I am so glad this is up!

I was so worried something had gone wrong, and this wasn't going to happen.

Shan, your January plan sounds busy too....and fun - I would love to have a mountain to hike but there's nothing to hike in Texas. lol

So glad to see the first week thread up for Red team I'm gonna go sign up then get to bed. it's after midnight, and we have to be up before 7am to get ready for DD to go back to school....I hope there's a nap in my future I've slept in till 10am all weekend. lol

January is definetely going to be busy, but I really want to step it up and reach my goal this year. I'm going home to the states to visit in July and I really would like to reach close to 220 by then. I just know I can stay really motivated and on plan as long as I get myself into a routine. That being said, yes my diet and exercise is busy in January, but I also have allocated off days too. I also changed my weigh in day from Monday morning to Saturday mornings. Hope everyone is having a good start to their week.

Hey everyone! ^_^ Hee~
My January is going to fairly busy¬_¬ I have some exams at the end of the month, so it'll be interesting to settle in a good habbit for excercise and revision work ^_^ I'm very pumped and excited about it though!
I was wondering if anyone can recommend me some good workout DVDs? I only have "Dance it off with Vickey Binns" and would like a few more

I love the Walk Away the Pounds videos. They really work up the sweat on me. Of course my guilty pleasure is my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies DVD's.

Good morning red team!
Hope everyone us getting a good start to the month & year!

My kids don't go back to school until Wed, but I'm back into my crazy part-time work schedule. I'm hoping once the whole family gets back into their normal routines, then life will be a bit easier.
Have a great OP day

Hello ladies!

Hope you are all having a good day.

Not the best start to the challenge for me in that I am suffering flu like symptoms and feel awful so not going to do the exercise I had planned. Just a temporary setback and hopefully I will feel well enough to get back to the gym tomorrow. Not letting it dampen my dedication to this though and have been keeping my eating healthy. Quite glad in a way to be snuggled up in my warm house - it is absolutely freezing outside and the snow is still lying thick.

I love the nutritional journal idea and am hoping it will help keep me accountable to myself and to you guys.

A wee question for you all to get us chatting -
What got you started on your weight loss journey? Was there a "lightbulb moment" when you knew you needed to make changes to your lifestyle?

I guess I was blinkered for a long time to the fact that I had a weight problem. I never felt comfortable in my own skin and was completely lacking in self-confidence but just kind of accepted it as the way things were and the card I had been dealt with in life. Then one day I was in a dressing room in a plus size store trying on a top. The entire cubicle was mirrored and I could see myself from all angles. What I saw disgusted me so much, I burst into tears. I resolved that day to change my life around. it has been a rollercoaster ride since (you will learn more of that in time, I'm sure!) but I know that was the best decision I have ever made and represents a real turning point in my life.

Over to you guys - would love to hear what kickstarted your journeys.

This weekend we finished off all the leftover junk in the house and bought lots of fruits and veggies so as long as I don't get lazy and decide on quick meals, my food should be back on plan as of today. I plan to start exercising again today during my puppy's naps. He is still very young and has severe separation anxiety if he isn't sleeping, so I am going to work around his sleeping schedule.

Mine wasn't quite a lightbulb moment.....I decided that I wanted to join the FBI, and I knew that I couldn't pass the physical fitness entrance exam in my current state, so I started working on that. Of course my when my graduation pictures came in I really got fueled up....maybe someday, when I look like a goddess, I'll be able to pull those photos back out without shuddering in horror.
