Frannie, hope you're not getting sick! Man, it's too cold there for any viruses to live. I've been really cold lately. I wonder if it has something to do with Core or maybe it's just my TOM that NEVER CAME! Uggghhhh! I still feel all crampy and bloated and nothing. You are craving chocolate too. Maybe you are having phantom TOM! I blame everything on that! Hope you feel better soon.

Frouf, that's GREAT news about hubby! It means he's not throwin in the towel. Hang in there girlfriend, I hope everything works out.

Somedays, I hate my water. My throat will even close up when I try to drink. I usually try to drink something warm in between and that seems to help for some reason. Take a break from the water and catch up later.

Hello, all! I just finished reading your posts from the last few days and my head is swimming!!! So much has gone on in the last few days. First, I hope that all of you in the blizzard zone are doing well and keeping safe. As another Texas chic, I have never been in a blizzard, but I'm sure that it is a huge pain!

To all of those who had a loss, congratulations and kee pup the good work! To those who had a gain or stayed the same, remember that it's all temporary! Up or stagnant one week, a good solid loss the next! Welcome to all newbies!

Kathy, I second the emotion about the beer! Once that craving hits, it's hard to shake! I used to hate beer, but in the last few years I have become a fan. I'm a Bud Light girl when I'm being good, but a Shiner girl when I'm throwing caution to the wind!!! Wooohooo!!!!

Well, on the workout tip, I started the weight portion of the new workout on Saturday and it did a number on me! We did cardio for 30, instead of 45 and then went into our weight training. With cardio we were there for 2 1/2 hours. Well, I had only a energy bar (170 cals.), by the time we were midway into the weights, I got dizzy and nauseous and had to sit between sets! Turns out I hadn't eaten enough. The cardio burned double what the energy bar's value was. After our workout, we went to lunch. I can not begin to tell you how much I ate! It was insane, but I was told by my nutrition/fitness guru & a body builder/trainer friend that the more I worked out the more I needed to eat. So on Fridays before my morning workout on Saturday and Tuesdays before my evening workout, I have to up my food a bit more to sustain the cals. loss. and I'll have to manage the hunger and take care of it after. Crazy. And that's exactly how I will be, crazy. It's been a long time since I have worked out so hard. Memories are coming back of being a b*t*h on wheels when the post workout hunger hits. I'm psyched about the benefits, but I'm not a huge fan of the increased appetite. Sunday night, I ate so much pasta I got sick. No fun!

Well, we shall see, it's supposed to be all about the choices you make and have on hand. Need to revisit that list.

Anyone doing CORE and also doing high intensity workouts? Would love to get an idea on how you manage the plan and the crazy hungries!?!?!?!

Torrey, sounds like you are working out to put us all to shame. I've always heard that intense cardio requires mega calories. You're lucky you didn't pass out! Congratualtions on your great weight loss. I bet you are going to have a spectacular week.

Hi ladies,
My head is swimming too from all the posts since yesterday. I spent a long time last night fighting with my computer. Sometimes it is so slow and my weight slider thing disappeared and took forever to get that back, then my password was no good and had to reset that.............anyway I'm back, I think.

WI is tomorrow. Is it bad to stop for a candy bar after?? LOL My TOM is approaching, although don't know exactly when. Think I'm in perimenopause. Seems like its getting shorter and shorter in between.

Any ideas on boosting your metabolism. Tried Atkins once for 2 weeks and lost 1.5 lbs., according to some chart on their website, if you lose less than 4 your metaolism is "resistant to weight loss" What??? I can never seem to lose more than .6 per week. I am drinking my water and exercising (either WATP 2 mile express, or 30 minutes on the treadmill) at least 5 days a week.

Boy, Mum. I don't have any great advice. I, too, am in the perimenopause boat and fight to get the weight off. I'm walking on the treadmill 30 minutes, 7 days a week and drinking 80 oz of water a day. So far I'm averaging 1.35 pounds per week. I'm sure when I get down to your level, my loss will taper off too. I've heard that more water is better and also that it is best to exercise in the morning.

Good luck!

CONGRATS TORREY - on the great loss and excellent workout efforts - but I guess you know you should eat more before exercising - no point in passing out!

Mum - 1.5 lbs is not bad - I think Atkins was wrong in giving numbers and not percentages - the less you weigh and have to lose the less you will - if you only need to lose 30 lbs...then 1.5 lbs. is 5% of the total which is nothing to laugh at!

Both you and Vickie sound like exercise fiends to me - very good inspiration!

Frannie - I work for Health Canada at Tunney's Pasture (actually across the street in an office tower)...don't worry it's not a "real" pasture - just a huge round road and government complex with a zillion buildings (and very little parking!!).

Just finished lunch - ate a WHOLE CAN of soup (19 oz).....but while there were many veggies/beans/potatoes in there - I also found (heaven forbid ) white pasta shells (not a lot)...but will have to count the points I guess. Munching on my apple now. Might not have my yogurt now as I am feeling very "comfortable" now.

...and almost finished my first 24 oz of water - what a slow water day!

Good morning everyone (or whatever it is where you are.) Nothing too substantial to add, except that I was supposedly down a pound this morning and, even better, my latest pair of fat pants is feeling decidedly loose. Having to buy fat pants, 'cause I couldn't wear anything in my closet without asphixiating myself was what really drove me into the arms of WW.

In a bit I'm going to lock myself in my office and have sardines and mustard on crackers, a childhood favorite that renders me temporarily unfit for human companionship. Then I'll have a big salad to make it all go away.

By the way, if you haven't tried them, there are certain light varieties of Wasa crackers that are considered a 0 points food for a reasonable serving. Not extremely tasty, but better than nothing if you are craving something to put your cheese or hummus on. I like them with ff cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Vickie, I am exercising in the morning. Found that when I exercised at night, I wasn't sleeping very well. WI is tomorrow, trying to drink extra water and might even exercise again. My scale shows that I'm down a pound, but we all know that might be back tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement. I don't know how you drink 80 oz. of water a day. I'm lucky if I can get in 4 glasses plus coffee and diet soda.

Froufie

P.S. Very hungry this pm - guess the WHOLE 19 OZ CAN OF SOUP didn't cut it? Had some microwave popcorn (snack bag size), more water, and a banana...and a teaspoon of peanut butter (I think not enuf protein at lunch) Time to head home and attack the fridge!

Froufie, if I don't exercise that much this old perimenopausal body gives up no weight. Mum, I just started drinking the 80 oz because Torrey or someone said she loses more when she drinks more. I was only drinking what WW recommends as the minimum (48 oz). When I kicked it up a notch I had a good week last week (-2.4). Sometimes I just have to hold my nose and drink.....oh and I always drink from a straw. My Leader says that it is proven that you drink more with a straw. I buy myself pretty neon ones to amuse myself!

Froufie, I don't think a whole can of soup is too much. Did I tell you all that WW told me that the potato in some of the soups does NOT have to be counted against your one a day potato/rice/pasta limit? One of my favorite soups has some potato in it. I would have HATED to give it up because of the potato.

Guzzle that water, Frouf....it's critical.

Cher...so I see that you are another "scale rider" to add to our group. Lord Almighty, if only we could all stay off the darn scales. Try not to overreact. You'll lose by your weigh in as long as you are staying on Core and counting points for all treats. EEEWWWWWW, are sardines Core? There's one Core food I will never try. I like salt but fish I'm not too big on.

Froufie, sounds like emotional eating to me. Try to distract yourself if you can.

Forgot to tell you all.....for those of you who don't post your menus or read our other boards....One of our new posters, PinkBrideToBe, asked for corn bread recipes. I posted two. One is a more traditional cornbread (which I'm having tonight with leftover chili) and another "fried" corn cakes. They are in the January 25 menus thread and in the "salads and sides" section of our recipe board if you are interested. I've tried both and would make them again. Hubby liked both.

Froufie, so will they come out with a "sugar patch" like they have for nicotine? We all knew that sugar is addictive but the author in the article could give you a good scare!
