Hello again, ladies!

I've been lurking but not posting, mostly because I haven't been a "good girl" with my eating. I never really even started SB-just read the book & the boards & wished I had the nerve to take the plunge! The thought of living without potatoes and wine makes me crazy (I know, I know - that half full glass thing...I should focus on all the great things I CAN have and quit feeling sorry for myself about what I CAN'T have!).

But I know I have to make some serious changes...I'm tired of feeling lousy. I'm not the "diet" type (which is good!) but I've been looking for a WOE that makes sense, isn't a fad thing that will harm my health, and is something I can stick to forever. SB makes the most sense of anything I've ever read, and my endocrinologist recommended it.

Just need a shove toward motivation...I'm scared. Does that make any sense?!?! It's just been easier to stay in denial. Tell me there's success ahead of me if I give up my addiction to potatoes!!!

Hey, CATHY H - we're sorta neighbors! I live south of Cleveland. Snowing here too. Yuck.

DEBELLI - thanks for all your hard work.

Good morning!!!

Sorry I didn't get to post last night, but I had a rotten day at work and bad news at the doctor..... home to make dinner.... then stamp club.... then bed.

I'll be starting the WIW board in a minute. I had been doing it on Wednesdays, but I should do it at the same time I post the weekly losses.

I really like FitDay. It is really helping me to keep track of what I'm eating and it's starting to show on the scales as well. Can't wait until tomorrow for the official loss.

Well it turns out I will have to have this lump on my wrist taken care of. I went to the doctor on Friday, and he sent me to a specialist. I saw him yesterday, and he's concerned about the lump. He says it's sitting right on a branch of nerves and an artery, and doesn't feel like a ganglion nor is it in a place where ganglions normally are. He wants to take it out and biopsy it. We're shooting for the 15th, as soon as my insurance approves it. I'll keep you posted.

I'm sorry I can't post individually this morning. It's difficult when you get behind!!

Hugs,
Connie

21 inches of snow - it took DH 1.5 hours to blow our long driveway so I could get out...

Just wanted to ask all for good thoughts pointed at California today, that my Dad's catscan shows just scar tissue or something in his lungs. I'm really scared...

I'll try to post later, kids are at my office and I can't concentrate....

Well we are snowed in here! YUK and the kids are home. I didn't go to my WW meeting i will try to get there tomorrow. I don't know if i lost a oz! LOL I had a baking urge again i don't know why the weather does this to me. I did o.k with it the kids where shocked when i kept saying they could have more! LOL
As far as excersise today i think it will be shoveling and bowling with the kiddies! Then tomorrow back to my regular thing -not my walk I hate walking in boots! LOL
I was trying to think of a tip I think i gave them all to everyone! One tip would be to take a before picture because they are motivating! When i see older pictures of me i can't believe how much healthier i look now. http://www.geocities.com/rhroo_99/index.html
that is my picture page-someone mentioned it wouldn't come up -hope it works some of the pics are not that great i don't have many full body shots! (ya know i was the one taking the pics! LOL) I mentioned my best friend losing weight also she saved a pair of jeans we plan on taking a picture in them when we are at goal. She is down about 80 and me 56 at goal we will have lost well over 150 together!
Cathy-you sound like you are doing great just do what you should be doing the weight will follow! How you feel is much more important i think! Was it you who asked about the wow chips??? they are not legal! I think they are potatoes! LOL i maybe wrong not an expert! keep up the great work
Deb-glad you don't have to do all that extra work right now. Let us know when your plan to get the menu board up!!! Nice to see the 139 still!
viv-hope your dad is going to be o.k. It must be hard living so far away sometimes you feel helpless. Did you get any snow last night?
Ebabe-keep up the good work those cravings will be gone! I was a major carb freak i don't even bat an eye at them anymore!
cherianne-welcome and good luck keep us posted and let us know if we can help you sound really motivated!
christian-glad you had a minute to breath and tell us what was up with you-I love ezicials a whole loaf lasts me about a month!
cmd-hope everything works out with your wrist-are you in pain? You are always so uplifting thanks for that!
gotta go get the kids in their "snow gear" lol what a chore alone-the 5 yr old goes out for 10 minutes! this after 15 min. of getting ready! She only does that so she can get hot cocoa when she comes in!!! My snow bunny!!! Good luck everyone! I will have some kind of weigh in tomorrow hope its a good one! I need a boost

Really enjoying this program! Still tweaking it as I probably will be for a while yet.

My tip for this Tuesday is:
something that w.w. gals will know by heart, JOURNALLING. (sp?)

One of the seven steps offered in "Potatoes not Prozac" is to keep a food journal that includes besides what and when you ate, how you felt physically and emotionally through the day.

That part was a a big eye opener for me. I noticed that I got a huge urge to eat more after a handful of peanuts and I felt much more "balanced" if I chose tricuits and cheese. What ever works for you, I say.

Enjoy your day,
See ya at the weigh in tommorrow,

Hello everyone! Today I started this WOE. Just so everyone can critique me here is what I will have had for the day:

Breakfast:
1 boiled egg
1 slice Ezekiel Bread (toasted and "rubbed" with butter)
6 oz. of pure 100% orange juice (no sugar added)

Lunch:
Salad made with: mixed lettuces, green pepper, cucumber and green onion.
2 oz chedder chees
4 triscuits

Snack: Apple

Dinner:
Baked chicken
brown rice
green beans

Snack:
12 Walnuts

Does this sound ok?

Thanks everyone for your support.

Hey Everyone - wanted to let you know my Dad is done with the catscan but now we are in limbo until Thursday when the doctor gets the results. I am not good in limbo....

On the bright side, this WOE is amazing. I made peanut butter cookies for my kids and their buddies while they were out digging forts in our mounds of snow (I am SUCH a June Cleaver...not) and I wasn't even tempted to have one. That has NEVER happened. Usually I'll eat one...then another...then another....

Let's hope the scale provides some positive reinforcement for tomoro!

CHERI - Your menu looks awesome to me! I have tried to stay away from the starches at night because I am on a crash program here to get the ball rolling. I know that may not be necessary, but I've been plateauing on other plans for so long, I'm hoping it helps with my jumpstart.

More tomoro, got to dry the drippy snowpants. You just would not believe the snow.

RHOO - Where are ya in Mass? Were you in the same snowpath as us?

Hello Losers!!! (said with love - LOL)

Sunday and yesterday were spring-like days here in NE California, and now there's about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Whooohooo! peace to my soul!!!

Rhoo.... yes, lots of pain. And I'm cranky. But thanks for the compliment!!! My motto is "Fake it till you make it." Sometimes I don't fake it too well, and consequently don't make it.

Christie..... I love the sesame Ezekiel bread, especially toasted. With a bit of apricot Simply Fruit... yummy!!!

Viv..... where in California is your dad?

I'm "grilling" chicken tonight in my George Foreman grill. I don't know how we lived without it. It's the best, and so FAST!! I did fajitas last night, and ate the meat, onions and peppers without the tortilla. Little bit of cheese, little bit of taco sauce. Mmmmm mmmmm good!!

Another good treat I've had for lunch the last couple days.... triscuits with brie melted on them. I thought I'd died and went to food heaven!!!

I'm curious about the Potatoes versus Prozac book..... does it advocate eating potatoes....????

Off to cook some dinner....

Hugs,
Connie

Connie and All...The purpose of eating the potato is to help boost your tryptophan intake, which needs insulin to cross the blood-brain barrier.

"Eating a baked potato before you go to bed raises the insulin level in the blood and moves the tryptophan to your brain. Your serotnin level rises in the middle of the night. This may even help you dream in a healthy way."

"Does it have to be a potato? No, it can be any complex carbohydrate eaten without protein, like an apple, oatmeal (without milk or yogurt), a piece of fruit or even organge juice. But remember the slower the carbohydrate, the more effective the result."

quoted from Potaotes not Prozac by Kathleen DesMaisons

Just the other night I started this pratice with my personal favorite oatmeal as I experience bad nightmares and disturbed sleep. No nightmares but tons of action dreams! I think I'll keep it up for awhile and see if it makes a difference. Wish me luck.

Evening everyone,

I'm trying to get caught up on my rest and haven't been doing much with the computer.
NOT THAT THE SUPER CHICK WORE ME OUT OR ANYTHING....just went strong for the two days that I usually "gear down" on...BUT, I'm feeling a "rev" in my engine

FINALLY...check your private messages...

Got notification today from WW's that they are offering an online "etools" edition. This is evidently is going to be in edition to the once a week program meetings. This will cost $12.95 per month to access on their site. This in edition to the $11.00 I already pay for the meetings every week. It will include online journaling, points calculator, recipes, MENU PLANS, message boards etc...Now I can get last years model of the electronic points calculator for a one time price of $13.95 and write my own journal, plus get my recipes from you guys FOR FREE!!!! This is a no brainer for me...I'll take the second choice.....WHATCHA THINK???

Deb...I know you gave us a deadline for the food list, but I'm still working on mine. I hope things can be added in easily

BOY,,,all you people with the snow better keep those fires going..I don't envy you at all...We get cold down here if it gets into the 50's...

Quilter, keep us informed about your trip. Deb and I can probably work out a day trip. How long will you be in Parrish?

Someone else is coming real soon...WHO WAS THAT??? I ask because it's easier to do than go back thru the posts...who ever it was, where are you coming to? and how long are you staying?

Better get reclined...tonight is NYPD...

Have a good evening everyone.

Evening All

Eli had to run to work, an ex-employee came in and stole a CO2 canister that they found her getting high on in the past, so he has to call the Police and be there when they come. So, I have a few minutes to post.

Did anyone hear my daughter screaming her bloody little brains out?? She was on the radio and trying to win NYSNC concert tickets, and the one who screamed the loudest in enthusiasim won - boy she can scream! Needless to say, she won-crying like crazy, it was so cute!

We went to lunch today, but I felt a bit sick even before we got there, those raging hormones again! I ate part of my Cobb Salad and then had to go to the bathroom and make a face at the toilet, stopped at Alberstons and made a face at their toilet as well. Went and got some Carbolite thinking it would go down, nah uh, came home and got rid of the last of it. Now I'm back to normal, though there are those that will debate that I will never be normal If I don't show a loss tomorrow, I WILL be PISSED!!!!!!

MSLIZ, I hope you can find the willpower to start SB. Not even so much for the weight loss, but how much better you'll feel when you aren't consuming all those refined products. You'll be surprised that once you start, you won't be craving that potato-look, if I don't crave chocolate, trust me, in time, you won't crave a potato (at least I'd hope you wouldn't).

JOY, sorry to hear about your wrist, I hope it's not too serious. I must ask, stupid me, what is ganglion?? Do keep us posted. Yummy, triscuits with brie!!!

CHRISTIAN, glad to hear you're doing well. I think we all have to agree on how good the Ezekiel breads are!!

VIV, I'm sure I can say for all of us that we hope everything goes well for your Dad. Congrats on being able to turn your nose up at those cookies. Maybe one day you'll make some SB legal ones that you too can eat, and are healthier for the kids.

RHROO, hope the kiddies didn't drive you batty being home today. Hope you are able to get in your WW meeting tomorrow, good luck!

JANCAN, I always say, journaling is important-just bought two more little books to keep my info in. Please keep us updated on your oatmeal experiment, sounds interesting!

CHERIANN, hope you don't mind, but I am posting your info here for you as well. It always helps when others can see this too. Based on you wanting to be 1600-1800 calories, you can see you are falling very short of this goal. I didn't do the vegetables in the salad, very small amount, but did do the lettuce. Here is what I found

CALORIES EATEN TODAY
SOURCE GRAMS CALS %
Total: 1088
Fat: 54 489 47%
Sat: 18 162 15%
Poly: 17 149 14%
Mono: 14 122 12%
Carbs: 106 357 34%
Fiber: 16 0 0%
Protein: 50 199 19%

As you can see, you are really too low in calories, no where near what you want and need to consume. Carbs and protein are way too low. The fat grams where right on the money though (based on 1600 calories). Need a little more fiber as well. Hope this info. helps!!

BOB, did we tucker you out?? Whenever you have your menu info, send it along. I think I may post the breakfast ideas first, so if you have any, try to send them along when you can. The WW on line sounds interesting!

Again, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNEDAY!!!! and I am wishing you all the best of luck on the "metal monster."

Well gals, I'm pooped, going to hit the hay!!! I'll check in with you all sometime in the A.M.

Nite!

ALERT ALERT...I goofed when I put up the weekly excercise board and called it the weight loss board. I have started a new board with the right name I left the old one up so people could cut and paste their excercise to the right board. Sorry for the mistake and confusion.

Hi everyone...I'm still a crazy person at work so I will not be on the board much this week. I'll be lurking and saying high everyday

Oh and I'm really up today in weight and feel very bloated.

Hi everyone! Hey, I just noticed that my last 2 posts said I'm now a CHICK !!!

Belinda, thanks for that roasted broccoli receipe!! It's FANTASTIC!!! I did some broccoli, cauliflower & butternut squash mix with the olive oil spray & fresh garlic for supper tonight & we loved it. Hope you had a better day today than yesterday.

Cheriann, good idea to get rid of the tempting stuff when possible. I'm sure your son appreciated them

Cathy, yes, I'm sure that the snow is beautiful, but it must get old when it's keeping you inside.

Liz, you'll find that you won't really miss those potatoes after you get all that sugar out of your system. You can do it!!! Checked out your web page. Really nice. The after picture sure does make a difference.

Viv, sorry to hear the news about your dad, will sure pray for good news of the scan. Thursday will seem like it takes a long time to get here for you, I'm sure, but think good & positive thoughts till then! 21" of snow!! I can't even fathom what that would be like.

Joy, so sorry to hear that painful lump will require surgery, but it's best to take care of things like that as soon as possible not to run into other problems. We'll keep you in prayer for a good outcome. Now you have snow too? Very little chance of us getting any of that here in the marsh of SW LA.

Rhroo, you snowed too? my goodness! I had a mental picture of you walking in boots..what a work out that would be the link worked for your homepage. yes, a big difference in the before & after. Way to go Girl! Great idea to take a picture in the before jeans. That would really be a dramatic picture!

JanCan, that's a good tip about journaling the physical & emotional feeling & that allows you to see what foods do not work for you. Thanks, I will try to add that to mine too. Very interesting theory on that "potatoe" before bedtime. Will have to give that some thought.

Deb, employee stealing a CO2 canister to get high? OMG! Making faces in the toliet! Glad you feel better now.

Well, another long day at work tomorrow, so I'd better get some Probably won't see ya'll for a couple of days. Those 12 hr shifts really do me in. Have a great WIW everyone! I'm hoping to be among the losers too

Hello everyone! I had a not too bad day today except with Deb's help realized that I didn't eat enough. I do feel it too, I am a bit hungry but it's a little too late in the day or early in the morning to eat. Anyway, thanks Deb for all of your help.

Joy, I hope the lump is nothing serious. I had one on the top of my wrist. But it was a ganglion. The Doctor didn't want to do surgery because of the ligaments and nerves involved and so she aspirated it with a needle. It started to come back but then went completely away and hasn't been back in over a year. Good luck with everything.

Belinda, I'm excited about trying your broccoli recipie too. It sounds really good.

Viv, I am sorry to hear about your dad.

Thanks again to EVERYONE for all of the motivation.
