I've nothing to add, except that I'm getting really tired of looking at that chick's butt.

Good luck to all those weighing today - keeping fingers crossed for happy news!

I am feeling a bit hungry "around the edges" today - I think I have not been eating enuf these past few days and it's starting to show - but I know I can't break down. Dh was shovelling some potato chips down his mouth after dinner (we hide them from him as he doesn't need them and knows they are not good for him, but eldest ds likes them). Anyhow of course dh "found" them..in kitchen island cupboard...I hear bag crackling noises - then he says "oh I dropped something" and bends down where he is hidden by the cupboard door and chows down! I of course caught him red handed and confiscated the bag....and told him in no uncertain terms that his eating this was not at all supportive towards my weight loss efforts! (I kinda knew how yummy the would be but I DID NOT EAT A SINGLE CHIP - did I mention potato chips, esp the ripple kind are my ULTIMATE RED LIGHT FOOD!..and that if I had one - the whole bag would disappear? )

So I "rehid" them in what I hope is a safe location.

Do I eat something now? I am not supremely hungry, but feeling peckish? Maybe shredded wheat and milk?

Also does anyone know where I can find a computer pic of the "comfort zone" with numbers, etc.? I really want to print one out in color and post it somewhere where I can see it often - so I can judge how hungry I really am? I think it might provide some good motivation for me!

Thanks,

Frouf

You have to hand it to him -- he's inventive! Who else would have thought about pretending to drop something so they could eat chips behind a cabinet door? It's mighty clever!

How about having a glass of milk, then wait a little to see if you're still hungry?

Torrey, you're right about the flour not being Core. 1 cup is 9 points. 16 Tablespoons in a cup....so 1 1/2 tablespoons would be about 1 point. I don't have a calculator here. Wait Hubby went for calculator. Actual total is .84 for the whole recipe. So, I still call it Core. I think the rule is no more than one non-Core ingredient is still legal to call Core but you must count the points for the non-Core ingredient. I haven't made it yet so I don't know how crucial the flour is. I'll let you whether I think it needed the flour after dinner tomorrow! My Jewel Foodstore makes their own brand of light hamburger and hot dog buns. I don't know if they are a national store or not. Their store label is call President's Choice. They are pretty darn good. I can eat 2 for less than the cost of 1 regular bun. I never tried the salad dressing you mentioned, but I purchased a house brand of the other grocery store in town, Dominicks. One is calle FF Roasted Sweet Pepper with Garlic and the other is Balsamic vinagrette. I'm anxious to try both of them.

If someone has Sara Lee Delightful breads available, I think they also make a hamburger bun that would be good for the sloppy joe's. I'm going to get some tomorrow.

Here's the Chicken Fried Rice. You can add whatever veggies you like. Pea Pods and water chestnuts are our favorites.

Chicken Fried Rice

12-16 oz Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts or Thighs
2 Tablespoons and 2 teaspoons canola or olive oil (for 4 servings this would be the day's portion of good oil. You could probably get by with just the 2T if you want)
4 cloves fresh garlic (I use 1 Tablespoon minced garlic in water in the jar)
3 cups cooked brown rice (I make mine with chicken broth)
2 bunch green onions, sliced
2 T low sodium soy sauce
4 large eggs, beaten with a fork
2/3 cup snow peas/pea pods, cleaned (I use a whole package of fancy snow peas from produce department. I also cut them into thirds)
1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained and quartered.

Cook brown rice to yield 3 cups. Replace water with chicken broth and do not use any oil. Set aside. I broil the chicken in the broiler of my oven for 6 minutes on each side until it is nearly cooked through. I do it this way because I like the flavor the chicken gets in the broiler and because whenever I brown chicken in a skillet I always make it tough. If you are a better "stir fryer" than me you can probably cook the chicken in the pan with the garlic, onions and soy sauce. If you want to cook it in the pan, cut up the chicken before you cook it. If you are going to broil it first, cut up chicken into bite sized pieces after it is cooked and set aside. Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic, green onions, soy sauce and cook for about 2 minutes. Add pea pods and water chestnuts and warm for about a minute. Add broiled chicken and brown rice to pan and warm through, stirring occasionally. While the mixture is warming, scramble eggs in a separate skillet. When firm, stir into fried rice mixture and stir until thoroughly mixed.

BTW, I only lost .2 tonight. This is how it seems to go for me. I have a decent week then one or two small weeks. I like the big ones best. Go figure. Down 25.8. Only 2 weigh ins to go to get to 30 pounds. Not going to be easy!

Happy Friday morning everyone!

Just wanted to congratulate Frannie, Bride, and Vickie on losses at WI!! Way to go!! And I would be disappointed too, Vickie, if the scales didn't seem to properly reflect all my hard work but a loss ... any loss ... is what matters, particularly when you couple that with eating healthier and exercising too. You're doing everything right! The scales will eventually reflect that.

And thanks for posting the chicken stir fry recipe ... I think I might be able to manage cooking that without undue hardship ... maybe!

Speaking of hamburger buns, I think the Nature's Own wheat and fiber buns are only 1 point also and they're not too bad ... I'll try to doublecheck though next time I'm in the store since I haven't bought any in a long while.

DH and I did buy the elliptical machine last night at Sears so I'm really excited ... imagine that! Me ... excited about spending too much money AND exercising!!! How much sense does that make? I really don't enjoy exercising ... like many of you, it's just one of those things I feel I HAVE to do ... but at least on the elliptical I feel like I'm getting the maximum workout for the time.

Enough ramblings from me ... have a great Friday everyone!

Deborah

Deborah, keep us posted on how you like it once you get it. I might really be tempted myself since you guys all say it's easy on your knees.

Good morning all !! Seems like I always get on here late, but have to get my DD off to school, then get my coffee made. to those who lost at WI. Vickie, don't sweat the small stuff. That happens to me all the time. For some reason I always weigh more on Thurs. which is my normal WI day. I can be down a lb. on Wed. and Fri., but Thurs for WI it is back on. So, this week I went to WI on Wed. and I was down 1 lb. Thurs. I weighed myself to see if that pound was back and LOL I was down another .6. Go figure ! ! I guess I'm .6 ahead for next week.

I'm going to start an exercise thread for anyone who wants to post there. Just a daily log of our exercise achievements.

well, i was telling them last night at weigh in that I had a really really hungry week, still lost 1.4, and then i told them i did something outrageous and journalled everything i ate (yep i found that journal).........they all said, quit journalling.........it is making you hungry.........could this be true??

our meeting was about having fun, and we must be, 2 new members last night........this leader is out of this world. she has done so much for this chapter.......it only started 1.5 years ago! we had a lady meet her goal last week and then she lost another 2 pounds.......I want that to be me!!!!!!!! Yep, I am going to do it!!! 27.6lbs..........working on another 25, then will determine where i want to be!!

Vickie, another good recipe.....picking up that chicken tonight and probably having this over the weekend.....yumma ummma

Frouf...good for you for hiding those chips, funny he would try and sneak a food that is soooooo noisy.......bound to get caught! hehehe ..... can't remember the last time I had a chip as I have now replaced them with those Bruschetta Rice Crackers or those Quaker Rice Cakes......

deborah congrats on your ellipitcal i am sure you will love it! ...... I know I do.....

mumto...thanks for the exercise thread.......but what does WATP mean.........walked ??? i will get a post in there too!

Cheers to everyone, TGIF, can't wait for the weekend to start

Frannie, I had 38 people in my meeting last night. They were hanging from the rafters. I think Thursday is a popular night! You should journal if you enjoy it. I'd NOT be having fun if I was journaling! I think WATP means Weekly Activity Points.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Red face Finally Friday!

CONGRATS TO ALL YOU BIG LOSERS!! .... and remember ANY LOSS (even staying the same) is going in the right direction!

Deborah - have fun with your new/expensive piece of equipement - I wish I could have something in my family room right smack in front of the tv - but too many kids, toys and interferences to make that happen. Have a treadmill in the bedroom and finally got a tv/dvd/vcr to use, but being a short froufie I can't really see all of the screen while walking - so we have been investigating a piece of furniture or shelf which will bring it up to a vertically challenged frouf's level!

Having a crazy day here - did not make coffee this am - was going to buy some downstairs - but no time! Had a yogurt only and now it's 11 AM AND I HAVE NOT EATEN ANYTHING MORE - altho my oatmeal is ready, just need to boil up some water - I must eat this now as I am going out for a retirement party lunch in half hour and I know I should not go on am empty stomach. So my challenge is to make it thru the lunch without caving. Party is at a steakhouse - assume I can get a salad w/something on it - otherwise a small filet mignon, naked baked potato and side salad??? Will try to monitor my LEVEL OF FULLNESS - it will be fun tho cuz it's where I used to work so will see a lot of old faces - the other issue is of course having everyone see me fatter than I was probably the last time I saw them! How depressing!

Vickie in answer to your question while dh is not thin - he has put on some weight- but nothing to be alarmed about. He could lose 15 lbs or so (usually size 36 jeans, but has some 34s that he wants to get into). He is a major CHOCOHOLIC and eats M&Ms almost every day (altho he says now he prefers Kit Kat chunky bars?)....he is a little piggy really. I try not to harass him too much, but I do suggest when I can that he cut down on the sweets and eat fruit or veggies. To be honest I know he is very stressed and depressed due to his recent layoff and if anyone knows about using food for comfort it's me!! He is about to get a small government contract (thru a friend of his) which will keep him busy for approx 3-4 weeks and I know this will really pump him up and make him feel better about himself! At least I hope so!

And check out this article: http://www.cbc.ca/story/science/nati...get050127.html (and I'm tapping my toes while I type this! ha ha ha )

Will let you know how I make out at lunch!

Frouf
