  • Quote: Hi Ladies, sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Work is nutso!

I have been doing well, staying OP 100% and really hoping for a good loss this week! I joined the holidays challenge too, so hopefully that will keep me motivated to stick to it over the holidays. I had thought of letting myself have a cheat at Christmas, but honestly the closer we get to it, the less I want to break down and cheat. That's a good thing, I think!

So, I have heard a lot about the Beck Diet Solution book, does anyone here know what it's all about?
    Hi there,
Congrats on hitting your mini goal! That is amazing! I am hoping for 30 by Christmas but I know it is a stretch!

    Time will tell!

Great work and thanks for all of your advice!
    Cheers
    Heidi

If you're curious about it but don't want to buy the book just yet, they have a Facebook page and post daily tips that I've found really helpful.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just quit my job and between that and the diet I think I could use a resource like that!
  • Quote: Me and my husband went to see a movie last night and as usual he had a large popcorn and large coke which I usually share with him. Not last night though. It was tempting and sort weird to watch a movie without munching on something but I passed the test I guess lol.

However I do have a problem - I always forget the supplement in the morning, can I just take them in the evening with all the other ones?
Oh you are brave, Movie popcorn with that fake buttery stuff is my fav! I don't think I will be able to see another movie again!
  • Quote: Hi everyone my name is Tami and I am going to my initial IP today.
    Welcome Tami!

Hey, it's not that bad once you are done with the first week, and bring a bag of IP snack, bars, waffle, chips or puffs. Pick a good movie though, if you are into the movie you will forget to munch.
  • Quote: Hi all and happy Friday! Fluffefei -- great willpower on the popcorn! That was my biggest worry when I went to the movies with my snackhappy family over Tgiving. I took along a Peanut Butter Bar (cut up into 6 pieces and put in a ziploc) and munched on that … and was satisfied (and proud of myself)!

Scorpio -- sorry you've been sick, but glad you're back OP.

So many of you have had such an amazing first few weeks of losses! (Teags, TOgden, klmo, hmm, MaPetiteChoux (congrats on upcoming wedding!))

Scorbett and Ruth Ann and other vets -- thanks for looking out for us Novemberites. Not sure how you do it with all the other responsibilities on your plate, but we sure do appreciate the guidance.

It has been 4 weeks for me now, and yesterday's WI had me down 4 (the Calm must've worked). Can't believe how much easier things are fitting already, and I'm really looking forward to getting dressed up for a holiday party tonight. Eating properly is going to be a challenge, so I'm thinking of actually getting in a big salad before I go. And popping a bar into my clutch just in case. Even though my overall loss numbers don't seem very impressive right now, the change in inches and back fat and muffin top fat are very welcome. And I am determined to stay OP so I feel even better about things when we head to warmer climates for Christmas

    Wishing everyone a strong weekend!

Thanks Mimi! I agree that the advice from the vets is so helpful! What a wonderful mix of newbies & vets! Great support!!
  • Just had my 3rd week WI , lost 2 Lbs comparing 4 lbs for the first and second week, but as long as it's getting less, it will keep me going!
  • Quote: Morning everyone!
Congrats to everyone for sticking to plan through all the holiday events this time of year!

I'm still here and just trucking along. My weight loss came to a sudden halt after my first weigh in. It's TOM now so hoping that's the cause of it. I've been drinking 96 to 112 oz of water a day and trying to just keep things flushed out in hopes I get a big whoosh one of these days.

Kinda bummed out because after that first week I had my hope's up that I'd be done by New Years... oh well, maybe the longer I'm on it the more I"ll learn that I can't just eat whatever I want for a month or two and then think this is a quick fix.

I'm not ready to give up my workouts, but might ease back a bit in the New Year if things still aren't moving.
The second week is always the worst (even on The Biggest Loser). I only lost 2on wk2 but came back with great weeks after. I am sure you will do the same! My husband thinks I am crazy as I always remind him to be "powered by Optimism", it is the only way I can get through this!
  • Quote: Reality check - you lost FOUR POUNDS IN TWO WEEKS! Two pounds a week is FANTASTIC! That is within range of what the average losses are on IP. Weight loss is a journey, you are going to have big loss weeks, and lower loss weeks (maybe even a NO loss week here or there if your body needs to adjust to everything that's happening to it) - all of that is part of the trip.

I'm curious why you said everything has stopped? You have lost EVERY WEEK since beginning IP, and lost more than you would on just about any other program. Make sure you are setting realistic expectations for yourself, no need to get stressed out or disappointed when you're right on track!
Thanks, I needed this sanity check!
  • Quote: Scorbet, thanks for your cheerleading. I hope I'm not alone in feeling emotional about this whole process or being anxious for it to work. I've tried so many diets that have done nothing for me that when this one actually showed results and my coach made that comment, I got my hopes up too high. I'm still working on trusting the diet and need to also work on not picking apart every little thing that I do. I hadn't expected to feel so emotional about all of this, which I guess may be naive.

Sorry to be the needy poster this week, everybody!

Here's a hug for anybody else out there who needs it.
You are doing great but can you loose your coach? As others have posted, 2-3 is the expected average according to the protocol. To say that he/she expected 4+ is unfair and certainly not appropriate for a coach.

I had a dream that IP came out with a popcorn snack! I think I am loosing it! Lol

    Great job! Double digits!!!
  • How are all our mini goals coming along? I know there were quite a few of us who wanted to hit 25 lbs before Christmas - any updates?!?
  • Update! I switched coaches. I have my first meeting with the new one next week, but we've already talked on the phone and from the sound of things, she'll be a better fit. She's even about my height and not much older than I am and lost the same amount as I'm trying to lose when she did IP about 4 years ago! Not that we'll progress the same way, of course, but I like that we're both part of the 50 lbs to lose (or lost) club. Here's to hoping that we have a good rapport and that she gives me saner advice!

Congrats to all of you who've hit your mini goals! I'd set mine as 20 by Xmas, but that was based on inflated expectations, so now I'm aiming for 15 by Xmas.

Anybody else a half-way through Nov. starter? How are you all doing? IP is starting to feel routine to me and I'm liking not having to think about it so much!
  • Yeah!!

I am so glad that you switched coaches! I am sure that you will be very successful! Congratulations.
