i just got the LCW dvd which I'm sure would classify as cardio - about to try it for the first time now. lol god help me lol
and the Wii Fit Plus, BL Wii and Your Shape Wii......which i would think is all cardio - anyone think it could be classified as something else???
I have several sets of different weight dumbbells and resistance bands I plan to incorporate into my routines....I have the upper body and lower body Leslie dvds - which i know the upper body uses the weights - but it's been so long since i used them - i dont remember exactly.
i did the Your Shape and BL wii games yesterday....and did several of the plank position and pushups (on the wii board) in the BL game - and OMG i have sore abs today. lol

I have had several lightbulb moments go off lately...the one that scared me the most was I had a dream that I had a heart attack. I am recently a single mom to a 5 year old daughter and I want to live a long healthy life for her and myself.

I have always been a little overweight and my senior year in high school I gained about 30 pounds. I was at 200 pounds going into college. I went to a small school and got really active and followed the Atkins diet and some weight did drop. After college I stayed pretty consistent with my weight but then I met someone that let's just say was not good for me. For the past seven years I gained 100 pounds total and my self-esteem is shot. I have a successful career and I want to move ahead and feel confident. I know this is going to be a turning point for me. I am very happy with just my daughter and I and I had a huge sigh of relief when we said goodbye to 2009. I am doing this challenge with my sister and we are both really excited. I work Friday-Sunday so during the week I will be on here, excercising and living my life. I just cleaned out all my cabinets and tomorrow will be heading to the grocery store for good (healthy) eats!!! I want to make sure my dream or should I say nightmare does not come true!!! Stay strong Red Team!!!

just finished Wk 1 Monday of LCW dvd....omg, i hurt. lol and still have my other 2 workouts to do. lol so will do my best to stick to the 6 days of week 1 and re-eval and see if i think i can skip to week 3 workouts next week. lol havent been to the grocery store yet, so no bread in the house. but need to go before bedtime - so can pack a lunch for DD for school tomorrow (since she wont eat what they have on teh menu). oh joy. lol
but good news is i'm getting back on track for my water intake (i drank a LOT of diet soda during the Christmas break while my folks were here with us)....I've already finished 48 oz so far today so thats good considering it's been next to nothing the last 2 weeks. lol
hope i can move tomorrow....i'm sore lol

I haven't really had that lightbulb go off for me either. I've struggled with extra weight since my teens. (or at least I thought I was overweight then, if only I knew) I wasn't truly overweight until my senior year of college. I was able to lose 20-30lbs a few times, and kept it off for a few years at a time.

My current weight has been creeping up on me over the last 5? years. I've just been slowly gaining and gaining, and haven't lost any real weight for years. I've tried everything, only to lose 5lbs and give up. I even got to be in a weight loss study and was one of the few people not to lose any weight

So what's different now? I'm really not sure, but I do know I'm going to finally conquer it this time and keep it off. I sort of feel that hitting 200lbs was like hitting a wall and now I'm bouncing back. I know everything I need to do. I know I have to exercise and keep up with it forever.

I think finding this challenge and joining is going to be a great help. I'm already inspired by what so many of you have already accomplished. You all seem like a great group so far, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you better and maybe inspiring some of you in return

MeandMyself - I've always been healthy too, and I've been married to a wonderful man for almost 20 years, so I know what it's like not having something really serious to motivate you to lose weight. I've gotten a lot of great insight into the psychology behind weight loss from two books by the author Judith Beck: The Beck Diet Solution and The Complete Beck Diet for Life. If you haven't read these I highly recommend them. She has a lot of advice and techniques on overcoming emotional eating and motivating ourselves to get healthy and stay healthy. One thing I have done from the advice in these books is to make a list of advantages to losing weight. You compile a list of every advantage you can think of and write it on an index card. Then you read this list in the morning and throughout the day to keep the reasons you're doing this front and center. Here is my list:

So, those are some of mine. I try to read them all the time to remind myself why I'm doing this.

I also stocked my fridge with good healthy foods and started my plan today!

Lightbulb moment? I have many! Oh those darn pictures....you know you have gained cause your clothes are tighter but when you see yourself how others see you, then you realize how big you really are. I hated that I have avoided having my picture taken cause of how I look.

Today is the start of a new life. I have done great today......starting my plan and drinking plenty of water! I can't wait to look better this summer and have more energy cause I'm not carrying around so much weight!

    Let's go RED TEAM!!!!

Hi everyone, I just finished a busy busy work day and gave in and went to McD's and had a smores pie and a chicken parmeasan wrap. I am exhausted and have a headache and should go on the elliptical but i can't do it... someone just kick me

I have 30day shred and oh my is all i can say... wow.. i can't do that late at night in my apt as i am too fat to be doing jumping jacks.. I did a 25min yoga and wow are my muscles sore... I need to find something else to do to spice things up...

My most recent lightbulb moment was when my daughter asked why i was breathing soo heavy while tying up my shoes.. My aunt is 300+lbs and i don't want all the health issues she has and so it was time especially since she gets out of breath tying her shoes... kinda embarassing. My daughter says fat is a bad word.. I am just chubby...

Writing down advantages is really helpful. I made a list of ten reasons for losing weight back in April and wrote it on the back cover of my food journal.

I live in an apt too, 2nd floor. And the thing I dislike the most about it is that I can't do workout videos without shaking my downstairs neighbor's ceiling. Sometimes I do jumping jacks on my patio because I feel like it makes less noise, but I have to look out so that no one sees me! In the end, I'd rather just go to the gym

    Hi Team!

Just got home from work and had to run to the grocery store, it's my first day back from being out all week and I thought the day would never end. I'm pooped! Started to read everyones posts and now I'm psyched! I'm thrilled I joined this challenge everyone is so motivating.

Stayed pretty much OP today I plan to get my workout in tonight while doing some laundry and getting the kitchen tidied up. We started a biggest loser challenge at work today we will weight in each Monday for one dollar and who ever loses the most percentage of their weight wins the pot, there is about 9 people in it so far.

I also order a Timex heart rate/calorie monitor can't wait to receive it!

    Well I better get going

cardio for the wii fit plus unless you are doing the strength training segment exercises...and for BL wii it depends which workouts you are doing. I count all the circuits pretty much strength training as they hit the muscles HARD and have lots of strength mixed in...but BL circuits for cardio can have a lot of lunging without weights, I count that cardio.

WATP and regular walking/c25k = cardio
30 day shred = I would count strength if it works your muscles hard (it does mine)
BL wii = depend which workouts you select! If you use weights go with strength, if not then it could be cardio

Okay I think I've decided not to do the last chance workout challenges... I know that's lame! I workout, just not in 30 minute intervals for cardio and 2x a week for weight training, etc.... I think it's just going to be too hard for me to keep track of in the format that it needs to be in. Other than that, I'm super excited for this challenge, I can't wait for the show to start tomorrow night. I've never seen it before, but I think it'll help me stay motivated for the team.

    thanks for the tips firefly

I'm excited about seeing the new BL premier tomorrow night I started watching at season 6 - when i first started the 3FC and BL Challenges It's very motivating

I burned dinner - made a pizza...luckily i used my PC stone, so at least the bottom was golden but the top fried. lol i was outside talking to my neighbor and forgot to check the timer. lol oh well we still ate it. i just need to calculate the calories so i can enter it in my fitnesspal and red team thread.... and then gonna do my Wii workouts.
got the kids to bed a lil early, so i can do my last workouts for the day. then might lay down and relax and play some Professor Layton on my DS lol
busy day tomorrow....grocery shopping, pay for the kids' gymnastics classes (we've enjoyed our 4 free months/kid during this deployment.....but now it's time to start payin').....and a few other errands. hope it's not too cold tomorrow. think it's to hit the 50 degrees tomorrow.

What got you started on your weight loss journey? Was there a "lightbulb moment" when you knew you needed to make changes to your lifestyle?

For me the advent of Facebook was like a big splash of cold water in the face! Up to then, I never saw pictures people took of me. With fbook, as soon as people started tagging old and new pictures of me I realized how I've never really been happy with the way I look and, if I wanted to stop "untagging" pictures, I better do something about it. The other "lightbulb" moment(s) comes every morning when I can't fit into any of my work clothes. One day I started crying on my way to work in the car because my clothes were so tight.

This year I'm turning 33. I just don't want to look back at my pictures from my 30's and regret that I never got off the damn couch and did something about my weight.
