at the store. Don't beat yourself up for overdoing it at the dessert bar. Those kinds of things happen. Just recommit and start over which is exactly what it sounds like you did. Good going!!!

Gotta go. Paul's going to wonder where his painting partner went. :-)

Hello all:

I'm usually not on here on the weekends, but my husband and oldest daughter went to a Diamondbacks baseball game today and I just put my baby down for a nap (she's not sleeping though, hopefully soon). It's quiet and I thought I'd take this opportunity to jump on for a few minutes.

For breakfast I had one of my Almond Oat bars that I made with a glass of milk (I ate it on my way to the gym). I then had some Blue Bunny Yogurt when I got home. For lunch, I grilled some chicken strips, onions & bell peppers and stuffed them in a half pita with sliced tomatoes & avocados. I had a little cottage cheese on the side (it really hit the spot). For dinner I am making salmon, shrimp, broccoli and rice pilaff (I won't eat the rice). I will have a salad in place of the rice.

I am pretty much staying where I've been as far as weight. I was 125.5 this morning. Could I have met my ideal weight? I'm not sure if I am going to lose anymore or not. How do you ever really know?

Gator: Beautiful picture!

Teensy: Congrats on the 168; I see you've been busy posting on the exercise board!

heart: I think that all grapes are legal on Sugarbusters. I know from everything I've read, stress is placed on avoiding sugary foods because you can find satisfaction in eating fruits that are sweet. I think most grapes are pretty low on the g.i. Congrats on losing some of the weight you put on while away.

Quilter: Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Good luck with that tedious staining job.

BigKnights: Hi. Sorry to hear about all you've been through. Glad to see you are getting your life back on track, as well as your eating. Welcome back!

Country: I am glad to hear that the Swiss Miss cocoa is good. Do you think too much of it could cause problems (maybe 3-4 cups per week)? That is probably how much I will have when the weather cools off.

BOB: OUCH with the tongue. I somehow bit my tongue when we were on vacation (the side of it). It took a very long time to heal, and it was tough to even eat. It really hurt. I put some medication on it at times, but that would numb it and I would re-bite it. It is very painful, and there is little you can do. I found that gargling with peroxide helped some and kept the area clean. Hope you feel better soon. I hope you don't bite it in your sleep again!

Rosalie: Sounds like your casino trip was fun! Don't worry about rambling; all the info. you posted was enlightening. It is all educational for most of us. Thanks for your insight.

Well, better go do some cleaning up and prep for dinner.

Take care, and I will check in on Monday (sometime). My oldest daughter has swim lessons, and then my youngest has a dr's appt. and I am going to be going out with some other moms (our monthly Moms Night Out). We are just going to Fuddruckers to hang out, but I'll take it!

See ya!

Default Could someone look at this label for me?

I absolutely LOVE this bread..Please go to the URl below and tell me that it is ok. I have been eating 2 pieces a day for a while now with no stalls and lossing.....it even had nuts in it. It's really, really good! It's called "Brownberry Natural Health Nut" Cathrine Clarks original recipe. 1 and 1/2 pounds for a little over $2

I scanned the ingredients label...(URL below)

http://www.geocities.com/vatrovia/graphics/bread.jpg

Thank you.

EDITED to say: work...if you copy and paste it in your URL box, it'll work. Probably won't work casue it's at a Geocities site and they don't allow off site posting of graphics

Good day:'

I just wanted to tell you all to go check the recipe section out (if I can figure it out). I just made some mini chocolate chip cheesecakes that are delicious. The entire family LOVES them, and they break down to be less than 1 gram per sugar per mini cheesecake.

I'll be checking in on Monday.

Take care.

Thumbs down Gorgeous Sunday

Hi All

The weather here is beautiful. It is very hot but the sun is shinning so bright and pretty today. Hubby and I will go for a walk later this afternoon when it has cooled off some. Son is at the pool and daughter is at a dance camp so the house is empty. We're using the time to get the house clean!

Bought a new computer yesterday and love it. The new ones are so much faster! my other one was only 4 years old but definitely an oldie. We've set it up as a second station for the family.

Rosalie, like you I eat the carbs as long as they are low GI. I lost before and am still losing that way. The only difference this time is I have to eat less calories to lose Last time I was losing on 1800 a day but this time it takes 1300-1500 to lose. I think it is because I rebounded after I reached goal weight. That gives me a great incentive to keep this weight off. Next time I won't be able to eat anything if I rebound from goal

Quilter...we use a sprayer to stain the deck. It works and is easy. Next time you'll know!

Everyone else have a great day.

Good afternoon ladies-- Hot again today. We have been in the upper nineties, to one hundred degrees for the last couple of weeks! IT IS HOT!! The good thing is that we DON'T have high humidity.

I think the heat even affects those poor bulls. They were not bucking that great. Brant scored a 49 with an option for a reride. He took the reride and scored a 69! He was sitting in first place. They still had another rodeo to go on Sat. night, so haven't heard how he came out over all!!

Had a pretty good time at Down River Days, but it was hot! I fell off and had two beers and one wine!! There are 3 places in Ione to have drinks, and only one of them had any wine, so I had one beer at each of the other places. ( BOB--We bar hopped!) My sil and I were the first to leave. Guess we are the light weights!! She has asthma and needs to use her nebulizer (sp?) quite often. I needed to get something in my stomach, those drinks went straight to my head. So I didn't do too bad. I ate only the legal foods I brought!!

DH is taking off in the morning to go on a fishing trip with his nephew. He is leaving at 4 am, so I am trying to get his laundry done up and packed.

Pancho-- Thanks for the info on Splenda, I use it and Stevia. I have the stevia extract powder, and I make a liquid out of it. Yes, I have been busy exercising.... I love the TBT! I really think that is why the weight seems to be going again so well. I split my workouts into upper and lower body. Then one week I do upper M-W-F, lower T- TH. Then the next week I switch, doing lower on M-W-F. This seems to work out very well for me. I am not sure about this next week though. Have to get my baby girl, (Bassethound) in early Tuesday morning to get her teeth cleaned, and Wed morning early, I have to get my Mamogram. If I don't get my workout first thing in the mornings.... it usually won't get done!!

Heart-- I am glad the vacation weight is coming off smoothly. Grapes are legal. Isn't it funny how all of the fruits taste SO sweet now. I am really enjoying some peaches and they just make me smack my lips they are so sweet tasting.

Quilter-- Glad you had a wonderful time with your girlfriends. I love getting together with my bestfriend. Just doesn't seem like it is often enough. If all of us from High School got together......look out Spokane!!

BOB-- Stay Safe!! Love the image of the lightening!! Was practicing bar hopping, so get ready!!

Big-- Welcome Back!!

Wood-- Hope you have a very enjoyable vacation!! See you when you get back.

Country-- Doesn't it make you feel great!! I used to walk, but now I do the weight resistance training on my Total Body Trainer. I try for 5 days a week, and then take the weekends off. I love this little machine!! And I really think it is what is keeping the pounds coming off!!

Cherylco-- I knew the beets weren't legal, lol, just wondering how bad I can hurt myself if I decide to have a couple. I am not crazy about them unless they are fresh out of the garden. Don't care for the canned ones!!

Gator-- The butterfly is beautiful!! I planted some wildflowers, and the mix was supposed to be for attracting butterflies, and hummingbirds!! I seem to have alot of both, so it must have worked. Since we have been back from ND, I have had to fill three hummingbird feeders up 4 times!!

Beach-- Thanks for the great info.

Rosalie-- OOOhhh, I love going to the casino's. We have only come out ahead a couple of times, but it is soooo much fun! And the buffets are WONDERFUL!! Thanks for the info on the beets. I just wanted a few, as I just heard of roasting them in the oven....and it sounded sooo good!!

Enjoy the last of your weekend!!

Talking Greetings from a newbie

Hello there! My name is Kelly, and Cheryl found me over on forums.lowcarb.org and told me to try 3FC. So here I am!

I've been on SB since Friday, July 25 and I am already down 4 pounds (surely it is all water weight). I did Carb. Addicts diet in 2000, but it only lasted about a month because I found myself bingeing during my reward meal and that sort of scared me.

I'm now trying to convince my parents to give SugarBusters a try.

Nice to meet you all.
Kelly

PS- I hope I posted right. :-)

Evening All

Just got back from my trip with my dd to take two of her kids to camp. It's about a 2 1/2 hour ride from here. I thought I did very well with my eating to-day as I had my usual cereal for breakfast. Stopped at Wendy's for lunch and had a Mandarin Chicken Salad - don't like the dressing that comes with it so went without any dressing. I was feeling quite hungry and was tempted to have some french fries but decided to have some chili instead - thought that would be a better choice. The only snack I had to-day was an apple on the way home. Anyway to get to the purpose of my tale we decided to go out for dinner. Now by this time it was almost 7 o'clock and I was starving. Was planning on going to Swiss Chalet but passed a Boston Pizza and as we had never eaten there before and my gs is due to start working there this week he thought it would be a good idea to go there. So I decided on the veal parmagiana which I thought was a reasonable choice. I figured the pasta was legal, and if there was a lot of breading on the meat I could remove it but there was very little breading. Anyway I enjoyed the meal and didn't feel overstuffed and when I came home I decided to check the nutritional information on their website. I couldn't believe how many calories and fat grams were in that meal. 1220 calories and 62 grms of fat for one darn meal. You can be sure I won't be going back there for that meal again.

Groovia - Welcome to the board. Yes you did post to the right place. Tomorrow morning though we will be starting a new board so if you post tomorrow that is where you should post. Sounds like you have made a good start on sb. Hope you can persuade your parents to join you.

I'm feeling very stiff this evening after spending about 5 hours in the car to-day. I'm thinking that I should go and do a few stretches to loosen up a little. Anyway I will be back to badminton tomorrow afternoon and then lawn bowling in the evening as long as it doesn't rain.

Bye for now.

Marie.
