Well WIW was surprising to me. I was at 125, which is about where I've been (between 125-127), but yesterday I had way too many starchy carbs. For breakfast I had some shredded Wheat with Uncle Sam sprinkled in it. For lunch I had chicken salad in a pita, for dinner I made fajitas and had 2 of my La Tortilla tortillas (soft taco size). BUT that's not all. I made some almond oat squares and had one when they were finished baking, and had a small bowl of popcorn my husband popped. I am sure it will catch up to me by tomorrow, so I am going to be good today. I had some Blue Bunny yogurt for breakfast with a little gram's granola. For lunch I am going to have a chicken caesar salad (no croutons) and I'm not sure what's for dinner yet.

Anyway....that's my news for this morning; nothing too exciting to report here.

Monet: It is so easy to let a few little cheats mess us up. I think it is not only the sugar/carb addiction, but for me it's a mental thing. I tell myself, "I've already screwed up, I might as well do it big." Pretty stupid, but I do that! You will get back on track soon. You have been a motivation factor to me; you originally started answering my posts on the Low Carb forum when no-one else was over there, and I appreciate your wisdom and insight on SB. You feel good when you are on plan, so that is where you will be soon.

Jack: The book I mentioned is not a cookbook, but a book about ways to get sugar out of your life. There are some recipes throughout but not a whole lot. They encourage the use of natural products, but also use a lot of honey and molasses and pineapple juice and stuff like that. I've had to play with some of the recipes to make them taste edible without using some of the ingredients called for. Good luck staying OP during your vacation, but remember having fun is the most important thing. You are so close to goal, and you've lost it before. If you happen to gain a few, you will lose it again. Just have a great time!!!

BOB: I am sure you are relieved to know what is going on, although not the best news. I hope the meds work for you and you do not have to go through any type of surgery. That would not be an easy surgery to go through or recover from, I am sure.
I will keep you in my prayers!

Lady: You crack me up! You sound just like I did at first. After doing Atkins for 2 months I couldn't believe the options you have on SB. I deprived myself for two months and struggled to lose the weight, and then started SB and felt like I was "cheating" big time. BUT, I continued to lose weight and feel great. I was pleasantly surprised at the taste of the WW pasta. I didn't think I would like it at all, but I do. My five-year old never even noticed when I switched over, and my husband says he likes it better. He says it has a heavier texture and tends to fill him up more. I am starting my 12-month old out on it from the gate, so she will never know the white stuff, unless eating out. It is hard not to eat too much though. I always have a salad and another veggie with it, and eat it more as a side dish instead of the main course. I have made a lot of yummy stuff with those WW noodles. I made a goulash one night, and a chicken pesto another, and then there is the standard spaghetti. You will be very happy on SB if you continue to experiment. I can relate to the Uncle Sam cereal; I sprinkle it into my oatmeal or shredded wheats (more for the fiber than anything). I don't think I would like it by itself. It is also higher in fat than some of the other cereals that you can have (try shredded wheat by Post, and even the Cheerios in the yellow box only have 1 gram of sugar per serving).

Gator: I am so sad to hear about your dad; I will continue to pray for him, and hope the doctors make the right decisions for him. Wow, I bet the butterflies are beautiful; how neat!! Congrats on the 2 pounds.

Toni: WOW, 5 1/2 pounds. That's great. Keep up the good work!!!

Take care everyone!

Weigh in Wednesday is upon us! I've lost a little weight, that's probably why I'm so enthusiastic about it! *lol*

I am down two more pounds to 203.5 -- What an awesome WOE! This is so much better than Atkins, and I'm losing just as much weight -- I love it.

BTW, I have two questions:

1. Is pumpernikel bread legal?

2. Where can I find the cobbler recipe that someone posted a few weeks ago -- I am dying to try it!

Thanks, And congrats to all you losers and maintainers!

Hi everyone!

Well I just bought the SB book yesterday, and have it just about finished. I was on Atkins for a few weeks, lost 5lbs, but I was unhappy the whole time. I never got over the fact that all carbs were bad, it just seems wrong to me. This diet or WOE seems so healthy! I'm very excited to get started and this is such a cool board! But I have to say (and i'm sure a lot of newbies have) the book is a bit confusing. I really like to have a plan layed out so I can follow it the best way. The time to eat fruit, and carbs has me lost. So this is what I think so far,
Fruit an hour before a meal, or two hours after, and not with any other food, right? And only 2-3 servings a day, as well as 2-3 starchy WW food right? And then veggies anytime, as long as they are "legal". I hope I got it right And the other thing is I know that the weight doesn't fall off like on Atkins, but what is an average amount of weight to lose in a week? I have 40lbs to lose and I want to lose it the healthy way so I don't gain it back. I do get ahead of myself!
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to getting to know everyone here, hope everyone has a great day!

thanks for the thoughts about my DF. He is now out of surgery and is doing OK. I will talk to him by phone this evening.

Cherylco--I was taking synthroid, but now am taking Armour Thyroid. I get a blood test in a couple of weeks, and I hope the results are better than they have been with the Synthroid.

Click here to go the the board that has the COBBLER recipe. It is the last recipe on that thread.

Pancho - It sounds like you were having a party yesterday.

Ghost - Real pumpernickel bread is legal if it is made with 100% whole grain rye flour but this is the really heavy stuff. You really need to check the ingredients as most of it does contain enriched flour. They just add some coloring and call it pumpernickel.

Just a quickie.

Toni, Girl you are doing AWESOME! Congrats on those 5 1/2 lbs. WOW.

Rosalie, I guess your suggestion for hibernating onthe weekends is what I'm going to have to do. Much too social. Stying the same ifs ok. I'll trade you.

Pancho. Thanks for straightening me out ont he book. I still would like to read it. You are doing great. Hang in there.

Ghost, WTG on those 2 lbs. This is much better than Atkins. the bread is legal only if there is no enriched flours. Check out the recipe board for the cobbler.

Sherry, if you can lose 1-2 lbs a week that will be good. It will slow down too. Idon't do the fruit thing, don't have any digetion problems.

Gator, glad your DD is out of serugery. Still sending prayers his way.

I think I forgot to post my lunch today. It was 1 pc ww bread and chicken salad. Orange. Didn't have much time to eat since I went and got my hair cut on my lunch hour. had some cashews for a snack.

Dinner is pita pizzas.

Have a great evening.

GOOD CLOUDY AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!

Looks like the bottom of the sky is going to fall any minute! It's getting dark out there!

WELL...this is Doc week for BOB ...
Went to see the medical Doc this morning...he patted me on the back and said...."Narda, there a lot of you here that you don't need ya know?" Here's the plan...he likes the way I'm eating and doesn't want me to change that....he is starting me on Wellbutrin AGAIN, but different dosage....one complete month
with just the Wellbutrin and then start the patches to stop the smoking upping the dosage of the Wellbutrin to two a day from one a day. He said "I'm gonna give you something to combat the weight (paxil causes wgt gain) and it will help your head too!" To which I replied...
"What's wrong with my head?" .....His reply...."Well, you've got to be CRAZY to smoke in the first place!!!!!"
I have to have intensive BLOOD WORK and he said if my cholesterol and my triglycerides have not come down from last year, I have to start medication for that!!! AND I have to have my first COLONOSCOPY!
DAMN TURNING 50!!!! I'm going for the annual BOOBIE SQUASHING tomorrow afternoon and that's not something that I look forward to...I have a petrified lymph node that shows up every now and then ( they found that years ago when I had a breast biopsy) and it's hung around this time longer than usual...makes me sweat to think about it....FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED FOR THAT PLEASE!!!!
I think that's it for now....GAWD....isn't that enough!!!!

Thanks to all of you for the good thoughts about my pinched nerve and the other thing...just wish we could see into the crystal ball

JACKIE...is it this week you leave on your trip????? I've got fingers and toes crossed for good weather... have a few of those
GIRLIE DRINKS for me...and
I KNOW YOU'LL HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!!

LADYV...I've never tried the pasta...afraid that if I get started, I won't stop! Next time I'm in L'ville to see my niece, you, Jackie and I will have to get together...

TEENSY....good thoughts coming your way with the cardiology problem...let us know the results...

GATOR...you've got to get some pictures of the back yard posted.
Having seen the beginning of your work out there, I'm anxious to see what it looks like now. Still got good thoughts for your DOD

SHERRY....WELCOME {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} Good to have you here with us...

PANCHO...thanks for the prayers...I'm gonna need them...!!!!!

MARIE...how's your weather up there???? Is it as hot as it is down this way? I think about your lawn bowling and what a sweat that must bring on!!!

TONI...no surgery now, but who knows down the road...I've always thought that if you start hacking and sawing on the neck and back that it's just the start of more and more....Thanks for your thoughts...

CHERYL....fixable yes, but how intense will it be when we get started???? Thanks for your thoughts...

BEACH...Maybe I ought to come up there to that Sports Medicine
specialist that they have at Baptist Hospital in Birmingham...they say he's the best there is...Thanks you for your concern!

Well....it's time to fee the FURBABY
and I guess I better get Kate something on a plate too...
Hope everyone has a great evening....

BOB

Breakfast today: SB recipe pancakes topped with fresh strawberries and 1 T SF syrup.

Lunch: Fandango salad at Panera Bread--lettuce, some mandarin orange segments, feta cheese, walnut pieces, vinagrette dressing, 1/4 sourdough roll
All this was 435 calories.

Dinner: 1/2 roasted cornish game hen with 10 whole garlic cloves with pan juice reduction, chopped spinach

This will be about 1100 calories today.
I was only hungry from about 4:30 until dinner at 6:30.

OK BOB, I'll get my ole 35 mm. out and take some pix. I can do telephotos with that and not get too close to the butterflies. If I can get some file before the chrysalides hatch, I can try to capture that on film also. I can also get some "cute" caterpillars. My dh has a scanner and maybe he can figure out how to post the pix.

See ya later.
PS. Nobuddy showed for chat last night, at least for the 2 times I checked in.

Good evening ladies. It has been so hot here. We have been in the 100's for two days now. Seems like no matter how much water I pour to my lawn, it is just burning up. I have decided to concentrate on just the flowers and the garden from now on.

I finally got off my duff and found a new doctor. Mine retired a few years ago, and I had not replaced him. I found a small lump on the back of my arm and wanted to have it checked. I was sure that it was just a fatty tumor, but wanted to be sure. Yes, that is what she thinks it is too. We will keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't grow or get sore! I also thought it was time to have all the blood work done. You know the cholestrol, blood sugar, and all that stuff. But in the mean time, she found that I have a heart murmur. So today I went in for an echocardiogram. Won't know anything for a few days, and didn't really get any answers on what causes this OR what they can do. It will all depend on what they find. THIS WAS A TOTAL SHOCK!! Does anyone know anything about this?? She did ask if I had ever taken Phen-fen. Which I haven't.

Anyway, congrats to all you losers out there. I am one of the stayed the same this week!! Hope you will all be big losers next week. Keep up the good work all.

Beach-- Thanks for the words of comfort. Won't know anything for a few days yet.

Cherylco--Congrats on the loss!! Yeah, your a loser!!!

Jack-k-- Sorry that the scale is being so nasty to you this week. Have a great vacation....and then hit her hard again when you get home!!

Toni--Wow, that is awesome. 5.5 pounds is great!! Hope it continues to melt away for you.

Rosalie-- I too stayed the same this week, but that is so much better than gaining. For some reason I seem to be hungrier than usual too. I still have my dear TOM with me, maybe that is it. Anyway I hope that is all.

Pancho-- Good idea for today. I usually try to go without something if I over do. Is popcorn legal??

Ghost-- Way to go on the weight loss this week. Isn't this a great way of eating??

Sherry-- WELCOME TO SUGAR BUSTER'S!! The weight loss will vary from person to person. Some are losing 2-3 pounds a week, some .5 -1, or even up to 5. Each person is different, and so your miles may vary!!

BOB-- I swear we are on the same wave length. My mamogram is on the 30th, with the other exam on the 11th, (PAP) got my rear chewed big time by this new doctor. My doctor retired a few years ago, and I have put off finding a new one, until now! So have been without the yearly exams. Had all the blood work done today. Oh well. Hope that the Wellbutrin and the patches do the trick for you. I quit 3.5 years ago, and Thank God every day that I did!! You can do this!!
Heart-- Hello to you too!!

Woodfrog-- Whoo Hoo!! Your losing it my friend!! lol.

Good Thursday Morning.

Ah, my last day of work. I love it.

The boards are slow this week. Is it due to our leader being gone?

Spent all night washing and packing. Have everything ready to go except for for hair and makeup stuff. Guess we will head for Cincinnati after dinner.

Kim, I guess you are on vacation. Wish we could have met up tonight.

Bob, I got a good laugh out of your Dr's comment on you smoking. And I have to say I agree. They are trying to pass a no smoking law for Louisville and after listening to all the commercials I have to say I hope it passes. You really need to quit that. Man this is the week for Dr's. Can you toture yourself any more? Sending good thoughts your way on the boobie squashing. I have something like that and even though I know it will show up and really don't have to worry about it, I still do. Yes we leave for Cincy tonight. Flying out of there Friday morning. I will have a good time. I usually have a good time no matter what I do. I'll have a few drinks for you since you are twisting my arm.

Gator, that salad from Panera sounds delish. I will be checking that out.

Woodfrog, congrats on another 2 lbs. When you have those stressful days, just think about those 2 pounds you lost and how you don't want to have to lose them again.

Beachfan, hope that headache is better today.

Heartmom,

Teensy, sounds like you and BOB are both doing the Dr thingy this week. I don't know, but don't think murmurs are that serious. But wait and see what your doc says. Keeping my for you.

Lunch today will be 1 pita pocket pizza and an apple.

I tried some shorts on last night and they were a little snug. Boy was I bummed out. I really don't think the 3 lbs I'm up should make that much difference so I really think it's from not working out and walking as much. So I and totally resolved to hitting this hard again as soon as we get back. Exercise and eating. They have a fitness center at the hotel, and I will be there every day. Plus DH will walk my butt off. It is a topless beach and he likes to see the sights

I will really miss you all. I'm going to be as good as I can there.

Bob, send me an email of anythign that happens that I need to know about while I'm gone if you will.

Love you guys.

Jackie.
