@TeagsC I made the rutabaga last night, I bought frozen and it was already cut in small cubes but I couldn't find it fresh. I've never tasted it before and I LOVED it!!!! I am not even sure I've ever heard of it before to be honest lol. This diet has forced me to try things outside my norm and I love Okra and now I can add this, thanks for sharing!!!!
i agree .... i never had rutabaga before this program and it is AMAZING!
Hi All - I am in Vail CO and plan to restart IP on Sunday - after Thanksgiving. This will be the 2nd time on IP and I had success the first time however I was not diligent about staying on IP when my kids got out of school for the summer.
This time I am doing it on my own, I was not a fan of my consultant so I'm hoping you can be my support.
I have 38 pounds to loose. The only time I have ever weighed this much is when I was pregnant with my son. I am at a point where I refuse to buy the next size up.
I have been working out a lot lately and I know that exercise is not encouraged for the first few weeks - I'm hoping I can get back on my workout routine as I need to keep up with my kids on the slopes.
I have a question for you all since its been a while since I have been on IP - I read an article about a few foods being freebies - what have you been told about cucumbers and lettuce, are you being told they are freebies? And if so how much?
Thanks all and looking forward to getting back down to my comfort weight.

Firstly, good luck on your journey. I wish I knew how to link stuff, but if you go to the sticky: IP Ultimate List Recipes, FAQ, Newbie Guide, Exercise, and other Important Threads at the top of this forum and go to the last page you will see that the latest IP protocol sheets are available to download (June of this year).
They have a list of the unlimited RAW veggies. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that if you find yourself still hungry or snacky, you can eat from this list to fill you up and keep you on track. I don't know that they actually put a quantity cap on them, but like anything, use in moderation and only if you feel you really need them.
Hi ladies, I'm back from the longest road trip ever!
knm - I have wanted to try jicama, how was it?!?
TOgden - WOOHOOO! Congrats on a great first week, that's amazing! How is week 2 going so far?
Vailmama - welcome! Good for you for trying again, hopefully your coach is better this time around.
Scorpio - welcome!
------------------------
It was a good trip, it was quite sad as we were essentially going to say goodbye to my grandma, but that's life I suppose. I managed to do pretty good on my eating, I didn't have ONE food cheat, although I did have a few drinks over the few days. Nothing too crazy, I had two vodka waters with lime and two glasses of white wine. I'm sooooooo regretting that though, I just keep feeling down about it.
I'm pleased with my eating. I didn't let anything tempt me - not even homemade perogies!!! Which are my very favourite!
Anyway, I'm a little nervous for this week, wondering if the wine kicked me out of ketosis or not...
TeagsC - the jicama was okay. I cut it up into small cubes, then baked it with a little coconut oil, cinnamon and sweetener. It doesn't get soft like apples do, so it was still crunchy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just wasn't expecting that. I used the WF caramel syrup on top. I only used half of it, I will have to try the other half of it as fries and see how that is.
TOgden - congrats on your first WI! That's awesome!
I also had my first WI yesterday. I was down 8.4 lbs! I could tell I was retaining a ton of water before I started, so I know that was all mostly water, but still makes me happy! Lots of my clothes are still tight so I still have a ways to go, but I think if I can have one more solid week of weight loss, I'll be well on my way! My coach has ketostix so I used one yesterday and I'm definitely in ketosis, I figured I must have been since I had stuck to the diet, but I've never had the metallic taste that some mention. Now that I know for a fact I am, it's almost like I have a different mind set and now that I know I shouldn't have cravings, I don't... Silly, I know, but if that's what it takes to trick my brain, I'll go with it!
knm - WOWZA! That's phenomenal! Especially as you dont have much to lose! Good for you lady! Anything that you think worked really well? Does your clinic do the BCA??
OldMeBack - welcome! I am sure you will see great results too, it's all about sticking to it!

Honestly, I sort of went hog crazy the weekend before I started so I think I was just carrying a ton of water weight when I first weighed in.
My coach is now selling Pro-Energy products, not IP products, but they're very similar.
I do typically drink 80-96 oz of water a day, so that may have helped. I also worked out, at a high intensity, 4 days last week. I know on IP they recommend you don't work out, and as I continue this might end up hindering my weight loss, but for now I'm not willing to give up my workouts.
On Pro-Energy you count your carbs, it's not just based on 4 cups of approved veggies a day plus three IP products. I'm on the program where you can have 40-45 g net carbs/day. Might be worth counting your carbs for a day or two just to see where you're hitting. Sometimes it's just an eye opener to realize how many carbs are in certain (even approved) veggies and if you want to see higher results maybe cut those down a bit?
As mentioned before, I've done IP a few times now, and the time I saw the best results I tracked my net carbs, just for education and informational purposes. If I was eating rutabaga one day, I would eat other lower carb veggies that day just to be safe.
I know lots will say on IP you don't need to do that, those that created the diet do it for you, you just need to follow the 4 cups/day of approved veggies, and I'm not disagreeing with that. But if you've stalled or are trying to see bigger losses, or even if, like me, you just do it for informational purposes, it doesn't hurt to track your net carbs.

THANK YOU EVERYONE
Week 2 is going well because I love the food options I have chosen, Im in a routine now and I'm feeling confident. My biggest worry for week 2 is going to a coworkers home for Thanksgiving ... I spoke with her so she knows I can only have the Turkey and veggies but its the other 14 people who will be there that I havent shared my lifestyle change with.
